  • NATAS Travel Fairs

Click here to enter NATAS fair website!

The first NATAS travel fairs was launched in 1987. By 1998, the consumer travel fairs were so popular that they became a biannual affair, giving rise to the present NATAS Travel and NATAS Holidays fairs.

Today, the biannual NATAS travel fairs have grown to be the largest of its kind in Singapore, featuring a unique one-stop-shop concept where not only outbound travel agents offer their products and services, but also cruise lines, airlines, hotels/resorts, National Tourism Organisations and travel-related companies.

NATAS travel fairs continue to remain popular with the Singaporean travelers and are known for providing the best travel deals and tour packages. To date, the biannual NATAS travel fairs have attracted more than 2.4 million visitors since 1987.

Recent travel fairs have also shown that the Singaporean travellers’ top destinations of choice remain unchanged: the evergreen destinations like Europe, China, Thailand, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan, all of which are featured in prominence at the NATAS fairs. In addition to these, Singaporeans are venturing off the beaten path to emerging destinations. The cruise sector has also been identified as an evolving market sector, alongside the growing popularity of FIT and custom itinerary packages.

NATAS believes its biannual fairs remain a relevant platform and stepping board from which the Singapore travellers can access the rest of the world and through which our travel agent members can effectively launch and promote their quality products and services.

NATAS remains committed to looking into ways to improve on and reinvent the fairs so as to appeal to more market segments.

Guide to Singapore Travel Fairs 2023: NATAS Travel Fair, Japan Travel Fair, and Klook Japan Deals (24-26 February 2023)

Japan and Taiwan

Are you planning your 2023 holidays and looking for travel deals? There are two big travel fairs this weekend (24-26 February 2023)! The NATAS Travel Fair 2023 at Singapore Expo and Japan Travel Fair by Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) at Suntec City (with a special Klook Express booth with amazing Japan deals).

As I am a cheapo, #auntiewendy, and “bargain hunter,” I have “scrutinized” the travel fairs and put together this quick guide to the travel fairs in Singapore and the best travel deals and discounts.

NATAS Travel Fair 2023

sg travel fair

The NATAS Travel Fair is Singapore’s largest consumer travel fair and is held twice a year. Its organizing body, the National Association of Travel Agents Singapore (NATAS), brings together numerous travel agencies, tourism boards, airlines, and hotels under one roof to showcase the latest tourism products and trends.

  • Date: 24-26 February 2023
  • Venue: Singapore Expo, 1 Expo Dr, Singapore 486150, Hall 5
  • Free admission

Based on my past experiences, it’s best to go head down to the NATAS Travel Fair as early as possible. You will avoid the crowds, queues for customer service, and grab good deals and gifts (especially credit card deals that may have limited quantity). This year, my game plan is to visit my favorite Taiwan Tourism Bureau Booth, Peace Boat booth, and do research for Europe packaged tours.

NATAS TRAVEL FAIR 2023 – EXHIBITORS AND EXHIBITION FLOOR PLAN

There are over 51 exhibitors and they range from national tourism organizations, travel agents, hotels, airlines, cruises, banks, insurers, and more.

Some exhibitors that I am interested to check out:

National Tourism Organizations

  • Taiwan Tourism Bureau
  • Tourism Authority of Thailand
  • Sarawak Tourism Board

Interestingly, Tokai Tourism Japan has a booth in the NATAS Travel Fair and not the Japan Travel Fair. You can also find more Japan deals at JTB and H.I.S. Travel booths.

Taiwan Tourism Bureau’s booth looks very attractive and they are planning a series of informative talks and fun activities (see below). Make sure you check out their booth!

Planning a trip to Taiwan in 2023? Check out all my Taiwan guides and itineraries here . For more travel hacks and discount codes, check out How to plan a free and easy trip to Taiwan on a budget .

sg travel fair

As I am looking for deals for Europe packaged tours, I would be checking out these travel agents:

  • Chan Brothers Travel
  • EU Holidays
  • Nam Ho Travel
  • ASA Holidays

If you are looking for credit cards discounts or would like to sign up for new credit cards, check out the bank booths! Most banks usually have good giveaways and discounts for new credit card sign-ups at travel fairs.

For travel insurance, Etiqa Insurance has a booth. But I don’t usually buy insurance at travel fair as I can find better deals online. I have recently purchased FWD travel insurance for my family. I like that I can enhance my coverage with COVID-19 add-on benefit and they have an app that facilitates claims easily. I have no issues making claims so far. Check out the policy coverage and cost here (use my link to get extra 2% discount on top of their existing promotional code). If you are planning a more complex trip that requires more coverage, read their policy wordings carefully.

Check out the full list of exhibitors here and plan your travel shopping route with the map below.

A stamp rally will be held throughout the 3 days! I love stamp rally and the Japanese have the best stamp rallies! It’s so fun collecting stamps or “chops”!

Collect all four stamps from four different booths located in the North Atrium to redeem an exclusively designed travel tote bag. What’s more! You can win a free trip to Japan if you collect all the chops!

sg travel fair

Remember to exchange for a lucky draw ticket at the same counter from 2:00pm to 2:30pm on 26 Feb (Sun) with your completed stamp rally sheet for a chance to win a pair of Round-trip Economy Class Tickets from Singapore to Tokyo by Japan Airlines. Strong outbound demand expected at Singapore’s first major travel fair for 2024

sg travel fair

The National Association of Travel Agents Singapore (NATAS) opened its travel fair this morning at the Singapore Expo with expectations of a strong visitor crowd that would mirror the robust demand for travel seen throughout 2023.

Speaking at the NATAS Travel 2024 opening ceremony, Simon Er, deputy president of NATAS, said demand for travel is still “robust, strong and ongoing” and “hopes for visitor numbers to top 102,000”.

Interest in courting Singapore residents this year is much stronger, evident by an expanded Travel Fair 2024 featuring 66 exhibitors compared to 51 in the February 2023 fair. The range of sellers include travel agencies, national tourism organisations, and other players in the industry.

Guest-of-Honour gracing the opening ceremony was Melissa Ow, chief executive of Singapore Tourism Board (STB), who spoke about Singapore’s tourism recovery and continued attractiveness as a destination with business and leisure offerings. She also acknowledged the increased demand for authentic experiences and is also optimistic that outbound travel remains healthy.

When asked for projected transaction value by the time the fair ends on Sunday, Er said such information would not be available.

Appetite for package tours continues to remain strong in 2024 among all types of travellers, from multi-generational families to couples, according to travel agencies that  TTG Asia  spoke to at the fair.

They also predict destinations such as Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Europe to remain perennial favourites of Singapore residents. However, demand for destinations farther afield will also pick up, especially for Norway and Finland to catch the Northern Lights, due to reports that the phenomenon will be at its strongest this year

“Travellers are also looking for more experiential and in-depth tours”, said Diana Tan, head of department (HR & public relations), CTC Travel.

She observed a stronger desire for new sights. “People want to start exploring places they’ve never been to before to get a different experience,” she said.

Younger travellers, for instance, have made enquiries and bookings to places such as Antarctica. There has also been more demand for Xinjiang and Silk Road tours, Nepal, Egypt and Morocco, as well as requests for English-speaking guides.

Similarly, Jeremiah Wong, senior marketing communications manager, Chan Brothers Travel, noted an increase in more off-the-beaten-path destinations.

He expects bookings for the company’s Bhutan packages, which were popular in 2023, to gain more traction as they now include a chartered direct flight to the country. There has also been a healthy increase in interest to places such as Mongolia and Uzbekistan – also because of chartered flights.

Both Tan and Wong also noted that travellers were making their travel plans earlier than usual.

Wong has seen bookings made more than six months in advance especially for seasonal travel during popular periods, such as the cherry blossom season. High airfares post-Covid have also motivated people to confirm their travel plans earlier.

Among his customers, Wong noted strong demand for all types of package tours, from the fully planned ones to self-drive packages among multi-generational families, and has also observed more single travellers making bookings.

He added that even travellers who used to travel free and easy have converted to package tours as they appreciate the convenience.

Some 370,000 discounted SIA, Scoot tickets to go on sale in November

sg travel fair

SINGAPORE – More than 170,000 discounted Singapore Airlines (SIA) tickets and some 200,000 discounted Scoot tickets will go on sale on Nov 3.

In a statement on Tuesday, the national carrier said it is offering the discounts as part of its upcoming Time To Fly travel fair.

The fair, in its third run, is the largest to date, with the most number of discounted air tickets, destinations and travel partners involved, an SIA spokesman told The Straits Times.

The discounted tickets can be purchased at SIA’s physical event from Nov 3 to 5 at Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre Halls 405 and 406. They will also be available online between Nov 3 and 16 on the SIA and Scoot websites, the SIA mobile app, and through SIA-appointed travel agents, said the airline.

SIA will offer discounts on more than 170,000 round-trip tickets across the business, premium economy and economy classes, from Singapore to 71 destinations – nearly its entire travel network.

The discounts are applicable to flights between January and September 2024.

The 200,000 discounted Scoot tickets, meanwhile, are available only for one-way flights, said the budget subsidiary of SIA in a statement on Tuesday.

Scoot will offer discounted rates to more than 50 destinations for travel between November 2023 and October 2024. Airfares, the budget carrier said, start from $68 to Kuala Lumpur and $140 to Taipei. More details will be announced on its website on Oct 31.

SIA chief commercial officer Lee Lik Hsin said: “SIA and Scoot are pleased to offer our customers greater options and value as they make their travel and holiday plans for 2024, and as we return to pre-pandemic levels of operations.”

The three-day physical travel fair also includes a lucky draw, where participants stand to win a pair of business class round-trip tickets to Bali, the Maldives, Osaka and Phuket.

Frequent fliers said they welcome the discounts. “This is good news for me,” said Ms Judy Tan, 57, a retired advertising director who has been to 10 countries this year. “Airfares have gone up so much since the pandemic.”

Ms Quinn Tan, who has been travelling for the last two months while on a sabbatical, said she was “sceptical” about the discounts but might be persuaded to travel more if they are significant.

“I’m eyeing Japan, Norway and London,” said the 33-year-old banker. “But my plans will depend on how big the discounts are.”
