IL VOLO ANNOUNCES NORTH AMERICAN TOUR WITH PERFORMANCE AT THE FOX THEATRE MARCH 31, 2022

(DETROIT – November 5, 2021) – Today, superstar Italian trio IL VOLO releases their highly anticipated new album Il Volo Sings Morricone (Sony Masterworks), available everywhere now . Endorsed by Ennio Morricone’s family, Il Volo Sings Morricone is a dedication to the beloved Maestro and an exciting journey through the art and music of one of the greatest composers of the 20th century. In support of the new album, the trio will head out on the road once again on a 25-date North American tour, including a stop at the Fox Theatre on Thursday, March 31, 2022 at 7:30 p.m. Additionally, the TV broadcast special, Il Volo: Tribute to Ennio Morricone, will make its premiere on PBS stations nationwide beginning November 27. Check your local listings for airdates & times here. 

Tickets (starting at $29.50) go on sale Friday, November 12 at 10 a.m. and can be purchased at 313Presents.com , LiveNation.com , Ticketmaster.com or the XFINITY Box Office at Little Caesars Arena. The tour event organizer is requiring all attendees of this event to have received a negative COVID-19 test (72 hours before the event) prior to entering the venue OR be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (at least two weeks after final dose). Unvaccinated fans under 12 years of age will be required to take a COVID-19 diagnostic test (72 hours prior to the event) and provide proof of negative result prior to entering the venue. Il Volo Sings Morricone is comprised of 14 songs that recall the Maestro’s legendary melodies from “The Ecstasy of Gold” (from The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly), featuring new lyrics written specifically for the trio by Ennio Morricone’s son, Andrea Morricone to “Your Love” (from Once Upon a Time in the West). Another highlight is “I colori dell’amore” (“The Colors of Love”), an unreleased track composed by Andrea for the trio, which was unexpectedly performed live for the first time at The Arena di Verona on June 5, 2021. Rounding out the album is “E più ti penso” ("The More I Think of You"), a medley of Ennio Morricone’s scores from the films Once Upon a Time in America and Malèna, a nod to the trio’s live performance of the song with the Maestro at Piazza del Popolo in Rome in 2011. It also features three artist collaborations: violinist David Garrett on “La Califfa” (“The Lady Caliph”), HAUSER from 2CELLOS on “Se” (“If”) and trumpet player Chris Botti on “Come Sail Away.”  

In celebration of their new album, Il Volo will also embark on a world tour, which kicks off in North America on March 4, 2022 in Canada and continues to the United States beginning March 11.  The 25-date North American tour will include stops at iconic venues like Radio City Music Hall in New York, Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, and the Orpheum Theatre in San Francisco. 

On Il Volo Sings Morricone, audiences can expect to delight in the unforgettable melodies by the celebrated conductor, musician, and composer of some of the greatest film soundtracks in the history of international cinema together with the trio’s unique voices.

And after 11 years from the first promotion, il volo returns to australia, but this time for three concerts., the australian audience has been waiting for many years to be able to attend concerts there in australia, and now, after a long wait, is satisfied, because there are three concerts : one in melbourne, one  in adelaide and one in sydney., but as usual, let’s go in order., first of all, let’s take a dip in the past, when 11 years ago ignazio, piero and gianluca, really children, came to australia., here they are guests at the morning show..

How sweet to see these old videos, and to reconfirm how much skill there was already in Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca.

And here is a promotional video made by John St. Peters, an Australian singer and presenter who recommends not to miss the Il Volo concert in Australia.

So, after having done the beautiful concert in Los Angeles on October 15, the boys immediately left for Australia, a long plane ride awaited them, 15 hours of travel plus the long check in and arrival and a difference of 18 hours more time than in Los Angeles, and a concert to do in Melbourne on the 18th, really amazing how they could do all this, but they did !!!

October 18: melbourne, let’s say right away that the lineup of songs has changed, many songs have been removed and others from their repertoire have been added..

My way you will laugh with piero, and hallelujah, my way and hallelujah – click here, at the end of the song after the applause, a fan calls gianluca, from the seats above, and gianluca answers, everyone laughs., the fan says in italian that she has been following them since they were little. gianluca thanks everyone because they have been following them for so long, thanks for the support and love even from so far away and says they will try to come to australia more often, people respond with a roar of agreement., (the rest of the speech is in english).

In Adelaide, Il Volo was also greeted by Radio Italia 1 , an Italian broadcaster that broadcasts from Adelaide.

Wonderful to have il volo in adelaide., congratulations to frank scali for bringing them to australia. and to radio italia uno, president dino musolino for helping bring this extraordinary trio to adelaide., we do not miss out this time..

In Adelaide there is also RADIO ITALIANA 531,   which followed and broadcast part of the concert on the radio.

In the afternoon il volo was interviewed by radio italiana 531, a nice and friendly interview, a chat between friends talking about football, cooking, about the beginnings of il volo. radio italiana 531 also asked piero ignazio and gianluca if they are aware of how much love there is for them in australia, but here are the words of radio italiana 531:, “stefano and marco, interviewed the band il volo on the day of their concert in adelaide at thebarton theater, on the occasion of their world tour., ignazio, piero and gianluca opened up and made themselves known better, between official promotional moments and fun and authentic moments., we had a great time with il volo. 💗 ”, here is a nice video taken during the interview., interview – click here, and then in adelaide, there are things that happen and are good for the heart, things like these that marisa borrillo tells us:, “sometimes you have to believe that anything is possible 🙏 we are so happy to have received backstage access for the opportunity to make carlo’s longtime dream a reality, our sincere gratitude goes to “loretta” who made it possible, thank you lori 💗   and the guys 💗  for taking a moment of their time to make carlo happy 🙏💘, 🎼 il volo … 🎼..you’re very good …. you are amazing 👏  ❤.

Like all good things, everything has a beginning and an end.

Gianluca thanks with these beautiful words: “@ gianginoble11 canada, the united states and australia. thanks for your love. we had a great time together. soon il volo”, after so many successes, it’s time to go home., piero, ignazio and gianluca will soon return to italy, a week of rest, but then, immediately to work, there are good projects to prepare, and many surprises for the fans and even three concerts in italy, before the end of the year., get all ready, because these guys will surprise us a lot .

Another great one, Susan. As usual, thanks for the interviews, videos, photos etc. in Australia. It’s hard to believe their tour is over; just seems like everyone was looking forward to it. But it seems to have been a very successful one. Yep – all bood things must come to an end.

Judith, I wrote the post and not Susan, but it doesn’t matter. It was certainly a great success, and it was not taken for granted, after such a long absence, the audience soon forgets and then people could be bored by the continuous changes of dates that took place, but I think there is a lot of love around them, and once again people proved it to them.

SO sorry, Daniela. Don’t know where my brain was; I did know you had written the post. Again, my apologies.

When will we know the 2023 tour schedule? I’m ready for them to come back to USA!

The tour has just finished and I think there are many projects to be completed and then in the first months of 2023 the South American tour, this is what is known so far. We all look forward to the new dates to be able to plan our days of joy!

Yea, good show. 😉 I have joined the fan club just to make sure I don’t miss anything. I’ve been going to do so for ages, if not longer, so this was the kick I needed.

I intend going to the sound check, M&G, and anything else that might be going on/off. Oooooo sooooo excited now. 😉 😉 😉

Zdravka, I would like to thank you for all the nice videos you took at the Sydney concert. I have only been to one concert so far, but I found the most memorable moments were the comments and in between their songs when the guys talked and joked and you captured a lot of those moments! 😊

Either that, or Robin Goodfellow (my unfriendly sprite) didn’t want to to see it. Hmmm, he has been very quiet lately, I wonder if he is up to some sort of mischief!!! 🙁

Whenever someone says that this post or another post is the best one, I don’t understand how they can decide. To me they are all the best, each in it’s own way, because Daniela and Pat deliver the goods. I’ve just gone through the Australian videos and comments and although I’m tired, don’t know if I’ll sleep tonight with all those songs playing over and over in my head.

Just wish they would have done “Would she even know me now” in their Toronto concert. It’s one of my very favourites, although I have so many favourites in their songs, like Mark says, it’s hard to pick even one.

Joyce, you are lucky, three concerts. I like it when they change their lineup, I like to hear different songs and I like them all too.

Yes, I went to the Melbourne concert, it was stunning! But, I’m 81, so when they come to Australia next year, I will be past such a long journey. And there are many people right here in Queensland who are of Italian descent, many of their fathers came out to work as sugarcane cutters, hard working men who raised families who are now the backbone of our state, so I’d love to know how to ask them to come to Brisbane in 2023.

Another wonderful article, loved all the videos and Hi to the ladies that made Ignazio laugh so hard, I laughed so hard myself, also the video of Ignazio and Piero with the bee, that was hilarious. I did get to the Sunrise Concert this year, fantastic, I was so sorry I didn’t drive up to Disney World to watch them tape the Christmas Concert as I live only a few hours away but didn’t know anything till the last minute. I know everybody wants to see them all over the world but hope it won’t be long until they return to the states, really miss them not being here. Thanks again Daniela and Pat for all your great and hard work.

Il Vovo (formed in 2010) is the award-winning Italian operatic pop trio of Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto and Gianluca Inoble, hailing from Sanremo, Italy.

In 2009 the three members of Il Vovo, tenors Piero Barone and Ignazio Boschetto, and baritone Gianluca Ginoble, all competed as teenagers in the televised singing competition “Ti lassie luna canzone”. Ginolble’s version of the Andrea Bocelli song “Il mare calm della sera” went on to win the first episode, after which the director of the show Roberto Cenci had the idea of putting the three singers together. Adopting a similar format to the infamous Three Tenors, the group performed for the first time with the single “O sole mil” on the fourth episode of the show. Singer-songwriter and music producer Rony Renis subsequently heard the performance and went to great lengths to sign them to Geffen Records.

Originally named “I Tre Tenorini”, the group contributed to the 2010 charity single “We Are the World 25 for Haiti”, a rendition of the 1985 hit “We Are the World”. Towards the tail-end of 2010 the name was changed to Il Vovo and the group recorded their debut, self-titled album in the Abbey Road Studios in London, England, which featured the national and international numbers “Il mondo”, “Un amore cosí grande”, and Charlie Chaplin’s “Smile”. Issued by Geffen Records in November 2010 the record peaked at No. 6 on the Italian Albums Chart, representing their mainstream breakthrough. The U.S. release of the album was promoted by appearances on “Good Morning America”, “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”, and “The Tonight Show”, and charted at No. 10 on the Billboard 200.

Il Vovo’s sophomore album “We Are Love” failed to achieve the success of its debut, peaking at No. 100 on the Billboard 200 upon its release in 2010. Featuring duets with the likes of Placido Domingo and Eros Ramazzotti, the album was promoted by performing at the 80th annual tree lighting at the Rocketfeller Center in New York. A month later the group also sung at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Oslo, Norway, performing the tracks “Il Monde” and “We Are Love”, before the group embarked on their 2012 South American Tour.

The internationally released Christmas album “Buon Natale: The Christmas Album” earned its release in October 2013, featuring classic Christmas songs from Latin, Spanish, German, and English-speaking cultures. The record topped the Billboard Holiday Albums chart after which Il Vovo received two Latin Billboard Music Award nominations for Top Latin Albums Artist of the Year and Latin Pop Albums Artist of the Year for which they won the latter. The group’s third official album “Sanremo grande amore” arrived in February 2015 led by the single “Grande amore”. Featuring covers of infamous songs by Eduardo De Crescenzo, Matia Bazar, and Renato Rascel, the album topped the Italian Albums Chart and peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard Classical Albums Chart.

My husband and I went to an Il Volo concert in Miami on March 5, 2016.

It was stupendous and my husband and I both loved it. The boys were in fine form and their singing was glorious. We were amazed at their capability of sustaining such a rigorous show with all their singing and banter. The music accompanying the boys was also wonderful. All in all it was a wonderful experience.

The banter of the boys was cute and appropriate for such young men and it seemed to me sweet and good-natured, though maybe it was a tad too long in spots. Also, my only disappointment was that they did not sing all the songs of theirs that I love, but I guess we would have been there until morning. That is what CD's are for, I guess!

I took binoculars with me to better see the boys and was not disappointed. They were as cute in person as on their Utubes. There sure was alot of hair on that stage with all the facial stubble and hair, Cute !

We were a little too cozy in the seating of the arena and I drove my husband crazy with all my getting up and down for standing ovations.

All in all it was a wonderful experience and I hope to see them again as soon as I can. I hope they take good care of themselves and don't overdo it.

First time I saw Il Volo was on PBS. After that concert on TV, I new that I had to see them live on stage. Living close to Casino Rama in Canada, I was very excited to find out that they would have a concert coming up in February of 2016. I could hardly wait for the day to see those very talented young men on stage.

Was I ever in awe to hear them live. There powerful voices are amazing, the singing flawless. They can be very serious, but at the same time funny and entertaining. The varietey of song choice couldn't have been better. I can't wait to attend the next concert.

They are very much in love with their home country, Italy. Speaking and jooking to the audience quite a lot in their own language was a bit frustrating to us english speaking fans because we didn't understand. Meanwhile the Italian fans laughed their head off.

Please let the rest of the world laugh too.

Had a wonderful time at the concert yesterday evening with my daughter. Felt I was in Italy with all the flag waving from their many excitable fans. Loved the humour between them all crazy crazy. Will be going again if they come back to England. The duet with Gianluca and Piero with My Way was a wow factor for me as was Memory sung by Ignazio and also the one and only Unchained Melody Bridge Over Troubled Water Il Mondo O Sole Mio and Life is Beautiful being one of my favourites. Seeing as my ancestral family is from Lucca I felt right at home with it all singing along with most of their songs. Fantastic evening. Love from Maureen & Louise Bradley xx

Love the boys, oops! Young men now. Been listening to them since they first started. Beautiful, extremely talented, personable. Their voices are heaven sent. If there is one thing I’d change it is the orchestra’s volume. It seems as if they are in competition with the guys instead of supporting them. At times you have to strain to hear the vocals above the instruments. Thank heavens the guys have strong enough voices to compensate. However, I don’t think they should have to. We go to their shows to hear them, not the orchestra. In all honesty, they could sing a cappella and be just as good.

I have seen Il Volo for the 3rd time, they sure have grown up, their personality has not changed in anyway, they are still very much down to earth young men. Their choice of music is great as well as their voices. When they sing in Italian & French, it brings me back to my youth, as I was born in Florence and grew up in Paris. There is no doubt their career has a great success within a short time. I am looking forward to see them again, hoping they will return to the US and maybe be able to talk to them. Il Volo was the most fantastic show I have ever seen. I have been to four of their concerts in 6 years and their voices keep getting better all the time. I saw them in D C two weeks ago and then again in Orlando this past week. The shows were slightly different. My husband had never been to one of their concerts and he said "the music penetrated my body...their voices are the best I ever heard."

I know all of the Italian words to their songs, yet do not understand what I am saying. I am an Il Volo fanatic!!!!

Saw Il Volo at the Royal Albert Hall in London this year 23rd May. It was an amazing evening with good seating to view their performances of old and new songs. Always a good atmosphere surrounded by lots of excited italians. This was my second show of seeing them and hope to again in 2018, having followed them since their beginning as teenagers. Their wonderful concerts not to be missed.

hello, my wife and I have not ever attended a live performance of ll Divo but it is her dream to see them live, she has terminal bone cancer and also mixed dementia and would love to see them whilst she is still fit enough to travel so when and if they ever come to England could you or someone let me know.

What a joy it was to hear these delightful and talented young artists! We have not had such an enjoyable and romantic evening in years. Our only complaint was the venue as we were not able to choose our seats which were deplorable, add to that the hard benches to sit on for two hours, did not help. Shame on you Ryman, you could do much better for these prices!

The concert was amazing from begining to end and the atmospgere was electrifying ! The show was fast moving without a dull moment and with one beautiful song after another eacg one leaving you breathless! I went with my 83 year old mum ( i am 53 years old) and she to was transported to Il Bel Canto sung by 3 angels! A concert not to be missed !

But it’s just the beginning. On April 20, their new world tour will start from China and then move to Japan. It will then touch the main European capitals in autumn and will arrive in the USA, Canada and Latin America in 2025.

Billboard Italy met them on a rainy morning at the end of March in Milan. They joke with each other from the start, except when they reflect on what their music means to their audience.

What determined this change of approach?

Gianluca : After great projects in recent years, especially the tribute to Ennio Morricone, we thought the time had come to sing original songs. We wanted to try to be ourselves 100%. Being an interpreter is great, but singing your own songs is a completely different thing. The songwriters got to know us personally because they came to our concerts. We tried to make a real concept album, very diverse, with an intro and an outro. The album perfectly reflects who we are. Well, some songs reflect one or the other of us in particular. We want to demonstrate that diversity is our strength.

Which song represents each of you the most?

Piero : I too would say “Ad Astra,” then “Saturno e Venere” featuring Irama. We immediately got on well in the studio with him, despite coming from different worlds, and we saw the way he writes his songs. Irama thinks of the melody first, then the words come. It was very fascinating to watch him at work. I also really love “Opera” for the message it sends: try to live your days without thinking too much about tomorrow. It is in small gestures that we must seek happiness.

What’s the most important message you would like to convey to young people who feel under pressure?

Piero : Always look for enthusiasm in what you do, always persevere by pursuing your passions, without putting money first.

Gianluca : I’d say the meaning of the Latin expression “Per aspera ad astra” [“to the stars, through difficulties”]: you cannot achieve great results if you don’t sacrifice yourself. The main problem for young people, but also for adults, is not knowing themselves enough. That way, you don’t feel a sense of purpose.

What kept you together for so long?

Ignazio : We could say the love for music, but that would be too obvious. It is the awareness that our strength lies in our unity and our diversity. As soloists we would never be the same.

Do you feel respected by other artists?

What is the most significant international tour you have done?

Piero : Definitely Japan, where we’ll be returning in a few weeks. We can’t wait. Our music genre gave us the opportunity to have unique, unrepeatable experiences. Last year they wanted us for the inauguration of the Kiyomizu-dera temple in Kyoto, a world heritage site immersed in a forest. We sang between the columns, dressed in white. The emotion was indescribable. Japan is a destination that we recommend to everyone: it showed us how we should behave, always. Respect for others, even for strangers, is an essential value there.

You said that at one of your concerts you initially thought the audience had fallen asleep.

Ignazio : The Japanese close their eyes to concentrate. At the end, however, everyone gets up and wants to come and say hello on stage – strictly waiting for the right moment, of course. Even the way of clapping is different, it’s quieter.

What have been the biggest sacrifices of these 15 years?

Gianluca : Sacrifices are constant, especially in terms of homesickness, despite we do what we love most. There were moments when we didn’t know what to do, like the year before we won Sanremo. In 2014 we kept changing record companies and didn’t know which path to take. With this new album we want to show who we are even more.

And the best moments?

Gianluca : There are many. The victory of Sanremo 2015, the tour with Barbra Streisand, the “We Are The World for Haiti” concert in 2010. But this last edition of Sanremo was also a way to show how much we have grown as artists.

What’s the most unexpected feature you would like to have in one of your songs?

Piero : Lazza, also because he’s very good at playing piano.

Initially formed for a television performance, Italian operatic pop trio Il Volo has become a thriving international act. • Il Volo comprises baritone Gianluca Ginoble and tenors Piero Barone and Ignazio Boschetto. Their name translates to “The Fight.” • Barone, Boschetto, and Ginoble each appeared as teenaged soloists on Italy's Ti Lascio Una Canzone television series. Show creator Roberto Cenci suggested they perform together. • On the series, the three singers joined to perform the Neapolitan standard “O Sole Mio.” The collaboration impressed veteran producer Tony Renis, who arranged a meeting with Jimmy Iovine and Ron Fair. The execs signed the trio to Geffen, making them the first Italian act on the label. • After the release of their eponymous 2010 debut album—which reached No. 10 in the US and No. 6 in Italy—Il Volo performed on a series of US TV shows, including American Idol, Ellen, and Entourage. • Il Volo represented Italy at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest with “Grand amore,” the title track off their fourth studio album. They finished in third place. • In 2016, Il Volo issued Notte Magica: A Tribute to the Three Tenors. The live album features original Three Tenors member Plácido Domingo.
