I thought this set to be adequate for a duffer picking up the game after a 25 year break. But, in the last 3 yrs. since retirement and less than a dozen games and 3 buckets of balls, the 9.5 TiFusion driver has develloped a split at the top of the club head along the club face. After the initial outing, I noticed the paint flaking along the crack line but thought it was only a paint issue. Not so. The crack has developed from a point 1 1/2 in. from the shaft to a point 270 degrees to the rear of the club head. A few more drives and the top plate will be completely off. The rest of the set is holding up, at least for the time being.

Customer Service

Northwestern Golf Enterprises warranteed this product for one year and said they had no problem with this line. According to the company, this line has not been produced for 5 years. So I am S.O.L. for warranty. I guess my next choice in clubs will a name brand and not a Sears sales item. One learns something new every day.

Northwestern Golf Company: Golf Clubs For The Masses

northwestern-golf-clubs

Long before Rickie Fowler played Cobra, long before Fred Couples played Lynx, long before Tom Watson played Ram, and even before Jack Nicklaus developed and sold Golden Bear, there was a manufacturer of golf clubs using an animal logo that was endorsed by a number of golfing greats of their era; that animal was a thunderbird, and if you are old enough to recall the likes of Johnny Revolta, Chandler Harper, Dick Metz, Marty Furgol, or George Fazio, then there is a good chance that you owned or used golf clubs that were made by Northwestern Golf Company.

Long before amateurs made their golf purchases at the ‘big box’ stores like Golf Galaxy,

PGA Superstore , Golfsmith, or Dick’s Sporting Goods, the vast majority of casual golfers bought their clubs at Sears & Roebuck’s, J.C. Penney’s, Wieboldt’s, Goldblatt’s, or perhaps a local hardware store.

Long before Scottsdale/Phoenix (AZ), Carlsbad (CA), Fairhaven (MA), Beaverton (OR), or China or Mexico were considered to be the golf club manufacturing centers of the world, it was here in Chicago, Illinois where the most golf clubs were produced, and here is where the Northwestern Golf Company was founded and grew.

Nat Rosasco II

Nat Rosasco II

Nat C. Rosasco Sr., was an expert machinist who emigrated from Genoa, Italy, to the U.S. in 1907. He settled in Chicago and was a neighbor of L.B. Icely, the head of

Wilson Sporting Goods Co. , who offered Nat a job manufacturing golf clubs. After working for Wilson for a handful of years, the elder Nat Rosasco took his earnings and what he learned about golf club-making and in 1929 founded Northwestern Golf.

Mr. Rosasco Sr. fathered two sons, Nat Roscasco, Jr. and Leroy, both of whom began working at the company full time as teenagers. Nat C. Roscasco, Jr. took over the day-to-day responsibilities of managing Northwestern’s operations in 1961 when the elder Nat C. Rosasco died. Nat II, at first, steadfastly continued his father’s company motto, “We make golf clubs for the masses NOT the classes!”, and hence continued to sell easily affordable clubs only through department store outlets. The company grew and flourished under Nat II, and moved its office and plant from 3505 N. Elston Avenue to a 1,000,000 sq. ft. facility at 4701 N. Ravenswood Avenue (coincidentally located just alongside of Northwestern Railway tracks). By 1978 Northwestern had become the largest manufacturer of golf clubs in both units and dollars, doubling that of the nearest competitor; Northwestern manufactured and sold more than 7 million clubs per year.

Within the next two decades, competition in golf club design and manufacturing had risen dramatically, and drastically bit into Northwestern sales. As a combative reaction, Northwestern modified the long standing company philosophy and began manufacturing a ‘higher end’ model of clubs and selling them through golf pro shops; this new line was called Pro Select. Pro Select’s offices were in Elmhurst, IL.

Hook a Kid on Golf Foundation , and the Nat Rosasco Heritage Cup Youth Fund, in which he raised close to $2 million for high school students with disabilities who were in need of money for college. Nat II continued charitable work for the needy of Chicago right up until his death in 2012 at age 83.

Nat Rosasco is remembered fondly by many Heritage Cup Youth Fund graduates, by many more Chicago area Italian Americans, and by generations of older golfers. And as for his company, in October 2004, Northwestern Golf employees were given notice that the company was ceasing to do business and that they no longer had jobs. In the same month a bank, as intermediary, arranged for Northwestern Golf’s tangible and intangible assets to be sold to other companies outside of the USA. Beneath a layer or two of dust, many Chicago attics, basements, and garages are likely to still contain one or more Northwestern golf clubs. The Northwestern Golf Company may be gone but it is not forgotten.

My dad has a full set of Pro Bilt IIs in his garage in a huge staff-type bag. He's had them probably since the late 80s or early 90s. They were the first clubs I actually took out and hit to get acquainted with the game before I went and got really into it and started buying my own clubs. Still have the original Northwestern double arrow grips on them too. It's amazing at how small the driver is compared to everything today. I think my 5w that I've got is bigger than his driver. I really should throw some cheap grips on them and take them to the range one day and see how they do.

I have in my bag / basement two nearly identical putters that I think were made by Northwestern. The first is a Pro Select 'Select Edition 4" putter, more or less identical to this one on eBay. The second is a 'Powerpoint by Tour Select' putter - can't find similar online. The both have the same 'Tour Match' grips and 'Acculite' shafts. One has a 'Pro Select' foil sticker on the shaft; the other has a 'Tour Select' foil sticker. The heads are identical in shape, except for the different stamps in the base. Also, the Tour Select has a basketball-like pebble in the centre of the face / sweet spot. Anyways, both these putters are, at least in my hands, surprisingly good... I tried to look this equipment up online, and from what I can tell, Tour Select was one of Northwestern's brand names. Given that these are nearly identical clubs, I presume 'Pro Select' was another Northwestern brand name. Does anyone know anything more about these two putters? I suspect they were both cheap K-mart gear... I'm just surprised how good they feel.

I'm not 100% sure of this, but if memory serves correct, the Northwestern name had really developed negative connotations by the 90s. I remember my first new 7 piece set, Northwestern "Classics" which were muscle back 3, 5, 7, 9 irons, and a 1+3 solid plastic woods. Yecccch. Though the price was right from Woolco. So I think they started marketing more clubs under the "Pro Select" badge, which was reserved for mid-level retailers such as Sears. Northwesterns likely still showed up for a bit in the bargain retailers (K-Mart), but those too eventually turned into Pro Select. Then they went under. Except for their really crappy stuff, I never had a problem with their gear - my brother had a set of their higher-level clubs (likely $350 in 1986), and they were well-made CB irons with decent metal woods. Putters are a funny animal though. I once had a Northwestern putter similar in design to the one you highlighted on eBay, and I hated it. Almost like it was out of balance or something. This being said, you can putt with just about anything if you like it and are comfortable with it. Though I typically run screaming from any putter with a graphite shaft. Seriously?

When I was on my HS golf team (1988-1989) I had a teammate with a set of Northwestern clubs he bought new from K-Mart. In two seasons of play, the grooves wore off his most used irons (6-PW). I've seen other clubs with worn grooves, but they were well over 10 years old. He really liked the soft feel of the irons, because they were soft pot metal.

If you are used to a specific 'feel', anything else that comes along that doesn't feel the same will initially feel worse in a sense.
I presume 'Pro Select' was another Northwestern brand name.
Indeed it was. There was a time in the late 90s when a Pro Select driver was produced (the Black Plasma IIRC, it was under 250cc, that should give you the time frame), it had some form of ceramic treating to the face. The face was harder than anything else on the market, so it was claimed, and was said to produce some rather healthy results. Of course, because of the Pro Select name, it wasn't likely to go anywhere. I nearly acquired one in 1999 or so. There were a LOT of positive reviews on it.
WOW, that's too bad and I am sorry to hear that. Nat was without question the last "character" in the golf equipment business, one about whom you could say really was larger than life. A couple of my best memories of things in my life in the golf equipment business can be attributed to Nat Sr. In 1984 when I was doing research for my first book, The Golf Club Identification and Price Guide, a big part of the book was to be a somewhat detailed synopsis of all the equipment companies who were going to have their club models listed in the book. I made a trip to Chicago to interview people with the then several golf companies located there to get their history. I interviewed Nat personally and was able to do so in his office. WHAT AN OFFICE it was! it was all done in ornate Louis XVI furniture and art, perhaps a little gaudy, but definitely a show and definitely "Nat". Their office and factory at this time was right in the middle of old Chicago, right next to a branch of the elevated train, so stories about possible involvement between Nat, Northwestern, and the old Chicago mob were passed around the industry a lot. Probably none of them were true because Nat and his bother LeRoy were very upstanding guys, but given Nat's image and the company's location, one could definitely wonder! During my interview, Nat did tell a story about a day when a number of guys from GOLF magazine were coming to his office to interview him for an article on the company. Most of the GOLF mag guys were vets and long time friends of Nat, but one of them was a green, wet behind the ears writer, a real rookie. So the GOLF mag vets along with Nat thought that it would be appropriate if they would pull this newcomer's leg a little during their visit. While sitting in the reception area on the second floor outside Nat's office, the veteran GOLF mag guys started to wind this kid's chain, making up stories about Northwestern's alleged mob involvement and planting the seed that possibly Northwestern was one of the mob's top money laundering places. This kid's eyes apparently were getting larger with each yarn the GOLF mag vets were spinning. Finally Nat comes out to greet them, and being in on the joke, down the hall with Nat comes one of his employees in his janitor's uniform, with a big laundry bag hoisted over his shoulder. As the guy walks past the GOLF mag guys, Nat says to the janitor, ". . . and you be sure to take real good care of that "laundry" because we wouldn't want to lose it." The kid's eyes were as big as silver dollars as he watched what he thought was the "money launderer" head down the stairs with a sack of currency over his shoulder! That was Nat and God bless him. I wish this industry had more like him, but we're all happy he was a part of this industry and left some great accomplishments and memories. TOM
My brother had a set of Northwesterns in the late '90s that he bought at Farm and Fleet in Janesville, WI. They were decent clubs but had graphite shafts that were pretty whippy.

My first set of clubs were Northwesterns. My father bought them for me as a Christmas gift (I think) probably around 1978 or so. I'm sure they came from either Kmart or Montgomery Wards at the time. Didn't really pickup the game back then but did go to the range a few times a year. For all I know, they may still be buried in my Mom's garage.

iforgot about the powerpiont shaft. i have a 3 wood i used to crush with one in it. one of the best sand wedges i have ever used is a northwestern. has almost no bounce. picks the ball clean from tight lies. real players club.ladies model has nancy lopez on it-mens has gary player on it. its better than any other wedge i have seen. just a killer club. also have a 13 wood -i kid not!

Thanks for the replies to this thread. I heard Bob Murphy on PGA Tour satellite radio the other day, and it made me think, "Whatever happened to Northwestern?" I started playing golf seriously around 1980 when I was 12, and my friends and I noticed that Northwestern was the K Mart brand. When one of us would hit a really bad shot, we'd say, "Maybe you could be on the Northwestern staff like Bob Murphy." Later on when I learned a little more about him, I realized he had been a pretty darn good golfer and probably wasn't playing what was on the rack at K Mart.

Nice thing about Northwesterns were that almost anyone could buy them and get out on the course.

Hi. Googled Chico Miartuz and this thread came up. My first clubs were a set of Northwestern Chi Chi Rodriguez with very flexy aluminum shafts. Never been able to get away from the hook since. As far as the old Tomahawk clubs, I think Bryan Symonds, owner of the course where I live, Winston Trails, has the license to reproduce them. Last I talked to him they were being sold in Sports Authority (several years ago). I use to be an assistant at Bayshore, where Chico taught. He helped me tremendously with my game. Been struggling and trying to remember what he taught me. "Communism is the right hand, democracy the left" "Hold the club like you hold your p****", Etc. Chico's teaching style was one of a kind but he got results. Lefty, I think I use to play with you in the Clevelander game. Hows life? Or are you Lefty from the Bayshore Par 3. If so how the heck are you? If you know how Chico is doing give me a holler. Up in Palm beach now if you ever want to play. Danny Brooks

Great thread, brings back fond memories. In Ohio we had a Kidding's auto store that sold auto parts (of course) also sold fishing and golf equipment and a ton of it was Northwestern as well as Wilson. My first full set of irons was a set of Wilson Autographed Mickey Wright, I didn't know Mickey was a women but didn't bother me when my uncle proudly told me I was playing women clubs as I hit them great, I even went back and bought a Laura Baugh SW. Like I said fond memories.

Nat Rosasco started my father in business around 1950. The story my father told me was that he sent several golf companies a letter explaining that he was a WW2 war veteran and wanted to start a sporting goods store. He asked each company if they could front him several sets of golf clubs and he would sell them in his store and pay for them after he sold them. Most companies either didn't reply or told him no. Nat sent him a couple dozen of sets of clubs and told him to send the money when he can, no hurry. That was the start of a long business relationship and great friendship for my father. I remember going to Chicago to visit Nat II in the mid 60's. Him and his family were very gracious hosts. He was obviously very wealthy but always made us feel extremely welcome. I remember riding in his limo and getting a tour of his factory. My father made a decent living off of that store for more than 40 years thanks to Nat.

My dad's first metal "wood" was a Northwestern Thunderbird with the "power kick" shaft IRC. Shaft had one step and it was a fairly pronounced one at that. This must have been 1983 or 1984. He loved that club. Been looking periodically on ebay for one just to give to him for kicks.

I believe that one of Northwesterns sales pitch were the "lost wax process" for making clubs.

Actually, that was a term usually given to Ping clubs in the early '70's, but most anything that was cast (or, "investment cast") utilized the "lost wax method" for casting.

My first full set of clubs was a set of Chi Chi Rodriguez Northwestern woods and irons from K-Mart in the late '60's or very early '70's. I had saved up my money caddying, and bought a set of 9 irons (2-9, PW) and 3 woods (1-3-4).

Used to absolutely blister the driver....for about a month, then the face insert popped out, and that was that! They were only epoxied in...no face screws.

Passed that set on to buy a used set of Power Bilt Citation woods (1-2-3-4) and irons (2-9...had to scrounge up a wedge). I had a pretty fair slice at that time, as I had never been properly taught, but I could hit the driver & 4 woods pretty well, but never the 2 & 3 woods. They sat EXTREMELY closed (I'd guess about 8 degrees) and I sold them off to another guy who played at the course I was now working at for $20. Straightened his tee ball right out!

Wish that I still had that set of Chi Chi's....I remember the faces of the irons being exceptionally rough, not the light sand-blasted finish you usually found on irons at that time. Had the reminder grips on them as well...they hadn't be deemed "illegal" quite yet.

Guess the good old USGA has been poking their nose into making golf easier for the average Joe for many more years than most people consider

I'm staring at your response and trying my very best to not respond back with some sarcastic put down. This has been an interesting and informative thread, and it's clear that many different people's lives have been touched by the Rosasco family. Not to mention a lot of people used Northwestern clubs early in their golfing life. If you are not capable of respecting that please go away and find a different thread to comment in and leave this one be.

My first set were Northwestern's from Sears (I think) and cost $25 for D, 3W, 3,5,7,9 and a putter, purchased in 1977. I've still got them! Forged muscle back blades and molded plastic woods!

I had these when I first started playing. Dying to see them again I developed my game w them

Played football and basketball in high school. They started a golf team and some friends asked me to play on the team to give it some credibility. This was late 70's so they were taking some crap for the golf team. I joined mostly because my mom got in my arse about it. No clubs so they had two school sets. I played my first season of golf on the varsity team with the schools set of Northwestern golf clubs from Kmart. The next year mom got me the Lee Trevino Faultless set. Great memories!!

My first club was a NW Nancy Lopez blade 6 iron. Learned to hit a ball with that thing out in grass field by our elementary school.

I'm very pleased to have stumbled upon this thread. I had no idea about the company history or the unique owners. After learning the game as a kid with a yard sale set of mixed clubs, my dad bought me a brand new set of northwesterns at Kmart in the early 90s, completely out of the blue. My dad didn't play, but knew I enjoyed the game a lot. I cherished those sticks. Sure they weren't the best, but they were light years better than what I was using. I distinctly remember washing them after taking then to the range for the first time, and the gold paint fill on the irons washed away with lukewarm water! Several years later we moved to Florida, near the coast, and within a few weeks being in the salt air those clubs rusted so bad. They must have been cast from pot metal! Regardless, they were my first new, matching set and hooked me for life.

TollBros

Hit an old Northwestern persimmon head with a steel shaft today. Man am I glad technology is where it is. Highest ball speed was 15 mph below my M2, launch angle 3 degrees lower, spin 1000 rpm higher. Longest overall was 42 yards below my longest of the day with my M2, and when I mishit it, I lost 30 yards instantly. Horrible. Haha

Well said, Nessism!

I think most of us that didn't get hand-me-downs from our dad or another relative started playing golf with Northwesterns or Sam Snead Blue Ridge, or Nicklaus Golden Bear or something of the like. And it isn't just nostalgia for that stuff that makes this thread a really interesting read; clubs like Northwesterns and the others were an important part of the evolution of golf equipment in the days before Ebay and big box golf stores.

In this article, we discuss everything you need to know about the Northwestern Golf Clubs with each and every piece of information you need to know. So stick around until the end to find out what you’ve been looking for. Welcome to Sportic Media.

When did northwestern start making clubs.

Northwestern has been making vintage golf equipment since 1929, and the company has been around for more than 50 years. Putting heads, golf shafts, and vintage clubs may all be made of steel and wood.

Northwestern has its share of the glitzy high-end golf scene. It markets its ProSelect line of limited-access clubs directly to a select group of 2,000 customers. Additionally, like other producers, it supports celebrities like Gary Player, J.C. Snead, Bob Murphy, Judy Rankin, and Nancy Lopez who use and endorse the product.

Actually, Northwestern was the first company to sign professionals when it promoted a line of clubs endorsing the legendary Byron Nelson in 1963.

When did Northwestern stop making golf club?

And as for his business, employees of Northwestern Golf received notice in October 2004 that the company was closing its doors and that they would no longer be employed.

WORST RATED GOLF CLUBS EVER MADE DRIVER IRONS PUTTER.

What do I know about them?

Yes, I do know a little about them. When Northwestern was at its peak in the 1970s and 1980s, it was the largest golf club manufacturer globally in terms of units produced.

Yes, the majority of it was made up of cheap clubs that sold to the general public at stores like KMart and similar outlets. However, they occasionally produced some VERY fine golf clubs.

For example, their Thunderbird model irons from the 1980s were the best there was and are considered classics by the majority of well-informed club collectors.

What was my experience with Northwestern golf clubs?

When I started last month, I had northwest irons. The only issue was the grips, which were otherwise fine. The player, not the club, is responsible. Prior to purchasing some name brand clubs, I would become proficient at hitting those older Northwesterns.

I feel like I easily received equal performance for half the price I paid, which is a really great value overall. The deep face is very attractive. Without a doubt, this club has a good solid feel and is long and very forgiving.

Also entertaining is the very distinct high-pitched “ping” that occurs at impact. After using it for a little over a season with 2-3 games per week, I did have the original shaft break inside the hosel. The ball flight I get with my 10 degree is very nice.

The appearance is excellent, and I should point out that the top paint seems to be very resistant to chips and scratches—something I have done to many clubs but not this one.

Some related FAQs.

Should i buy 20 year old golf clubs.

There is no proof that golf clubs get worse with age. Clubs that are well-maintained will last a lifetime. Clubs older than ten years should be examined for better alternatives, but clubs younger than five years do not require replacement aside from wear and tear problems, to which wedges and forged irons are most susceptible.

Are 30 year old golf balls still good?

When properly stored, a golf ball has a lifespan of roughly ten years. Golf balls do get stale, but with the right handling and storage, the performance is typically maintained.

Is it worth buying 10 year old golf clubs?

Purchasing used golf clubs is a smart move for the majority of golfers, especially those on a tight budget. Additionally, at the same price point, a used set of higher-end clubs will typically perform better than a brand-new set of lower-quality clubs.

Location: Portugal | ' A Great five days!

A great five days! The service Stewart provided was second to none. A very slick operation. The hotel, Marina club in Lagos, was above expectation with very helpful staff, along with a good choice of breakfast and wide selection of drinks in the bar. Very close to restaurants and town with a choice for every taste. The golf course, Palmares was very challenging with three very different nine holes. I have 16 very happy golfers along with myself already thinking of our next golfing holiday.

Masters 2024 picks: A non-gambler’s guide to winning (or surviving) your Masters pool

2105430754

Yong Teck Lim

For the most part, I don’t bet on golf. The thought of me losing money because someone can’t make a five-footer when it matters doesn’t sit well with me. What’s more, knowing who is going to play well on any given week in professional golf, in my non-gambler opinion, is laughable. I know you have the data to prove me wrong, but this is what I tell myself.

RELATED: Masters 2024: Power rankings for the entire field at Augusta National

One week that I make an exception, however, is during the Masters. Like many of you, I see the friend and office pools as low stakes chances to get in the action on the weekend. If nothing else, it’s a social necessity. And with Augusta National being such a familiar course that favors a specific type of player, this is the week where I feel like it is possible to pick correctly.

That said, as a non-gambler entering these pools filled with far more experienced sports bettors, it can be intimidating. That’s why I’ve asked Golf Digest’s golf gambling content editor Steve Hennessey to help me out. Even if his advice might not net me a return (but seeing his correct pick of Akshay Bhatia to win last week, it might ), it will help me keep my sanity over the weekend.

RELATED: Masters 2024 picks: The 13 best bets for Augusta National

The Best and Worst Value Bets for the 2024 Masters

Drew Powell: First off , Steve, you’ve heard my logic against golf betting. What’s your quick elevator pitch to get me on board more regularly?

Steve Hennessey, editor of our gambling content: No other sport provides as much bang for your buck as betting on golf . If you’re a golfer and you pay attention to the events and the players, you need to dip your toe in the muddy waters.

You're entertained for four days, and the odds are typically great. If I put it to you like this, maybe you’ll come around: If you bet on an NFL game, it’s three-ish hours, and the odds for the spread will be just slightly worse than even. In golf, you get an entire weekend—plus the odds for a winner can be extra juicy (i.e. my Akshay Bhatia bet ... $20 to win $1,300!). Hitting one bet can set you up for months and months of extra cash.

DP: I hate that I’m wavering already. OK, back to the Masters. With various office and friend pools this week, what’s your advice for deciding which to enter?

SH: It depends on what your goal is. Do you want the best chance of winning? Enter the pool that you know has the most casual gamblers/golf fans. My buddy’s golf pool is one that he runs for his dad’s golf group—and no offense to them, but they aren’t the sharpest group. I feel like I can gain an edge in that one . But if your goal is just to increase your enjoyment of the Masters and get in a pool with buddies or family members, enter the Masters pool where you know the most people. The group chats and banter are priceless. Also bonus points for pools that feature a live leaderboard. Again, that’s the beauty of a golf pool—you can track your results in real time for four days.

RELATED: Masters 2024 picks: The bets we made on Monday

DP: How many entries should I make in each pool?

SH: It depends on several factors: A) The amount of money you want to invest (please gamble responsibly); B) The format of your pool; C) The conviction of your picks.

Again, if you have more knowledge than the other pool participants, you’ll gain an edge by having a second entry. Instead of making a tough decision between two players, just play them both. The key is nailing the right combination.

You also need to play game theory if the pool size is big . For instance, the large majority of people playing pools will use Scottie Scheffler this year. You will gain a ton of leverage by picking anyone other than Scheffler. It’s risky because if he wins you won’t have a chance to win. But if you have doubts about Scheffler and think another elite like Jon Rahm or Brooks Koepka could outperform him, you’ll increase your chances of winning.

More Masters preview stories

northwestern tour select golf clubs

DP: I try to have one “heart submission” and one “head submission.” In other words, I’ll pick a few guys I think have a good shot, and then a few others that I just want to play well. My logic is that regardless of who plays well or poorly, I’ll be happy. Good strategy?

SH: I can’t say that your strategy of picking guys who you don’t think will play well is a sound strategy, but again, it depends on the purpose of your pool. If you want to increase your chances of winning, I’d encourage you to maybe roster one or two guys in your “heart” lineup that are just hunch plays ... but the rest better be backed by conviction. Otherwise, you’re lighting money on fire.

DP: OK, fair enough. Now for my picks this year. Tell me why I’m a genius or why I should consider my $50 lost money.

Scottie Scheffler Joaquin Niemann Min Woo Lee Erik Van Rooyen

Jordan Spieth Ludvig Aberg Shane Lowry Corey Conners

SH: This is what I’m talking about. Your heart lineup has some solid picks—Shane Lowry has been playing great golf just like he did when he finished T-3 here in 2021. Corey Conners remains one of the best ball-strikers in the world and has nice success at Augusta. I think if you swapped out Scottie and Niemann for Spieth and Aberg (I’m down on Spieth and Aberg), you could have a really nice lineup.

Family of 5, traveling in June to Russia. Looking for a tour guide. St Petersburg and Moscow. Want strong customer service and 4/5 star accommodations and experiences!

Tripadvisor staff removed this post because it did not meet Tripadvisor's forum posting guidelines with prohibiting self-promotional advertising or solicitation.

' class=

If your family of 5 has kids, I'm afraid, the general standard tour program will be a punishment for them. It's better to book tours which are designed specially for children – informative, but at the same time entertaining, where the story, as well as the timing of the tours, will be adopted to the age of your kids. Let them blow off great energy in Peter & Paul Fort and gardens with trick fountains of Peterhof. A canal tour with tasting local ice cream is a must!

For your accomodation I suggest:

5* Kempinski Hotel Moika,22 ( https://www.kempinski.com/en/st-petersburg/hotel-moika-22 )

4* Pushka INN ( https://www.pushka-inn.com/ )

Both are in 5 min walk from the Hermitage, Nevsky prospect.

European Tour Properties has extended its portfolio of Destinations by welcoming Moscow Country Club as the 28 th  venue within its extensive network of world-class venues.

Situated only an hour outside of Moscow, the club features Russia’s first 18-hole championship course and will host the Staysure Tour’s VTB Russian Open Golf Championship (Senior) from August 17-19, 2018.

The Country Club combines five-star hospitality with top-quality golf in a tranquil setting close to the Russian capital, and this new partnership extends the network to 28 venues within 21 countries, across three continents.

The course itself was designed by renowned architect Robert Trent Jones II and is nestled within dense Russian forest of thick firs and birches, offering a fascinating landscape for any golfer.

In addition to golf, Moscow Country Club features a five-star hotel, cottages and townhouses to rent throughout the year, and a choice of eight restaurants for guests to enjoy.

With an indoor and outdoor pool, state-of-the-art gym, tennis courts and other leisure activities, the extensive facilities at Moscow Country Club make the venue a strong addition to European Tour Properties’ network.

David MacLaren, Head of European Tour Properties, said: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Moscow Country Club as the 28th member of our network of world-class venues and particularly pleased to welcome our first Destination in Russia.

“Moscow Country Club is both a fine golf resort and an established tournament venue. Our other Venues are sure to welcome the further expansion of our network within key geographical locations worldwide.

“In August, Moscow Country Club will host the VTB Russian Open Golf Championship on the Staysure Tour and we look forward to golfers from all over the world visiting our newest Destination.”

Andrei Dukhovny, Director of the GlavUPDK affiliated Moscow Country Club, said: “We are very excited to be part of the European Tour Properties network. We are looking forward to working with their team and using their expertise to enhance our customers’ experience both on and off the course.

“Moscow Country Club is a stand-out Russian golfing destination, with the Staysure Tour set to visit in August for the VTB Russian Open Golf Championship.

“By becoming a European Tour Destination, we are hoping to grow even further and continue developing as a venue.”

The best golf clubs in moscow: luxury, exclusivity, and entertainment.

 • The Best Golf Clubs in…

In Russia, the western concept of building architecturally beautiful golf courses filled with modern and luxurious amenities has found fertile ground. What was considered a frivolous pastime during the time of the Soviets has become the latest trend for the stylish set. These days, there are countless options around Moscow to practice golf, polo, ski, yachting, and other sports alongside 5-star hotels, luxurious country houses, and magnificent villas.

The game of golf is a sport that requires passion and expertise. It is also part of a culture that considers this pastime a synonym of social prestige and exclusivity. In recent years, the new Russian elite has turned to golf as a vehicle of integration in the era of globalization. Golf courses are also meeting and socializing spaces where Muscovite tycoons can relax and also seal business deals.

Golf Courses in Russia

The Moscow Country Club, Pestovo Golf & Yacht Club, Tseleevo Golf & Polo Club, and Zavidovo Golf Club, PGA National Russia are some of the most exclusive and elegant golf courses in Russia. Some of them have made it to the list of Top 15 golf clubs in the world, a source of great prestige for the country.
