Katatonia – Australian tour 2024
Led by founding members Jonas Renkse and Anders Nyström have always been and will forevermore be one thing—a vessel of deep emotion; shrouded in Scandinavian despair and a universal longing for salvation.
Over the course of an unbelievable thirty years and eleven studio albums, Katatonia have never shied away from evolution. They have embraced the concept of growing through rejuvenation to soothe their blackened hearts and scarred souls. At the very core of this entity, there still lingers the essence of their remarkable passage through time and space. Their music is pure and heartfelt from the northern wilderness; cast in mournful dirges for a world that needs a renaissance.
The Stockholm-based architects of existential dread have long since ceased to represent a band that merely makes music and have instead cultivated a living, breathing pilgrimage that mirrors humanity’s longings and
shortcomings; its dreams and horrors. Clad in their dynamic trademark range of darkest metal, soaring post-rock and elaborate prog wanderlust, Katatonia deliver their very own raven-black gospel of urban dystopia, elemental longing and the universal wish for catharsis.
Musicality over scene, progression over deadlock, collective over ego—Katatonia is their whole lives and will always be.
“Absolutely mind-blowing performance” – Metal-rules.com
“The Fall of Hearts is full of both darkness and light, heaviness and softness, drama and understatement. It’s an album that is intricate with a lot of subtleties, but also a lot of accessibility.” – Loudwire
“Katatonia took to the stage… and just smashed it. From this exquisite warm up, one could tell that this was a night dedicated to the true art of making music…” – Heavy Mag

They have embraced the concept of growing through rejuvenation to soothe their blackened hearts and scarred souls. At the very core of this entity, there still lingers the essence of their remarkable passage through time and space. Their music is pure and heartfelt from the northern wilderness; cast in mournful dirges for a world that needs renaissance.
The Stockholm-based architects of existential dread have long since ceased to represent a band that merely makes music and have instead cultivated a living, breathing pilgrimage that mirrors humanity’s longings and shortcomings; its dreams and horrors.

Absolutely brilliant, been a fan of Katatonia for more than a decade now, first time seeing them perform live and I was blown away! I also did like Misery loves co!
First time being in Kraken as well, friendly staff and good beer, I will most likely return back for some other bands.

Love them!! First time seeing them live for Night is the New Day 10th anniversary Tour and love everything about them! They played the whole album. Was even surprise that the guitarist was singing for second vocalist in Departure song.
They also played one song from their other albums:
Falls of Heart: Falls of Heart
Dead End kings: Lethean
Great Cold Distance: July
And also one cover song from Judas Priest
As always an incredible performance from Katatonia. This is the forth time I have seen them and I have never been disappointed. Whether they play an indoor venue or a festival they sound impeccable. Whoever their sound engineer is KEEP HIM/HER. Really balanced and showcases not only the amazing vocals but the musicality of the band too!
Although I was not as big a fan of the newest album I was pleasantly surprised with the delivery of this new material - might have converted me to loving it. However, there was still enough of a range of songs from their entire back catalogue to keep any fan happy.
Anyone who remotely likes Katatonia should see them live. Absolutely phenomenal.

KATATONIA Interview: Australian Tour, Sky Void of Stars and 70000 Tons of Metal
Swedish ethereal post-metal heavyweights KATATONIA return to Australia for their first headline tour in nearly a decade, solemnly set the stage for a nocturne both crushing and exhilarating.
Their music is pure and heartfelt from the northern wilderness; cast in mournful dirges for a world that needs renaissance.
The Everblack Podcast spoke to Katatonia drummer Daniel “Mojjo” Moilanen about their upcoming Australian tour, latest album Sky Void of Stars , the current absence of Anders Nyström , appearance and 70000 Tons of Metal and what we can expect from the next album.
