1.  Big Bus New York Hop-On Hop-Off Tour

First time exploring the wonderful city that is New York? This comprehensive, fully narrated tour allows you to customize your itinerary to just how you want it, boarding and leaving whenever it’s convenient for you. Vouchers can be redeemed in Times Square, where the tour begins. Choose from two circuits: the 90-minute Downtown Loop, which visits neighborhoods such as Little Italy and Chinatown and attractions like the Stock Exchange and the World Trade Center; and the 75-minute Uptown Loop, which includes classic New York spots like Lincoln Center, Rockefeller Center and the Apollo Theatre. Think of it as a handy little passport to discovering all the best of this fascinating city.

THE RIDE New York City

2.  THE RIDE New York City

Double-decker bus tour not your thing? Amp up your usual sightseeing excursion with this dynamic part-show, part-city tour. Yes, it’s as wild and wonderful as it sounds. The multi-million-dollar bus (yep, you heard that right) offers outward-facing stadium seating with floor-to-ceiling glass windows. Billed as a “traveling theater,” the uniquely designed bus allows riders to take photos of top attractions ( the Chrysler Building, Grand Central Terminal) and interact with street performers during the 75-minute ride. It's a blast.

New York Bus Night Tour

3.  New York Bus Night Tour

If New York is the city that never sleeps (which it totally is, btw), it makes sense to experience it in all its nighttime glory. This after-hours tour starts in midtown Manhattan, then drives past iconic and illuminated landmarks like the Empire State Building, Times Square and Chinatown, with expert commentary on the city’s history and celebrity residents along the way. There will also be time to stretch your legs during the four-hour excursion, with guided walks in High Line Park and Grand Central Station. And trust us, all those glittering, gleaming views of Manhattan at night are just as glorious as billed.

Sex and the City Hotspots Tour

4.  Sex and the City Hotspots Tour

Has there been a better unofficial NYC spokesperson than Carrie Bradshaw herself? This bus tour pays homage to the New York-loving sex columnist by spotlighting all of the hotspots from the original stint of the hit HBO show. (Alas, locations from the  And Just Like That  reboot aren’t featured, so no Che Diaz sightings here!) B oard the bus and get reacquainted with some of your favorite Sex and the City settings, like Steve and Aidan's bar Scout — where you can stop to sip a Cosmo, of course — the Pleasure Chest, where Charlotte bought her 'Rabbit' vibrator, and Carrie’s iconic stoop. Jimmy Choos optional!

Brooklyn, Bronx and Queens Coach Tour

5.  Brooklyn, Bronx and Queens Coach Tour

Manhattan may get a lot of the glory, but this comprehensive tour (it lasts for four-and-a-half hours) takes you through three equally deserving boroughs that made New York, well, New York. (Sorry, Staten Island!) Board in midtown and drive north through the Upper East Side to Spanish Harlem and the Bronx. Check out Yankee Stadium and the Italian enclave on Arthur Avenue before crossing into Queens. You’ll drive through Astoria and Long Island City before entering Brooklyn, where you’ll explore trendy ‘hoods including Greenpoint and Williamsburg. There’s just enough time left to drive over the iconic Brooklyn Bridge for one last look at the New York City skyline. Lush .

Birthplace of Hip Hop Tour - Harlem & The Bronx

6.  Birthplace of Hip Hop Tour - Harlem & The Bronx

Like R euben sandwiches, eggs Benedict and Martin Scorsese, hip-hop was born right here in New York City. Discover the origins of the groundbreaking musical genre on this bus tour of Manhattan, Harlem and the Boogie Down Bronx . Led by a grandmaster —no, not Flash, but similarly legendary emcees like Kurtis Blow, Johnny Famous, Roxanne Shante and Reggie Reg — the excursion starts at the location of the first hip-hop party in Manhattan before heading uptown to iconic spots like the Apollo Theater, the Graffiti Hall of Fame and Yankee Stadium. You’ll get to watch a real b-boy and b-girl dance session, snap photos in front of famous murals dedicated to Big L and Kool Herc, and even learn how to freestyle!

Superhero Film Tour of New York

7.  Superhero Film Tour of New York

From Spider-Man to Batman to Jessica Jones , New York City has played home to many a superhero. On this sightseeing tour, you’ll see around 40 locations featured in your favorite super-powered TV shows and movies, from the setting of the Battle of New York in The Avengers to The Daily Planet building from the Superman franchise to the exact spot where Danny Rand flips over a cab in Iron Fist . This is one fascinating exploration that will make superhero fans and comic-book buffs very happy indeed.

Sunday Harlem Gospel Guided Tour

8.  Sunday Harlem Gospel Guided Tour

Explore the culture of Harlem, one of the meccas of Black-American identity, on this guided tour. The tour visits both iconic and lesser-known attractions, such as  Columbia University, the Cotton Club and the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture. After visiting the Apollo Theater, where Michael Jackson once performed, and the famous stretch of 125th Street, where Duke Ellington lived, guests will be welcomed by a local congregation to participate in a Gospel mass.

Gossip Girl Bus Sites Tour

9.  Gossip Girl Bus Sites Tour

“Spotted at Grand Central, bags in hand” is the opening line of the New York-centric hit show Gossip Girl . And this is a big “XOXO” to the city and its super-elite, showcasing a number of memorable locations from the hit teen drama. Follow in the footsteps of Blair Waldorf , Serena van der Woodsen and the rest of the Constance Billard crew and explore many of the show’s glamorous locations on this three-hour bus tour, including The Empire Hotel (where Chuck Bass lived and worked), the Vera Wang boutique where Blair tried on her wedding gown and, of course, those iconic steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where you can take a photo op.

The Sopranos Filming Locations Bus Tour

10.  The Sopranos Filming Locations Bus Tour

First thing’s first: yes, we know that The Sopranos largely takes place in New Jersey. But just like Jersey residents proudly tout “NJ/NYC” in their Instagram bios, we’re going to lovingly co-opt the crime drama as our own. Starting in midtown Manhattan and crossing over into the Garden State, this Jersey-set tour will feature key locations from the Mafia-inspired HBO series, including the diner where Chris was shot, the spot where Big Pussy spoke with the FBI and the booth in Tony’s restaurant where the final episode was filmed. You’ll also catch a glimpse of Satin Dolls (the Bada Bing bar).

Airports & Entry

Planning tips, restaurants & eating out, nightlife & entertainment, getting around, accommodations.

There are three airports in New York City: John F Kennedy International Airport, La Guardia Airport, and Newark Liberty International Airport.

To get from the JFK Airport to the city, take the AirTrain, which links to the subway, and will take you to Manhattan in one hour by the cost of $2,75. Or use the service of an express bus to Grand Central Terminal or Port Authority, which takes 1,5 hours and costs $18.

You can also take a taxi from the taxi dispatch booths or use services, such as Uber. The flat taxi fare is $52, excluding tolls, tips, and rush hour surcharge.

La Guardia is the closest airport to Manhattan, and still, least accessible by public transport. You can take an express bus #Q70, which will bring you to the 74 th St – Broadway metro station, and will cost you $15. Or take a cab, which will cost approximately $34 – $53, excluding tolls and tips.

From Newark Liberty Airport, take the AirTrain to Newark Airport train station, and then, take any train to New York Penn Station for $13. Taxi fares range from $60 to $80, excluding tolls and tips.

You should promptly consider your plans for the Big Apple, before you pack your luggage. Are you going for a picnic in the Central Park? Are you planning to visit a musical, an opera, or a theatre performance? Are you going to dine in a luxury top-end restaurant on the Fifth?

Consider all your wants and needs for your trip to New York, not only to pack everything you might need, but also to get tickets in advance. Keep in mind, the most popular places and events can be highly overbooked during the high season (summer, vacation time, and during the holiday season).

New York City might have its disadvantages, but you’ll never get hungry in the Big Apple, that’s for sure. Countless cafes, bars, bistros, and restaurants cater for every taste and budget. Italian, Asian, Middle Eastern, Greek, French, Mexican – the variety of cuisines available is outstanding.

From small family cafes to large international restaurant chains, from fast food to luxury “haute couture” cuisine, from street food of all kinds to extravagant restaurants with huge booking lists. To get the best taste of NYC, we would recommend taking a guided NYC food tour .

  • Cheesecake New York
  • Long Island Ice Tea

If you are on a budget, don’t miss the markets: Chelsea and Fulton 55, where you can find all kinds of New York street food, as well as numerous budget cafes. To get the best taste of NYC, we would recommend taking a guided NYC food tour .

New bars and clubs open and close in New York City all the time. Every district is filled with night entertainment facilities. If you are in Manhattan, head to Greenwich Village. There are plenty of places, popular with locals, mostly NYU students. Chelsea and Lower East Side are other popular nightlife spots in the heart of the Big Apple. However, if you are staying in Brooklyn, Queens, or Staten Island, don’t worry, you won’t feel the lack of sparkling New York nightlife.

New York City has the name of the world capital of jazz, and it is probably true. The city has expired many world famous jazz musicians in the past, and nowadays, it has countless settings, where you can listen to good jazz music, while enjoying a drink with your friends or a date.

Probably, the most famous jazz club in the world is the Blue Note in Greenwich Village. And the Village Vanguard, which dates back to 1935, is another popular spot in the district for jazz admirers. However, if you can’t afford such top-end places, take a look at Smalls or Fat Cat, situated also in Greenwich Village, just a block from each other, which keep their charges quite reasonable.

Salsa, although originates from Cuba, also draws numerous dance lovers to New York City clubs. If you find yourself into passionate Afro-Caribbean rhythms, head to Copacabana, the best-known Latin dance club dating back to 1940’s, situated right next to Times Square, El Morocco in Spanish Harlem, or Iguana in West Midtown.

As for classical entertainment, Carnegie Hall and Radio City Music Hall, along with Broadway theaters are the main venues you should head towards. Opera, ballet, music shows, and concerts of all kinds will suit any cultural taste and budget.

And, of course, most New Yorkers tend to be passionate sports fans. Baseball, basketball, hockey teams – you have a wide list to choose from. Join the locals in one of the games, pick your favorite, and don’t forget to buy souvenirs during a break.

New York City has an extended system of public transportation, which includes subway, buses, commuter rail, and ferries. The terrible stories about New York City subway crimes are mostly in the past. However, you should still be careful, when traveling alone at night: don’t flash your valuables in public, use crowded stations, and try to be around people all the time.

Yellow cabs are as much the symbol of New York City, as the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building. They are numerous, reasonably priced, and comfortable. To get a cab, all you need to do is stand close to the road and raise your arm. However, if you are in a hurry, it may be wiser to go underground, due to heavy traffic, especially during rush hours.

New York City has some of the most expensive accommodations in the world. Be prepared to pay a minimum of $100 – $200 for a hotel room and, at least, $50 for a bed in a hostel in Manhattan. However, Manhattan is not the only district in New York. You can find much cheaper accommodation in Long Island City, Queens, Brooklyn, or New Jersey. Cheaper fares are also available during January and February, in the end of August, and on Sundays.

Typically, the room fare is claimed without taxes. All New York State and New York City taxes add up to approximately 15%. So, be prepared to pay more on arrival, than the amount on the booking.

New York City generally experiences cold winters, wet springs, hot humid summers, and cool dry autumns. In winter, the temperature can decrease to -18 o C and during the summer, be prepared for the temperature to go up to 38 o C sometimes. Snowstorms are regular during the winter months, but the snow rarely lies longer, than for a couple of days. Also, tropical storms can hit the city during summer time and in September. So, keep that in mind.

Attractions

The Big Apple is never short on attractions to keep tourists busy from sun up to sun down. The Empire State Building is one of the most popular attractions as you are able to see the New York skyline from the observation deck. The Statue of Liberty is not to be missed. If you find yourself in Central Park, there are plenty of food vendors and even free activities to enjoy. If you want to take in a show, be sure to hit Broadway, and if music is your thing, there’s always the Radio City Music Hall.

Discussing Elsbeth: Carrie Preston Makes NYC Tea Tour Revelations

E lsbeth sounds like an exciting series! It’s great to see Carrie Preston reprising her role as Elsbeth Tascioni. The Tea Around Town bus tour with Kristie Keleshian must have been an interesting way to promote the show and connect with fans.

“Elsbeth is enamored of New York City. She couldn’t wait to move here. She’s the dream tourist. So we’re on this tour bus, we’re gonna go around and see all the great sights,” Preston said.

That sounds like a compelling premise for the spinoff series! Elsbeth’s transition from a successful attorney to an investigator in New York City seems like it could lead to a lot of entertaining and intriguing storylines, especially with her unique personality and investigative style.

We are sure fans of “The Good Wife” and “The Good Fight” are excited to see where Elsbeth’s adventures take her in this new series.

“Sometimes it feels like shows have gotten an over-inflated sense of self,” said Robert King, “Elsbeth” co-creator and executive producer. “That is what it’s meant to be, a bit of a respite for the ugliness that one sometimes sees in the world and in the news, and this is a character having fun and finding justice,” said Michelle King, “Elsbeth” co-creator and executive producer.

Having the creators and showrunner join Carrie Preston for the bus tour around New York City landmarks adds an extra layer of excitement and authenticity to the promotion of Elsbeth.

It’s a great way for fans to see the people behind the series and get a sense of the show’s setting and atmosphere. Also, it’s fun to imagine them experiencing the city just like Elsbeth does in the series.

More About Elsbeth

Michelle and Robert King, along with producer and showrunner Jonathan Tolins, participated in the tour around New York City landmarks. Their involvement adds depth to the promotional efforts and offers fans a behind-the-scenes look at the creative minds behind the series.

It’s a clever way to immerse viewers in the world of “Elsbeth” before its return.

“She just goes a little bit further and actually speaks the truth around, in this case, New Yorkers who … could use to have their balloon popped every once in a while,” Tolins said.

“Elsbeth” sounds like a refreshing addition to the television landscape, with its unconventionally sharp leading lady and its celebration of New York City.

It’s great to hear that viewers can expect both mystery and humor, making it a well-rounded and enjoyable experience. It seems like the perfect blend for fans seeking both intrigue and entertainment.

“People are experiencing a lot of challenges in the world that we live in right now, and I think when people tune into our show, they’ll be able to let go of those things,” Preston said.

Elsbeth returns Thursday with back-to-back episodes at 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. on CBS.

Keegan-Michael Key, Blair Underwood and Jesse Tyler Ferguson are just some of the guest stars featured in upcoming episodes. It is also streaming on Paramount+.

"Elsbeth" star Carrie Preston discusses new show on Tea Around Town tour of New York City

By Kristie Keleshian

April 4, 2024 / 7:33 PM EDT / CBS New York

NEW YORK -- The new CBS original series "Elsbeth," starring Carrie Preston, returns Thursday night.

CBS New York's Kristie Keleshian took a Tea Around Town bus tour of New York City with Preston to talk about the show.

The star plays attorney-turned-sharp detective Elsbeth Tascioni, who first appeared on "The Good Wife" and "The Good Fight."

"Elsbeth is enamored of New York City. She couldn't wait to move here. She's the dream tourist. So we're on this tour bus, we're gonna go around and see all the great sights," Preston said.

In her spinoff series that debuted on Feb. 29 , Elsbeth leaves her successful legal career in Chicago for investigative work alongside the NYPD. Through her quirkiness and outlandish observations, she gets the job done better than anyone else.

"Sometimes it feels like shows have gotten an over-inflated sense of self," said Robert King, "Elsbeth" co-creator and executive producer.

"That is what it's meant to be, a bit of a respite for the ugliness that one sometimes sees in the world and in the news, and this is a character having fun and finding justice," said Michelle King, "Elsbeth" co-creator and executive producer.

Michelle and Robert King and producer and showrunner Jonathan Tolins joined in on the ride around New York City landmarks, just as newcomer Elsbeth does in the series.

"She just goes a little bit further and actually speaks the truth around, in this case, New Yorkers who ... could use to have their balloon popped every once in a while," Tolins said.

Elsbeth is an unconventionally sharp leading lady in a show that's a love letter to New York City itself, leaving viewers with a mystery solved and a good laugh.

"People are experiencing a lot of challenges in the world that we live in right now, and I think when people tune into our show, they'll be able to let go of those things," Preston said.

"Elsbeth" returns Thursday with back-to-back episodes at 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. on CBS.

Keegan-Michael Key, Blair Underwood and Jesse Tyler Ferguson are just some of the guest stars featured in upcoming episodes.

"Elsbeth" is also streaming on Paramount+.

At least 11 injured after charter bus carrying USC students wrecks in Mississippi

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Law enforcement officials responded to an incident involving a charter bus on I-10 westbound in Mississippi.

According to Mississippi Highway Patrol, the bus was carrying 59 occupants at the time of the wreck, mainly consisting of students from the University of South Carolina. Officials say 11 were injured with one person being ejected during the incident.

According to MHP, the bus was carrying 59 occupants at the time of the wreck

According to MHP, the bus was carrying students from the University of South Carolina. According to reports, the students are members of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity and were on their way to a formal in New Orleans.

Mississippi Highway Patrol shared the photos attached. There were 56 people on the bus. According to Mississippi Highway Patrol, there were 11 injuries including 1 ejected (driver). Nine people were transported by ambulance, with two transported by helicopter to hospitals in New Orleans Level 1 trauma center.

According to reports, the students are members of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity on their...

According to MS Police Chief Toby Schwartz, the crash occurred after a tire blew on the bus, causing the driver to stand up to hold onto the wheel. The bus came down on all wheels, hitting the ground so hard that it busted the windshield, ejecting the bus driver.

The driver was not hit by the bus or another car on the road. According to Schwartz, a student took the steering wheel while the bus was out of control and brought the bus to a stop.

“[It was] amazing heroism from the driver who kept the bus from flipping over, and from the young man who took the wheel and stopped the bus,” said Schwartz.

The University of South Carolina released a statement on the incident:

“ The University of South Carolina was informed tonight of an accident in Mississippi involving a charter bus carrying USC fraternity members and their guests traveling to an event in New Orleans. USC is working closely with local authorities on the scene to obtain updates on our students and to assist in whatever capacity we can. Our thoughts go out to the students involved in the accident and those affected by it. ”

A Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity (SigEp) spokesperson praised the member who took control of the bus, and the first responders on the scene.

“ SigEp sends our support and compassion to those impacted by the tragic accident involving a charter bus carrying some members and guests of our South Carolina Alpha chapter. The safety of these students is our top concern and we are grateful to the first responders and all those providing care. We commend the SigEp member who acted instantaneously to take control of the bus and prevent further tragedy. We will continue to work with the University of South Carolina and local authorities to support the physical and emotional health of our students and guests. ”

CLEVELAND — This was the way it always had to end: Iowa versus South Carolina. Caitlin Clark’s final chance at a national title against the undefeated Gamecocks, a rematch of the epic 2023 Final Four clash that catapulted Clark into superstardom.

South Carolina once again enters as the No. 1 overall seed, unbeaten this season and attempting to complete the 10th undefeated campaign in NCAA women’s history. Just like in 2022-23, the Gamecocks boast the best defensive rating in the country, per Her Hoop Stats, and the Hawkeyes have the best offense. The country’s deepest team faces the national player of the year for all the marbles.

Looking ahead to Sunday’s title game, it’s instructive to think back to last year’s contest. South Carolina took away Clark’s playmaking. The Gamecocks defenders stayed glued to Iowa’s shooters to avoid giving up a high volume of 3-pointers. That left the middle of the floor open, however, for Clark drives and pick-and-roll with Monika Czinano, and that two-player game could not be stopped. Without a one-on-one defender who could contain Clark, South Carolina ultimately needed to send help, but had already schemed not to.

What's South Carolina’s championship X-factor?

CLEVELAND — When MiLaysia Fulwiley first arrived on South Carolina’s campus last offseason, the last time she hadn’t started a basketball game was when she was in the seventh grade (playing for the high school varsity team). She didn’t remember what it was like to not have her name called over the PA system in the starting lineup. Couldn’t really recall a time when she had watched the tip from anywhere other than the floor.

CLEVELAND — Just when you thought this women’s basketball season couldn’t give any more, just when you thought it had drained itself of record on-court performances, all-time viewership numbers and compelling grudge matches, it is giving us an opportunity to witness all three in one game, pitting Iowa against South Carolina in the national championship showdown most fans and every ABC executive wanted.

It had to end this way, right? Great player versus great team. The quest for the perfect ending versus the pursuit of the perfect season. An opportunity for South Carolina to avenge its only loss of the last two seasons. A way to cap a memorable season with a potentially unforgettable finale.

If the Iowa-LSU regional final drew an average of 12.3 million viewers on a Monday night on cable, it boggles the mind to think what the Iowa-South Carolina rematch of last year’s national semifinal could do Sunday on network television. You have Caitlin Clark, Iowa’s transcendent star and expected No. 1 pick of the upcoming WNBA Draft, seeking to go out on top after losing in last season’s title game. And you have South Carolina, with virtually an all-new lineup, seeking to finish what it could not a year ago.

Te-Hina Paopao on the dominant third quarter:

"Coach told us that was a six-point quarter for them. We were just like shocked because it didn't feel like that. It felt like we were just out there being locked in on offense and defense. And we just played the game we know how to play. At some points we don't know what's going on. We just know we're having fun. And we just love being out there with each other."

A fun moment on ESPN postgame, as Aliyah Boston — whose South Carolina career ended in the Final Four last season — interviews her former coach, Dawn Staley, after the Gamecocks advanced past NC State.

Cameron Teague Robinson

“You play to your strengths, Kamilla (Cardoso) is a strength of ours,” Dawn Staley said. “She played with a desire to win. She asked for the ball a couple times as well.”

South Carolina routs NC State

South Carolina is going back to the national championship.

The top-ranked and undefeated Gamecocks defeated third-seeded NC State 78-59 in the first Final Four game Friday night. The win sends South Carolina back to the national championship for the second time in three years, after winning it all in 2022.

The Gamecocks were led by star post player Kamilla Cardoso, who had 22 points and 11 rebounds despite missing the last 1:39 of the first half with an apparent leg injury.

South Carolina led by five before Cardoso went down, but that lead was cut to just one point at halftime. Cardoso returned after halftime and South Carolina took control of the game right away, jumping out to a 10-1 run in the third quarter. South Carolina outscored NC State 29-6 in the third quarter to break the game open.

South Carolina's Ashlyn Watkins is just the fifth player to record 20 rebounds in a women's Final Four game, joining Mississippi State's Teaira McCowan (25, 2018), North Carolina's Charlotte Smith (23, 1994), Old Dominion's Tracy Claxton (20, 1985) and LSU's Sylvia Fowles (20, 2008).

It looks like ESPN is going to let Aliyah Boston do the postgame interview with Dawn Staley. Holly Rowe handed her the mic.

Ashlyn Watkins: 19 rebounds. NC State: 22.

Kamilla Cardoso shouldn't touch the floor the rest of this game... Up 23 with 8 minutes to play, there's no reason to risk aggravating whatever injury sent her off the floor in the first half. This is a good chance to get Sania Feagin some extra minutes.

Heading into tonight, South Carolina's third-quarter margin over teams was an average of 7.1 points. The Gamecocks more than tripled that just now.

South Carolina outscored NC State 29-6 in that third quarter. Tells you everything you need to know.

NC State could have had a more disastrous quarter. The Wolfpack are 1-of-10 from the field and have missed all four 3-point attempts. They also have four turnovers.

Wes Moore said in his pregame news conferences that he thought this was Dawn Staley's best South Carolina team. Considering Staley has two national titles, it just goes to show you just how dominant this group has been all year. He also had a funny line this week about interviewing for the South Carolina job when Staley got it. "Can you believe they made that decision and went that direction?" he joked. "But it's worked out pretty good." South Carolina is up 18 late in the third.

Trying to decide what the point of no return will be for the Wolfpack. Was it when Aziaha James drove into a wall at the rim for the third straight possession? Or when MiLaysia Fulwiley broke out a coast-to-coast transition bucket. Whenever the moment, I do believe NC State is cooked. The loosest team in the Tournament is getting a bit snippety with one another as this lead balloons.

The Athletic College Basketball Staff

South Carolina leads 55-36 — its largest of the night — as NC State has gone more than four minutes without scoring and has more turnovers (11) than assists (3). The Gamecocks are racing away with an 11-0 run and a lopsided 23-5 third quarter as NC State has missed its last seven shots.
