Burj Khalifa

Highlight: The world's tallest building and Dubai's best panoramic city views

Dubai's landmark building and major tourist attraction is the Burj Khalifa , which at 829.8 meters is the tallest building in the world and the most famous of the city's points of interest.

For most visitors, a trip to the observation deck on the 124th floor here is a must-do while in the city. The views across the city skyline from this bird's-eye perspective are simply staggering.

The slick observation deck experience includes a multimedia presentation on both Dubai and the building of the Burj Khalifa (completed in 2010) before a high-speed elevator whizzes you up to the observation deck for those 360-degree views out across the skyscrapers to the desert on one side and the ocean on the other.

Enjoying the view from the Burj Khalifa

Nighttime visits are particularly popular with photographers due to Dubai's famous city-lights panoramas.

Buy your Burj Khalifa "At the Top" Entrance Ticket in advance to avoid long line-ups, especially if you are planning to visit on a weekend.

Dubai fountain

Highlight: A family-friendly evening entertainment spectacle

Wrapping around the Burj Khalifa are the gardens of Burj Park, with walkways dotted with modern art sculptures. Burj Park is where you come to see the Dubai Fountain display on Burj Lake.

Modeled on the famous Fountains of Bellagio in Las Vegas, this is the world's tallest performing fountain, with water displays shooting up to 150 meters high into the air.

The 30-minute-long displays take place regularly after dark, and although the display itself is free, there are entrance charges to access the add-on experiences.

The floating platform of the Dubai Fountain Boardwalk is one of the most popular experiences for close-up views, while there are also opportunities to take an abra (traditional wooden boat) onto Burj Lake to see the fountains from the water.

Dubai Mall

Highlights: Dubai Aquarium, plenty of family activities, dining options, and brand-name shopping

Dubai Mall is the city's premier mall and one of the city's best places to visit for a day of shopping and indoor activities to keep the kids busy. It provides entry to the Burj Khalifa as well as the Dubai Aquarium.

There is also an ice-skating rink, gaming zone, and cinema complex if you're looking for more entertainment options.

The shopping and eating are endless, and there are nearly always special events such as live music and fashion shows within the mall. The most famous of these are the annual Dubai Shopping Festival in January and February and the Dubai Summer Surprises Festival in July and August.

Dubai Aquarium

Highlights: An awe-inspiring introduction to the underwater world

One of the city's top tourist attractions, the Dubai Aquarium houses 140 species of sea life in the huge suspended tank on the ground floor of the Dubai Mall.

Although there is free viewing from the mall, the highlight of a visit here is entering the Underwater Zoo, with its three-story high, 270-degree views along the length of the glass-panel tunnels.

As well as viewing the vast amount of marine life, the Dubai Aquarium offers plenty of aquatic experiences and things to do for visitors who want a close-up encounter with some of the aquarium's inhabitants, from hand-feeding eagle rays to diving with reef and tiger sharks.

Aquaventure Waterpark

Highlight: Water-based theme park fun for a day devoted to family entertainment

Atlantis Aquaventure Waterpark , based at Atlantis, The Palm on the Palm Jumeirah—Dubai's famous man-made island development—is a great place to cool off after a few days of hectic shopping and sightseeing.

The waterslide action here is excellent and world-class, with the Aquaconda, the world's longest water slide; a nine-story-tall slide, aptly named the Leap of Faith; and water coaster rides.

There's also underwater safaris using Sea TREK helmets; a dedicated water play area for smaller children with slides; and for when all your energy has been used up, a 700-meter sweep of white-sand beach.

Address: Crescent Road, Palm Jumeirah, Dubai

Off-roading in the Dubai desert

Highlight: See the UAE's dramatic interior of sweeping dunes on Dubai's best day trip option

You don't have to travel far from Dubai's coastal skyline of skyscrapers to reach some of the UAE's desertscapes of rippling dunes.

Both the dune fields and desert of the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve and the orange-hued dunes of Maleha (actually in the Emirate of Sharjah ) are within day-tripping distance of the city.

Desert adventure tours can combine a range of activities, from sandboarding, camel rides, and 4WD safaris to traditional Arabian falconry displays and desert dinners under the stars. There are also options for overnight camping under the stars.

The typical tour itinerary, giving visitors a taster of desert life, is easily slotted into even a short trip to Dubai, taking around six hours door to door, with a mid-afternoon departure from the city.

The Dubai Desert 4x4 Safari offers a half-day desert adventure and includes a camel ride, sandboarding lessons, a sunset barbecue, and a belly dancing show.

For a less rushed tour experience, choose one of the companies that operate inside the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve, where trips can include wildlife drives to spot the reserve's free-roaming herds of gazelles and, if you're lucky, Arabian oryx.

Burj al-Arab

Highlights: Treat yourself to one of Dubai's most famous dining experiences

The Burj Al-Arab is the world's tallest hotel, standing 321 meters high on its own artificial island on the Dubai coastline.

Designed to resemble a billowing dhow sail, the exterior of the building is lit up by a choreographed, colored lighting show at night.

Decadent in every way possible, the Burj Al-Arab is one of the most expensive hotels in the world, with the most luxurious suites costing more than $15,000 for one night.

For those without unlimited credit, the way to experience the over-the-top opulence is to book afternoon tea at Sahn Eddar (a minimum spend is required) in the soaring atrium lounge.

Non-guests can also book dinner at the Ristorante L'Olivo at Al-Mahara where floor-to-ceiling glass panels in the dining room walls allow you to view sea life while you eat, or you can enjoy French and Italian classics for lunch or dinner with city vistas at the Michelin starred Al Muntaha .

Address: Jumeirah Road, Dubai

Mall of the Emirates

Highlight: Cool off from the desert heat with some winter sports then shop till you drop in the mall

Mall of the Emirates is one of the city's most famous malls, with the spectacular (and surreal) Ski Dubai facility inside.

The indoor ski slope is complete with chairlifts and a penguin enclosure, all at a continuous temperature of -4 degrees Celsius.

There's also a cinema complex and a family entertainment center with a whole host of rides aimed at both the big and small.

The shopping opportunities are boundless, as are the eating options, offering every conceivable world cuisine.

Address: Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai

Abra ride on Dubai Creek

Highlight: Abra rides across the creek for city skyline views

Dubai Creek separates the city into two towns, with Deira to the north and Bur Dubai to the south.

The creek has been an influential element in the city's growth, first attracting settlers here to fish and pearl dive. Small villages grew up alongside the creek as far back as 4,000 years ago, while the modern era began in the 1830s when the Bani Yas tribe settled in the area.

The creek is where you come to capture city views from the water, either by taking a trip on one of the many dhows that have been restored as tourist cruise boats or by hopping on an abra (small wooden ferry) between the ferry points on the creek's Bur Dubai and Deira banks.

On the Bur Dubai side of the creek, rubbing up against the Bastakia neighborhood, the waterfront has been regenerated as the Al Seef district, with a waterfront promenade backed by traditional coral-block and limestone buildings, a floating market, and shops selling crafts. It's a great place for a stroll with excellent water views.

Farther southeast down the creek, on the Deira bank just north of Al-Maktoum Bridge, is the Dhow Wharfage. It's still used by small traders from across the Gulf who sail their dhows onward to Kuwait, Iran, Oman, India, and down to Africa's horn.

This tiny remnant of Dubai's traditional economy is a fascinating place to wander around and watch cargo being loaded and unloaded on and off the dhows.

At the southeastern end of Dubai Creek, just before the creek joins with Dubai Canal, is the newly developed Dubai Creek Harbor with a waterfront marina walkway, which offers excellent vistas of the city skyline.

Beautiful flowers blooming at the Dubai Miracle Garden

Highlight: Colorful photography options amid Dubai's most creative gardens

This is the zaniest garden ever. Not content with constructing the world's largest buildings and malls, Dubai has created the world's largest flower garden. Dubai Miracle Garden spans 2,000 square meters and is home to a reputed 100 million flowers.

Everything that can be covered with flowers has been, from twee English-style cottages to windmills and trucks. There's even a flower version of the Burj Khalifa.

Stroll the walkways and enjoy the riot of color and the wacky flower displays.

Address: Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Rd, Al Barsha

Bastakia (Old Dubai)

Highlight: Admire Dubai's vernacular Gulf architecture amid the lanes of the tiny old town quarter

The Al Fahidi Quarter (previously known, and sometimes still referred to as the Bastakia neighborhood) was built in the late 19th century to be the home of wealthy Persian merchants who dealt mainly in pearls and textiles and were lured to Dubai because of the tax-free trading and access to Dubai Creek.

Al Fahidi occupies the eastern portion of Bur Dubai along the creek, and the coral and limestone buildings here, many with walls topped with wind-towers, have been excellently preserved.

Wind-towers provided the homes here with an early form of air conditioning—the wind trapped in the towers was funneled down into the houses. Persian merchants likely transplanted this architectural element (common in Iranian coastal houses) from their home country to the Gulf.

Lined with distinct Arabian architecture, the narrow lanes are highly evocative of a bygone, and much slower, age in Dubai's history.

Inside the district, you'll find the Majlis Gallery , with its collection of traditional Arab ceramics and furniture (housed in a wind-tower), and the Al Serkal Cultural Foundation with a shop, café, and rotating art exhibitions (located in one of the historic buildings).

Global Village at night

Highlight: Evening entertainment hub with a global cultural focus

From October through April, this entertainment park provides family-friendly entertainment themed around taking visitors on a journey around the world.

Global Village's 26 country pavilions, ranging from Iraq to Japan and Russia to South Korea, each offer an individual experience of that country's culture, entertainment, and heritage. It's a unique option in the city for evening entertainment for families with little ones in tow.

As well as the pavilions, there are plentiful dining and shopping options on-site. Younger members of the family will enjoy the fun-fair-style Carnaval with plenty of rides, such as bumper cars, carousels, Swiss swings, and a big wheel, along with faster rides and a roller coaster.

Address: Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Road, Dubai

Abra in Madinat Jumeirah

Highlight: Scenic canal cruises on traditional abra boats for easygoing sightseeing

The development complex of Madinat Jumeirah is a dining and retail district with a couple of five-star hotels, all set along the palm-tree-fringed banks of an artificial canal network.

All of Madinat Jumeirah has been styled to mimic traditional Gulf architecture, with wind towers and mashrabiya detailing.

Souk Madinat Jumeirah here offers easygoing shopping, with a large variety of traditional craftwork and souvenirs from the Gulf and across the wider Middle East, but the main reason to head here is to hop on an abra (small wooden ferry) and cruise down the canal.

Abras leave regularly from Souk Madinat Jumeirah's promenade and loop around the waterway, providing plenty of photo opportunities of the lush gardens and traditional architecture of Madinat Jumeirah, with the tall swooping sail of the Burj Al Arab in the background.

Address: King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street, Dubai

Aerial view of Jumeirah Beach Residence beach

Highlight: Dubai beach life summed up with everything you need at your fingertips

This long, wide strip of sandy white bliss is the number one beach destination for Dubai visitors .

Some of Dubai's most popular beach resorts are strung out all along its length, making this one of the most popular places to stay for visitors who want to make hitting the beach a major part of their Dubai stay.

The large areas of the beach have excellent facilities, with plenty of sun loungers, restaurants, lifeguards patrolling the stretches designated for swimming, and water sports operators offering jet skiing, kayak rental, parasailing, and boat rides.

This is a safe beach choice for families traveling with tots, as the turquoise water of the Gulf lapping the shore is shallow and calm.

Address: Dubai Marina, Dubai

Dubai Museum

Highlight: Delve behind the high-rise facade to discover Dubai's heritage

Dubai's excellent museum is housed in the Al-Fahidi Fort, built in 1787 to defend Dubai Creek. The fort's walls are built out of traditional coral blocks and held together with lime. The upper floor is supported by wooden poles, and the ceiling is constructed from palm fronds, mud, and plaster.

In its history, the fort has served as a residence for the ruling family, a seat of government, garrison, and prison. Restored in 1971 (and again extensively in 1995), it is now the city's premier museum.

The entrance has a fascinating exhibition of old maps of the Emirates and Dubai, showing the mammoth expansion that hit the region after the oil boom. The courtyard is home to several traditional boats and a palm-leaf house with an Emirati wind-tower. The right-hand hall features weaponry, and the left-hand hall showcases Emirati musical instruments.

Below the ground floor are display halls with exhibits and dioramas covering various aspects of traditional Emirati life (including pearl fishing and Bedouin desert life), as well as artifacts from the 3,000- to 4,000-year-old graves at Al Qusais archaeological site.

Sitting slap-bang between Dubai's older neighborhoods clustered around the creek and the city's modern sprawl, this ginormous 150-meter-high picture frame is one of Dubai's latest sights.

Inside Dubai Frame , a series of galleries whisk you through the city's history and explore Emirati heritage before you travel up to the Sky Deck, where there are fantastic panoramas of both old and new Dubai to be snapped on the viewing platforms.

Afterwards check out Future Dubai gallery, which imagines what a futuristic vision of the city will look like.

La Mer Beach

Highlight: Take a day off sightseeing and head to the white sand for a relaxed break beside the sea

Backed by a fringe of palm trees, the stretch of La Mer Beach in Jumeirah is an easygoing spot for a full day of sun and sea.

Water sports operators here offer Jet Ski trips, boating, fly-boarding, and kayaking for beachgoers who itch to get off the sand, but for those who simply want to sloth out between swimming, there's plenty of sun lounger rental and a wide variety of cafés and restaurants just a hop from the sand for snacking and full meals.

La Mer is a sheltered bay with tranquil water, so it's a safe choice for both families and less-confident swimmers. Like all of Dubai's main beaches, it is regularly patrolled by lifeguards during the day.

If the sea and sand aren't enough, at the beach's northeast point, you'll find Laguna Waterpark, with several waterslides, a lazy river, and a surf pool.

Address: Jumeirah Road, Jumeirah

Jumeirah Mosque

Highlight: Gain greater insights into Islam on a tour of Dubai's most famous mosque

Jumeirah Mosque is considered by many to be the most beautiful of Dubai's mosques. An exact copy of Cairo's Al-Azhar Mosque, which is eight times its size, the Jumeirah Mosque is a fine example of Islamic architecture.

This stone structure is built in the medieval Fatimid tradition, with two minarets that display the subtle details in the stonework. It is particularly attractive in the evening when lit with floodlights.

The Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Centre for Cultural Understanding (which also runs a program of tours, lectures, Arabic classes, and cultural meals) organizes guided tours of the mosque designed to try to foster a better understanding of the Muslim faith.

Tours begin at 10am daily, except Fridays.

Address: Jumeirah Road

Kite Beach

Highlight: Learn to kitesurf on one of Dubai's best water sports beaches

Thanks to its surf and prevailing wind, the northern section of Umm Suqeim Beach is Dubai's top spot for kitesurfing.

The beach is home to an array of water sports operators offering equipment hire, as well as kitesurfing lessons, along with paddleboarding and kayak rental.

This long stretch of yellow-sand beach sweeps south along the coast (becoming Umm Suqeim Beach), with plenty of space for sunbathers looking to lap up a lazy day of swimming and soaking up the rays on the sand and excellent facilities and dining choices. There are good views of the Burj Al Arab from the southern end of the beach.

While in the Jumeirah area, it's well worth brushing off the sand for an hour to visit the Majlis Ghorfat Um Al-Sheef just a three-kilometer hop from the beach. Built in 1955, this was the summer residence of the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed al-Maktoum.

The residence, made out of gypsum and coral block, has been restored and maintains much of the original beautiful decor, giving you a better understanding of the opulent lifestyle of Dubai's rulers.

The Majlis Gardens feature a reproduction of an impressive Arab irrigation system, and many shady date palms.

This wide, eight-lane highway is rimmed with towering glass, chrome, and steel high-rises along its entire length. It's one of the best on-the-ground vantage points for Dubai's famed skyscraper views.

Main attractions are along, or just off, the strip between the roundabout and the first intersection, and most of Dubai's famous malls are located along the road's route.

The Dubai World Trade Tower has an observation deck on its top floor, which offers visitors panoramic views (a cheaper option than the Burj Khalifa), and the Gold and Diamond Park (Sheikh Zayed Road) is a one-stop shop for jewelry lovers, with 118 manufacturers and 30 retailers all under one roof.

Deira

Highlight: Shop the traditional way amid the heritage souks of Deira

Deira lies on the northern bank of Dubai Creek and the winding streets here unveil the melting pot of different nationalities that have come to call Dubai home. On the shore, ancient dhows load and unload with modern banks, hotels, and office buildings as a backdrop.

For travelers, Deira is most famous for its traditional souks (markets), which bustle with shoppers at all times of the day.

Deira Gold Souk is world-renowned as the largest gold bazaar in the world.

The Deira Spice Souk sells every imaginable spice, with stalls overflowing with bags of frankincense, cumin, paprika, saffron, sumac, and thyme, as well as the fragrant oud wood, rose water, and incense.

The fish market provides a much less touristy experience.

While in the district, culture lovers shouldn't miss two of Deira's finely restored architectural gems. Heritage House was built in 1890 as the home of a wealthy Iranian merchant and later became the home of Sheik Ahmed bin Dalmouk (a famous pearl merchant in Dubai). Today, it's a great chance to see the interior of a traditional family home.

The Al-Ahmadiya School, constructed in 1912, is the oldest school in Dubai and is now a museum of public education.

Dubai skydiving

Highlight: Get the best aerial views of the city with Dubai's best thrill-seeker activity

For the ultimate sightseeing adrenaline rush while you're in the city, tandem-skydive over Dubai from Skydive Dubai's Palm Drop Zone.

There are bird's-eye views of the city's skyscraper coastline, Dubai Marina, and the artificial islands of Palm Jumeirah, all the way down the 3,900-meter-high plunge.

The entire experience takes around 90 minutes and includes the flight; an instructor you'll be harnessed to during the skydive; and a skydiving camera operator, who'll take pictures during your dive.

If you prefer desert dune scenery, Skydive Dubai also operates a separate tandem-skydiving experience in the desert, about 35 kilometers out of the city.

Skydiving in Dubai is an activity you need to book as far in advance as possible due to limited numbers and the high popularity of the experience.

Dubai Opera

Highlight: Enjoy the best of Dubai's cultural life while on your trip

For nighttime attractions, look no further. Opened in mid-2016, Dubai's classy new opera building is the centerpiece of the waterfront district in downtown Dubai and is a major cultural hub and main entertainment venue.

The Dubai Opera hosts a year-round program of famous musical theater productions, concerts by world-class musicians, opera, ballet, and classical music, as well as smaller productions, comedy nights, and concerts.

The 2,000-seat theater building itself is an astonishing piece of architectural mastery and one of Dubai's new landmarks, with its highly-contemporary glass and steel walls jutting out over the waterfront, built to resemble the curves of a traditional dhow.

Dubai Butterfly Garden

Highlight: Take a nature break without leaving the city

Escape the city's skyscrapers for an afternoon at the Dubai Butterfly Garden . For a slice of nature, this vast butterfly garden, with around 15,000 butterflies flitting under the domed enclosures, can't be beaten.

It's a great chance for kids to get close-up views of butterflies as they often land on visitors' shoulders and hands.

There's a museum here, too, with plenty of information on butterfly varieties, their habitats, and life cycle.

Local music and dance are performed from October to April, and visitors can get advice from practitioners of traditional medicine.

An important stop-off on the migration routes, it's a prime place to spot flamingos in winter when massive flocks of these majestic pink birds wade through the lagoons, backdropped by soaring high-rises.

Various hides in prime spots have been set up within the park to allow bird watchers good views of the birdlife.

Sheikh Saeed Al-Maktoum House

Highlight: Delve into Dubai's history amid the museums of this royal complex

Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum was the Ruler of Dubai from 1921 to 1958 and grandfather to the current ruler. His former residence has been rebuilt and restored as a museum that is a fine example of Arabian architecture.

The original house was built in 1896 by Sheikh Saeed's father, so he could observe shipping activity from the balconies.

It was demolished, but the current house was rebuilt next to the original site, staying true to the original model by incorporating carved teak doors, wooden lattice screens across the windows, and gypsum ventilation screens with floral and geometric designs.

Thirty rooms are built around a central courtyard with wind-tower details on top.

Inside are the exhibits of the Dubai Museum of Historical Photographs and Documents with many wonderful old photographs of Dubai from the period between 1948 and 1953.

The marine wing of the museum has photos of fishing, pearling, and boat building. Throughout the building there are many letters, maps, coins, and stamps on display showing the development of the Emirate.

Nearby is the Crossroads of Civilizations Museum , which explores the United Arab Emirates' historic role as a trading center between Asia, Africa, and Europe long before oil became this region's most prominent industry.

Located inside the old residence of Sheikh Hashr bin Maktoum Al Maktoum, who was a member of Dubai's ruling family, the exhibits trace this coastal area's history as part of the global trade routes, with displays of artifacts and manuscripts.

Also on-site are the Rare Books and Manuscripts Museum and the small Armory Museum.

The district's program of rotating collections focuses both on the work of major artists, as well as highlighting new Middle Eastern talent.

This emerging district is also the place to come for fashion and accessory boutiques by local designers, pop-up restaurants, and café life, and it showcases the energetic and youthful buzz of a city, which is usually more noted for its corporate face.

There is no better way to see the famous Palm Jumeirah or the manmade archipelago created in the shape of a world map, known as The World, than from the air.

By far, the best times to visit Dubai are the months of November, December, January, February, March, and April when the weather is, in general, at its most pleasant. This is peak tourism season, though, so prepare for hotel prices to be at their highest.

Keen shoppers after discounts galore should head here during January when the entire month is devoted to the Dubai Shopping Festival. Be aware that January is Dubai's coldest month, though, with an average high of 23 degrees Celsius and temperatures dropping as low as 14 degrees.

For the best weather, particularly if you're going to hit the beach or head out into the desert during your trip, plan to travel here during the months of November or April when the average daytime temperatures sit between 25 and 26 degrees Celsius, and only peak as high as 31 degrees.

These two months usher in plenty of blue skies and sunshine for outdoor activities, but without the scorching heat of summer. Whichever month you choose, pack a warmer layer. You will need it to counter the ferocious air conditioning of Dubai's many indoor venues.

Dubai Online

Dubai Department of Tourism & Commerce Marketing

Dubai’s Department of Tourism & Commerce Marketing (DTCM) is the official tourism board and government body responsible for regulating, planning and licensing the city’s tourism and hospitality industry.

The DTCM is headquartered in Dubai but also maintains offices in many of the world’s biggest cities (London, New York, Tokyo, Beijing, Moscow, Frankfurt, etc.).

Visitor Information Bureaus

Visitors to Dubai wishing to obtain maps, brochures, public transport schedules, and general tourist advice can visit one of the DTCM’s Visitor Information Bureaus. They can be found at the airport and several shopping malls ( Deira City Centre , BurJuman , Ibn Battuta Mall , and Wafi City Mall ).

Official Dubai Tourism Websites

The DTCM maintains 2 websites:

Government of Dubai – Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing

The official site of the DTCM offers a wealth of information in addition to general tourist advice. It features an excellent interactive map, press releases, useful tourism statistics (hotels, visitors etc.), legislation and laws, videos, a weekly newsletter, an online complaints service, electronic brochures, and more.

Definitely Dubai

This website is the official tourism portal of the city of Dubai and is very consumer focused.

The site is split into three major sections, each targeting a different audience:

This section includes information about getting to Dubai, accommodation, things to do, things to see, and places to eat.

Everything a new or existing resident of Dubai needs to know about living in the city can be found here. Topics covered include residence visas, fixed and mobile telephones, internet access, nurseries and schools, ID cards, and sponsoring a maid.

Business Visitors

This part of the site contains information about setting up a business in Dubai, exhibition and conference venues, free zones, employment, and more.

Comments and Additional Information

I am delighted to visit Dubai, the spectacular city is the best example of urban planning has super luxury Hotels, Big shopping Malls, beautiful buildings, conference facilities, shopping, knightlife, delicious food and so on…. would like to visit again..

Hello. I have a Christ tattoo on my body and some other tattoos. Is that a problem in public beaches in Dubai or in hotel swimming pools????

Wife wife has a cross around her neck and we have lived in Dubai for over 15 years. This is an extremely tolerant Emirate. We love Dubai and its people

No, of course not, dubai is open for everyone from all regions, religions, races, backgrounds, and walks of life, so you are free to enjoy the beautiful beaches of dubai.

When in Rome behave like a Roman , so goes the old adage.

I’m from South Africa and every country has its own roots culture and religion, I lived in Dubai for months and it was one unforgettable experience I wouldn’t trade for anything, Abide by the rules you’ll love it. Can’t wait to get an a holiday apartment there

SO just because a "kissing" in public arrest has been made? stay away? Its called respecting religion, Dubai is an AMAZING place 🙂 No offence or not tryign to argue, but thats abit silly advice John 😛

Kissing is not a crime anywhere in the world. If they want visitors to feel welcomed they also have to respect other cultures and welcome them instead of trying to force theirs customs onto others.

After the recent arrest of the two British nationals for "kissing" in public. I urge everyone to stay out of Dubai.

Dubai is independent and sovereign state. Aliens and foreigners MUST comply and respect ALL UAE laws and regulations plus traditions. If they are not happy, they should stay out of Dubai.

Uae… where their “religion” is mandatory. Very narrow minded!

they were not “kissing” in public , they were fornicating in public , in all countries worldwide = you will go to jail for such behaviour

Summer is a good time to go to Dubai. The weather is very hot but flights and hotels are a lot cheaper.

Dubai Travel Guide

It’s hard to believe when confronting the sheer scale of Dubai, but most of the city was built in just the last 50 years. It makes the world’s biggest shopping mall, tallest skyscraper, and a host of ultra-luxurious hotels all the more bewildering. Still, amid all the glamor and superlatives, there are vestiges of a pre-skyscraper Dubai, in its winding souks and the vast empty desert that surrounds the city. Here’s how to navigate both sides of this always-growing metropolis.

Why Go To Dubai

Dubai and  Las Vegas  have a lot in common. Both cities share a love for the fantastical, with skylines that shine like beacons against barren desert backdrops. People from all over the world flock to these shimmering oases with the same goal: to play hard. But as a vacation spot, Dubai easily trumps ol' Sin City thanks to its gorgeous cream-colored Persian Gulf shoreline, international culinary scene and larger-than-life attractions . And the city's still growing; plans are underway for something bigger and better. At one point, it was estimated that a quarter of the world's construction cranes could be found here. If that's any sign, even the sky may not be able to limit Dubai's growth.

Dubai is a city of superlatives, home to the world's tallest tower, one of the world's largest shopping malls , and one of the world's largest man-made marinas… but on a smaller scale, this emirate is still tied to its days as a modest port town. Traditional wooden  abras  (boats) float past motorboats on Dubai Creek, the natural sands of  Jumeirah Public Beach  fringe the carefully sculpted Palm Islands, and the bustling  Gold and Spice Souks  (marketplaces) thrive amid the larger-than-life Dubai Mall. Despite constantly looking to the future, this city isn't quick to let go of its past. It's this dynamic that not only put Dubai on the tourist map but will also keep it there.

Dubai Travel Tips

Best months to visit.

The best time to visit Dubai is from November to March. Weather-wise, Dubai really only experiences two seasons: hot and hotter. During the winter months, the city sees blue skies and primo beach weather. However, this is also peak tourist season, so expect plenty of company on  Jumeirah Beach . You can escape the crowds if you visit during the summer months, but be prepared for triple-digit temps and high humidity levels

Weather in Dubai

Data sourced from the National Climatic Data Center

What You Need to Know

You'll feel safe here  Dubai is unaffected by the turmoil taking place in other parts of the Middle East. The city's population stems from countries across the globe, and everyone coexists peacefully.

What not to wear  Nearly 60 percent of Dubai's residents are practicing Muslims, which means that you'll find conservative attire to be the norm. Avoid wearing anything too revealing.

Too much sun can be a bad thing  Dubai's visitors often fall in love with the city's warm, sunny climate. However, it can get really hot, and there aren't a lot of shady places in the middle of the desert. Lather on sunscreen, drink plenty of water and wear a hat.

How to Save Money in Dubai

Plan in advance  A trip to Dubai will be expensive. But you'll have a better chance at snagging a lower room rate if you make your hotel reservations two to three months in advance.

Visit in the summer  Most travelers can't take the heat during this season, leaving little competition for desirable room rates.

Stay sober  Alcohol is rarely served outside of restaurants and bars, where prices are about as high as the  Burj Khalifa . You'll save big bucks if you skip the drinks.

Culture & Customs

Dubai stands as one of seven states (or "Emirates") that make up the United Arab Emirates; the other six are Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Fujairah, Ras al-Khaimah, Sharjah and Umm al Quwain. Each emirate is governed by a sheikh, or Arabic ruler. The sheikh of Abu Dhabi acts as president of the Federal Supreme Council (both the UAE's legislative and executive body), while the sheikh of Dubai fills the role of vice president. Although Abu Dhabi serves as the official capital of the UAE, Dubai has long been the emirates' commercial and financial hub.

But Dubai wasn't always the economic powerhouse it is today. Before oil was discovered in the mid-1960s, Dubai's economy relied solely on fishing and a moderately successful pearl industry. But once oil became a point of trade about 10 years after its discovery, the economy soared, and continues to do so. The current UAE vice president of and prime minister and Dubai Sheikh, Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, is strongly invested in the city's growth and status as a tourist hot spot.

The emirate's role as a commercial heavyweight attracts expats from around world. Dubai's population features citizens of 200 different nationalities, and each has left its own imprint on daily life. However, the dominant religion here is Islam, and Muslim culture greatly impacts Dubai's society. As a result, visitors are encouraged to dress modestly here – that means no exposed chests, thighs or midriffs – and alcohol is not commonly found outside of international hotels and restaurants. Those who visit during Ramadan (the Islamic month of fasting) are encouraged to refrain from eating or drinking in public places.

Despite its size, Dubai has earned a reputation as being one of the safest places in the Middle East. The UAE remains removed from the political and religious conflicts taking place in other parts of the Middle East. Women visiting Dubai should also feel safe to move about freely. However, women are often taken aback by Emiratis' tendency to stare; note that these gazes are most likely out of curiosity, not rudeness.

Although the official language is Arabic, Dubai's trade history and booming tourism market means that almost everyone speaks English. American travelers can also rejoice in the fact that most major credit cards are accepted at stores, hotels and restaurants. For those paying in cash, the official currency here is the Emirati dirham (AED), which is equal to roughly $0.27. Check what the current exchange rate is before you arrive and have cash on hand when visiting Dubai's traditional  souks   (markets).

What to Eat

Emirati food, the principal cuisine in Dubai, is all about one thing: spice. Put down the salt and pepper; in Dubai, all the flavor you'll ever need is already sprinkled into the dish from a wider variety of seasonings, few of which you may not be familiar (Is za'atar in your spice cabinet? What about cardamom?). There are so many interesting and exotic dishes to sample in Dubai, the best way to navigate its rich culinary landscape is by starting with the basics.

Al machboos is the Emirati's staple dish – think what red beans and rice are to New Orleans – and something you can't skip on your tasting tour of the Emirates. A favorite in the home and at restaurants, al machboos appears to be a simple dish – your choice of meat topped with rice – but packs a big punch flavor-wise, because it's seasoned with cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, dried lemon and yellow raisins. Thanks to Dubai's location along the coast, fish is plentiful and widely used as the choice of meat in hardy dishes. M'hammar will satisfy any seafood lover's craving for the taste of the Arabian Peninsula, prepared with locally caught fish and served with sweet yellow rice, caramelized onions and of course, a host of spices. Believe it or not, camel is widely available throughout Dubai, but is typically served on special occasions and often considered a food eaten among VIPs.

Other traditional fare to look out for are chebab, Emirati pancakes infused with saffron and cardamom and topped with yogurt and date syrup; khameer bread, which is stuffed with sweet or savory fillings, and kunafa, the Middle Eastern take on a cheese Danish. Arabic coffee is an experience in itself, especially for those who often take theirs with only cream and sugar. This coffee features regional lightly roasted beans mixed with saffron and cardamom. The ingredients are ground, boiled then strained and served in small cups. Don't forget to satisfy your sweet tooth here either. Emiratis love their desserts. The most traditional is luqaimat, which is batter deep fried in ghee and served with local date syrup (think doughnut holes with a Middle Eastern twist). Another classic dish is balaleet, which features sweet vermicelli noodles with raisins, saffron, cardamom and other spices. And if you're visiting during Ramadan, try Assidat al-Boubar, a pumpkin pudding made with rosewater that's widely served after the fast is broken.

A huge part of what has shaped Dubai's food landscape is the melting pot of cultures (more than 200 nationalities) that share the city. Aside from Emirati establishments, you'll find restaurants serving everything from classic French fare to dim sum. If you want flash, definitely go to one of the Burj Al Arab 's restaurants. There's also  La Petite Maison , a Michelin star-rated French import that sits near the Four Seasons. For beloved (and cheaper) casual eateries, head over to Al Samadi Sweets for Lebanese and Arabic dessert, or kick back and relax at  Seven Sands, the oceanfront restaurant at Jumeirah Beach Residence. For more information about where to eat, check out the Dubai tourism board's  website.

Getting Around Dubai

The best way to get around Dubai is by taxi or by metro. Although prices are high across the board in Dubai, a taxi here or there won't break the bank. Plus, they provide the freedom to move at your own pace without the hassle of navigating traffic. Dubai's metro system transports passengers to major areas of interest, including  Burj Khalifa  and the Dubai International Airport (DXB). The airport is about 10 miles from downtown Dubai. You can also rent a car at the airport, but be forewarned: driving here is not for the faint-hearted.

Entry & Exit Requirements

Americans visiting the United Arab Emirates must have an official U.S. passport that is valid for at least six months following your arrival date. Travelers must also possess a return ticket or other proof that they will be leaving the UAE within that 30-day timeframe. For visits exceeding 30 days, travelers must obtain a tourist visa prior to departure. Americans exiting the UAE by land transportation will be subject to departure fee of 35 dirhams (about $9.60), payable only in local currency. For more information, visit the U.S. State Department website .

Once a small fishing town, Dubai has developed significantly since it struck gold in the oil business. Today, the city is dotted with impressive skyscrapers but still features old towns throughout.

#1 – Burj Khalifa – Possibly one of the most important places to visit in Dubai

Burj Khalifa

  • Tallest building in the world
  • Incredible views
  • Splendid modern architecture
  • Iconic Dubai landmark

Why it’s awesome: The Burj Khalifa , open since 2010 and built in just five years, is the tallest building in the world. Standing at 828 metres (2,717 feet) tall, it’s certainly an imposing sight! The building is that tall that people on the highest floors can still see the sun several minutes after it has set for those at ground level!

Sleek metal and gleaming glass rise high into the sky, with fountains and a pretty tree- and bench-filled park at the bottom. It has several observation decks from where you can enjoy terrific views over Dubai, and there are places inside to eat, drink, and sleep.

Also across from the Burj Khalifa, you will find Dubai’s hottest attraction, Sky Views Dubai . This adrenaline-packed activity that opened in November 2021 at the Sky Views Hotel allows visitors to slide down a complete glass slide from the 53rd floor to the 52nd floor. If you’re not afraid of heights, this attraction is for you.

What to do there: Stroll through the park at the bottom of the tower and perch on a bench to enjoy the vibe and views. Snap plenty of pictures of the towering beauty before riding the high-speed elevators up to the viewing points. (It is advised to book tickets well in advance to avoid disappointment.) On Level 124 you can enjoy stunning views of the world at your feet, seeing even further afield thanks to the super-strength telescopes. One of the best places in Dubai.

Level 125 has a beautiful Arabian-style lounge with panoramic views. Dare to step out onto the interactive glass floor—it seems to splinter right beneath your feet, all while standing 456 metres (1,496 feet) above the ground.

You can also take a virtual tour to the very pinnacle of the tower and enjoy a virtual flight over the city. To really feel fancy, book one of the drinks packages, such as afternoon tea, a champagne sundowner, or nighttime cocktails.

Travel back to the middle of the 19 th century and uncover past times at the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding. Browse in the quaint art galleries and soak up the creative air and pause for a break and to watch the world go by in a cosy cafe.

One of my favorite things to do here is to visit an old Arabian tea house and enjoy a delicious lunch meal and some exquisite tea.

Appreciate the eco-friendly Art Park, with its striking displays made of empty bottles, old ceramics, CDs, and other recycled items. Marvel at the exquisite ice sculptures in the Ice Park and be dazzled by the beautiful lights of Glow Park. There are lanterns, landmarks, flowers, and animals, all made from lights. Grand Mosque

  • Large Islamic place of worship
  • Hear the call to prayer five times per day from the soaring minaret
  • One of the city’s most important religious buildings
  • Beautiful architecture

Why it’s awesome: Dubai’s Grand Mosque is at the heart of local religious and spiritual life, and it’s also a major place for Islamic culture and social events. The original mosque was built at the start of the 20 th century, though it has been rebuilt several times since with the present mosque dating back to 1998. The towering minaret is one of the tallest in the country. Resembling a lighthouse, it’s an impressive piece of architecture. There are many fine details around the main body of the mosque, including glorious domes, stained glass, and Quranic calligraphy. Of all the Dubai must see places this is the most classical beautiful.

What to do there: Be sure to dress modestly to visit Dubai’s Grand Mosque (or any other place of worship for that matter). Walk around the courtyard and admire the building from the outside and watch as the faithful come to pray. Non-Muslims aren’t permitted in the main mosque, but you can look at the beautiful minaret. Standing at 70 metres (230 feet) tall, the lighthouse-like tower is the tallest in Dubai and one of the tallest in the UAE. Soak up the spiritual air in the heart of the old city. Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve, Dubai

  • Off-the-beaten-track destination

  • Diverse wildlife
  • Sustainable tourism initiatives

Why it’s awesome: Situated just around a 30-minute drive from the hustle and bustle of downtown Dubai, Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve is a great place to discover the surrounding desert areas. It’s easy to forget that the modern and gleaming city of Dubai is almost entirely surrounded by arid desert. The first unfenced nature reserve in the country, it is home to an interesting array of flora and fauna. The man-made lakes are picturesque and the area also has fascinating archaeological sites too. Many locals come here to enjoy the natural beauty, though it sees relatively few international visitors. It makes a pleasant change to the high-tech aura, frenetic activity, and tall buildings of Dubai.

Look out for butterflies, birds, lizards, frogs, fish, and rodents, and see around 40 different species of plants. The Bani Yas tribal group first settled along the edges of the water. Entering Dubai as a Tourist: Comprehensive Guide

entering dubai as tourist

Dubai is a land of many variations; from majestic skyscrapers adorning the skyline to charming houses lining the old neighbourhoods, from the vast stretches of golden sands to the azure waters of the Persian Gulf, this city offers anything a visitor asks for. You will find luxurious shopping malls on one side and busy traditional markets on the other. Along with world-class restaurants, there are several humble street vendors selling lip-smacking food. As a globally recognized tourist hub, this gem of a city offers plenty of diverse choices. So, if you are embarking as a tourist in the city of gold, here is the perfect guide to hand-hold you through your entire stay.

Getting a Dubai Visa

First and foremost, most visitors entering Dubai need a valid tourist visa. However, residents and citizens of certain countries are eligible for visas on arrival and can even stay visa-free for a specific time. So, you need to check if you need a Dubai tourist visa from the country you are travelling from.

About Dubai Currency

The local currency in the United Arab Emirates is dirhams, denoted as AED. While most international debit and credit cards like Visa, Mastercard, Amex, etc. are widely accepted in the city, we always recommend carrying some cash for small purchases.

Important documents to carry

Carry all crucial documents such as passports, visas, travel insurance, flight ticket copies, itinerary copies, etc., without fail. While sightseeing, you can leave the originals in your hotel room locker and just carry photocopies, as Dubai is a safe city. But always have a few copies of all the original documents with you.

How’s the weather in Dubai?

Dubai weather

Dubai has a warm climate almost year-round. However, winters are quite pleasant, and the months between November and February are the best times to visit. It is also the peak tourist season, so all the prices for hotels, airfares, entry tickets to attractions, etc. are pretty expensive. Summer is from June to September, and this is the hottest time in the city, with average temperature soaring to about 50 degrees Celsius. October and March are the transition months and also a good time to visit, as before and after the peak season, everything is comparatively economical.

Where to stay?

Though Dubai is famous as an expensive and glamorous city, you will find accommodations suited to every budget. If you plan your holiday in advance, you will get multiple hotel options at varied tariffs and great deals as well. Other options that you can consider are Air BnBs or serviced apartments that are well-suited to the taste of individual customers and are very light on the pocket.

Getting around the city

Public transport like buses and metro is the most economical mode of transport, and they are well-connected with all famous attractions. You can hire a cab if you are willing to splurge a little more; though they are metered, they work out to be slightly more expensive than public transport. You can also book cabs through ride-sharing apps such as Careem and Uber, which are extremely convenient and reasonably priced.

What to eat?

It takes you on an enchanting gastronomic journey, offering myriad delicacies from all over the world. From wraps and shawarmas, pizzas to pastas, curries to soups, and burgers to sandwiches, you can find whatever your heart fancies.

Is the city safe, especially for women?

Dubai is an extremely safe city , as the laws are stringent they follow strict regulations. The crime rate is relatively low due to harsh punishments. In fact, women are respected a lot, so there is no need to worry about safety. However, you can make a list of emergency contact numbers and keep them with you.

How to dress in Dubai?

Dubai is a modern city, but it places a lot of importance on its values. It is always advisable to dress modestly, especially in public and religious places like mosques. It is extremely important to respect the local culture and tradition and avoid hurting anyone’s feelings. Refrain from wearing revealing, tight-fitting, short, and transparent clothes in public places.

Can I carry my medicines?

Several substances are banned or illegal in Dubai, so it is always better to get a prescription from your doctor before you travel and carry it with you at all times. If your medicines contain any prohibited substance, such as opiate or codeine, you will have to get your prescription changed. You can check online for the list of banned substances in Dubai.

Dubai Tourism: Top Art & Culture Districts in Dubai

D ubai is a unique and vibrant city home to many art districts, making it an excellent tourist destination. From bustling downtowns to historic neighborhoods, Dubai has something for everyone.

Additionally, the city is known for its low cost of living and lively nightlife, making it an attractive destination for those looking for an unforgettable experience.

Dubai, the glittering jewel of the United Arab Emirates, has long been known for its real estate marvels that manifest in futuristic skyscrapers, luxurious villas, and sprawling resorts, as well as some investment off-plan projects in Dubai are also going on.

However, whether you are traveling solo, with family, or on business, an often-underappreciated aspect of Dubai's real estate ecosystem is its dynamic art districts, which are gradually becoming pivotal in shaping real estate prices.

Places to Explore in Dubai

Influence of art districts.

Art districts are neighborhoods where art galleries, studios, museums, and design spaces cluster.

These cultural hubs have long been recognized for their role in fostering creativity, promoting local talent, and enriching the fabric of a city.

However, in recent years, the influence of art districts has begun to expand beyond culture and into the realm of real estate economics.

Downtown Dubai

The downtown area of Dubai is home to various art districts, including the Dubai Design District, Al Quoz, and Alserkal Avenue.

Dubai Design District is a creative community with art galleries, cafes, and restaurants. The area has many fashion stores and boutiques, making it an excellent destination for unique and stylish clothing.

Art District Effect on Real Estate

Art districts often bring about a profound transformation in their surrounding neighborhoods. Their establishment sparks an influx of tourists and artists, enhancing the local economy and fostering community engagement.

They attract businesses such as cafes, restaurants, and boutiques, increasing the neighborhood's appeal. This elevated interest eventually leads to rising real estate prices, a phenomenon observed in numerous cities globally and gradually manifesting in Dubai.

Take Alserkal Avenue, for instance. Since its transformation into an art hub, the surrounding areas have experienced a surge in property value.

Core, a leading UAE real estate advisory firm, reported that rental prices in Al Quoz increased by 5 to 10% following Alserkal Avenue's establishment.

Additional Art Districts

Al Quoz is a historic district in the heart of Dubai, home to art galleries and studios. The area is also known for its bustling markets and bazaars, where visitors can find traditional souvenirs and handmade goods.

Additionally, the area is home to restaurants, cafes, and bars, making it an excellent destination for those looking for a fantastic nightlife experience.

Alserkal Avenue is a spirited art district located in the heart of Dubai. The area is home to art galleries, studios, workshops, restaurants, cafes, and bars. Like Al Quos, there are markets and bazaars for shopping.

Top Attractions in Dubai

Dubai, the glittering epitome of modern architecture and luxury, attracts tourists from around the globe with its top-rated attractions.

A city where tradition meets modernity, where skyscrapers stand alongside traditional Arabic houses, Dubai offers diverse experiences that cater to every tourist's preference.

A journey to Dubai isn't complete without marveling at the engineering marvel of the Burj Khalifa.

Soaring over 2,723 feet (830 meters), the world's tallest structure provides heavenly panoramic views of the Dubai skyline from its viewing deck on the 124th floor.

Adjacent to Burj Khalifa, located in the heart of Dubai, is the Dubai Mall, one of the world's largest and most visited shopping centers.

Apart from hosting many stores, the mall also houses attractions such as the Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo, sure to leave kids and adults alike in awe.

Yet, tradition thrives even in a city known for its contemporary structures. This is evident in the Bastakiya Quarter, also known as Old Dubai.

The narrow lanes and ancient buildings transport you back to a simpler time, offering a sharp but intriguing contrast to the city's skyscrapers.

While not traditionally an attraction, the souks of Dubai are as enchanting as any. Whether searching for spices, perfumes, textiles, or gold, wandering through these bustling marketplaces is like stepping into a radiant mosaic of Arabic culture.

One can't mention Dubai without bringing up the exhilarating desert safaris, offering dune bashing, camel riding, sandboarding , and traditional barbecues under the open sky.

These trips blend adventure and culture, leaving every tourist with unforgettable memories.

Complementing the desert landscape is Dubai's coastline, embellished by the artificial Palm Jumeirah Island. Shaped like a palm tree, it hosts luxurious hotels like Atlantis and The Palm and is a marvel of modern engineering.

For art enthusiasts, the Alserkal Art District is an evolving cultural hub home to contemporary art galleries, non-profit organizations, and homegrown businesses.

The district offers enriching experiences that extend to design, media, and community-centric initiatives.

For thrill-seekers, there's no beating the adrenaline rush at Dubai's theme parks. IMG Worlds of Adventure, the largest indoor theme park globally, presents an exciting mix of rides, movies, dining, and shopping experiences.

And no one can resist the allure of Dubai Parks and Resorts, housing Motiongate Dubai, Bollywood Parks Dubai, and LEGOLAND Dubai.

This summer, LEGOLAND Dubai offers free theme park entry to every child accompanying a paid adult visitor at either the Theme Park or the Water Park!

The Legoland Dubai Resort is a fantastic family destination adjacent to the Legoland Water Park.

This extraordinary amusement park is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, at Dubai Parks and Resorts. It is the ideal location for families with children between two and twelve.

Lastly, Dubai forges an emotional connection with tourists at Dubai Creek, where one can take a traditional dhow cruise and soak in the city's skyline view.

This array of top-rated attractions underlies Dubai's transitional charm. It will captivate you with its ultramodern architecture and seduce you with its traditional Arabic charm at the turn of a corner.

The city's rapid transformation from a desert outpost into one of the world's most architecturally innovative cities is nothing short of miraculous.

It's no surprise that Dubai's fusion of modernity and tradition makes it one of the world's top tourist destinations.

Future of Art Districts and Real Estate in Dubai

Dubai's commitment to fostering its cultural landscape is evident in its continued investment in art and creative districts.

With the art scene in Dubai projected to flourish, the impact on surrounding real estate markets is anticipated to follow a similar growth trajectory.

In line with the UAE's Vision 2021, Dubai is set to establish itself as a global hub for arts and culture.

Ambitious initiatives like the Dubai Culture Plan 2025 aim to strengthen the cultural and creative sectors, contributing to the city's socioeconomic development.

Consequently, these plans are expected to catalyze the creation of new art districts, potentially leading to new real estate hotspots.

Moreover, with Expo 2020 Dubai rescheduled to 2023, the international spotlight on the emirate's art and culture scene has intensified.

The global event has given a platform to Dubai's vibrant art scene, further boosting its cultural footprint and indirectly influencing the real estate market.

As the art scene continues to gain momentum, we can expect a more significant effect on real estate prices around art districts.

Art districts have changed Dubai's urban fabric and added an extra layer of consideration for real estate investors and enthusiasts.

The once-overlooked industrial and financial areas are now bustling art districts, influencing the lifestyle and property values in their vicinity.

Art districts have undeniably added a new dimension to Dubai's real estate landscape. As places of cultural exchange and economic activity, they have proven to be a key driver in real estate valuation.

Understanding the impact of these cultural hubs can be invaluable for potential investors in making informed investment decisions. Get more information to guide your decision at https://emirates.estate .

Dubai is a great destination for tourists and property investors due to its unique art districts and vibrant nightlife. From bustling downtowns to historic districts, the city has something for everyone.

Additionally, the city is known for its low cost of living and lively nightlife, making it an attractive destination for those looking for an exceptional experience.

As Dubai continues to foster its art scene and build more art districts, we can expect the correlation between art districts and real estate prices to strengthen further.

In a city renowned for its extraordinary architectural feats, art districts and their influence on property prices add another fascinating layer to the tapestry of Dubai's dynamic real estate market.

Intense rainfall sweeps across Dubai and the wider United Arab Emirates, disrupting flights

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Intense rainfall swept across Dubai and the wider United Arab Emirates on Saturday, causing localized flooding and disrupting flights at the world’s busiest airport for international travel.

Nearly 50 millimeters (2 inches) of rain fell in Dubai over six hours — a heavy amount when the country as a whole averages under 120 millimeters (4.7 inches) of precipitation a year. Authorities sent crews out to collect downed tree limbs and open up drainage grates, though the rain quickly overwhelmed some areas.

Dubai police shut down portions of one major highway as traffic slowly crept through standing water on others. Rare lightning storms also lit up the afternoon sky.

At Dubai International Airport, the busiest for international travel, flights for both long-haul carrier Emirates and its low-cost sister airline, FlyDubai, were disrupted in the downpour.

Authorities had warned the public about the coming storm over a day in advance, with emergency personnel preparing for the rare rain.

Rain is unusual in this arid, Arabian Peninsula nation, but occurs periodically during the cooler winter months.

Air Arabia opens latest city center check-in facility in downtown Dubai

Air Arabia Airbus A320-214

Air Arabia, currently the largest low-cost carrier operating in the Middle East and North African regions, has opened a new city check-in facility in Dubai. According to the carrier, “the new service assures the convenience of travel before passengers get to the airport.”

The new facility is located in Al Shindagha in the Al Fahidi area of Dubai. The opening of this latest facility brings the total number of City Check-in facilities in the UAE available to Air Arabia customers to 12, spread across the whole country.

The new facility allows customers to drop off their bags with the airline and obtain their boarding passes up to 24 hours before their flights and up to eight hours before their scheduled departure time. The new location will also include a convenient bus transfer service which will connect the Shindagha City Centre City Check-in facility with Sharjah International Airport (SHJ) which is due to commence in the coming weeks.

The new facility operates daily from 10:00 to 22:00. Customers are also able to purchase additional baggage allowance, select preferred seats, or adjust their flight plans at the facility.

dubai tourist city

Air Arabia passengers flying from Sharjah International Airport can visit any of the City Check-in facilities located in Dubai, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, and Ajman, while passengers traveling with the carrier from Abu Dhabi Zayed International Airport (AUH) can use the airline’s City Check-in facility in Abu Dhabi.

According to a statement by the carrier, the provision of such facilities for its customers “is intended to streamline the pre-flight procedure, save time, and eliminate airport waits, allowing passengers to continue straight to their flight upon arrival at the airport.”

As part of its ongoing growth strategy and dedication to quality, the debut of the new City Check-In facility is “consistent with the airline’s commitment to providing affordable and value-added solutions that meet its customers’ evolving needs.”

While it is unusual for low-cost carriers to provide such added-value “frills” as downtown check-in facilities, Air Arabia has seen an opportunity to do so. While providing the service helps the carrier steal a march over its rivals in terms of customer service, the airline also certainly almost makes a cost saving by processing passengers off-airport, rather than paying a handling agent to provide such services within the busy airport terminal setting.

Air Arabia operates a fleet of 45 Airbus A320 family aircraft. These comprise 36 A320s, three A321s, and six A321NX(LR). The carrier also has 73 A320neos on order, alongside 27 A321NX plus 20 A321NY(LR) aircraft.

The carrier’s Abu-Dhabi-based subsidiary operates 10 A320s. The carrier also has sister airlines based in Egypt, Jordan, and Morocco.
