CONCERT REVIEW: Dropkick Murphys Deliver Unforgettable Performance During Huge Amsterdam Show

After having played their last Dutch show in the summer of 2022, Dropkick Murphys returned to Amsterdam to perform a selection of their celebrated discography, including songs from the band’s latest album This Machine Still Kills Fascists . After an extensive Europe run, lasting well over a month, the stop in Amsterdam’s Ziggo Dome was the next to last on the tour. Luckily, even a month in, the energy this band delivers is superb. In these almost 30 years, a lot of songs have been created, which must be a hassle to come up with a fitting setlist for every tour. For these shows, Dropkick Murphys have decided to perform a whoppin’ 26 songs. With the arenafloor being filled to the brim and the first ring receiving the same treatment, the Ziggo Dome was fuller packed than the last time the band came around, which is an exciting trend given the fact the band’s been around nearly 3 decades. The band, known for their infectious melodies and boisterous live shows, kicked off the night with The State of Massachusetts and The Boys Are Back , two popular tunes that immediately had the crowd on their feet and singing along. Throughout the night, the band delivered a range of hits and deep cuts, including Rose Tattoo , Johnny, I Hardly Knew Ya , and I’m Shipping Up to Boston , and the new album was also featured on the setlist with a total of 4 songs including Cadillac, Cadillac , Ten Times More & The Last One , all of which were met with thunderous applause and the throwing of half-empty beercups into the air, ’cause why not. It’s not like a glass of beer costs a fortune or anything outrageous. While the genre doesn’t have the biggest appeal to my person, a Dropkick Murphys show is never to be skipped due to the unmatched atmosphere. Dropkick Murphys put on a thrilling and unforgettable concert that showcased their musical prowess and undeniable stage presence. The moshpit never halts and the beer never stops pouring, at any given time, a Dropkick Murphys show is the place to be. On the 17th of February 2023 Dropkick Murphys will return to the Ziggo Dome! Pennywise is the support act for this concert and The Rumjacks and Jesse Ahern will open the show. This is the replacement date for the concert that would have taken place on the 12th of February 2022. Tickets remain valid for this new date.  Attention: Bear in mind that it is forbidden to bring a bag with you to this show. Only handbags that aren’t bigger than the size of an A4-paper (8.27 x 11.69 inches) and no thicker than 10 cm (3.9 inches) are allowed inside. If you do bring a bag bigger than this, you will not be allowed to enter the venue. The organizer of this event will do its best to reduce queues as much as possible. We politely ask for your understanding and cooperation.

Dropkick Murphys Announce 2024 St. Patrick’s Day Tour with Pennywise

The post Dropkick Murphys Announce 2024 St. Patrick’s Day Tour with Pennywise appeared first on Consequence .

Dropkick Murphys have announced their annual “St. Patrick’s Day Tour,” and they’re bringing along Pennywise as a special guest. The outing will lead up to Dropkick Murphys’ previously announced run of Boston shows during St. Patrick’s Day week.

The tour kicks off February 13th in San Jose, California, and runs through the aforementioned four shows in Boston from March 14th through March 17th. Dublin band The Scratch will open all but the last two Boston shows.

A ticket pre-sale begins Wednesday (November 15th) at 10 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster , using a pre-sale code available by submitting your phone number to your local venue at this location . A general on-sale starts on Friday (November 17th), also via Ticketmaster . Fans can also check for deals or pick up tickets to sold-out shows via StubHub , where your purchase is 100% guaranteed through StubHub’s Fan Protect program.

Dropkick Murphys are once again playing full-on electric shows after a few acoustic outings in support of two albums — 2022’s This Machine Still Kills Fascists and 2023’s Okemah Rising — that saw the band interpreting the words of folk legend Woody Guthrie.

For this tour, Dropkick Murphys will serve as the headliner with Pennywise as the special guests, except for the February 14th show in Ontario, California, which is being billed as a co-headliner since it’s a hometown gig for Pennywise.

Dropkick Murphys announce 2024 St. Patrick’s Day tour dates

The Dropkick Murphys are shipping up to Boston next year, and they’re bringing a few friends.

The Bay State rockers announced the full lineup for their 2024 St. Patrick’s Day tour, which takes over Boston for four straight shows next year. The festivities kick off March 14 at Citizens House of Blues before heading to MGM Music Hall at Fenway March 15-17.

Joining the Dropkick Murphys on tour is Pennywise, with the punk rock group also serving as the co-headliner for the Feb. 14 show in Ontario, Calif. Dublin rock group the Scratch will also serve as the tour’s opener, which kicks off Feb. 13 in San Jose, Calif., but only through the March 15 concert in Boston.

A daytime, VIP mini-concert will also be held at MGM Music Hall March 16, with free admission for kids under 10 when accompanied by a parent or guardian with a paid ticket. Proceeds from the benefit show will go to The Claddagh Fund , an organization founded by the Dropkick Murphys that helps underfunded nonprofits.

Openers for the March 16 and 17 shows in Boston will be announced at a later date. The tour is also set to stop at the Cross Insurance Arena in Portland, Maine, March 12.

Tickets to the Dropkick Murphys’ 2024 St. Patrick’s Day tour go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. at DropkickMurphys.com . Fans who sign up for the presale ticket code can purchase tickets beginning Wednesday at 10 a.m.

I'm not a huge DKM fan, but I absolutely freaking loved their concert. Enthralled by the opening bands, and befriended all the audience members around me, as well as the venue employees. It was my first ever time getting X'd, being in a mosh pit, and crowd surfing. I danced on stage, met the band, and even did a handstand. Great energy, and good fans.

I saw the Murphys at WaMu Theatre in Seattle on August 16th. The Murphys were great and so much fun! The show started with “The Lonesome Boatman” followed by “The Boys Are Back”. Two high energy songs and the set never slowed down. I’ve seen Flogging Molly twice, and I was kind of expecting the Murphys to basically be like them, but other than both being Irish Punk, I was surprised by how different the two shows were. I will definitely be seeing the Murphys again next time they are here.

Rancid and Dropkick put on a hell of a show. The light rain through the Dropkick set in the middle of August was simply awesome and added to the fun. Rancid was the main draw for the Wife and I. Although we knew of Dropkick and their music seeing them live was incredible and gave us a whole different perspective of how fun and awesome they are. Will see them again without a doubt.

The encore...Dope!! Tim Timebomb starting solo with Folsom Prison Blues and then both bands joining in was sweet. The classic punk songs they sang together was the icing on the show. If you have a chance to catch them before their tour ends don't think twice about going. This one is a definite top 3 on my list.

The interrupters, woody guthrie, karol g announces 3 shows in mexico, starting at the iconic estadio azteca.

Okemah Rising , released by the band’s Dummy Luck Music label, is named for Woody’s hometown of Okemah, Okla. It honors the lyrics and legacy of Guthrie, who the band credits with inspiring Dropkick Murphy’s biggest release, the 2006 track “Shipping Up to Boston.” Guthrie is listed as a co-writer of that song after his daughter, Norah Guthrie, arranged for band members to review Guthrie’s catalog of writings, where they found the phrase that would become the title for the song.

The band again revisited Guthrie’s collection of unpublished songs for Okemah Rising , showcasing a more humorous side of Guthrie’s lyrical wit into adaptations that feel tailor-made for the working class anthems and stories of protest that often inhabit the Dropkick Murphys’ music. The lead single from Okemah Rising , “Bring It Home,” includes guest vocals from Jaime Wyatt , an up-and-coming Nashville singer-songwriter.

Dropkick Murphys Announce 2024 St. Patrick’s Day Tour with Pennywise

The US outing will kick off in mid-February

Dropkick Murphys have announced their annual “St. Patrick’s Day Tour,” and they’re bringing along Pennywise as a special guest. The outing will lead up to Dropkick Murphys’ previously announced run of Boston shows during St. Patrick’s Day week.

The tour kicks off February 13th in San Jose, California, and runs through the aforementioned four shows in Boston from March 14th through March 17th. Dublin band The Scratch will open all but the last two Boston shows.

A ticket pre-sale begins Wednesday (November 15th) at 10 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster , using a pre-sale code available by submitting your phone number to your local venue at this location . A general on-sale starts on Friday (November 17th), also via Ticketmaster . Fans can also check for deals or pick up tickets to sold-out shows via StubHub , where your purchase is 100% guaranteed through StubHub’s Fan Protect program.

Dropkick Murphys are once again playing full-on electric shows after a few acoustic outings in support of two albums — 2022’s This Machine Still Kills Fascists and 2023’s Okemah Rising — that saw the band interpreting the words of folk legend Woody Guthrie.

For this tour, Dropkick Murphys will serve as the headliner with Pennywise as the special guests, except for the February 14th show in Ontario, California, which is being billed as a co-headliner since it’s a hometown gig for Pennywise.
