Back to Tunic

From the entrance to the West Garden continue west until you reach the first Checkpoint. Take a look through the telescope along the way if you want to get a better look at the area.

Just to the north of the checkpoint you have a Well, and behind it around the corner you’ll find another Merchant. Go back the way you came and just before the rock bridge take a look around the corner.

Follow this path around, all the way past the heroes grave to a chest hidden around a corner. Inside the chest you’ll find an Ability Card .

Head back to the Checkpoint and follow the path to the southwest. You’ll face your first Chompignom. Kill it and follow the small path to the north for Page 26/27 . This includes the map for the West Garden area.

Come back to where you fought the Chompignom and continue to the southwest into the water. Follow the underwater bridge around to another island. Open the chest for some Gold and then walk over the wooden bridges.

Follow the only path around under a walkway. From here you can go south or north. Follow the path to the north. Go over another bridge and under the platform above for a chest with a Fox Piggy Bank. Come back and go up the ladder to unlock the shortcut.

Open the chest for some little Blue Berries and then climb back down the ladder. Go across the bridge and this time head to the south. Take out the Chompignoms and Fairies. Unfortunately you won’t have a ranged weapon to take out the flying Fairies but you’ll pick one up soon.

Continue top the southwest and climb up onto the wall of the ruins. Follow it around and back down. Kill another group of 3 Chompignoms. Use bombs if you need to, then head back to the east. Kill the Fairies, open the chest for gold and head up the ramp to the upper level.

The walkway to the northwest leads to a chest with 4 Dynamite. Take the path east and then south to the next Checkpoint.

A little to the south is an Obelisk that you can’t reach yet. This will activate the nearby teleporter which you’ll use later to get one of the hidden pages. For now walk around the front side of the platform and roll into the wall to the left of the stairs. It will open revealing a chest with a Golden Coin inside.

Go back to the checkpoint and then north to the 4-way intersection. Take the path east, kill the monsters and go down the stairs for a chest with Gold. Enter the cave under the bridge and you’ll find the Magic Dagger . You can use it to freeze opponents but it uses magic points (MP). MP is replenished when you rest at a checkpoint.

Return to the 4-way intersection and go north. Take out the Rudelings and Chompignom and then break the bushes to the right. Inside the chest you’ll find Green Feathers . This can be used to upgrade your Stamina.

Climb up the ladder and open the chest above for a Dragon Tooth . Follow the path to the north and drop down the Rope. The boss is just up ahead but it’s worth climbing down the rope and going back to the first checkpoint to upgrade your stats and set a checkpoint closer to the boss.

Remember the nearby merchant if you want to buy any bombs or other items. Climb back up the rope and head to the north for a the boss fight.

Garden Knight Boss Fight

If you quickly run up to the boss you’ll be able to get in at least 6 attacks before it wakes up. If you freeze it just after that with your new Magic Dagger you’ll be able to do even more damage.

The Garden Knight has a few different attacks. From range it will shoot at you three times with the rifle. When you’re close it will slam down the rifle multiple times. It may pause at the end of a strike and spin around with the rifle. When you see it pause roll out of range.

Roll out of the way of each of the strikes and then get in a few attacks of your own. If you’re getting close to defeating the Garden Knight but just need a bit of extra help use a Lure. This will distract the Knight for a little while so you can get in the final blows.

Once the Garden knight has been defeated run up the path to the north east and open the chest for 200 Gold. Continue up the ladder to the West Bell and strike it to ring the bell.

Follow the path to the northeast for another chest with Blue Berries. Then lower down the bridge for a shortcut back to the Windmill.

Sealed Temple

Return to the main Checkpoint and go north to the sealed temple. You’ll find out the doors are no longer sealed.

Take the path all the way up to the large structure. You’ll need to come back here with 3 keys to place in each of the receptacles. Take the path to the northeast and climb up the ladder. Make your way around the path to Page 24/25 .

Lower down the bridge to unlock a shortcut back around to the area above the sealed temple.

Climb up the ladder to the west and kill the Rudeling. Take a look through the telescope if you want, then make your way to the west to the Golden Door. In front of it you’ll find the Fire Rod .

Take a look at the pattern on the door. From the dot in the center follow the path on either side.

Up-Left-Down-Right-Down-Left-Up-Right

Page 48/49 will appear. Pick it up and make your way back over the bridge to the east. Continue all the way to the east to the entrance to the mountain door.

Head up the stairs and follow the path all the way up the mountain. You can’t open the door yet but you will find Page 20/21 of the manual.

Run back down the mountain path to the Overworld. Continue to the east, kill the Rudelings and open the chest for 3 Blue Berries. Go down the ladder and follow the hidden path around to the south by the side of the temple. Pull up the Lever to open a gap in the cliff and reveal a ladder.

The path that has opened leads to the Forest Fortress. We’ll explore that on the next page.

All Tunic fairy locations in the West Garden

Image of Zoey Handley

West Garden is one of the spots in Tunic where there are two fairies to track down. One of them is pretty simple to find, but the other is a bit off the beaten track. However, collecting enough fairies will net you a precious piece of the instruction manual, while finding all of them unlocks a secret treasure.

The tree on the island

This one can be tricky to find, but luckily there’s a helpful little hint on your map. On the westernmost point of the area, down in the south, there is a cluster of little stones sticking out of the water. This is denoted by an arrow pointing off to nowhere on the map. If you blink to each of these little rocks, you’ll eventually land on an island with a pink cherry tree.

At first glimpse, it might seem like there’s nothing there. You need to turn your attention to the flowers that surround the tree. Each one exists in a cluster, and these indicate which direction you press on the Holy Cross (D-pad on a controller, arrow keys on a keyboard). So the left side of the tree has one flower, so you start with the left. The bottom of the tree has a cluster of two, so down is the second direction you press. Then you move on from there.

If you’re still not able to land the code, here it is: Left, down, right, left, up, down.

The Blue Tiles

This one is reasonably straight-forward and clearly visible from space. Near the center of the map is a large platform that the pink energy track goes through. On either side are decorative blue tiles, but look at them another way and you might recognize them as a code for your Holy Cross. Simply start on one end and follow it through to the other.

If you’re having trouble following it, here is the sequence: Up, left, up, right, up, left, up, right, up, left, down, left, up, right, down, right, up, left, up, right, up, left, up, right, up.

As a reminder, if you’re having trouble finding the location, pressing up, left, up, right, down, right on the “Holy Cross” will send three sparkles out that move in the direction of the fairy.

Tunic walkthrough: every area, boss, and dungeon

Our full walkthrough will guide you through every area, dungeon, and boss in Tunic

Looking for a Tunic walkthrough? Tunic is a sprawling game that harkens back to old Zelda adventures. With multiple maps to explore, sprawling dungeons to navigate, and powerful bosses to defeat, Tunic can feel overwhelming for the unprepared. Fortunately, we're here to help with our Tunic walkthrough.

Below, we'll take you through each step of Tunic's main quest so that you can complete the game without getting lost in dark caves and eerie forests.

How to get into the Sealed Temple in Tunic

Your first goal in Tunic is to get into the Sealed Temple. The large golden doors are initially locked, but you can eventually get inside. To do this, you need to ring the bells in the East and West Belltowers. Below, we walk you through how to get to both Belltowers so that you can enter the Sealed Temple, while also explaining how to get some crucial early-game items. We'll also explain how to defeat the first true boss in Tunic.

  • How to get a sword
  • How to level up
  • East Forest guide
  • How to get a shield
  • How to get a lantern
  • West Garden guide
  • Garden Knight boss fight guide

The guides above will take you from the first moment when you wake up on the beach through to the first major boss and the Sealed Temple.

How to get the three keys in Tunic

After defeating the Garden Knight and ringing the bell in the West Belltower, you can make your way back to the Sealed Temple. Interact with the doors again to enter the Temple, and then make your way through to find a large contraption in the centre. There are three slots here, each requiring a key.

There are three keys (red, green, and blue) scattered around the world in large dungeons that you must collect. The next series of guides will walk you through how to get your hands on each key and how to defeat the many bosses you'll face on this journey.

  • How to get the wand
  • Forest Fortress guide/How to get the red key
  • Siege Engine boss fight guide
  • How to get the magic orb/grappling hook in Tunic
  • Ruined Atoll guide/How to get the green key
  • Librarian boss fight guide

More guides are on the way!

That wraps up our Tunic walkthrough. If you want to know more about what we thought of this isometric action-adventure, take a look at our Tunic review to find out why we think it's "a cunning Zelda homage with a touch of Souls".

What Is The Banana Game & Why Is Everyone Playing It?

Elden ring dlc: should you finish the main story first, the ugliest pokémon of every type, ranked.

Adventuring through  Tunic 's mysterious world can be challenging, but there are some strategies players can use to make it easier. The most important thing to remember while playing through  Tunic is that there is always another secret to discover. Players can run along the sides of buildings or head toward a seemingly dead end, then find a route that leads to a new area. Finding items and instruction pages along the way is also vital to completing the adventure.

There are a few basic mechanics to learn at the start of the fox's adventure in Tunic , like how to move around, dodge, or save the game, but most of the features are hidden in the instruction booklet. The pages appear as glowing objects on the ground. Players should collect every instruction page they come across if possible because they will reveal more about how the game works and what needs to be done to progress. The instruction booklet also contains dungeon and overworld maps that will mark the fox's location.

While a lot of  Tunic 's content involves exploring every region, there are also a variety of enemies and difficult bosses to fight . There are a few different weapons to collect as players progress, but the first one they find will be the sword. After obtaining the sword, players will be able to fight off monsters and find a shield as well as a range of magic weapons to attack with. Some enemies are much harder to defeat, but players can also upgrade their stats in  Tunic .

Stats Can Be Upgraded In Tunic

Along with collecting the instruction pages, players should also spend a decent amount of time exploring each area. There are a lot of hidden paths just outside of the camera's view, so running along the sides of buildings can reveal new routes to take. Finding new paths will sometimes lead to items that can be used to  upgrade the fox's stats in  Tunic . Upgrades can be acquired by offering special items from the inventory screen to fox statues, along with an increasing amount of coins. Players are able to upgrade the fox's attack, defense, potions, health, stamina, and magic.

Tunic Has Fast Travel

Throughout  Tunic , players will discover new mechanics that can open up different paths in familiar areas. For example, the fox will pray whenever players hold down the dodge and run button for three seconds. Praying can be used to interact with pillars, golden platforms, and other objects in the overworld that can lead to new dungeons, fast traveling, or other secrets. The golden platforms in particular are what players can use to fast travel in Tunic . It's recommended that players test out different mechanics like praying if they are unable to progress to the next area.

Save Some Tunic Dungeons For Later

Tunic 's world is open to explore from the start, but certain areas are much more difficult than others. For example, players may be able to cross a bridge and enter the Quarry early on, but there are health-draining crystals inside and the enemies are much stronger than the early game creatures. Exploring is encouraged, and players will eventually need to visit every area, but holding off on the difficult dungeons is recommended. The purpose for completing areas like the Quarry will also come later in the story, so there's no need to struggle through these sections in the beginning.

Tunic's Fox Can Be Invincible

For those that don't want to search for health upgrades,  Tunic gives players the option to be invincible. To turn this feature on, players can pause the game and go into the options menu. Under the Accessibility section, the option for unlimited health and stamina can be turned on. The fox will then be invincible for as long as these features stay on. While becoming invincible can save a lot of time and effort, it can also  make the game less interesting . Players should use invincibility at their discretion while fighting through difficult enemies and finding secrets in  Tunic .
