Having first launched their universally acclaimed Rhapsody Tour with 25 epic shows across North America in 2019, Queen + Adam Lambert are bringing their highly acclaimed production, now expanded and updated, back to where it first began. After a 4-year long hiatus, Sir Brian May, Roger Taylor and their exceptional frontman Adam Lambert have announced they will set out on a spectacular North America run this fall. Produced by Live Nation, the tour kicks off on October 4 at Baltimore’s CFG Bank Arena making stops in Toronto, New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago, Dallas, Denver and more before concluding at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles. See full routing below.

Brian May says, “Our last tour featured our most ambitious production ever. So we decided to rip it apart and get even more ambitious. Watch out world.”

And Adam Lambert says: “I can’t wait to tour North America one more time with the Rhapsody tour alongside the two unbelievably talented legends that are Brian May and Roger Taylor.”

Queen + Adam Lambert’s 150-minute career-spanning set list celebrates the band’s extraordinary back catalogue, lining up wall-to-wall immortal anthems like “We Will Rock You”, “Don’t Stop Me Now”, “Radio Ga Ga”, and “Somebody To Love” alongside classic deep cuts and vintage fan favourites. Featuring a dazzling state-of-the-art stage design, incredible special effects and set pieces, this sense-swamping extravaganza has been blowing critics and fans away the world over.

As with last year’s UK and European dates, the 2023 North American tour will see Queen + Adam Lambert supported on stage by their regular band members, long-serving Queen keyboard player and musical director Spike Edney, bass guitarist Neil Fairclough and percussionist Tyler Warren.

Having extensively toured over the last few years, the Rhapsody show is forever evolving. But it remains at heart a tribute to Freddie Mercury’s majestic legacy, a confirmation of Brian and Roger’s undimmed musical prowess, plus a magnificent showcase for Adam’s vocal skills and electrifying stage charisma, all of which adds up to a glorious full-blooded celebration of one of the greatest songbooks in rock history. Read more on the story of The Rhapsody Tour so far, including the special performance opening the Platinum Jubilee concert with the late Queen herself tea cup tapping to the beat of “We Will Rock You” HERE .

TICKETS: Tickets will be available via a general onsale beginning Friday, March 31st at 10AM local time at LiveNation.com .

MORE ON TICKETS:

Queen + Adam Lambert appreciate that it is an enormous task to try and stop scalpers from taking advantage of fans wanting to purchase tickets for the tour. In an effort to help minimize resale and keep ticket prices at face value for fans, the band are collaborating with the venues’ ticketing partners to restrict the ability to transfer tickets for The Rhapsody Tour so that they may only be transferred between fans at the original price.

Fans will still have protection against unforeseen circumstances. Those who purchase tickets and are no longer able to attend their show will be able to sell their tickets at the price they paid using a face value ticket exchange, including the Ticketmaster Face Value Exchange – which is free to use for buyers and sellers. More information on how the Ticketmaster Exchange works is available here .

Unfortunately, the states of NY, IL, and CO have laws in place which protect ticket scalpers – these laws prohibit artists from being able to restrict the transfer of their tickets to face value exchanges only. For shows in these states, Queen + Adam Lambert strongly encourage fans to only buy or sell tickets to one another on face value exchanges. More information can be found here , with more details to follow in the coming weeks.

Queen + Adam Lambert Unveil North American ‘Rhapsody’ Tour Dates: ‘These Are New Glory Days’

Queen Adam Lambert

“These are kind of new glory days for us,” said Queen guitarist and founding member Brian May, who was literally knighted by King Charles III earlier this month. “It’s nice to think that hopefully there will be the demand for that.”

But the guitarist, along with founding drummer Roger Taylor and singer Adam Lambert , was on the other side of the Atlantic in Thursday, in New York to announce the group’s 14-show North American leg of its “Rhapsody” tour — its first since 2019 — which runs from Oct. 4 through Nov. 11.

Popular on Variety

Shows on the overseas “Rhapsody” tour dates featured around 25 songs plus four encore numbers, and included the hits “Killer Queen,” “Fat Bottomed Girls, “Another One Bites the Dust, “We Will Rock You / We Are the Champions” and the song with more than 2 billion Spotify streams that lent its title to a film and this tour, “Bohemian Rhapsody.”

Queen promises some deeper cuts on this jaunt. Lambert says, “I’m not sure exactly what we’ll pull out for this one. Look, I would be happy just to show up and do what I was told if that was how it was. But I’ve been really fortunate to work with these two gentlemen who are very collaborative, and we get to all throw ideas in and work things out. I’m really grateful for that it makes me even more invested in it.

It’s been a decade since the group’s first live American concert, though the first time they performed was in 2009 when May and Taylor were guests on the eighth season of “Idol.” May remembers the first actual American concert in Las Vegas in 2013 for the iHeart Music Festival: “It felt so good both internally and from the [crowd] reaction that we thought, ‘My God, this is something we shouldn’t be letting go.’ I think we foresaw some kind of future, didn’t we? But not quite as big as it actually happened. It’s been colossal.”

Lambert agreed, “I don’t think I would have imagined that it would have been the gift that keeps on giving.”

The current Rhapsody tour features Queen + Adam Lambert’s regular band members, longtime keyboard player and musical director Spike Edney, bass guitarist Neil Fairclough and percussionist Tyler Warren. Founding bassist John Deacon left the band and effectively retired from music following Freddie Mercury’s 1991 death, and chose not to be present at Queen’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001.

Despite a 30-year-plus age difference between Lambert, 41, and May, 75 and Taylor, 73, the three have an easy camaraderie that’s evident both onstage and off. Lambert was only three when Queen’s iconic 1985 Live Aid performance rocked the world, but it was something he got to recreate at the Fire Fight fundraiser concert in Sydney, Australia in February 2020, a month before Covid shut down the world.

As a fan growing up, Lambert was familiar with Queen’s Live Aid footage. “But when it came time to first join the band on stage, I was like, ‘I have to know my stuff’ so I watched as much as I could. Besides Live Aid, one of my favorite things was Montreal concert where Freddie was running around in a pair of itty bitty white shorts and no shoes,” Lambert says. “I just I remember seeing that and going ‘This guy’s amazing.’ He was so free and ridiculous and just full of joy and I’ve been so inspired by that spirit. I try to approach shows with that same humor…”

“And shorts?” Taylor quipped.

“Not the shorts for me — Freddie had much better legs,” Lambert concluded.

A general on sale date for the Queen + Adam Lambert  U.S. tour is March 31, and in light of exorbitant ticket prices and “dynamic pricing,” the band stated in a release that “In an effort to help minimize resale and keep ticket prices at face value for fans, the band are collaborating with the venues’ ticketing partners to restrict the ability to transfer tickets for the Rhapsody tour so that they may only be transferred between fans at the original price.”

Queen + Adam Lambert Announce 2023 North American ‘Rhapsody’ Tour Dates

By Andy Greene

Andy Greene

Queen + Adam Lambert are bringing their Rhapsody Tour back to North America for their first shows on this side of the Atlantic since 2019. The tour kicks off Oct. 4 in Baltimore, Maryland, and wraps up Nov. 11 in Los Angeles, California.

“This tour has lots of new bells and lots of new whistles,” Queen guitarist Brian May tells Rolling Stone . “We’ve evolved as performers, I think. We’ve stepped up our game. We have better chemistry than ever. We understand each other better than ever, and we feel more free in the way that we interpret stuff. We’re very happy with it. There’s lots of new production and stuff we want to excite you with.”

The set will focus on Queen classics like “Another One Bites The Dust,” “Somebody to Love,” and “Radio Ga Ga.” But they sprinkled in deep cuts like “Tear It Up” and “A King of Magic” in Europe last year, and hope to keep doing that.

“This show has evolved since its been in America since we’ve taken it around the world,” adds drummer Roger Taylor. “It’s quite a different show in a way, while retaining all the big hits, which so many people want to hear.”

Ticket sales begin Friday, March 31. In an effort to keep prices low and reduce scalping, the band is going to utilize the Ticketmaster Face Value Exchange, which makes it impossible to sell tickets for more than face value. “It’s an experiment,” says May. “We got sick of seeing our fans get ripped off by scalpers. We’re hoping this works out.”

Queen + Adam Lambert first played together on the 2009 finale of American Idol. They began gigging together in 2012, and have stayed on the road consistently over the past decade. Filling in for Freddie Mercury was a daunting task at first for Lambert, but he’s grown very comfortable with the job over the years.

“I feel less anxiety now,” he says. “I’ve matured as a performer. I trust myself a bit more. I will say that when the movie [ Bohemian Rhapsody ] came out, we had all these new fans, and many of them were young, I felt this little pang of, ‘Oh, these are new fans that haven’t been to a show yet.’ I needed to prove myself again, which is good. It keeps me on my game.”

The 2018 movie was an enormous success that grossed $911 million and won four Academy Awards, including Best Actor for star Rami Malek. It ends at Live Aid in 1985, and there’s been scattered talk over the past few years of a sequel that would chronicle Mercury’s final years.

“We need a script,” says May. “That’s what it comes down to. It took us 12 years to get the script for Bohemian Rhapsody , and get the right team in place. I’m not anxious. I think if the right thing comes along, it might work. We have our wonderful producer, Graham King, on it. It’s a possibility. If the right planets align, it might happen.”

At the moment, this next leg of the Rhapsody Tour is just 14 shows, but it’s very possible they’ll tack on more. “People are buying tickets,” says Lambert. “And hey, we like performing.”

Getting Around Queens

Most of the neighborhoods in Queens typically visited by tourists, like Astoria and Long Island City , are very walkable. This is one of the best ways to get around as it’s free and allows you to feel the beat of the borough!

Love cycling? Citi Bike stations are all over Queens, and offer a budget-friendly way to get around in an eco-friendly fashion that also allows you to see the sights.

In terms of public transportation, the best way to get around Queens is via subway, which gets you anywhere you may need to go for just $2.75 — no need to wait in traffic.

Additionally, Queens (and the rest of NYC) is connected via other public transportation options like buses and even ferries. While buses are operated by the MTA, just like the subway, you’ll want to download the NYC Ferry app to see schedules and buy tickets for the ferry.

Prefer a private car service? Uber and Lyft are plentiful in Queens, though do note that cabs tend to be much cheaper. You can hail a cab on many main streets, which is typically your cheapest option, or use an app like Arro or Curb to order one.

Driving? It’s much easier to find parking in Queens than it is in Manhattan, though you can always use the SpotHero website and app to snag super discounted parking spots. This is especially recommended if you end up driving into Manhattan, where finding parking is a nightmare.

Queens Travel Insurance

When visiting Queens — or anywhere else in the world — make sure to get travel insurance to protect your health and safety.

In my opinion, the best travel medical insurance for travelers is SafetyWing as they’ve got a large network and offer both short-term and long-term coverage — including coverage if you’re traveling for months as well as limited coverage in your home country).

Additionally, SafetyWing is budget-friendly and offers $250,000 worth of coverage with just one low overall deductible of $250.

With coverage, you’ll have peace of mind as you embark on your Queens travel itinerary.

Queens Travel Guide FAQ

Below, find answers to frequently asked questions about traveling in Queens in NYC .

Q: What are some fun facts about Queens?

Queens has a fascinating history. Here are some interesting facts you may not know about Queens:

1. The borough of Queens was actually named after a Queen. It got its name in honor of Queen Catherine of Braganza, the wife of King Charles II in England.

2. Steinway pianos have been produced in Astoria, Queens since 1853.

3. Both of New York City’s major airports, LaGuardia Airport and John F. Kennedy International Airport, are located in Queens.

4. The first European settlers in Queens were the Dutch, who colonized the area now known as Flushing. Speaking of Flushing, the neighborhood got its name from its former Dutch name “Vlissingen” which was shortened to “Vlishing” and eventually anglicized to “Flushing.”

5. Queens is home to Citi Field, where the New York Mets play.

Q: How should I spend one day in Queens?

If you have one day in Queens, start off the morning at one of the borough’s world-class museums, like MoMA PS1, Museum of the Moving Image, or the Noguchi Museum. Keep in mind, too, that museums tend to have excellent gift shops, especially if you’re looking for the best souvenirs from New York .

Next, there are many more activities in Queens you can do. Spend some time outdoors and check out the Queens Botanical Garden, Flushing Meadows Corona Park, or Rockaway Beach. Or hit another museum like the New York Hall of Science.

One of the best places to visit in Queens in the evening is Gantry Plaza State Park, where you can watch the sun set over Manhattan. This is truly one of the best places to view the Manhattan skyline from Queens .

Then head to one of Long Island City ‘s many restaurants for dinner, or take the subway to Flushing for their famous night market.

Q: Is Queens safe to visit?

Like the rest of New York City, Queens is very safe to visit. In fact, it is ranked above Manhattan , Brooklyn , and The Bronx in terms of safety.

However, you should always exercise basic safety precautions and be vigilant of your surroundings.

For example, avoid walking around unfamiliar areas or isolated streets alone at night. When taking the subway, choose a subway car with more passengers in it instead of an empty one.

Q: What are the top attractions in Queens, New York?

Why is NYC so popular ? For one, the many things to do!

Queens is home to some of the best (and most under-rated) attractions in New York City.

For museum lovers, check out the world-class Queens Museum, an art museum located in Flushing Meadows Corona Park, which was home to the 1964 World’s Fair.

Socrates Sculpture Park and the Noguchi Museum are two more art museums in Astoria that can be visited together.

And finally, the MoMA PS1, part of the Museum of Modern Art, should not be missed. This is also a great option for rainy days in New York City since it’s indoors.

For sports fans, you can catch a Mets game at Citi Field or tour the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, where the US Open is held every year.

If you want to enjoy the outdoors, head to the Queens Botanical Garden or Gantry Plaza State Park, which has incredible views of the Manhattan skyline.

During the summer months, Rockaway Beach is a popular local getaway and it’s the only beach in New York where you can go surfing!

Want to explore NYC after midnight ? Queens is home to a number of late-night clubs, parties, and event spaces — such as the Knockdown Center in Maspeth.

Q: What are some top Queens neighborhoods to visit?

Queens contains 91 distinct neighborhoods, the most of any borough! With limited time, it’s impossible to visit them all, but these are some of the top neighborhoods to check out.

Long Island City is just across the Queensboro Bridge from Manhattan, and has transformed from an industrial area to a hip neighborhood with tons of restaurants, high-rise apartments, art museums and galleries, and Gantry Plaza State Park with its great waterfront views.

Astoria is another neighborhood that is easily accessible from Manhattan. It has more of a family-friendly neighborhood feel and is also full of great restaurants and bars, like the Bohemian Hall beer garden. Along the waterfront, Astoria Park also offers Manhattan views and is a popular spot to hang out.

Bordering Brooklyn’s trendy Bushwick neighborhood, Ridgewood is a cool neighborhood in Queens that is home to over 30 breweries.

Flushing is one of the most diverse neighborhoods in Queens, and is known for its large Chinatown. Don’t miss the Queens Night Market, where you can sample delicious street food.

Q: How far is Queens from New York City?

MORE ON TICKETS : Queen + Adam Lambert appreciates that it is an enormous task to try and stop scalpers from taking advantage of fans wanting to purchase tickets for the tour. Those who purchase tickets and are no longer able to attend their show will be able to sell their tickets at the price they paid using a face value ticket exchange, including the Ticketmaster Face Value Exchange - which is free to use for buyers and sellers. More information on how the Ticketmaster Exchange works is available here .   Unfortunately, the states of NY, IL, and CO have laws in place that protect ticket scalpers - these laws prohibit artists from being able to restrict the transfer of their tickets to face-value exchanges only. For shows in these states, Queen + Adam Lambert strongly encourages fans to only buy or sell tickets to one another on face-value exchanges. More information can be found here , with more details to follow in the coming weeks.

Fabulous tour with Dan

Streetwise ny tours helped make our trip outstanding.

We took the 3-hour private walking tour of Queens with Dan. I am SO thankful we did this! We NEVER could have done this on our own. We went in grocery stores and shops, which might sound like no big deal, but WOW! They are totally different. It was such an eye opening tour for our son (and us). Dan was extremely knowledgeable and professional (as were Sonya and David). The 3-hour tour of Queens was a highlight for us.”

NYPD cops pack Queens courtroom for latest arraignment after killing of Officer Jonathan Diller

T he man behind the wheel of a car whose passenger is accused of shooting and killing NYPD Officer Jonathan Diller on a Queens street last month told cops he didn’t see it coming.

“I didn’t know it was going to left like that,” driver Lindy Jones told detectives shortly after the shooting that killed a husband and father, according to police. “There was no reason for it to go left like that.”

Jones’ statement was read at his arraignment Tuesday in Queens Criminal Court on criminal charges of possession of a weapon.

Nearly 50 police officers filled the courtroom, including Police Benevolent Association President Patrick Hendry, who later blasted Jones for taking no responsibility for his actions. Officials said Jones, 41, had a gun in the car, which was not the murder weapon.

“We’re going to continue to pack these courtrooms to make sure that there’s justice for our hero brother Jonathan Diller,”  Hendry said outside the courtroom.

“This individual was arrested for an illegal firearm in that car. And he still, as you see in the courtroom, is not taking responsibility for it. Less than a year ago, he was arrested for an illegal firearm. Why was he back on the streets?”

After being arrested for gun possession in Queens on April 17, 2023, Jones was ordered held on $75,000 bail. He ultimately paid his bail and was released from jail, court records show.

Cops also packed a Queens courtroom last month when Guy Rivera, 34, was officially charged with first-degree murder for allegedly shooting Diller and with attempted murder for trying to shoot Sgt. Sasha Rosen during a car stop in Far Rockaway.

Rivera’s gun jammed after he fired a single fatal shot and Rosen escaped unharmed, officials said.

Rivera, who was shot by police, was arraigned via video from his Jamaica Hospital bed in Queens.

Police said Rivera, spotted moments earlier by Rosen with a gun in his hoodie pocket, tried to prevent Diller from pulling him out of the Kia Soul he had just entered.

Rosen and Diller asked Rivera several times to roll down the window, prosecutors said.

Once they got the door open, Rivera slowly removed his seat belt before quickly reaching for his gun and blasting Diller. The bullet lodged in Diller’s hip, striking an artery and causing massive internal bleeding, prosecutors said. Another officer returned fire, hitting Rivera twice.

Jones told cops after he was arrested that he did not know Rivera, claiming he’d just picked him up when he asked for a ride.

“I am here for the thing with the police,” he told detectives, according to a statement read in court. “The one that died. I was the driver. They’re trying to get me to implicate him but they got cameras. You don’t need me to say anything.”

Despite the fatal shooting of a police officer, Jones claimed that cops had no right to search his car.

“My license is good. The car is legit,” he said. “They had no reason to search my car.”

Jones insisted he had nothing to do with Diller’s death.

“I can’t shake the way he did it,” Jones said. “They’re not going to offer him a plea. They’re not gonna be like, ‘Give up your other man’s s–t and we’ll take something off.’ They’re coming down on him.”

Parade routes, start times

If you’re planning your Fiesta parade strategies this year, we can help.

These are the start times and routes for the 2024 Battle of Flowers and Flambeau Parades.

Battle of Flowers Parade

The Battle of Flowers parade will take place on Friday, April 26. The vanguard kicks off at 9:55 a.m. with the parade following at 10:30 a.m. This year’s theme is “Viva Amor 2024.”

The Battle of Flowers parade is the second oldest parade and the only parade in the United States produced entirely by women, and all of them are volunteers.

San Antonio Food Bank CEO Eric Cooper was selected as the grand marshal for the 133rd Battle of Flowers Parade.

This year’s 2.6-mile route will follow the same path as last year. The parade steps off on North Main Street near San Antonio College. It will travel on Lexington Avenue, North St Mary’s Street, Brooklyn Avenue, Avenue E, Houston Street, Alamo Plaza, Commerce Street and Santa Rosa where it will end near West Martin Street.

Fiesta Flambeau Parade

The Fiesta Flambeau Parade is known as America’s largest illuminated night parade with more than 200 parade entries and a typical attendance of about 750,000 spectators. It’s also broadcasted and livestreamed (on KSAT!) to about 1.5 million more people.

This year’s parade will be held on Saturday, April 27. The vanguard kicks off at 7:15 p.m. and the main parade will follow at 7:45 p.m. The theme is “Lotsa Loteria.”

The University of Texas Longhorn Band will be the parade’s premier band and will be joined by floats, marching units, local bands, bands from other cities and states, dance groups, equestrian units and others.

It travels the same route as the Battle of Flowers Parade. Michael Quintanilla, a former writer for the San Antonio Express-News, is the grand marshal . Angie Salinas, the CEO of Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas, is the honorary grand marshal.

Road closures, traffic, VIA Park & Ride

With ongoing construction already creating a vehicular maze downtown, the 11-day party may cause some traffic hot spots as drivers navigate road closures, pedestrians and detours.

The City of San Antonio asks people to plan ahead, celebrate responsibly, and take a ride share or VIA Park & Ride when available.

>> Fiesta-goers can receive $10 off their Uber ride

If you are one of many planning to party downtown for the Battle of Flowers or Fiesta Flambeau parades, or at NIOSA or Fiesta De Los Reyes, click here for detailed information on road closures, parking and construction.

VIA Metropolitan Transit will have its Park & Ride service available for Fiesta’s biggest events, and riders can receive a free medal.

The service will be available from Friday, April 19 to Saturday, April 27 for $1.30 each way, though discounts are available for students, seniors, military members and other populations.

Fiesta medals will be given out at the transit center location at the time of purchase, while supplies last. If the service is purchased online, customers will need to show their receipt at the transit center to receive a medal.

Click here for detailed information on the Park & Ride schedule.

What’s new at Fiesta 2024

If you’re ready for Fiesta’s biggest events, you may want to know about some new venue and time changes for 2024.

Here are new things to know about Fiesta:

  • Fiesta Fiesta, the kickoff event to the season, is moving east to the Alamodome.
  • La Semana Alegre, a music festival that was popular in San Antonio during the 1980s and ‘90s, will relaunch at Hemisfair.
  • NIOSA at La Villita will have new food and drink options.
  • The King William Fair will do away with the BlastPass system and return to paper tickets for the event.
  • Battle of Flowers, one of the most famous flower parades in the country, will shift an hour later compared to the last couple of years.

Click here for more details on each of these changes.

History of Fiesta

Fiesta started in 1891 when a group of San Antonio citizens honored the heroes of the Alamo and the Battle of San Jacinto with the first Battle of Flowers Parade.

Children dressed up as flowers and horse-drawn carriages were adorned with flowers. Parade participants threw blossoms at each other, a tradition that hasn’t been passed down.

>> Historical photos show Fiesta parade floats and crowds from 100+ years ago in downtown San Antonio

The success of the Battle of Flowers Parade led to more events every year, thus Fiesta was born.

Fiesta has been celebrated every year since, except 1918 during World War I, 1942-1945 during World War II and 2020 and 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Fiesta Foodies

Want to know how much Fiesta-goers are chowing down during the 11-day festival? Here’s the breakdown of food consumed, according to the Fiesta Commission:

  • 32,000 Chicken-on-a-Sticks
  • 25,000 Tortillas
  • 15,000 Oysters at Oyster Bake
  • 5,000 Tamales
  • 3,000 Turkey Legs

Here’s what the Conservation Society says the “Night in Old San Antonio” crowd consumes during an average year:

  • 17,000 pounds of beef
  • 11,000 pounds of chicken
  • 3,000 turkey legs
  • 1,000 pounds of guacamole

Fiesta is the largest annual event in San Antonio and generates more than $340 million in economic impact for the community. Roughly 2.5 million people attend the annual celebration, which generates thousands of jobs for locals.
