The JH Coaches 2024  Day Excursion brochure is available by  clicking here.

We have searched high and low to bring you new and exciting destinations as well as plenty of old favourites. We believe that you will be spoilt for choice and truly is something for everyone!

Our friendly, knowledgeable and professional drivers are at the very heart of the success of every JH Coaches tour and look forward to welcoming you on board.

Our fleet of modern coaches are fitted with seat belts and have the latest features for your added safety and comfort.

The programme includes trips operating from the beginning of March through to the end of December. You have a selection of 180 trips between the 10th March and the 15th December, featuring a great choice of interesting and unique destinations for all ages. Some of these trips include live shows, festivals, scenic tours, Christmas markets, special events and MORE. Take our NEW trip for example, The Valleys, Spells & Fells gives you the chance to visit the Boundary Outlet at Colne before heading to meet our guide. We will be taken to Whalley, England’s largest village before continuing through unforgettable countryside to Downham, home to many films and BBC drama series. We then ascend the famous Pendle Hill, long associated with the Lancashire witches and pass through Sabden village before ending with more stunning scenic views of the valley. We then have time at Oswaldtwistle Mills, this former weaving mill has over 100 retailers all under one roof. Or if you enjoy the countryside, we have our Bowness on Windermere Day Excursion. Plus, we have amazing family and children orientated trips with Wildlife Parks, Theme-parks and Museums all included in our new brochure! There really is something for everyone. COASTAL RESORTS

Family favourites, festive season, houses & gardens, retail therapy, scenic splendour, special events, trains, planes, boats, terms & conditions.

Some excursions have been planned many months in advance and unavoidably dates/details may change, so we reserve the right to amend any excursion or itinerary contained within this brochure or otherwise advertised. Should you need to cancel your place on one of our excursions once you have booked, a cancellation fee of £5 per person per excursion will apply. If the excursion(s) included admission fees, these may also be payable. All day excursions run to a minimum number. Where possible, we try to run all our excursions as advertised, however we reserve the right to cancel excursions should the numbers be too low. We will advise you as soon as possible prior to the departure date if we have had to cancel the excursion. Children are, unless otherwise stated, classed as being between the ages of 3 to 15 years old on the day of the excursion. Passengers over the age of 15 must, unless otherwise stated, pay the adult fare. Infants under the age of 3 years old are free to travel as long as they do not occupy a seat on the coach. If you wish for your infant to have their own seat then the child fare must be paid.

Boarding Points for Day Excursions

You can board your Johnsons Day Excursion from 40  local boarding points including Sutton Coldfield, Pype Hayes and Castle Bromwich in the north; Coventry, Warwick and Leamington in the east; Alvechurch and Barnt Green in the west; Evesham, Stratford-upon-Avon, Wellesbourne and Shipston-on-Stour in the south; and Birmingham and Solihull in the middle. Or you can park for free at our yard in Henley-in-Arden to join your day trip.

We provide full details and times for each Day Excursion so that you can clearly see what is included and how the Excursion has been designed to run. Reserved seating is provided on all day trips. Just choose your seat when you book – we find most people generally like to be near the front, so the earlier you book the better choice of seats you have.

What you can expect on board

Our wonderful fleet of coaches offer a luxury travelling experience with onboard entertainment and spacious seating. With air conditioning for the warmer months and heating to keep you toasty in the winter, we aim to provide total comfort for all our passengers whatever the season. Our large coaches are all fitted with toilets and seatbelts for our customer safety and convenience when on board. We have only run our services with our own high specification vehicles including minibuses to seat 6, right up to luxury charter coaches for 63 passengers.

My husband and I are going to be visiting friends in Gateshead this July and will have 2 days in which to see the surronding area. As of now, we don't plan to go to scotland and we will be relying on public transportation. I am overwhelmed with how much there is to do there. I would like to see the coast and possibly northumberland national park, is this realistic? I have never been to England before and both my husband and myself enjoy taking walks. Any suggestions of how to enjoy the area?

Hadrian's Wall, Beamish Open Air Museum and Durham are all easily reached by public transport from Gateshead, if you have a Saturday or Sunday then go to Tynemouth for the Station Market and walk to the coast from there

Seahouses, and a boat trip to the Farne Islands.

Check the tide times, and if suitable go to Lindisfarne Island.

There’s more to do in north east England than in most places......but don’t tell anyone else, please. ;-)

Coast is more than realistic: Bamburgh, Seahouses, Saltburn, Cullercoats and Tynemouth are all good spots, the latter two only a Metro ride away.

For other ideas, Gibside Hall is quite a nice attraction in Gateshead, as is Tanfield Railway. There’s also the aforementioned Beamish Museum and city of Durham, and Washington Old Hall which apparently was home to the ancestors of a certain founding father.

I would suggest getting the metro to Cullercoats walk down to the sea front have a coffee then walk along to Tynemouth where there are plenty of pubs and restaurants for lunch. When you catch the metro back get off in Newcastle and walk around the centre to take in the architecture then down to the quayside for another coffee or beer break.

Beamish is good if you like history etc and you can have a full day there also Sunderland airshow is starting which is a short ride on metro

My husband and I are going to be visiting friends in Gateshead this July and will have 2 days in which to see the surronding area. As of now, we don't plan to go to scotland and we will be relying on public transportation. I am overwhelmed with how much there is to do there. I would like to see the coast and possibly northumberland national park, is this realistic? I have never been to England before and both my husband and myself enjoy taking walks. Any suggestions of how to enjoy the area?

FA Trophy final a fantastic reward after hard season, Gateshead boss says

C ompeting in the FA Trophy final will be a "fantastic reward for what has been a real slog and a real hard season", Gateshead FC's manager has said.

The National League high-flyers beat Northern Premier League Macclesfield FC 2-1 in Saturday's semi-final to book their place at Wembley.

The victory means The Heed feature in the final for a second season running when they play Solihull Moors on 11 May.

Manager Rob Elliot said the "end goal of going to Wembley just gives everyone that reward for what has been a brilliant season, but a gruelling one as well".

Gateshead, who sit sixth in the National League, took the lead against their lower league opponents after five minutes when Dajaune Brown set up midfielder Ben Worman.

Callum Whelan scored a second for The Heed in the 25th minute, before The Silkmen pulled a goal back just after half-time.

But in difficult conditions, as storm winds blew across Gateshead International Stadium, the home side held on to set up a trip to the capital.

Speaking after the game, Elliot said he was "really pleased with the application and the attitude of the lads in what has been horrendously difficult conditions".

"Despite the conditions, they managed to show some real quality and movement and play," he added.

"The end goal of going to Wembley just gives everyone that reward for what has been a brilliant season but a gruelling one as well."

The side will be hoping for a happier day out when they travel to Wembley after being beaten 1-0 by Halifax Town in last year's final .
