Air India servicing from Bangalore-Kochi-Agatti every day except Sunday. A special arranged Speed boat service available on Monday, Wednesday and Friday to connect Agatti and Kavaratti. Tourist is requested to book their flight accordingly after reserving their accommodation at Kavaratti. Sea passage is by M.V Arabian Sea, M.V. Lakshadweep sea, M.V Amindivi, M.V Minicoy and M.V Kavaratti. This can be possible as per the published schedule. One can spend 2-5 fun filled days on the island, Swimming, Snorkeling and Kayaking are included in water sports. A full-fledged water sports institute is functional at Kadmath. • 30% cancellation charge will be deducted if the booking is cancelled between 29th to 7th days before departure of Check in.
• No refund if cancelled within 7 days before the departure of Check in.

Refund Policy

• 100% refund if the schedule is cancelled due to unfavorable weather conditions and/or other unexpected technical faults. No damages/claims will be payable except money paid by them.

Thinnakara island is situated just opposite side of Bangaram island and share the vast lagoon and coralline banks, the actual lagoon area amounts to 125.21 Sq kms. On the north-south edge of the lagoon Parali i, Parali ii, Parali iii and Kalpitty are situated. Thinnakara is a tiny teardrop shaped island which lies 8 km northeast from Agatti. • If cancellations are made 7-15 days before the start date of the trip, 50% of total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees.
• If cancellations are made within 0-7 days before the start date of the trip, 100% of total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees.
• In case of unforeseen weather conditions or government restrictions, certain trips or activities may get cancelled. In such cases operator will try their best to provide an alternate feasible. However a cash refund will not be applicable for the same.
• Cancellations are strictly subjected to cancellation policies mentioned on the website & are irrespective of the date of booking.

Onboard the ship: – A short video depicting the various facilities available on board the ship and about the rules and regulations to be followed by the tourists on board for their own safety and for the safety of co-passengers is screened. A film is shown to the tourist giving a brief history of Lakshadweep, its environment, the coral reefs and its management. Avoid usage of plastic on the islands.

• Do not pick up/ pluck corals as souvenirs. It is a punishable offense.

• Do not pluck tender coconuts yourself as unauthorized plucking of coconuts is a theft.

Adventure & Entertainment Ashore : The activities include water sports, shore excursions and entertainments that include cultural activities and folk dances in different islands. , snorkelling, Swimming, boating and other water sports is arranged during the day tour. Museum and Mosques, Marine Aquarium at Kavaratti are some of the attractions. The small islets Pitti, Tilakkam and Cheriyam at Kalpeni, At Minicoy tourists can visit Village Houses, Lighthouse built in 1885 and Tuna Canning Factory. A 300-foot tall lighthouse built by the British is a majestic landmark. The lighthouse offers some breath-taking views of the island from the top. Every inch of the island is covered with coconut grooves and you can see the blue sea along with the vast horizon, the tourists will be taken for a long drive through dense coconut groves and winding village roads.

Samudram Tour Itinerary

DAY 1 : Departure From Kochi (sequence of the Islands differ as per the voyage of schedule.) On the departure date passengers are requested to reach Lakshadweep Wharf and Passenger facilitation center, Kochi by 10 a.m. Every Passenger including children has to carry their photo id cards. Please be patient while in queue for check in. After the security check in you will be transported by bus to Wharf and board to MV Kavarathi. A short video depicting the various facilities available on board the ship and about the rules and regulations to be followed by the tourists on board for their own safety and for the safety of co-passengers is screened; lunch and dinner will be served on board M.V Kavaratti. Ship departs Kochi after the completion of MMT Survey around 2 p.m.

DAY- 2     :  Minicoy Island

The Ship will reach Minicoy Island early in the morning. Minicoy is said to the most beautiful of all the Lakshadweep Islands. Due to its geographical closeness to Maldives, Minicoy gives you the feel of being in Maldives. If you look at Lakshadweep in the map, you will notice that Minicoy is a single dot quite far from the cluster of Lakshadweep Islands. It is located between 8° 17° North Latitudes and 73° 04° East Longitudes, 398 km away from Kochi. It is isolated from the main group of islands. Minicoy is 10.6 km long and is the second largest island. It has one of the largest lagoons with a small uninhabited islet Viringili on its south has a village beautifully maintained and decorated. Lava is the traditional dance performed on festive occasions. Colorful race boats called “Jahadhoni” are a feast to the eye of any tourist. A large number of men from this island are employed as sea men in ships all over the world. People in Minicoy speak the same language as Maldives whereas rest of the islands of Lakshadweep speaks a mixture of Malayalam, Tamil & Urdu. Minicoy is an important center for tuna fishing and a tuna-canning factory on the island processes the catch. A 300-foot tall lighthouse built in 1885 by the British is a majestic landmark. The lighthouse offers some breathtaking views of the island from the top. Every inch of the island is covered with coconut grooves and you can see the blue sea along with the vast horizon. • DAY – 3   Kalpeni Island

Ship will reach Kalpeni Island early in the morning. It is located between 10° 05° North Latitudes and 73° 39°East Longitudes and is 287 km from Kochi. Also known as Koefaini, Kalpeni islands is a group of three islands and is one of the most picturesque areas of Lakshadweep. Cheriyam, Pitti and Tillakkam are the islands which together forms the Kalpeni islands. These islands are inhabited and are frequently visited by tourists.

A peculiar feature of Kalpeni is a huge storm bank of coral debris along its eastern and southeastern shorelines. Beautiful lagoon surrounding the island and is rich in coral life. Ship will reach Kalpeni Island school. This is also a great spot to enjoy water sports including Scuba Diving, Snorkeling, Reef walking, canoeing, kayaking and sailing yachts.

At Koomel Beach, the huts with changing rooms for bathing are available. A nonstop entertainment ashore in Kalpeni Island. Lunch will be served followed by Folk dance will be performed at 15:30. Evening tea, Departure time at 19:30, 20:30 Dinner on board.

• DAY – 4   : Kavaratti Island

Early morning Ship reaches Kavaratti Island. It is located between 10° 33° North Latitudes and 72° 38°East Longitudes. Kavaratti Island is one of the most beautiful gems from the Lakshadweep group of islands. It lies 360 km from the shores of Kochi. It doesn’t have its airport and Agatti is the nearest airport to the island.

Spread across an area of 3.93 sq km, Kavaratti is a small island but there is no dearth of natural beauty at the islands. The island is a home to 12 atolls, five submerged banks, and three coral reefs. The spectacular views of the Arabian sea, the sparkling white-sand beaches offers solace amidst the tranquil nature. The beaches are laden with the swinging coconut trees, and once you take a dip inside the vast expanse, you can witness the abundant marine life of the island. Kavaratti is best known for its beautiful sceneries and the enthralling water sports. The beautiful and calm lagoon offers an ideal spot for water sports, swimming and snorkeling. Sunbathing or just lazing around on the beach can be a heady experience. Marine life enthusiasts can visit the marine aquarium, which has an excellent collection of aquatic specimens. The underwater life in the lagoons can be seen through glass-bottomed boats. Kayaks, wind surfers, water skiing and sailing boats are available. The Dolphin Dive Centre is attractions for those who love scuba dive. After breakfast around 8:30 AM proceed to Kavaratti by boat. A nonstop entertainment ashore in Kavaratti Island. Cancellation Policy

• If Travel date is greater than 30 days , 10% of Tour fare + 5% GST
• If Travel date is grater than One week and Less than 30 days , 25% of Tour fare + 5% GST

For the Weekend – Lakshadweep Samundram and Coral Reef packages – as you will be spending the full day on the island you can carry some extra clothes for wash and change as the facility to wash and change are available on the island. 15. Tour Package Itinerary

4 night/05 days samudram (ltc/lta cruise package).

The Package is a Five-Day cruise (For Indian Nationals and Foreigners) which takes tourists to three islands in Lakshadweep – Kavaratti, Kalpeni and Minicoy, for day excursions and water sports.

During the day, Lunch, Refreshments and Entertainments will be provided ashore.

Swimming, Snorkeling and other water sports are conducted during the day tour. Sightseeing (Marine Museum, Tuna Factory, Villages, etc.). Folk dances by local performers will be arranged in all the islands. Overnight stay is aboard the ship, and in the night we would be sailing to the next island.

MV Kavaratti. The ships have cafeteria, snack bars, doctor on call, entertainments and upper-deck promenade.

Ship facilities include three independent galleys, halls, recreation place with a swimming pool and a helipad. While planning your travel itinerary please provide a day at Kochi, both on the way to Lakshadweep and on the way back.

Ship programmes/Itineraries are subject to change without notice due to ships arrival / departure or other unforeseen reasons.

Government employees and their family members traveling on leave can get LTC/ LTA Certificate from the Sports Manager onboard. On 2nd day onwards in the cruise.

In case of a change in the ship schedule liability of SPORTS is restricted to transporting the tourists back to Cochin by immediate available conveyance of the ship only. Pre booking option for Jan, Mar, Apr, May 2020

1. Pre-booking amount is 50% of total cost at the time of booking, balance amount should pay once the dates are finalised. 2. Pre-booking is done against the preferred week, and the seats will automatically be booked on the dates/sailing of the chosen          week.

3. The sailing date will be decide and published by Lakshadweep Administration and Shipping & Aviation Department.

4. For peak time bookings, seats will be based on first-come-first-serve basis. 5. The actual dates of week-wise schedule will be published on later stage. If you need to make cancel or modify your                   reservations, this can be done free of charge until the confirmation of dates by Lakshadweep administration.

Lakshadweep Trip 101: Your guide to 5 days of sun, sand and fun

A s soon as Prime Minister Narendra Modi's pictures from his Lakshadweep visit surfaced on social media, Google search for this destination skyrocketed. Lakshadweep is a tropical archipelago consisting of 36 islands (one has been lost to sea erosion) in the Laccadive Sea, off the Malabar coast in India.

While the picturesque islands of Lakshadweep are being pitched as a pocket-friendly alternative to the Maldives , the tension between India and the Maldives has also taken centre stage.

So, while the world (especially India) is zeroing in on Lakshadweep as their next getaway, how exactly do you get to Lakshadweep?

How to reach 

This popular beach destination can be reached via water and air. As per the official website of the Union Territory, Lakshadweep can be reached by ship and flights, operated from Kochi (Cochin), Kerala. 

By air: Air tickets from places like Delhi or Mumbai to Kochi may cost around Rs 7,000 to Rs 10,000 per person (one way). 

• Only the Agatti island in Lakshadweep has an airstrip. The flight from Kochi to Agatti takes approximately one hour and thirty minutes.
• As of now, only Alliance Air operates between Kochi and Agatti.
• The air ticket may cost between Rs 5,500 to Rs 6,000 per person (one way).
• You can also take a flight from Bengaluru to Lakshadweep via Kochi . The tickets may cost between Rs 7,000 to Rs 25,000 for one person (one way).

By bus and ferry: Apart from this, you can also take a bus to Ernakulam in Kochi from Bengaluru, then reach the Willingdon island jetty via taxi and take the ferry to Kavaratti, which is the capital of Lakshadweep.

By ship:  As per the government website of Lakshadweep Tourism, seven passenger ships – MV Kavaratti, MV Arabian Sea, MV Lakshadweep Sea, MV Lagoon, MV Corals, MV Amindivi and MV Minicoy, operate between Kochi and Lakshadweep islands.

• The journey may take around 14 to 18 hours, depending on the island chosen.
• The ship tickets can be booked online through the official website.
• You can also book the Lakshadweep Samudram package for the trip. 
• If you prefer luxury, you can also take the Cordelia Cruises ship. 
• A five-night package from Mumbai to Lakshadweep via Kochi may cost between Rs 93,541 and Rs 1,13,461 (per person), depending on the room category. 

Where to stay

You can book your stay through the official website of Lakshadweep tourism . The islands of Bangaram, Kadmat, Kavaratti and Thinnakkara all have accommodation options on the government website. 

You will get several room types to choose from. However, the booking is subject to availability.

Here are the room options and their per-night cost.  

• Bangaram Island Resort : For an air-conditioned cottage, you'll have to spend Rs 18,000 per night on single or double occupancy (all inclusive). 

You can also get a wooden hut here by spending Rs 24,000 (per night, all inclusive) on single and double occupancy. 

• Kadmat Island Resort : For a non-AC room, you'll have to spend Rs 5,000 for double occupancy and Rs 3,000 for single occupancy per night. The range goes up to Rs 11,000 for double occupancy and Rs 8,000 for single occupancy if you choose the super deluxe AC room. 
• Kavaratti Island Resort : The only option available here is an air-conditioned suite. It is priced at Rs 11,000 per night on single and double occupancy. 
• Thinnakkara Island Resort : You will get to stay in a non-AC tent here. It will cost you Rs 10,000 for double occupancy, and Rs 8,000 for single occupancy per night. 

How much does it cost?

Is visiting Lakshadweep expensive? It depends on your budget.

You will have to spend around Rs 60,000 to Rs 1,50,000 (including airfare) per head for a five-day trip. 

You can also check travel packages available on different online portals for visiting this destination. These packages may cost between Rs 25,000 to Rs 1,00,000.

What to do in Lakshadweep

Best time to visit

As per Lakshadweep tourism's website, the best time to visit this destination is from October to mid-May.

While the resorts in Lakshadweep are open throughout the year, commuting via ship gets difficult during monsoon (mid-May to September).

Now, here's a 5-day Lakshadweep itinerary.

Day 1  

• Arrive in Kochi.
• You can head directly to Lakshadweep by taking a flight to Agatti, and stay at a pre-booked hotel in Bangaram.
• Reach Bangaram via boat from Agatti. Two-way inter-island transfers may range from Rs 4,000 to Rs 8,000 per person.
• Take the first day slow, and settle in at your hotel.
• Try water activities like boating, kayaking, fishing, snorkelling and more in Bangaram.
• Spend the night in Bangaram.
• Head to Kavaratti and stay at a pre-booked hotel there.
• A boat is the best medium for inter-island transfer.
• Try water activities in Kavaratti. 
• Head to Kadmat island, a popular nesting spot for marine turtles. 
• Stay at a pre-booked hotel in Kadmat.
• Enjoy the island and try water activities. 
• Head back to Agatti from Kadmat.
• Fly back to Kochi and then to your destination. 

Now, the most important thing to keep in mind when visiting Lakshadweep:

• You will require a Protected Area Permit (PAP) to visit Lakshadweep. You can apply for the same through the e-permit portal of the Lakshadweep Administration. 
• The permit is valid for 30 days from the date of issue and the fee is Rs 300 per person.
• Non-Indians must obtain a mandatory Rs 300 entry permit.
• A Green Tax of Rs 300 per person is charged upon arrival at Agatti airport.
• ATM and credit card facilities are limited in Lakshadweep, so make sure you carry enough cash. Set aside some for tipping.
• Lakshadweep is ecologically fragile; so, responsible travel is of the utmost importance.
