About Janet Jackson

Janet Jackson is one of the most influential entertainers of the modern era. Her music has won her 5 GRAMMY® Awards, 2 Emmy Awards, a Golden Globe Award, a nomination for an Academy Award along with dozens of American Music Awards, MTV Video Music Awards and Billboard Music Awards. She has received accolades as an actress as well including the NAACP Best Supporting Actor award. Janet is a published author, dancer, businessperson, philanthropist and one of biggest-selling artists in popular music history. With sales of over 180 million records worldwide, Janet Jackson stands as one of the best-selling artists of all time with a string of hits that have left an indelible impression on pop culture. She is the record holder for the biggest selling debut tour in history and is the first woman to debut in the Top 10 of the Hot 100 charts. She also stands as one of only four artists to have a #1 album for four successive decades alongside Barbra Streisand, Bruce Springsteen and U2. Even today she continues to make an undeniable impact. In 2018, her last single, “Made for Now” with Daddy Yankee, released by her own Rhythm Nation Records, hit #1 on the Dance Clubs Songs chart making it her 20th single on the chart in the span of her career. In 2019, she was inducted the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame alongside her brothers and in that same year her critically acclaimed Las Vegas residency, “Metamorphosis” closed out to record breaking ticket sales with only 18 dates at the Park MGM’s Park Theater. As reported by Billboard Boxscore, the legendary singer, dancer, songwriter, producer, and actress is among the biggest Vegas performers of this decade, ahead of Celine Dion (2011), Britney Spears (2013) and the Backstreet Boys (2017). Her critically acclaimed and award winning documentary “Janet Jackson.” brought in over 20 million viewers in one week.

On February 4, 2021, Janet Jackson’s iconic mega platinum-selling third album Control turned 35. The album also returned to the top of the charts, hitting #1 on the Apple Top 40 US Pop Album chart. Led by five chart-busting hit singles — “What Have You Done for Me Lately,” “Nasty,” “Control,” “When I Think Of You,” —with their complementary, tightly choreographed music videos — and “Let’s Wait Awhile,” Control became Jackson’s first No. 1 Pop album. The album also made Billboard chart history for having the longest continuous run on the Hot 100 with singles from one album, ultimately tallying a remarkable 65 consecutive weeks from that perch. To date, Control has sold more than 10 million copies worldwide.

About Chris “Ludacris” Bridges

The career of the multi-talented CHRIS “LUDACRIS” BRIDGES can best be described as remarkable. As a recording artist, he has sold more than 24 million albums worldwide, thanks to the blockbuster success of such singles as “Stand Up,” “Get Back,” “Southern Hospitality,” “Number One Spot,” “Money Maker” and “My Chick Bad.” All of these records were accompanied by ingenious videos that demonstrated Bridges’ far-reaching imagination, and his willingness to stretch the boundaries of what rap videos should look and feel like.

With an unrivaled match of lyrical acumen, wit, and imagery, Ludacris has solidified himself as one of music’s premier entertainers. His versatility and artistic complexity also enabled him to make a seamless transition to acting, including the fan favorite role of “Tej” in Universal Pictures’ box office phenomenon Fast & Furious franchise where he was introduced for the first time in 2003 in 2 Fast 2 Furious.  He will reprise his role of “Tej” for the seventh time in Fast X, which is set to release May 20, 2023.

His other notable feature film credits include Garry Marshall’s ensemble comedy New Year’s Eve, Ivan Reitman’s romantic comedy, No Strings Attached, Paul Higgin’s Crash which received an Academy Award for Best Picture in 2006 and Hustle & Flow which earned Bridges a SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.

As a father of four girls, his latest ventures fittingly include launching his educational platform devoted to the enrichment of children called “KidNation”.  In addition, Bridges created the animated series KARMA’S WORLD which launched in the Top 10 in 42 countries on Netflix, received two NAACP Award nominations and is already on its fourth season.  The series for children ages 6-9 is a coming-of-age story about a young Black girl finding her voice and using it to change her world — originally inspired by Chris’s oldest daughter Karma and based on the interactive educational website of the same name created by Karma’s World Entertainment in 2009.

A consummate businessman, Ludacris is enjoying success outside of entertainment. One of his most successful ventures includes opening his long-anticipated restaurant “Chicken-n-Beer” at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Airport with a new location opening at LAX in 2023.

Bridge’s philanthropic efforts rival his entertainment accomplishments. He started The Ludacris Foundation in 2001 which focuses on helping the youth in his hometown of Atlanta and has partnered with No Kid Hungry and Feeding America.

What don’t Janet get, he f***** up the music. He was rude to her on mtv. Songs horrible..She needs to call Kanye back. So he can do a full album for her.

' src=

What are you even talking about? JD didn’t do the new song and Do It to Me has been a fan favorite since 20YO…

' src=

Chile, you can’t tell these people anything. they still will deny this woman’s brilliance, and that’s okay, her career speaks for itself…her legacy speaks for itself….all roads lead back to Janet….every female artist new and old will say that they were inspired by Janet…it’s no denying that.

' src=

The song is a whispery mess. This is should not be the first single Janet.

When you become a producer, writer, and on her payroll then you can perhaps negotiate what she shoulld or shouldn’t release, but right now you’re none of the above and in fact you can’t produce, write or direct you own life…so shut it.

' src=

I love Janet but I don’t dig the new song. I need some up tempo fierceness

' src=

I can barely hear anything. Sounds like a cute vibe though

' src=

I’m a huge Janet fan, but I could barely understand what she was saying on the new song, and we need up tempo Janet. Would love to see a collaboration with an artist like Doja Cat, Bruno Mars, or even maybe SZA

If you low budget nobodies stop judging and let her do her then you all will be better in your lives. She’s not chasing clout like FARTonce, she doesn’t need to work with or is attempting to work with these newer artist to get in on their relevancy like COPYonce does. She has spoken with Bruno Mars many times about working together she admires and respect him and his work and he admires and has been a fan of hers for decades, inspired by her and Mike….Janet allows these new artist to enjoy their own new found fame and is not trying to get a hit record off of their relevancy, you only see that in people like madonna and beyawnce because they rely on ways of trying to stay relevant.

' src=

She needs to whisper louder

Chile yall been talking about her soft voice and whispering $150 Million Records sold ago…(I hope you caught that) If you didn’t, Janet has an Oscar Nomination, Grammys, American Music Award, Billboard Awards, Rock N Roll Hall of Fame, etc., to back up that whispering along with a bank account that if I could whisper and make millions I would too.

' src=

The new song doesn’t grab me right away As usual I like the melody on the hook. It’s catchy I wanted more upbeat too but Janet I kno likes to lead w a laidback single n then come upbeat on the next

' src=

Not feeling it…. The crowds was so loud. But She killed it tho.

' src=

I couldn’t hear a thing seriously. Turn up the volume.

' src=

Hot mess as always 💅🏾 should’ve brought Justin Timberlake to the stage and apologized for what she did to him on halftime show. #JUSTICE FOR JUSTIN

' src=

You trailor park trash, stop hating and f*** Justin!

' src=

No. F Janet the stripping grandma.

' src=

In what world are you live in ?

' src=

I’ll hold my opinion for when I can hear it in full.

' src=

Even as a big fan, I can give honest criticism, and I have to say I like this song already. I hear enough elements to know that this is going to sound great over the stereo. Only thing I don’t know is if it will hold my interest all summer. I thought I loved her last album and now I listen to only one or two songs from it.

How you like a song you can barely hear? lol

Glad to see night 1 of Atlanta started off with a bang. Let’s see if she shows up at the Hawks game…the best free tour press ever!!!

' src=

Love what I’m hearing of the new song so far! Feels fresh but also not chasing any trends… she is 56, not 30 something, you all want her to be giving you booty bangers its not gonna happen – when she was you didn’t support. Your loss!

I’m grateful Janet even chooses to do any of this and will support any new music that she decides to release… would I love a club banger! YES! but I’m not going to demand it or be disappointed if she does something that represents where she is at in her life NOW. its not 2004 or 2006 or 2008 anymore.

Janet Jackson Crashes Jimmy Fallon's Tonight Show Monologue — and Gives Him an Impromptu Dance Lesson!

The singer helped Fallon learn the 'Rhythm Nation' countdown after catching him “messing up” the choreography

Janet Jackson knows how to get an audience on their feet!

On April 12, the pop icon, 57, stopped by The Tonight Show to crash Jimmy Fallon ’s opening monologue, and the crowd went wild.

Fallon, 49, kicked off the Friday night episode by attempting Jackson’s iconic “Rhythm Nation” countdown and choreography — before the singer herself cut in.

As Fallon continued his impression of the performer, she emerged from the Tonight Show curtains and slowly snuck up behind the host, imitating his moves.

The crowd jumped to their feet to give Jackson a standing ovation, and Fallon, excited by the enthusiastic response, said, “Come on, now! That’s what I’m talking about!”

The host then attempted to ask the singer why she stopped by, but the crowd drowned him out with their cheering as Jackson grinned from ear to ear.

After several seconds, Fallon was finally able to get a word in, and asked the star, “Why did you grace us with your presence?”

Still smiling, the star revealed that she was in New York City to rehearse for the upcoming dates of her global Together Again Tour , which earned another enthusiastic round of cheering from the crowd.

“By the way, I want to thank everyone for making this the most successful tour to date in my career,” she added.

Telling Fallon about the 35 new summer dates — which she announced in January — the musician teased that there will be “new surprises” and “definitely new music” this time around.

She also asked the comedian why he was “out here messing up my stuff," before correcting his countdown choreography.

"I gotta teach you how to do this properly. Listen, and then I gotta get back to rehearsal,” she said, before jokingly instructing Fallon how to count down from five, grabbing each finger one by one.

And, as Jackson headed backstage, Fallon joked, “I’m never washing this hand again!”

‘Jermaine Dupri Just Fell to His Knees’: Janet Jackson’s Late Night with Q-Tip Sends Internet Into Frenzy

Social media was abuzz when online users learned that rapper Q-Tip spent his 54th birthday with his ex-girlfriend Janet Jackson.

The pop star took to her Instagram to express just how special she believes the A Tribe Called Quest founding member is. Fans immediately began to speculate whether the “Rhythm Nation” chart-topper was simply enjoying time with a dear friend or rekindling their romance.

If the latter is the case, some are asking what about Jermaine Dupri?

Janet Jackson said ex- Q-Tip came over to celebrated his 54th birthday with her as fans bring up her more recent ex, Jermaine Dupri.

Jackson’s post was simple, “30 + yrs of friendship…so special to me. Thank you for coming over last night. Happy bday,” but it caused quite an eruption and had her trending online.

She also tagged the rapper, @qtiptheabstract, in her Instagram Story which featured a dramatic but stylish black-and-white picture of him. Her message was punctuated with kissy face emojis.

“Janet spinning the block with Q-Tip,” one X user posted .

Another fan believed the two would not only be perfect together but would make all things right in the world, “There’s a parallel universe where Janet and Q-Tip are married and I bet climate change isn’t a problem there.”

One person wrote, “It was always supposed to be them for mi!”

Jermaine Dupri just fell to his knees https://t.co/dDPB3iFZar — 🌹RoseGawd🌹 (@djrosegawd) April 10, 2024

After years of never saying a word publicly about their relationship, Q-Tip spilled some tea about their coupling around the time of their meeting on the set of John Singleton’s “Poetic Justice.” In the 1993 film he played Markel, Janet’s gang-banging, drug dealer boyfriend who was shot in the car during a movie date. Janet was married at the time to René Elizondo Jr., whom she divorced in 2003.

Q-Tip said they met for the first time on set and years later she called him up to do their 1997 collaboration, “Got ‘Til It’s Gone,” and another song.

“We started dating after that,” the Abstract said during Math Hoffa’s “My Expert Opinion” show.

He gushed about how great it was for him as a kid from Linden Boulevard. dating one of the most beloved girls from his childhood.

“It be cool and sh-t. She be making eggs and sh-t and I’ll be chilling like, ‘Yo, that’s Penny!’ to myself,” he flexed. “I love her to death and she’s a Jackson — that’s Black royalty.”

The two dated and ultimately broke up in 2002. Jackson’s post did not have any romantic connotations, but fans breezed past that tidbit and clung to the narrative that the two might be getting back together. This also arrives nearly a year after many expressed excitement about what seemed to be a reunion with the SoSo Def founder.

“Jermaine Dupri just fell to his knees,” one X user said in a post .

Someone then informed the thread, “You know he dated her during ‘The Velvet Rope’ era right? That’s why the sound is like that. Also Tupac hated him cuz she loved some Tip.”

That was followed up with, “That’s why he just gotta take his lick in silence. Q-Tip is the GOAT what is Jermaine gonna do? Kamaal is 6′ and can fight. He’s also over Jermaine to me in producer lists lol.”

Jermaine and Janet dated right after Tip says the two of them called it quits in 2002. However, in 2009, just months preceding the tragic passing of her brother, Michael Jackson, she and JD broke up. The “Welcome to Atlanta” rapper admitted that one of the reasons was due to his infidelity and being flagrant about his indiscretions.

Janet did not disagree — but she has never confirmed. But in her self-titled A&E documentary, she revealed that she wanted to marry Dupri, who later claimed that he never wanted to record with her on Gillie the King and Wallo 267’s “Million Dollaz Worth of Game” podcast.

“I never wanted to produce her. We got into an argument about me not producing her because she was around me watching everybody else get hit records,” he said explaining he didn’t want her to think he just wanted to elevate his career.

JD was spotted at Janet’s 56th birthday bash  in 2022. In April 2023, the “Someone to Call My Lover” collaborators seemed like they might spinning the block after he made a surprise appearance on her “Together Again” tour stop in Atlanta.

After Jackson’s October performance at the One Music Festival in Atlanta, clips were made of the couple canoodling out with Ashanti and Nelly on what looked like a double date.

This was the second time they linked up. But maybe Jermaine, who boasts about taking the “Nasty” recording artist to strip clubs, was too dramatic .

One fan thought that might be the case when the producer was talking to his daughter about why he and her mother broke up .

“Girl hush yo daddy tryna spin da block on Janet… this gon be the second time you mess it up for them,” one fan joked.

But maybe … the person was right.

Hawks force Game 6 against Boston Celtics, postponing Janet Jackson concert in Atlanta

janet jackson together again tour atlanta

Janet Jackson fans may want to "scream" after the Atlanta Hawks ' Game 5 win.

Hawks star Trae Young knocked down a 30-foot three pointer with 2.1 seconds left in  regulation to defeat the Celtics, 119-117, in Boston. The first-round series now shifts back to Atlanta's State Farm Arena for Game 6 on Thursday as the Celtics lead the series 3-2.

That presented a scheduling conflict.  Jackson's "Together Again" tour was originally scheduled to take place at State Farm Arena on Thursday, but attendees were informed by email that the show has been postponed one day to accommodate the Hawks.

"Due to the Atlanta Hawks playoff game, the Janet Jackson show originally scheduled for Thursday, April 27 at State Farm Arena has been moved to Friday, April 28," Live Nation said in a statement. "All tickets for Thursday night’s show will be honored for Friday night. Refunds will be available at point of purchase for those who are unable to attend."

OPINON:   It's time to stop asking questions about Trae Young’s future in Atlanta

The Hawks pulled off the comeback win without  guard Dejounte Murray , who served a suspension on Tuesday following a confrontation with referee Gediminas Petraitis on Sunday.

"This is such an exciting time for the city with world-class events between Hawks Playoff basketball, Janet Jackson and Taylor Swift in downtown Atlanta," Trey Feazell, the executive vice president of arena programming for State Farm Arena, said in a statement. "We are committed to ensuring all of our guests have a great night out at each of our events and are working with our partners to provide the most seamless experience possible."

After the win, Murray said Young told him to "Be READY Game 6" because the team's season wasn't ending just yet. Young kept his promise following a 38 point, 13 assist performance.

"LETS HEAD BACK TO ATLANTA!" Murray tweeted after the Game 5 win. "I Love My Team. ALL FIGHT Against All Odds!!!! ATLANTA VS EVERYBODY!!!!!!!"

Jackson's tour marks the first time the Grammy award winner is back on a stage since 2019, but her fans in Atlanta will have to wait one more day.
