By Tony M. Centeno

March 7, 2023

Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa

Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa are rallying up some of their closest friends in the rap game for their "High School Reunion Tour." On Monday, March 6, the Death Row Records owner and the Taylor Gang leader took to social media to reveal the dates for their upcoming string of shows. The "High School Reunion Tour" will feature appearances from Too $hort , Warren G , Berner and special guest DJ Drama . Snoop, Wiz and the other seasoned MC's will kick off the tour this July in Vancouver, Canada before they invade 33 major cities across the U.S. from Salt Lake City to Atlanta.

The "High School Reunion Tour" will conclude at the end of August in Irvine, Calif. Before he embarks on his journey with Snoop and the crew, Wiz will hit the road in April for "The Good Trip Tour" with Joey Bada$$ , Berner , Smoke DZA and Chevy Woods . That tour will begin April 15 in Kalamazoo, Michigan and will hit five other cities before he wraps up at Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheater on April 22. Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa's collaborative tour comes not long after they released their brand new collaboration "Don't Text Don't Call." The song, which dropped via Taylor Gang Entertainment, is just one of numerous bangers they have together like their 2011 smash hit "Young, Wild & Free" and "Black & Yellow (Remix)." Tickets for the "High School Reunion Tour" are currently on sale for all Citi credit card owners while general sales begin on Friday, March 10. Produced by Dr. Dre following Snoop Dogg’s own guest contributions to the former’s 1992 classic  The Chronic, Doggystyle  debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and topped that chart for three weeks. The later RIAA-certified multiplatinum album initially sold 803,000 copies its premiere week which, at that time, was a first-week record for a debut rap album, according to Luminate. The record stood for nearly a decade until 50 Cent’s 2003 debut studio album,  Get Rich or Die Tryin’ , which logged 872,000 units sold in its first week.  Doggystyle  was released by Death Row Records, which Snoop Dogg now owns, and Interscope Records.

Tickets for Snoop Dogg & Friends go on sale Friday, May 5, at 10 a.m. PT. Visit the Hollywood Bowl’s website  for more information.

2022 was an especially packed year for future Songwriters Hall of Famer Snoop Dogg, who acquired his former label Death Row Records , appeared in the  2022 Super Bowl halftime show, and stayed busy with other ventures like a breakfast cereal initially called Snoop Loopz , his children’s television show Doggyland , and a role in Jamie Foxx’s vampire hunter movie  Day Shift .

As if that wasn’t enough, Snoop teamed up with BTS on Benny Blanco’s “Bad Decisions” and united with Too $hort, Ice Cube, and E-40 for a joint album as MOUNT WESTMORE. He also revealed plans for a Doggystyle sequel called Missionary and a biopic directed by Allen Hughes.

Meanwhile, Wiz Khalifa’s most recent album was 2022’s Multiverse . He also linked up with Girl Talk, Big K.R.I.T., and Smoke DZA for a collaborative album of their own called Full Court Press . Revisit our interview with Wiz here .

Calvin Broadus was born on October 20th 1971, and started rapping when he was eleven years old. Ten years after that he took the stage name Snoop Doggy Dogg to begin recording, and in doing so, changed the face of Hip-Hop forever.

There are more than a few artists around that it’s basically impossible to say anything new about. They have been so scrutinised, so celebrated and so criticised that most of what one can say about them has already been said before. This is very much the case with Snoop Dogg, one of the cast iron legends of Hip-Hop and one of the key influences that make it what it is today, both as a cultural phenomenon, and as (arguably) the dominant force of pop music in the world.

After his rapping caught the attention of Hip-Hop godhead Dr. Dre, the legendary producer gave the up and coming Snoop the exposure of a lifetime by featuring him heavily on his 1992 album “The Chronic”. The California, US native capitalised by releasing the following years “Doggystyle” and promptly became one of the world’s most successful, famous, controversial, and downright feared musicians overnight. Since then his image has softened slightly, he’s more likely to be seen in adverts for Hot Pockets than on trial for murder (as he was in 1996), but he’s diversified to a thrilling degree as a musician.

Not content with giving the world the best G-Funk it’s ever going to get with “Who Am I (What’s My Name)?” and “Gin and Juice”, he’s also given it some of its best straight up hip hop with the Pharrell Williams assisted “Drop It Like It’s Hot” and is still unafraid to tread his own path. His most recent reinvention, with a new name (Snoop Lion) and a new reggae sound on the album “Reincarnated”, sees him still going from strength to strength 22 years into his career. With a back catalogue like his, and a bright future to match, you can’t go wrong with the Doggfather himself, Snoop Dogg.

Live reviews

I was pretty worried that the concert might've been uncomfortable, as I'm a teen that went with their parents. Also, my mom isn't good at keeping her calm in situations surrounded by high intensity and tons of weed (which I guarantee will be at any Snoop concert). But it was the opposite of awkward. It was really fucking fun and people of all ages and backgrounds were there. We sat in the mezzanine, and even that far away from the stage it was high energy and a great vibe. HYPE Everyone was feeling the music and yes, there was shitloads of marijuana, even in a fancy theater venue like the Paramount in Seattle. But it's not overwhelming at all, even if you don't smoke. No one's aggressive or anything of the sort or passing judgement. Everybody's there to flip out over Snoop Dogg, dance, sing their hearts out, and have a good time. Snoop was so charismatic, captivating, and comfortable onstage. He never missed a beat or messed up his lyrics and put on a great show. I lost all inhibition dancing, and I'm usually self-conscious and anxious. Tons of fun. There were about five different groups opening, which lasted around three and a half hours (Puff Puff Pass Tour Part 2). Snoop was up there for about an hour and a half. He finished with Young, Wild & Free and spoke about all the hatred in the world in its current situation and how his tour was all about empathy, peace, and love and to stay strong. It was honestly beautiful. The show closed with Bob Marley's jamming. My clothes and hair still smelled like weed the day after. Definitely a must-see.

Thought the show was very entertaining! Snoop's got a great legacy and his story is definitely worthy of a play (and a movie as well, which we know will happen). Tamar Braxton was perfect as the Angel and WOW was really impressed with La Toya London's performance! Thought physically Lil JJ was too short to play Snoop but he very much acted the part and won me over. Oh and the visuals and sound effects were great too. Every time I heard gunshots I actually turned to make sure it wasn't real. LOL!!! So my only critique was it ran a little long, thought his story could have been told in less time. Other than that great job by everyone, cast, crew, the band.

Oh and forgot how much I despise the seating arrangement at Microsoft Theater. Rows are too long so if you're seated in middle seats you have to scoot by at least 10-14 people to get to your seat, annoying! Also people actually brought infants and small children. This is not a good place to bring children. Hire a babysitter! This along with the high ticket price, convenience charge, taxes and parking fees are probably why I will consider not going here again.

Okay, who doesn't love Snoop Dogg? Maybe my grandma, but otherwise, I can't think of anyone!

So, when I had the opportunity of a lifetime to see Snoop Dogg (and others) live I was more than thrilled. I was excited as I have ever been in my entire life. I felt like a kid on Christmas morning. Snoop Dogg is a legend in the rap world and he did nothing less than live up to that legacy during this show at Coachella.

He kept the audience involved in the show the entire time. There was not one dull moment, it was probably one of the best nights of my life. At one time, I swear he even looked right at me and pointed and winked at me. I almost died! I was so excited.

His music is well, Snoop Dogg's music and if you like it you love it. I enjoyed all the old school music that he played as well as some of the newer songs he has.

His performance was great. He had me smiling the entire time, I seriously couldn't believe I was seeing Snoop Dogg. Like, it was him, right there in front of me. I will never forget that night. One of the best ever!

Last night's snoop show was a blast !! We puffed puffed passed till we couldn't anymore cuz the show ended but The smooth dark chocolate rapper has done it again in Colorado showing us that his vital stamina and pure heart and soulkeeps him ahead of the pack !! Well since it was spoiled rasta Rosa's 4 th Snoopsy concert in 2016 I'll rate it #2 after the 420 concert with wiz @ Fiddlers Green in April I loved the old school feel with Bone Thigs and harmony it was like my cherry got poped again 18 years later took me right back to the Glorydays !!! Lol I love you Snoop I am your biggest Fan from Colorado. It's funny Snoop was talking about bucket lists last night and go sure smoking with the Dogg face to face blowing o's in each other's face is definitely on my bucket list ! Bring The wifey and Martha we will all get down ! Thank you Snoop for listening to yourself to be who you are you inspire the best of us !!!

Well, it was great to see him do so many hits, (and I actually really admired the athleticism of the 2 pole dancers on the stage). However, it really felt like he was phoning it in. The show was 1 long medley. I don't think he performed 1 song from beginning to end, and there was definitely a lack of energy on the stage. But, ya know what? My friend and I agreed; if anyone has earned the right to do that, it's him at this point in his career. Now, if I had paid $150 or $300 I would've been pissed and felt ripped off. But the for the $60 I paid, it was fine. We enjoyed the show, and I always enjoy going to the Concord in Chicago - it's a great venue: best acoustics anywhere, plenty of elbow room even for sold out shows, and plenty of bars with little or no waiting.

tdub100’s profile image

The overall show was 5.5 hours so it was good value from that perspective. Kudos to the long line-up. I've seen Snoop perform about 10 times. The good thing is that his overall stage presence was fairly long and he touched on many songs, albums and artists and he made a decent effort. The bad part is that he shortens all the songs by about half, to ensure he can cover more songs (which I think is fine), but also speeds the bpm of songs which makes them a bit disorienting to those that know the songs and lyrics. I didn't love the dancing girls personally but that is a matter of taste. Wow, since he stopped wearing Adidas, his wardrobe style ranking has sure dropped a quite a few levels! ; )

The concert all the way around was so LIT

I have been to many concerts and I would have to say by far the best concert I have ever witnessed in my life. I can’t even say who was better Bone Thugz, Warren G and Snoop where all amazing !!! I am so happy that I was able to witness this concert and the storm going down in the back round just made the concert that much better !!

danielle-marie-63’s profile image

It sucked. Cypress hill was dope... if they promoted that snoop dogg and wiz were collaborating and performing together I would have never gone. It was garbage snoop should just stick to himself on stage and play his style of music. Don't waste your money on going. Unless u like that new style of "hip hop" than its perfect but if not than definitely don't waste your money

LIVE AT MAVERIK CENTER ON DECEMBER 13, 2022

Tickets go On-Sale Friday, November 4, 2022.

Snoop Dogg, the seven-time Platinum selling Artist, Movie Star, and Cultural Icon announces his upcoming Holidaze of Blaze tour featuring an incredible night of hits from a star-studded lineup! Joining Snoop on this Tour are other transformational artists like T-Pain, Warren G, Ying Yang Twins, and rising star Justin Champagne. After performing at one of the most epic half time shows in history, Snoop went on tour earlier in 2022 selling out Arenas across the Country. He is now back out to bring a very special holiday show where he will be touring with a full band for the first time in years! This is truly a one-of-a-kind show that you do not want to miss!

T-Pain proved to the World that he, in fact, does not need auto-tune when he shocked fans with his incredible voice as he won The Masked Singer in 2019. In 2007, T-Pain released his second album,  Epiphany , which reached number one on the US  Billboard  200 chart. His third album,  Three Ringz , was released in 2008. The albums included a string of hit singles, including "I'm Sprung", "I'm 'n Luv (Wit a Stripper)", "Buy U a Drank (Shawty Snappin')", "Bartender", "Can't Believe It", and "5 O'Clock". T-Pain has earned two Grammy Awards from 12 nominations, one with Kanye West for "Good Life" and the other with Jamie Foxx for "Blame It". From 2006 to 2010, T-Pain was featured on more than 50 chart topping singles. His most successful feature to date was on Flo Rida's debut single "Low", which has since been certified diamond (10× platinum) by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

This epic lineup will also feature the living legend and original regulator, Warren G who joined Snoop on tour earlier this year. If that weren’t enough, Ying Yang Twins will complete a set packed with countless chart-topping hits that are sure to keep the audience up and jumping all while setting the stage for this incredible party. And of course, kicking everything off is the rising star out of Lafayette, LA, Justin Champagne, who recently released the popular If She Ain’t Country with Snoop Dogg. Fans are encouraged to get their tickets early as these shows are sure to sell out quick!

About Snoop Dogg

Get to know Cincinnati Music Festival's 2023 lineup, from Snoop to Jill Scott

snoop dogg tour lineup

At least 14 different acts are set to take the stage at the Cincinnati Music Festival July 20-22. We've compiled a little fact sheet for (almost) everything you need to know about everyone performing this year.

Let's jump right in.

Snoop Dogg (Saturday)

Who's that? One of the most iconic rappers of all time, Snoop Dogg, 51, is best known for his work with legendary hip-hop producer Dr. Dre, smoking copious amounts of marijuana with Wiz Khalifa and being best buds with Martha Stewart. Snoop headlined this past year's Super Bowl halftime show where, in his signature style, he was spotted smoking a little somethin' somethin' before taking the biggest stage in the world.

Hit songs : "Young, Wild & Free" with Wiz Khalifa ft. Bruno Mars (2011), "Drop It Like It's Hot" ft. Pharrell (2004), "Gin and Juice" (1993).

Latest release : "Please Take a Step Back (ft. Gary Vee)" (2023) – yes, the song features a sample from entrepreneur/internet personality Gary Vaynerchuk, aka Gary Vee.

Performance : Saturday, July 22, Paycor Stadium.

Al Green (Friday)

Who's that? At 77, legendary R&B/soul singer Al Green holds claim to one of the most beautiful voices in the history of music. Rising to fame in the early '70s with hits like "I'm So Tired of Being Alone" (1971) and "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart" (1972), Green more or less retired from R&B music in 1974 after a tragic incident and became a pastor, exclusively producing gospel records. Green's early R&B records, however, have more than stood the test of time and rightfully earned him the headline spot in Friday's festivities.

Hit songs : "I'm So Tired of Being Alone" (1971), "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart" (1972), "Let's Stay Together" (1972), "Take Me to the River" (1974).

Latest release : "Al Green: Soul Legend" (2022).

Performance : Friday, July 21, Paycor Stadium.

Jill Scott (Friday)

Who's that? Rising to fame at the turn of the millennia with her debut album "Who is Jill Scott? Words and Sounds, Vol. 1" (2000), the beloved Jill Scott effortlessly glides between smooth, jazzy R&B jams and powerful, empowering anthems. Scott has also taken her talents to Hollywood, acting in a host of TV series and movies, including Tyler Perry's "Why Did I Get Married?" (2007) and the James Brown biopic, "Get on Up" (2014). She made the news most recently for performing an adapted version of the national anthem that highlighted the country's history of racism.

Hit songs : "Golden" (2004), "Daydreamin' (Lupe Fiasco ft. Jill Scott)" (2006), "A Long Walk" (2000), "Cross My Mind" (2004).

Latest release : "By Popular Demand" (2018).

Rakim (Thursday)

Who's that? Best known for his collaborations with DJ/producer Eric B. in the late '80s, Rakim is widely considered hip-hop's premier emcee with the smoothest flow in its 50-year history. He is often credited with introducing multi-syllable and internal rhyming to hip-hop. It doesn't hurt that Rakim rapped over Eric B.'s impressively mixed beats, including numerous samples of James Brown, who will be inducted to the new Cincinnati Black Music Walk of Fame on July 22 outside the Andrew J. Brady Music Center. Eric B. and Rakim were recently named the seventh best rap group of all time by Billboard, citing Rakim's "Shakespearean aptitude for quotable and adaptable rhymes."

Hit songs : "Don't Sweat the Technique" (1992), "Paid in Full" (1987), "Know the Ledge" (1992), "Eric B. Is President" (1987).

Latest release : "Black Messiah" (2021).

Performance : Thursday, July 20, Andrew J. Brady Music Center.

Babyface (Saturday)

Who's that? Having written and produced music for artists as wide-ranging as Madonna, Boyz II Men, Eric Clapton, Ye and Whitney Houston, Babyface is just as famous for producing his own chart-topping R&B records. He got his start with The Deele, which is set to be inducted into the Cincinnati Black Music Walk of Fame on July 22, as well. An absolute icon of the industry, Babyface's recent Tiny Desk Concert , released last month, showcased both Babyface's lasting performance abilities and how he lives up to his name, even at 64. His latest release, "As a Matter of Fact" (2023), recently reached No. 1 on Billboard's R&B charts.

Hit songs : "Whip Appeal" (1989), "Every Time I Close My Eyes (ft. Kenny G)" (1996), "When Can I See You" (1993), "Soon as I Get Home" (1989).

Latest release : "As a Matter of Fact" (2023).

Slick Rick (Thursday)

Who's that? One-eyed, British-accented and philosophical rap legend Slick Rick has had a complicated relationship with the U.S. government. Born in London to Jamaican parents, Slick Rick's family moved to The Bronx in the '70s when he was 11. Despite producing multiple hit albums in the '80s and '90s with names as famous as Nas, Outkast and Snoop Dogg, the INS seized Rick in 2002 during a live performance in Florida and deported him back to England. Luckily, Slick Rick is back in the States after finally being granted citizenship in 2016 , giving Cincinnati a chance to witness the legend in action.

Hit songs : "Children's Story" (1988), "Street Talkin' (ft. Outkast)" (1999), "Behind Bars" (1994), "Mona Lisa" (1988).

Latest release : "Metropolis" with DJ Muggs and Method Man (2022).

P-Funk Connection (Saturday)

Who's that? P-Funk Connection is kind of like the Dead & Co. of funk. Cult-inspiring and consistently psychedelic, P-Funk has been touring and producing funk classics, always with new nomenclature and personnel, for more than 30 years. Much like The Dead, P-Funk Connection performs without its primary personality and raison d'etre, funk-legend George Clinton. Even without their shining star, P-Funk refuses to "give up the funk."

(P-Funk Connection was previously Parliament and Funkadelic and Parliament-Funkadelic and P-Funk All-Stars and more. For the purposes of this article, I take their current form to represent all such iterations of the group.)

Hit songs : "Give Up the Funk (Tear the Roof Off the Sucker)" (1975), "Can You Get to That" (1971), "Flashlight" (1977), "Knee Deep" (1979).

Latest release : "Straight from #1 Bimini Road" (2020).

Avery Sunshine (Friday)

Who's that? True to her name, Avery Sunshine's voice oozes with bright flavor and rays of positivity. Best known for her hit single, "Call My Name" (2014), which reached No. 1 on Billboard's Adult R&B charts, Sunshine, 48, is a soulful singer and a self-proclaimed therapist. She famously won the adoration of the late great Aretha Franklin.

Hit songs : "I Got Sunshine" (2010), "Call My Name" (2014), "Blessin' Me" (2010).

Latest release : "Blackity Black" (2023).

Doug E. Fresh (Thursday)

Who's that? The "Original Human Beatbox," Doug E. Fresh, is a man of many talents. He's a rapper, an entertainer and probably the best beatboxer of all time. Throughout the '90s, he performed alongside Prince. His dancing chops inspired Cali Swag District's infamous "Teach Me How to Dougie" (2009), named after the man himself. His charisma is the stuff of legend. "La-Di-Da-Di" (1986), rapped by Slick Rick, has become one of the most sampled songs in music history , including being adapted as the hook to Biggie's "Hypnotize" (1997).

Hit songs : "Freaks" (1995), "The Show" (1986), "La-Di-Da-Di" (1986).

Latest release : "10X" with Stacey Francis and WD-HAN (2023).

Jodeci (Friday)

Who's that? Contrary to their title, "The Bad Boys of R&B" are best known for their swooning, harmonic slow jams. They were called "bad boys" for the promiscuous lyrics behind those harmonies, which landed three of their albums in the No. 1 spot on the Billboard R&B charts. That was all in the '90s. After a long hiatus, the group is back and ready for Cincinnati to kick off their upcoming tour.

Hit songs : "Forever My Lady" (1991), "Freak'n You" (1995), "Come & Talk to Me" (1991).

Latest release : "The Past, The Present, The Future" (2015).

Big Daddy Kane (Thursday)

Who's that? One of hip-hop's earliest and most successful sex symbols, Big Daddy Kane is much more than just a pretty face. Kane was instrumental in the success of the New York rap scene. In the mid-'80s, Kane teamed up with Biz Markie and helped him write many of his biggest hits. In the early '90s, Kane gave Jay-Z a stage, letting Beyonce's future husband freestyle as he changed outfits during performances and featuring him on "Show and Prove" (1994). Even though Kane essentially stopped making music in 1988 with the album "Veteranz Day," he has continued to be an active performer, not missing a year on stage since 2004.

Hit songs : "Ain't No Half-Steppin'" (1988), "Smooth Operator" (1989).

Latest release : "Vibe" by Arrested Development ft. Big Daddy Kane (2021).

Midnight Star (Friday)

Who's that? It doesn't get much more '80s than Midnight Star. Their records are consistently disco-dancy, with bright synths, two-step beats and catchy, lovey-dovey hooks. With multiple No. 1 hits in the mid-'80s, these Kentucky natives are masters at making people dance. One could easily see their first big hit, "No Parking (On the Dance Floor)" (1983), becoming the next viral challenge: listen to this whole song without dancing!

In July of 2022, Midnight Star was inducted into the Cincinnati Black Music Walk of Fame.

Hit songs : "Standing Together" (1981), "Midas Touch" (1986), "No Parking (On the Dance Floor)" (1983).

Latest release : "Black Lights" (2013).

Gerald Albright (Friday)

Who's that? Jazz musician Gerald Albright is a saxophone virtuoso, his melodies hook you instantly, his solos wondrous. With consistently groovy album after album, there's no wonder Gerald Albright has been one of R&B's most sought-after instrumentalists of the last 30 years.

Hit songs : "Because of You" (2014), "So Amazing" (1987), Champagne Life" (2012).

Latest release : "Summer Love" (Johnny Britt ft. Gerald Albright and Kashan) (2023).

Norman Brown (Saturday)

Who's that? Virtuoso guitarist Norman Brown is one of the best at what he does. With numerous hit instrumental albums, Brown seems to glide effortlessly across the neck of the guitar, producing fantastic, unrepeatable solos for over 20 years.

Hit songs : "That's The Way Love Goes" (1994), "Just Between Us" (1992), "West Coast Coolin'" (2004).

Latest release : "Let's Get Away" (2022).

Snoop Dogg announces huge list of supports for his 2023 Australian tour

A 2021 press shot of Snoop Dogg

  • X (formerly Twitter)

Snoop Dogg has locked in supports for his 2023 Australian tour, with a host of guests locked in to make these shows extra special.

Detroit is heavbily represented, with  Obie Trice serving as main support, and Eminem's old collective  D12 , which usually features members Bizarre, Kuniva and Swifty, also returning to Australia with Snoop.

Tha Dogg Pound , the Death Row Records group made up of Kurupt and Daz Dillinger, will join their old mate Snoop on these shows. So will controversial Irish superstars Versatile , who'll get things started on their first Australian tour.

Read on for all the info on dates and venues.

When Californian hip hop icon Snoop Dogg pulled out of his 2022 Australian tour a few months back, promoters swore that he still full intended on making it back to Australia as soon as possible.

They weren't kidding, and today announce new dates for early 2023.

It's extra good news for some, with Snoop also locking in a date for Adelaide and second shows in Sydney and Melbourne to meet demand.

These will be Snoop's first Australian shows since 2014 when he played the Big Day Out, so his multi-generational fanbase will be very eager to finally have him back in the country.

Not only has he made some of the greatest hip hop songs in history, he's been a key cultural figure of the past 30 years.

He was a key part of one of 2022 most incredible music moments , he hosted a pretty weird cooking show , and, yes, he performed the jingle for a food delivery service that is probably your child's only knowledge of him (and that's probably a good thing).

While it has been some time since he appeared in Australia, we can say that past visits have been very good. Snoop has always rolled out classic hits sets full of good humour and great vibes. Most importantly, his work on the mic has almost always been completely on point.

Catch Snoop Dogg playing the following shows. Tickets are on sale now and Previously purchased tickets will automatically be transferred to allow access to new tour dates.

Fredro Starr regrets not suing Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre: The million-dollar missed opportunity

I n an exclusive interview with  The Art of Dialogue , hip-hop veteran  Fredro Starr dropped a bombshell that has the music industry buzzing. The  Onyx  rapper revealed that he should have taken legal action against none other than  Snoop Dogg  and  Dr. Dre , two iconic figures who inadvertently cost him a jaw-dropping  $1 million deal .

The chronic tour debacle

Back in 1993, the hip-hop world was ablaze with excitement as  Dr. Dre  embarked on his groundbreaking  Chronic Tour . The lineup was a who’s who of rap royalty:  Snoop Dogg ,  Run-DMC , and the late  Bo$$  joined forces with  Onyx  to create an unforgettable experience for fans. But little did anyone know that this tour would take an unexpected turn.

The  Chronic Tour  promised riches beyond imagination.  Onyx  was poised to rake in mad cash, leaving no room for regrets. However, fate had other plans. Just a handful of dates into the tour, disaster struck. A driver was kidnapped—allegedly by members of  Tha Doggfather’s entourage—and chaos ensued. The tour was abruptly canceled, leaving everyone stunned.

The lost millions

Fredro Starr, already frustrated at having turned down a role in the Michelle Pfeiffer movie  Dangerous Minds  to be part of the tour, found himself in a precarious situation.

Tour was over. Canceled. We had a whole tour. We were supposed to make mad money, n-gga, he recounted. I stopped doing Dangerous Minds, all that sh*t. Dangerous Minds blew up. If the tour went well, I wouldn’t be upset about that sh*t, but the tour didn’t go well.

But the financial blow didn’t end there.  Onyx  had just inked a lucrative merch deal worth a staggering  $1 million . The merchandise was ready to fly off the shelves, but fate had other plans. The canceled tour meant they couldn’t sell the merch. Worse yet, they were slapped with a lawsuit by their partners.

Somebody had to pay, and it was us, Fredro lamented.

Missed opportunities and legal regrets

The question that haunts Fredro Starr to this day is: Why didn’t they sue? Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg, as key players in the tour, were arguably liable for its cancellation.

We should have sued Dr. Dre and Snoop and them n*gg*s, Fredro asserted. They were responsible for the tour falling apart. Somebody had to be held accountable.

The brief but turbulent  Chronic Tour  of 1993 remains etched in hip-hop history. Suge Knight, the former Death Row boss, even claimed that he facilitated Dre and Snoop’s acquisition of firearms during the tour. The drama unfolded, leaving Fredro Starr with regrets and a missed fortune.

As we reflect on this forgotten chapter of hip-hop lore, one thing is clear: missed opportunities can haunt even the most seasoned artists. Fredro Starr’s cautionary tale serves as a reminder to protect your bag, even when the stars align. And perhaps, just perhaps, a lawsuit could have changed the course of hip-hop history.
