LANGHORNE BOROUGH >> The Four Lanes End Garden Club will open up four homes dressed for the holiday season when it hosts its 58th Annual Holiday House Tour and Tea on Thursday, November 16 from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Each home on the self-guided tour will feature a distinctive theme based on the house’s style, history, etc., each decorated by members of the garden club.

This year’s tour includes:

– A 1760 original twin-home built as wedding gifts for two sisters who married within a year of each other by their father, William Huddleston. The current kitchen maintains the original footprint of the right twin, while the left twin boasts a dining room. Gigi and Scott Cowan made this their home about 30 years ago and preserved the original pine plank floors, the unique staircases to the second floor, and filled it with tasteful antiques to maintain the home’s integrity. The true labor of love will be found as you exit through the small room off the dining room. This house is sure to take your breath away as you learn why the club has themed this residence, “A Secret Garden”.

– An 1890 Victorian style that has been lovingly maintained and restored by its past and present owners. The house still maintains its original pocket doors, flooring, and carved staircase woodwork. The kitchen showcases the lifestyle of the time with a bell ringing system for servants from each bedroom (Downton Abbey style). Many original stained glass windows adorn the home’s gracious rooms. The theme, “O Tannenbaum,” suggests that one might find elements of the traditional Christmas tree – ornaments and other decorations – throughout each room. In honor of the present owner’s heritage, the club invites guests to take a stroll through a progressive Italian-style Christmas Eve dinner, from cocktails in the bar to Italian desserts and espresso in the kitchen. Italians, even in America, often have a traditional “feast of the seven fishes” dinner on Christmas Eve. Don’t leave before viewing the outdoor kitchen on the rear part of the wraparound porch.

– A lovely carriage house, built in 2007, which is quintessentially classic and enchanting. To fit its theme of “An Enchanting and Iridescent Christmas,” the home creates a stunning iridescence using the colors of teal, copper and cream. A beautiful display of teal collectibles, dark wood furniture and a peacock picture and wreath create a warm and harmonious environment. The tables are set with the homeowners’ china collection, and Mrs. Cirigliano’s childhood nativity set and copper tree will be on display. Notice the handmade iridescent and quilled ornaments on the Christmas tree. The flower arrangements will also reflect and interpret the use of iridescent colors throughout the house. Everyone will leave this house with an enchanted Christmas feeling.

– A circa 1740 stone house with a large addition built circa 1810 to provide for more “modern”, comfortable living. For many years, this property was a 184-acre dairy farm. Take note of its two carriage houses, one with a steeple that looks like an old school house (c.1807-13) and the other a former barn. Also notice period details inside the Marte residence such as the unique front door, wide windowsills, pine floors, and three beautiful fireplaces. The theme, “A Picture-esque Christmas,” lends itself to the goal of creating a charming, delightful atmosphere that reflects the beauty of the holiday season. Look for frames of all styles and sizes displayed throughout the house in imaginative ways. Come on in and enjoy this “picture” perfect house.

The tour ticket also includes formal Tea at the Middletown Country Club, which will feature a “Happily Ever After” wedding celebration theme. As guests arrive at the club, the porch will be set for the loving couple to exchange their vows. The forever-important moment “you may now kiss the bride” will be held under a beautiful hand-made kissing ball.

Inside the reception area, a Christmas tree will be adorned with white lace flowers, decorated gift boxes, glass balls with lace and pearls and small floral bouquets. Tables will be set with antique-style birdcages filled with white flowers and candles set all around. And a tea table will take center stage with a large five arm candelabra.

The bride’s vanity table will be dressed with all the things she will need for her finishing touches to make her special day picture perfect.

Guests can take a break from the tour here, relax and enjoy delicious homemade cookies and treats – all baked by club members – with a hot cup of tea or coffee. Also, many gift baskets will be available for raffle chances.

Guests are also invited to the Country Store inside the Richardson House (Maple and Bellevue avenues), where they can shop for various handmade holiday items, decorations and gifts.

The Holiday House Tour and Tea is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the Four Lanes End Garden Club. Tour proceeds go toward ongoing maintenance of the grounds at historic Richardson House (the club’s meeting place), community beautification projects, two student scholarships and various local charities.

FLEGC meetings, held on the fourth Tuesday of the month (from September to May), expand members’ interests and knowledge with a variety of programs. For additional club information, visit www.langhornegardenclub.com.

Tickets can be purchased for $20 in advance (by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, November 15) from any garden club member, or at the following participating Langhorne vendors: Judy’s Corner (Bellevue Avenue); St. Mary’s Community Thrift and Yellow Daffodil (Pine Watson Shopping Center). Tickets also will be sold on the day of the tour for $25 at the Richardson House and the Middletown Country Club.

Christmas Lights in Bucks County to See This Holiday Season

Bucks County is full of fun holiday lights displays to see. Whether you’re looking for an amazing drive-through light show or neighbors who go all-out to decorate their homes for the season, the area has so much to offer. There are giant Santas, the Twelve Days of Christmas, and even Baby Yoda. Take a look at some of our favorite Christmas lights in Bucks County to get you in the holiday spirit.

We do our best to verify the residential displays every year. Please let us know if you find that a house no longer has a light display.

Shady Brook Farm

Overhead view of a drive-thru Christmas light trail at night.

One of the best drive-through holiday lights shows near Philadelphia is Shady Brook Farm. The 3 million lights include everything from Santa’s workshop to a Bucks County covered bridge. The dedicated radio station, 90.7FM, plays carols and holiday standards for visitors to hear as they drive through the display.

In addition to the holiday light show , which stretches for over a mile, there are lots of other seasonal activities. There are plenty of snacks and hot drinks for adults and kids, plus visits with Santa, fire pits, and more. The festivities always stretch into January if you want to keep the Christmas spirit into the new year (and miss the crowds!).

Banas Family Light Show

Lit figurines at a house at night.

Bartlett Court in Yardley is home to one of the best displays around–the Banas Family Light Show. Pull into the cul de sac and set your radio to 93.5 FM. You’ll hear “Feliz Navidad,” “Frosty the Snowman,” and more as the synchronized lights change with the music. The lights are on nightly from 5-10pm.

The Moores’ Christmas Display

Yard packed with Christmas and winter illuminated figurines beside a house covered in lights.

This yard packed with lights and figurines is one of the best displays we’ve seen. We actually gasped as we turned the corner and saw it ahead of us. From ice skating penguins to flying reindeer and Santa in his sleigh, there is lots to see here. Every inch of shrubbery and trees is also covered in lights, which makes it all shine even brighter.

Light Up 394

Inflatable animals surrounded by lights.

The generous family at Light Up 394 goes all out for the season. Their Candy Lane Zoo features dozens of inflatable animals and an aquarium scene plus light tunnels in a walk thru display.

The lights are just part of what they do, though–Santa makes appearances, and you may find goody bags to add to the magic. If you leave a letter for Santa with a return address in the mailbox, you’ll even get a reply! Check their Facebook page for the schedule.

The family collects donations for Alpha Bravo Canine, an organization that provides service dogs to disabled veterans. See the QR code sign in the yard to contribute.

Wellington Drive Holiday Lights

langhorne holiday house tour 2022

Few houses shine brighter than this home on Wellington Drive. Playful penguins, Disney characters, and snowmen dot the front yard, and the whole house is covered in lights.

Jones Family Christmas Display

Illuminated presents, snowmen, and other decorations in a front yard.

It’s hard to know where to look first at the Jones Family Christmas Display in Hatboro. Presents, trains, illuminated snowmen, and lit up Christmas trees plus seasonal music make this one of the most elaborate displays. It’s no wonder that it’s an award winner.

Colonial Drive Lights

Elaborate residential Christmas light display.

Seeing the lights on Colonial Drive is an annual tradition for many families around Langhorne. The lights come on every night at 5pm throughout the holiday season and last until 10pm.

This year brings a change to Colonial Drive Lights , which has moved to an innovative light projection rather the synchronized show they have been known for in the past (note that our photo is from a previous year). The music is available at 92.1FM, and it also plays at a low level right outside the house, so you can enjoy the songs even if you’re not in the car.

Each year, the owners select a charity for donations–this year is Make a Wish. See the Venmo code to make a contribution.

Christmas Stories in Doylestown

House covered in holiday lights with a Christmas tree, statues, and decorations in the yard.

This house in Doylestown is incredible and a highlight of seeing Christmas lights in Bucks County. The whole yard is full of every Christmas story you can imagine.

From The Bible to National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation to Die Hard , there are lights, statues, displays, and dioramas depicting ALL the Christmas tales. If you’re looking for Mickey and Minnie, the kid with his tongue stuck to a flagpole, or Buddy the Elf, this is your spot. Classics like ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas are included, too.

Inflatables on Farber

Inflated Christmas lawn decorations, including a Santa.

If you like inflatables, don’t miss this display. Dozens of characters from Baby Yoda to Mickey Mouse fill the front yard. You’ll see Frosty and Rudolph on a Ferris wheel, a North Pole shuttle, and The Grinch hanging out in the background. A little bit of music and light projections complete the show.

Santa’s Place on Limekiln

Christmas light display including arches, trees, and an inflatable snowman at night.

This sprawling front yard has a little bit of everything for Christmas lovers. A large Santa greets visitors beside lit trees, candy canes, snowmen, and even a scrolling message of Christmas cheer. There are plenty of inflatables and lights to enjoy. Be aware that cars move pretty quickly here, so you may want to put your hazard lights on to drive by slowly and appreciate the Christmas light display.

Peddler’s Village

Trees and gazebo lit up with holiday lights at night

One of the most impressive holiday lights displays in Bucks County is Peddlers Village in Lahaska. Across the shopping center , the trees, gazebo, and buildings are lit along with special displays for the season. In total, 1 million lights decorate the property at Christmastime and light the way for people shopping, dining, and enjoying all the holiday events like the gingerbread display and visits with Santa.

Green Heather Lights Show

House decorated with snowflake-shaped Christmas lights and lit up candy canes and trees in the yard.

The Grinch, Frosty, Santa, and more beloved characters make an appearance at the Green Heather Lights projection show. The family-friendly show features computer-animated LED lights synchronized to music. One of the more ambitious residential Christmas lights shows, they have their own radio station—87.FM—that plays along with the lights as they change color and patterns.

This year, Tuesday nights feature Disney songs all night, and Thursdays are dedicated to Star Wars . The show starts at 5pm and repeats every 30 minutes until 9:30.

Walking in a Winter Wonderland

House covered in Christmas lights with numerous lights and holiday-themed statues in the yard

Every inch of this house in Perkasie seems to be covered in lights and Christmas characters. With musicians, carolers, and Nutcrackers positioned among thousands of lights, the homeowners have taken great pains to make the space entertaining and welcoming.

As you walk by the house, there are so many things to see. A swing is specially decorated for visitors who want to take photos. Then there are light sculptures, figurines, signs, and lots of Christmas cheer.

Langhorne Holiday House Tour & Tea Set For Thursday

langhorne holiday house tour 2022

The Four Lanes End Garden Club will host its 56th annual Holiday House Tour and Tea this week.

The annual event will take place Thursday, November 19 from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Two newer and two historic homes in Langhorne – four in all – will be open for tour guests, and will be decorated for the season by Four Lanes End Garden Club members.

As always, each home on the self-guided tour has a distinctive theme, based on the house’s style and history.

Here is a rundown of the home on the tour:

  • A large townhouse built in 2007 on land originally owned by the Newbold family. The home has an open space design with a living room, dining room, kitchen and family room on the first floor. With the theme “Reflections of Christmas,” the floral arrangements and Christmas décor created by Garden Club members will enhance the home’s unique color scheme of turquoise walls and bright white trim.
  • A 2002 brick center-hall Colonial on a quaint cul-de-sac with theme “A Traditional Christmas.”
  • An 1891 Victorian on N. Bellevue Ave. with the theme “A Wish Come True at Christmas.” It is believed that the home was owned by Langhorne Standard editors/publishers and brothers George and Charles Fetterolf.
  • A circa-1858 home on W. Maple Ave., with original Second Empire-style slate mansard roof. Recognized by its purple shutters and trim, the home was the town’s first drugstore, and later hosted the International Order of Odd Fellows (1876), a service fraternity started in England to help the less fortunate (considered odd at the time – hence the name). Original to the home are three fireplaces — one with Mercer tiles; a water closet in the cellar (unusual at this time); and pumpkin pine floors. The house’s theme is “Memories of a White Christmas.”

The tour ticket includes formal Tea at the Middletown Country Club. The theme is “Heartfelt Holiday,” according to a press release. Guests can break from the tour to partake in baked goods prepared by club members and hot drinks. There will also be a basket raffle.

Guests also are invited to the Country Store at Richardson House at the corner of Maple and Bellevue avenues. At the historic building, guests can shop for  handmade holiday items, decorations and gifts, according to organizers.

The Holiday House Tour and Tea is the largest fundraiser for the Four Lanes End Garden Club. Tour proceeds go toward ongoing maintenance of the grounds at historic Richardson House, the club’s meeting place, community beautification projects, two student scholarships, and various local charities.

The Four Lanes End Garden Club, began in 1957 and is a crucial organization. Meetings, held on the fourth Tuesday of each month, expands members’ interests and knowledge with a variety of programs. The club’s website is: www.langhornegardenclub.com .

Tickets can be purchased for $20 in advance by 5 p.m. on Wed., Nov. 18 from any Garden Club member, or at the following participating Langhorne vendors: St. Mary’s Community Thrift; Judy’s Corner; Langhorne Coffee House; and Dance Ten. Tickets will be sold on the day of the tour for $25 at Richardson House, and at Middletown Country Club.

For tickets and information, contact Darlene Helicke at 215-757-8931.
