Disney Fantasy Dining

restaurants on disney fantasy cruise ship

Like all other Disney ships, Fantasy uses a rotational dining system, with cruisers moving from one eatery to the next each night, their regular servers in tow. One thing: While you move from one restaurant to another each night, there are still prescribed times to dine, a bother if you'd prefer to chow down on your own terms.

There are three (free) main themed-dining restaurants -- Animator's Palate, Enchanted Garden and the Royal Court -- as well as a variety of complimentary grab-and-go options and two for-fee specialty dining eateries.

Overall, the quality of the food is good, as is the service, but options can be limiting if you're scheduled to dine in a restaurant such as the Royal Court and you're not a huge fan of, say, French cuisine. Servers are diligent in asking if there are any allergies. Each menu features vegetarian and always-available "lighter fare" sections, and special dietary needs can be accommodated, though it's best to give the line advance notice.

The children's menus throughout the ship are predictable, featuring items like burgers, pizza and chicken fingers, but they work and feature special flourishes -- like ketchup doled out in the shape of Mickey's head.

Soda and juice are included free of charge at meals and on the pool deck. (Beverages from any onboard bar will incur a fee.)

Note: On the morning of disembarkation, breakfast is served in all three main dining restaurants. Passengers are assigned to whichever restaurant hosted their dinner the night before.

Free Dining

Animator's Palate (Deck 3 aft): Animator's Palate on Disney cruises is a dinner-only venue that is a colorful pastiche of giant paintbrushes, cartoon art and big-screen TVs that feature "Undersea Magic," which stars an animated Crush the Turtle from "Finding Nemo." He interacts in real time with diners, which can be both thrilling and a little off-putting if he starts chatting you up when you have food in your mouth.

The surf-and-turf at Animator's Palate is a standout. Other entrees include beef tenderloin and lemon-thyme chicken breast, with appetizers of salmon tartare and black truffle ravioli and soups like butternut squash and baked potato and cheddar. Vegetarian options might include black bean chipotle cakes and sesame halloumi. For dessert, expect creme brulee, cheesecake and ice cream, among other options.

Enchanted Garden (Deck 2 mid): The French countryside-inspired Enchanted Garden , open for dinner and sometimes lunch, transforms from day into night at dinnertime, complete with starry sky.

For lunch, the restaurant serves beef empanada appetizers; pastas, sandwiches and salads as mains; and cheesecake and ice cream for dessert.

Enchanted Garden features a seasonal menu in the evening. Think prime rib, sea bass and wild boar, with desserts like creme brulee.

Royal Court (Deck 3 mid): Disney's Royal Court dining experience -- a richly appointed palatial affair with a huge chandelier, plush furniture and myriad princess references, including waiters dressed as princes -- is open daily for breakfast and dinner.

At breakfast, cruisers can expect fruit, yogurt, cereal, pancakes, waffles, grilled veggies, bagels with lox, a selection of pastries and a variety of egg dishes -- omelets, fried eggs and not-as-appetizing premade scrambled eggs, all with the option of hash browns, bacon and sausage.

At dinner, the Royal Court menu has a French accent, so plan on such offerings as duck confit, escargot, French onion soup, roasted rack of lamb, crispy duck breast, Grand Marnier souffle and a wine list that harks back to the Continent.

Cabanas (Deck 11 aft): Other dining spots include Cabanas, also on Deck 11, a mammoth buffet with a beach theme. Seating is indoors or out, and there's ample space to tuck into the decent variety of chow, including fresh-carved meat, pasta, a salad bar and the like. Passengers can go there for breakfast (pastries, eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, waffles and pancakes, fruit, cereal, yogurt), lunch (soup, salads, sandwiches, carving station, hot entrees) or dinner (a sit-down affair with four appetizers, six entrees and two desserts that mimic what's offered in the dining rooms). Note: Dinner is not served at Cabanas on the first and last nights of a cruise, which we found exceptionally annoying, given the rigid structure of dining in the main restaurants.

Flo's Cafe (Deck 11 mid): Flo's Cafe is an amalgamation of three different walk-up food service windows, located on Deck 11 in the pool area. Luigi's Pizza offers plain, pepperoni and barbecue chicken pies, as well as a vegetarian option and a rotating daily special. (Gluten-free pizza is available, but it's best to give advance notice.) The Tow Mater Grill specializes in burgers, grilled chicken, hot dogs, sausages and chicken fingers. French fries and a condiments bar round out the meals. Fillmore's Favorites features made-to-order sandwiches, paninis, wraps and salads.

Cove Cafe (Deck 11 forward): This tiny bar and cafe in The Cove adults-only area serves free light bites and for-fee coffee beverages.

Vista Cafe (Deck 4 mid): The Vista Cafe shares space with Shutters Photo Gallery and serves up complimentary snacks like pastries and cookies, as well as coffee beverages for a fee.

Eye Scream (Deck 11 mid): Eye Scream is where passengers will find free self-serve soft ice cream in chocolate, vanilla and twist. Cups and cones are available. Sadly, the machines aren't open 24 hours, but you can enjoy it from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Room Service: Room service is free and includes a reasonably sized menu of soup, sandwiches, pizza, salads, fruit, cake, pie, cookies and "American Fare" like hamburgers, mac 'n' cheese, hot dogs and chicken fingers. For-fee snack and beverage options are also available. A tip of a dollar or two is customary to whoever delivers your order.

Remy (Deck 12 aft; $95 per person, $200 with wine pairing; $60 per person for brunch, $90 for Champagne brunch): Remy on Disney , the French blockbuster introduced on Disney Dream, is named for the main rodent character in Disney's "Ratatouille." At $95 a pop, Remy remains the most expensive restaurant at sea, and if you add in the $105-a-head fee for the wine-pairing option, you could be talking about one of the most expensive meals you've had on land as well. Is it worth it? We were wowed by the exquisite service, languorous pace of the meal (more than three hours) and, of course, the food -- seven courses of ultra-rich Gallic grub that we're still dreaming about.

For dinner, menu items might include salmon, gnocchi, wagyu beef, king crab and lamb with a selection of chocolates for dessert. For brunch, expect to find ham, cucumber and dill salmon, and tortellini among the options.

Passengers are invited to meet with the sommelier before dinner to plan the wines for the evening (nice touch), and we were surprised to find a box of Remy chocolates on our bed when we returned from our gastronomical expedition.

Palo (Deck 12 aft; $30 per person for dinner, $59 with wine pairing; $30 per person for sea day Champagne brunch): Disney stalwart Palo, an Italian holdover from the line's other ships, offers alfresco dining, as well as seating in a warm Italianate space showcasing floor-to-ceiling windows with amazing views. This Northern Italian eatery serves dinner nightly, as well as a Champagne brunch on sea days. Carb-cravers may refuse to share the awesome breadbasket, but don't fill up on those empty calories: Our lobster ravioli rocked, though we also coveted our tablemate's osso bucco. Other menu items include a charcuterie plate, mozzarella caprese salad, potato gnocchi, deep-fried shrimp and calamari, a selection of pastas like mushroom risotto, sea scallops, tuna steak, beef tenderloin and roasted lemon-rosemary chicken, among others. Brunch includes a cold buffet (meats and cheese, shrimp, salads, desserts) and a selection of hot made-to-order items (omelets, fish).

Sweet on You (Deck 11 aft; a la carte): Added to the ship during a 2017 dry dock in place of the ship's former arcade, Sweet on You is a vintage cartoon-themed sweets shop that sells extra-fee prepackaged sweets, loose candy by the pound, macarons, chocolate-covered Oreos, cupcakes, bonbons and other treats. Or choose from 16 ice cream flavors and 20 varieties of egg-free gelato ranging from standards like vanilla and chocolate to more creative ones including Cap'n Crunch, caramel popcorn and candy explosion (with Nerds). They can be combined into a number of sundaes, as well as a "milkshake of the day." Prices are reasonable; we scored a chocolate-dipped rice cereal treat, a chocolate-covered Oreo cookie and two scoops of gelato in a waffle cone for about $12.

Frozone Treats (Deck 11 mid; $3.95 for a small, $5.25 for a large): Just next to Eye Scream's free soft-serve, you'll find Frozone, which doles out smoothies for a fee. Available combinations blend yogurt with ingredients like blueberries, raspberries and blackberries; peaches and blueberries; and pineapple, mango, lychee, ginger and lemongrass. Bottled beer is also available there.

Casual Dining Restaurants on Disney Fantasy

Just like on all Disney Cruises, included in the price of your cruise, voyages have the option to eat as much as they want at several locations on the Disney Fantasy for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  Here are the locations you can dine at aboard the Disney Fantasy.

Just like on the Disney Dream, the Disney Fantasy also has Cabanas – a buffet-style restaurant. For breakfast, Guests can indulge in a wide variety of offerings such as Mickey Waffles, scrambled eggs, chocolate chip pancakes, yogurt parfaits, hashbrowns, breakfast potatoes, oatmeal, fruit, and more.  Juices, such as apple juice and orange juice, as well as coffee, tea, and other soft drinks, are also included for no extra cost.

If you are ready for lunch, head back to Cabanas and enjoy a wide variety of savory items such as pizza, chicken tenders, french fries, mac and cheese, vegetables, seafood (including peel and eat shrimp and crab), garden salads, and more. Soft drinks such as soda and juice are included with the price of your cruise.

In addition to the buffet, the Disney Fantasy also offers quick-service style locations. Flo’s Cafe is a section on the ship consisting of three different food stations – Luigi’s Pizza, which offers different pizza options, Tow Mater’s Grill, which offers burgers and french fries, and Fillmore’s Favorites, which offers sandwiches and fruit. All three locations are included with the price of your cruise.

If you are ready to satisfy that sweet tooth, be sure to check out Eye Scream – a Monsters, Inc. -themed ice cream shop on board.  Guests are able to create their own soft-serve ice cream cone or cup, but the best part is it is unlimited! That’s right; voyagers can have as much as they’d like throughout the duration of their cruise.

Frozone Treats

Although Frozone Treats is not included with the price of the cruise, Guests wishing for something a bit more nutritious can order frozen-fruit smoothies from Frozone Treats, the “Incredibles” inspired treat location on board.

Vanellope’s Sweets & Treats

Also for an additional fee, Guests can check out Vanellope’s Sweets & Treats and order specialty items such as gelato, waffle cones, baked treats, and candy.

Bars & Lounges on the Disney Fantasy

If you are looking for adult beverage, or even a mid-day snack, be sure to check out one of the several bars and lounges offered on the Disney Fantasy.  When sitting at one of the following bars or lounges, the bartender will set down a small plate of light snacks – such as pretzels or Chex Mix – for no additional cost.

Whether you are looking for your morning coffee or an afternoon pick-me-up, this adults-only lounge is the place to be. Cove Cafe offers specialty drinks and coffee and tea options such as lattes and cappuccinos.

This outdoor bar is located inside the adults-only section of the Disney Dream and offers a wide variety of drinks such as frozen margaritas, glasses of wine, mixed cocktails, and more.

This sky-bar is known for its martinis, but Guests can order other mixed drinks as well. Sip on your adult beverage while taking in views of global cityscapes – which change every few minutes!

This family nightclub offers fun for all ages. Entertainment options include karaoke, trivia game shows, and line dancing.

This adults-only very merry-go-round Carosello bar offers an exquisite fee thanks to the beautiful lighting throughout. During the evening, you can enjoy live music as you sip on your glass of wine or champagne.

Inspired by London’s subway, visitors will be transported to the swinging 1970s-era London. During the day, this lounge hosts trivia and arts and crafts, but at night, watch The Tube transform into an adults-only nightclub.

O’Gills Pub

Disney Fantasy’s signature pub brings the luck of the Irish to you! Watch all your favorite sports teams on TV at this Irish pub as you share a pint of your favorite beer or snack on some small plates, such as chicken wings or coconut shrimp.

Ooh La La is Disney Fantasy’s champagne bar. Decorated in pinks and whites, this piano champagne bar is the perfect relaxation spot for when you need to unwind with a glass of bubbles.

This sophisticated lounge is located in between the adults-only restaurants on board – Remy and Palo. Because Meridian is at the back of the ship, Guests can sip on an Old Fashion while taking in spectacular ocean views.

Located in the grand Atrium of the Disney Dream, Bon Voyage will be your go-to for cocktails, coffee, juices, and more.

Main Dining: Sit-Down Restaurants on the Disney Fantasy (Rotational Dining)

When sailing on the Disney Fantasy there are three main dining restaurants included in the price of your Disney Cruise – Animator’s Palate, Enchanted Garden, and Royal Court – all of which you will enjoy thanks to Disney’s rotational dining system.

Animator’s Palate

Disney animation comes to life at Animator’s Palate. This sit-down restaurant aboard the Disney Fantasy offers two different dinner shows on two different nights – one starring Mickey Mous and one starring Crush from Disney-Pixar’s “Finding Nemo” while you enjoy your meal.

Enchanted Garden

Guests will step into a greenhouse oasis at this stunning, y beautiful sit-down restaurant. Enchanted Garden is inspired by the gardens of Versailles and offers a seasonal menu – meaning the offerings may be different depending on when you set sail.

Royal Court

Guests will dine like royalty in the Royal Court aboard the Disney Fantasy. This French-inspired menu is sure to leave every voyage satisfied as they take in the elegant decor throughout the restaurant.

Sit-Down Restaurants on the Disney Fantasy (Adults-Only)

Similar to the options on board the Disney Dream, the Fantasy offers two adults-only restaurants. In addition to the three main restaurants, for those 18 and older who wish to have a more secluded, intimate dining experience, you should consider dining at one of the adults-only restaurants on board – Palo or Remy – for an extra cost.

For an extra cost, guests have the option to dine at Palo – a northern Italian-themed restaurant for adults only. In addition to dinner, Palo also offers a brunch option for most “at sea” days. Reservations are required for both dinner and brunch at Palo.

The other adults-only option aboard the Disney Fantasy is Remy, which offers an elegant dining experience featuring fine French-inspired cuisine. Similar to Palo, Remy also offers a brunch option, which requires advance reservations as well.

Room Service

Whether you are looking for a more casual meal or if you are looking for a midnight snack, you can order room service, which is included with the price of your cruise! The room service menu offers a wide variety of made-to-order options such as hearty burgers, crunchy french fries, delicious grilled cheese sandwiches, and more. Room service is also offered for breakfast, but instead of calling from your stateroom, you will fill out the Room Service Request Card, which is located in a drawer in your stateroom, and leave it hanging on your door the night prior. Then, when your breakfast is ready for delivery, a stateroom host or hostess will knock on your door and deliver it to your room.

No matter what you are looking for.. From a savory burger to a sweet bite of ice cream, the Disney Fantasy has many options aboard for every palate.

Disney Fantasy Rotational Dining Restaurants

If you haven’t cruised with Disney before, you may not be familiar with the term “rotational dining”.

It is a concept that is unique to Disney Cruise Line.

On all of the Disney ships, there are three main dining restaurants. This is the place where you will dine every evening.

The Rotational Dining concept means that you will dine at least once in every restaurant. On cruises longer than 3 nights, you will dine in some restaurants more than once.

Cruises on the Disney Fantasy are all at least 7 nights.

This means that you will dine in all the restaurants at least twice, and one restaurant you will dine there three times.

disney fantasy food

Being able to dine in all the restaurants is not the only great thing about Rotational Dining. The other huge positive is that your Servers come with you,

This means that you will always have the same Servers in the main restaurants for dinner. Therefore they can get to know you and this helps them to make your dining experience even more magical.

The Servers on Disney ships really are the very best. They want to make your experience the best it can be.

They will get to know your likes and dislikes so that they can guide you to the options on the menu that you will like the most.

They are also amazing at keeping the kids happy. There is always a special kids menu. The Servers are always happy to cut up the little one’s food and even serve them with a Hidden Mickey ketchup design!

All of the Rotational Dining Restaurants are included in your Disney Cruise cost.

Rotational Dining Restaurants on Disney Fantasy

Here are the 3 fabulous main dining restaurants on the Disney Fantasy.

Enchanted Garden Disney Fantasy

Enchanted Garden is visually stunning. The design is meant to create the feeling of a 19th-century French greenhouse, and it is said to be inspired by the Garden of Versailles.

disneyenchantedgardenrestaurant

At the center of Enchanted Garden is Mickey himself.

Although this is a rather “posh’ version of a 7 foot tall Mickey Mouse sitting atop an ornate fountain holding a bow and arrow.

Enchanted Garden is certainly a feast for the eyes.

The centre of the restaurant used to have the much sought-after booths.

However, these were removed in 2021 as a result of the need to social distance.

Disney Fantasy Enchanted Garden Restaurant

The detail of the decor in Enchanted Garden really is truly stunning. The ceiling is not only beautiful but provides different lighting and effects according to the time of day and the stage of your dining experience.

If you are here for breakfast or lunch, the ceiling will have the bright light of the mid-day.

However, if you are dining here in the evening, the effects will change throughout the meal. You will see what seems to be ivy climbing the walls, and the light sky turns from day to dusk.

Look out for how the lights change towards “dusk” when the flower petals will start to open.

Enchanted Garden really is a very beautiful restaurant which you will only find on the Disney Fantasy and the Dream.

Going with the theme of a French garden, the menu is described as French-influenced.

Don’t be alarmed if French food is not your thing – the influence is in passing rather than a complete takeover!

The menu is pretty much American-based with some French ideas along the way.

Here is one of the menus which is served in Enchanted Garden on both the Disney Fantasy and the Dream.

disneycruiseanimatorspalate

However, you will not be disappointed when you sit down for dinner in Animator’s Palate on the Disney Fantasy. Identical to the Dream, the technology definitely advanced from the classic ships to the Dream Class.

The decor in Animator’s Palate is very distinctive. The chairs are colored to look like Mickey Mouse’s pants, with red backs, yellow buttons, and a black belt.

Take some time to look around the restaurant – usually, after you have finished your meal is a good time to do this. All around the space are shelves full of Disney and Pixar animation memorabilia.

disneydreamanimatorspalate

The artwork on the walls changes as your meal progresses.

There are two very different “shows” on Disney Fantasy and Dream in Animator’s Palate.

These are Animation Magic and Turtle Talk with Crush.

You may get the chance to see both shows if your cruise is longer than 3 nights, depending upon your restaurant dining rotation.

The first show is  Animation Magic  at Animator’s Palate. This show debuted on the Disney Fantasy.

The other Disney ships caught up later when they went into dry dock, but the Disney Fantasy had the original Animation Magic.

What exactly is the Animation Magic show?

When you are seated at your table you will see a printed placemat and some pens.

disneyanimatorspalateshow

This is where you can let your creativity shine! Don’t worry if you are not particularly talented at drawing – the whole thing is for fun.

Make sure you follow the instructions.

This really is one time that you have to color in between the lines or the effect doesn’t work properly!

When you have finished, your Servers will take your masterpiece.

The Disney animation magic comes to life where you will see your drawing brought to life on the walls of the restaurant.

This is a really great show as all the family gets to join in. It really doesn’t matter what your drawing abilities are. It is just fun to see your character animated on the walls.

The second show is  Turtle Talk with Crush.  This is based upon the attraction at Epcot and  Disney’s California Adventure.

The appeal of Animator’s Palate is that you never quite know how the screens around you are going to come to life.

You will soon become aware that Crush really wants to talk with you.

Crush will pick certain tables and have a conversation with them. It’s a lot of fun, and certainly a unique dining experience!

Now we have spent so long talking about the decor and the shows in Animator’s Palate, what about the food?

The cuisine is described as Pacific Rim/American. Yes, you guessed it. More American than Pacific Rim.

animatorspalateappetizers

This menu does have some of my very favorite appetizers.

disneycruiseappetizer

And this is what happens when you tell your Server this is your favorite appetizer:

Disney Fantasy Animator’s Palate Entrees

disneyanimatorspalatemenu

Whilst the appetizer menu is one of my favorites, the entrees really aren’t.

I am sure that if you eat meat then the selections are fine, but I only have the fish and vegetarian options.

The Seasame Halloumi Parcel is rather disappointing – as you almost have to search for the halloumi! There is so little of the cheese it is difficult to find in amongst the sweet potato.

animatorspalatedining

Tuna is not a favorite of mine, so I usually opt for the Black Bean Chipotle Cakes. They are not the best vegetarian entree – but they are certainly better than the halloumi!

Disney Fantasy Restaurants for Adults Only

Whilst the Disney Fantasy Rotational Restaurants are excellent, the grown-ups have other choices of where to dine.

Palo and Remy are for the over 18’s only and each has an additional charge.

Disney Fantasy Palo

restaurants on disney fantasy cruise ship

All of the Disney ships have a Palo restaurant. The Disney Wish will also have Palo, although the difference is that it is named Palo Steakhouse.

Palo on the Disney Fantasy serves brunch on Sea Days. Dinner is served every night.

Palo Brunch and Dinner each have an additional charge of $45 per person. This does not include gratuity.

restaurants on disney fantasy cruise ship

The very popular Disney Palo Brunch has changed quite a bit in recent times. It used to be that guests would choose from a menu and a fabulous buffet selection.

Disney Fantasy Palo dinner

However, since the ships have started sailing again, the Brunch buffet is not available/ It has been replaced by Servers bringing a selection of antipasti to your table.

Disney Fantasy Palo

The choice between Brunch and Dinner was always a difficult one, but it tended to be that Brunch won out because of the buffet.

Now the buffet is either no more or at the very least, temporarily paused, the Brunch is not such an obvious option over the dinner.

Disney Fantasy Palo Brunch Menu

palobrunchmenu

As you can see, the menu has a large and varied selection of Brunch items. It can be difficult to narrow down your choice!

Your Servers will bring you as many items as you want to try from the menu.

disneypalobrunchmenu

All of these entrees are delicious. But I do miss the Palo Brunch buffet…

Palo Dinner Menu on Disney Fantasy

disnwypalodinnermenu

Palo Dinner is an excellent experience – the only downside is that you miss one of your Rotational Dining restaurants.

disney palo sea scallops

The food is exceptional. You can order a la carte from the menu for a charge of $45 per person. This really is an excellent value.

disneypalodinnermenu

I always used to recommend the Brunch over the Dinner at Palo. However, with the buffet table now not being available, the decision really isn’t so easy.

Disney Fantasy Remy

If you want to experience the finest dining at sea then book a table at Disney’s Remy.

Named after everyone’s favorite rat from Ratatouille, this is an experience you really should treat yourself to at least once.

For those of you familiar with Walt Disney World Restaurants , Remy is the culinary equivalent of Victoria and Albert’s.

Remy is located on Deck 12 Aft on the same deck as Palo.

Remy and Palo are separated by the Meridian Bar. This bar is often missed, but it is a hidden gem on Disney Fantasy.

Meridian Bar is a great place to spend some time, even if you are not dining at Remy or Palo. It has a great outside space as well as being very welcoming inside.

The restaurant has many very subtle references to the lovable Remy and the Pixar movie.

The decor is very elegant and if you didn’t know to look for the references you may not even see them!

Remy is a much smaller restaurant than Palo and has a much more intimate atmosphere.

Your Servers have a vast knowledge of the menu and will attend to your every need. This is indeed fine dining.

Somehow your server will know when you need them and when you want them to be out of sight.

What’s not to like about a restaurant that has a stool for you to rest your purse on?

The Remy menu is as you would expect unapologetically French.

Chef Scott Hunnel of Victoria and Albert’s and advising Chef Arnaud Lallement a 3 Michelin starred acclaimed owner of l’Assiette Champenoise restaurant in France, each create a menu.

disneydreamremyrestaurant

The Remy menu varies according to the season and what is available in the ship’s location. You can be assured that you will experience something very special when you dine at Remy.

Remy restaurant on the Disney Dream offers four different dining experiences.

  • Remy Champagne Brunch
  • Remy Dinner
  • Remy Dessert Experience
  • Petites Assiettes de Remy

My favorite is the Remy Champagne Brunch .

This begins with you being invited to wait in the Meridian Bar until your dining experience is ready to start.

You will then be taken into the restaurant with your fellow diners.

The chef and the sommelier will explain some of the details of the food and the wine. You will be served a glass of champagne and a small plate of amuse-bouche.

disneydreamremywine

Take a moment to look at some of the wines in the cabinets at the side of the room. You will probably just be looking at them rather than drinking them! Some of those bottles cost more than I paid for my first house!

Fortunately, there is a more reasonable and accessible wine and champagne list.

The Remy Brunch includes one glass of complimentary sparkling wine only.

If you want anything more you can choose a bottle or the very popular Champagne Paring option.

Your server will then show you to your table and discuss the food options with you.

If you have any special dietary requirements or preferences always discuss this with your server. They will go over and above to accommodate you.

There will follow a series of beautifully presented dishes for you to savor. Remy Brunch really is an exceptional experience on the Disney Dream.

Remy Champagne Brunch costs $75 per person.

If you want to add the Champagne Pairing it is an additional $30 per person. Even though this adds to the cost, it definitely adds to the overall experience.

Remy Dessert Experience is for those who love their desserts and want to learn more about them.

The Experience is a 5-course dessert menu served with coffee.

But it isn’t just about eating.

Remy’s Executive Chef and Pastry Chef explain the history and concepts behind each of the desserts offered. This is another exceptional experience offered by Remy.

disneyremybrunch

The Remy Dessert Experience on the Disney Dream is available for $60 per person.

There is a $25 additional charge per person when adding the wine pairing.

Petites Assiettes de Remy is a different experience where you combine small plates with a 6-course wine tasting.

This is only offered on the first day of your sailing in the early evening. It is hosted by the Executive Chef and the Sommelier of Remy. Be prepared to enjoy the excellent food and also learn something about it.

The cost for Petites Assiettes de Remy is $50 per person including the wine pairing.

Remy Dinner is offered for each night of your cruise. This is an amazing dining experience.

Though it is a splurge at $125 per person plus $105 if you want to add the wine pairing, dining at Remy really is something that you have to experience at least once in a lifetime!

disneydreamremydinner

One of the highlights is the fabulous Collette cocktail which is named after one of the characters in Ratatouille.

This is a delicious combination of Prosecco, Grey Goose, Grand Marnier, Cassis Pearls, and Dried Pineapple.

You have to choose between two menus.

You have a choice of the Saveur Menu which is the French menu or the Gout Menu which is American.

disneyremy

I realize that Remy is a bit of a splurge, but it is worth every penny.

It may be pricey, but it is excellent value compared to a similar experience on land. Go on and treat yourself!

Disney Fantasy Dining: 13 Places to Eat on Your Disney Cruise

Sharing is caring!

Planning your first Disney Cruise and want to know all your Disney Fantasy dining options? Here’s a full list of what you can expect!

This disney fantasy dining post was written by family travel expert marcie cheung and contains affiliate links which means if you purchase something from one of my affiliate links, i may earn a small commission that goes back into maintaining this blog..

I recently had the opportunity to cruise on the Disney Fantasy and it was such an amazing experience. One of the highlights, of course, was all the food. I can’t believe how much I ate!

Most of the Disney Fantasy dining options are totally free. At least, it’s part of the regular cost of the cruise, so there is no added charge.

What I loved about all the restaurants on the Disney Fantasy was that you can order whatever you want and have as much as you want.

Even though the menu is laid out in courses, you can still order what you like, even if it’s multiple entrees. Some of the restaurants serve dinner only while others are open for breakfast and/or lunch.

There are also all kinds of great options for snacks and treats on the Disney Fantasy that you will not want to miss, even though some of them do cost more.

Keep scrolling to find out about all your Disney fantasy dining options including room service, rotational dining, meals with Disney characters, and more!

Best Places to Eat on the Disney Fantasy Cruise Ship

Cruise ship character dining.

First, there’s Character Dining. There is one experience that includes characters and that’s the  Royal Court Royal Tea which costs $220 per child and $69 per adult.

This princess tea party is full of fun activities and a gift bag full of goodies. It’s expensive, but you do get great value from the experience and the gifts.

Special Dinners on Disney Fantasy

Animator’s palate.

Animator’s Palate  is different on every Disney cruise ship, so if you have been there before, it might not be as you experienced it on the Disney Fantasy.

In this version, Crush converses with dining guests and kids can bring their own drawings to life. This Disney Fantasy Dining is part of the cost of your cruise.

Palo  is an adults-only Italian restaurant that charges passengers $45 per person to enjoy a prix-fixe dinner. There is a dress code to dine at Palo.

Disney Fantasy Dining: Where to Eat on Your Disney Cruise, tips featured by top US Disney blogger, Marcie and the Mouse: Kobe beef with turnip and potato gratin, served with thyme jus. Chef Arnaud Lallement, Remy (Matt Stroshane, photographer)

My husband and I decided to splurge and do Palo on our last Disney Cruise and we still talk about how delicious it was! We highly recommend booking a table there!

While Palo is available on all Disney Cruise Ships, the Disney Fantasy also has Remy, an even finer restaurant from two award-winning chefs.

The French restaurant offers three distinct experiences. The Remy Champagne Brunch is $75 per person. There is also a $60 Remy dessert experience. Dinner is $125 per person.

restaurants on disney fantasy cruise ship

It’s important to book reservations in advance if you want to dine at Palo or Remy.

If you aren’t able to reserve a table, they do hold some open tables for the cruise. When you get on board, head to the restaurant first to try again for an opening.

Disney fantasy dining options.

Disney Fantasy Dining includes four other restaurants to experience during your cruise.

Cabanas  is the buffet that is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Every Disney ship has Cabanas.

Since Disney always has a theme and a story behind what it does, it should be no surprise that there is an original inspiration behind the design of this restaurant which is made to evoke the feeling of a stroll on an Australian boardwalk promenade.

Two huge mosaic walls based on the Disney•Pixar animated feature “Finding Nemo” are showcased in Cabanas casual-dining restaurant on the Disney Dream. Created for Disney Dream by Italian artists, each wall is more than 25 feet wide and more than 8 feet high and contains approximately 194,500 tiles in 200 colors of hand-crafted Venetian enamel. A team of nine artists created the mosaics based on Pixar designs depicting the underwater world of Australia’s Great Barrier Reef and characters featured in the motion picture, such as Nemo and Squirt, pictured here. (Kent Phillips, photographer)

The greatest feature of the themed decor is the floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook vast seascapes. If you’re asking yourself, “why Australia?” consider P. Sherman from Sydney.

A 30′ Mozaic adds a Disney touch to the dining room with a scene depicting the Pixar classic  Finding Nemo .

The first rotational restaurant I want to highlight is  Animator’s Palate , which I mentioned earlier. This was our favorite restaurant because the screens keep the kids entertained throughout dinner.

Enchanted Garden

A bright, airy, and elegant  Enchanted Garden  offers a Disney Fantasy dining experience, which is only available on one other ship, the Dream.

Pan-Seared Seabass in Enchanted Garden on the Disney Dream (Preston Mack, photographer)

Scenic Frescoes are enhanced and altered by an ever-changing light pattern, bringing the ambiance of daytime, sunset, and evening.

Royal Palace

This rotational restaurant on the Disney Fantasy is matched only by the  Royal Palace . This dining area takes all kinds of inspiration from Disney classics such as  Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs , and  Sleeping Beauty .

Royal Palace on the Disney Dream is an elegant restaurant inspired by the classic Disney films “Cinderella,” “Snow White,” “Beauty and the Beast” and “Sleeping Beauty.” Splendid décor includes essential elements from each fairy tale such as tiaras, glass slippers, roses and apples. With meticulous attention to detail, many of the restaurant’s features are modeled precisely from the classic films. (Jimmy DeFlippo, photographer)

There are even details in the floor plan columns and railing that faithfully recreate the Ballroom scene in  Cinderella .

Disney Fantasy Juice Bar

You may be aware that the Disney Fantasy has a Senses Spa. This is available to all guests for an additional charge, whether you want to use it for fitness, or relaxation.

One feature of the Senses Spa is the  Senses Juice Bar  which is not included in the price of your cruise.

It is, however, an excellent place to refresh and replenish with freshly blended beverages from fruits and vegetables.

Additional fees depend on what you order at the Juice Bar, just as they would with cocktails in the ship’s lounges.

Snacks on Disney Fantasy

The restaurants in the Disney Fantasy dining rotation and the fine dining options for brunch and dinner, provide way more than enough food.

You can eat as much as you want, so why on Earth are there snacks on the ship? There are, though!

Disney Fantasy Dining: Where to Eat on Your Disney Cruise, tips featured by top US Disney blogger, Marcie and the Mouse: Sweet on You ice cream shop on the Disney Fantasy Cruise Ship

Sweet Treats

Not only that, they treat shops like  Sweet on You , Frozone, Eye Scream  are really good. As if the Disney Cruise Line restaurants weren’t indulgent enough, the snack counters and treat shops push it over the edge in a fun way that you should consider exploring during some part of your stay on the ship.

Flo’s Cafe

Flo’s Cafe  is a Cars inspired quick service location that’s outdoors and features three types of food based on characters from the film. Here you will find Luigi’s Pizza, Mater’s Grill, and Filmore’s Favorites.

For ice cream, you have to go to  Eye Scream, Frozone Treats , or  Sweet on You . These places take inspiration from  Monsters Inc, The Incredibles,  and Mickey & Minnie Mouse respectively.

Sweet on You  has the best variety of candy, gelato, and other Disney-inspired treats, including a massive sundae, served in a souvenir cup. This particular sweet shop is only found on the Disney Dream and the Disney Fantasy.

Preludes  is the concessions stand near the Walt Disney Theater. The extravagant playhouse is for Broadway-caliber performances and uses 3D at Sea technology that transforms the entire theater into an immersive environment.

You can stop at Preludes for cookies, candy, popcorn, or even cocktails before the show, or be tended to by the Disney wait staff inside the theater.

As with the shops for sweets and treats, Preludes charges additional fees for their offerings.

Room Service on the Disney Fantasy

We took advantage of room service a few times during our last trip. It makes life so much easier with kids when they are wiped.

One Disney cruise tip I learned from friends is that you can order Mickey Mouse ice cream bars via room service!

Disney Fantasy Restaurants FAQs

What are the three main dining restaurants on the disney fantasy.

The three main dining restaurants on the Disney Fantasy are:

This restaurant features a colorful, interactive animation-themed decor and serves Pacific Rim cuisine.

This restaurant has a garden-inspired decor and serves a variety of American and European dishes.

Royal Court

This restaurant has a regal decor inspired by classic Disney princesses and serves French-inspired cuisine.

These restaurants are part of the rotational dining system, which means that guests rotate between the three restaurants throughout their cruise, allowing them to experience each one.

What are the dining rotations on the Disney Fantasy?

The dining rotations on the Disney Fantasy are part of Disney Cruise Line’s rotational dining system, which allows guests to experience different main dining restaurants throughout their cruise.

The rotational dining system allows guests to experience different restaurants and menus throughout their cruise, while still having the same waitstaff each night.

I know it sounds confusing, but it makes a lot more sense when you’re on the ship.

The system ensures that guests have a variety of dining options and experiences, while also providing a sense of consistency and personalization with their dining service.

Is there a buffet on Disney Fantasy?

Yes, there is a buffet-style restaurant on the Disney Fantasy called Cabanas. Located on Deck 11, Cabanas serves breakfast and lunch in a casual, relaxed atmosphere.

At breakfast, guests can enjoy a variety of hot and cold breakfast dishes, including eggs, bacon, pastries, fruit, and more. At lunch, Cabanas offers a selection of salads, sandwiches, soups, and other dishes.

In addition to the buffet-style dining, Cabanas also offers outdoor seating with beautiful views of the ocean, as well as a beverage station with a selection of soft drinks, teas, and coffee.

What is NOT included on the Disney Fantasy?

While many amenities and activities are included in the cost of a Disney Fantasy cruise, there are some things that are not included. These can include:

Alcoholic beverages

While non-alcoholic beverages such as soda, coffee, and tea are included in the cost of the cruise, alcoholic beverages are not included and must be purchased separately.

Specialty dining

While the main dining restaurants and Cabanas buffet are included in the cost of the cruise, there are additional specialty dining options on board that require an additional fee, such as Palo and Remy.

Spa and salon services

Services at the Senses Spa and Salon, including massages, facials, and hair treatments, are not included in the cost of the cruise.

Shore excursions

While Disney Cruise Line offers a variety of shore excursions at each port of call, these activities are not included in the cost of the cruise.

While gratuities for dining and stateroom staff are automatically added to your onboard account, they are not included in the initial cost of the cruise and should be budgeted for separately.

Overall, it’s important to budget for these additional expenses when planning and booking a Disney Fantasy cruise, to ensure that you can enjoy all that the ship has to offer without unexpected expenses.

Disney Cruise Line Dining Wrap Up

Now you know all the restaurants that are included in the price of your cruise as well as a few fine dining options that aren’t.

As part of Disney’s Rotational Dining Schedule the Royal Court, Animator’s Palate , and Enchanted Garden are all part of your cruise dining experience. And as these meals are all included in your Disney Cruise package, you can enjoy as much as you like! Know that Disney Cruise Restaurant Menus do vary for each cruise depending on the availability of ingredients. That said, we’ll share what we’ve had so you can see some options. Here’s everything to know about where you’ll be eating each evening on the Disney Fantasy Cruise.

Royal Court Disney Fantasy Restaurant

Royal Court Restaurant

The Royal Court Restaurant on the Disney Fantasy Cruise features spaces filled with murals of our favorite Disney films. Honoring the Disney princesses, areas of the restaurant include Little Mermaid, Snow White, Cinderella, Beauty, and the Beast, Sleeping Beauty, and Aladdin. Absolutely beautiful, this restaurant is covered in gold accents, and glittering scenes, and even has Cinderella carriage lights that sit atop the area dividers. Moreover, if you choose to skip the buffet onboard, you can also grab both breakfast and lunch here.

Available for breakfast you can have a variety of egg dishes, french toast, plant-based options, and more. Lunch at Royal Court is 3 courses and includes entrees like whitefish, chicken breast, and ribs. Alongside salads, bread, and dessert. We loved the bruschetta appetizer here.

For dinner, you can enjoy 4 courses, including an appetizer, soup or salad, entree, and dessert. Seafood, meat, and plant-based options are all available. Dishes like French onion soup, roasted tenderloin, filet mignon, and pasta all take on a French flair as part of the Royal Court theme. Check out the Royal Court Restaurant Menu to see what you may have to choose from on your cruise.

Royal Court Disney Cruise Restaurant

Animator’s Palate

Animator’s Palate is a mainstay restaurant on the Disney Wonder, Magic, Dream, and Fantasy ships. Serving up amazing food in a fun animation atmosphere, Animator’s Palate is only open for dinner on the Disney Fantasy. Offering a mix of Pacific Island foods, Asian cooking, and California fare, this restaurant has some of the best food on board. Lemon thyme chicken, black bean chipotle cakes, and a selection of fine desserts are all part of the offerings. Check out the Animator’s Palate Restaurant Menu for what you can enjoy during your trip.

Meanwhile, as part of the atmosphere, Animator’s Palate features a digital show. Found on all four boats, each has a different theme depending on which boat you sail. On the Disney Fantasy, Animator’s Palate has two different shows depending on how many nights you sail.

Undersea Magic

And if you’re ready to go under the Big Blue Sea then this dinner show at Animator’s Palate may be your ticket! In Undersea Magic guests get the chance to see Finding Nemo characters via digital animation, have a conversation with Crush, and explore the Finding Nemo story.

Animation Magic

Ever want to see your art on the big screen? Or a small screen framed by a picture frame? You can draw to your heart’s delight prior to enjoying your meal at Animator’s Palate. Because in Animation Magic guests can draw their own artwork and have it become part of the animated show!  ( Shown on Disney Fantasy and cruises more than 7 nights )

Animator's Palate Dinner Menu

Enchanted Garden

Themed to Alice in Wonderland this restaurant features garden paintings, lattice decor, and garden-themed meals. Serving up salads, seafood, and fresh dishes, you can find Ahi tuna, Portobello mushroom dishes, and even curried and apple soup here. Enchanted Garden also has a delicious variety of desserts, including sundaes, cakes, and puddings.

Encahnted Garden Menu

Disney Fantasy Restaurants Adult-Only Dining

The Disney Fantasy Cruise ship has two Adult-Exclusive Restaurants onboard; Palo and Remy. These restaurants are both located on Deck 12, near the Meridian Lounge. Keep in mind these are 18+ and do have a dress code. One of the best things for Adults to do on a Disney Cruise is to make a special night out to one of the Disney Adult-Only Restaurants. These meals are NOT included in your Disney Cruise Package , so you must reserve them ahead of time. Guests may only book ONE dinner in advance for Palo. However, if your Palo night is the first night of your cruise, you are able to make a second reservation at either Palo or Remy on another night of your cruise.

Remy on a Disney Cruise Adult Dining

This restaurant serves fine French fare in an atmosphere of elegance and ocean views. With gourmet selections crafted by Chef Scott Hunnel and Chef Arnaud Lallement. “Dinner begins with a complimentary “Collette,” a chilled Champagne cocktail prepared at your table.” Offering regional, fresh ingredients, langoustine, duck, elk, sablefish and Kobe beef are on the list of options. Alternatively, Remy also offers a brunch, dessert, and wine-tasting experience.  Current prices for Remy are as follows: Dinner $125 per person, Wine pairing is $230 per person, brunch is $80 per person (add an extra $30 for a Champagne pairing), and the Dessert Experience is $60 (add $25 for the wine pairing). Check out the Disney Fantasy Remy Menu .

Palo Restaurant Disney Fantasy Cruise

This Adult-Only restaurant on the Disney Fantasy features Northern Italian cuisine in a four-course meal. Salads, pasta, meats, and seafood are all part of the menu. Palo features Italian decor and offers ocean views and live music. It is an Adults-Only restaurant (18+) and requires reservations, and costs extra. Palo offers a prix fixe dinner at $70 per person with an option for a la carte items. Brunch is $50 per person, and you can technically order as much as you like, but no longer includes a brunch buffet option. We loved getting Brunch at Palo , with views of the water and elegant decor, it felt extra fancy, and surprisingly affordable. Check out the Disney Fantasy Palo Menu.

Disney Dream Cabanas

Disney Fantasy Restaurants Quick Service

The Disney Fantasy Restaurants for fast Food are Cabanas and Flo’s Cafe. Along with a variety of ice cream and smoothie shops. The Disney Fantasy offers two kinds of Quick Service Dining experiences onboard. The main Quick Service Restaurant is Cabanas, which offers indoor and outdoor seating and serves a variety of meal options. Cabanas is the same restaurant you’ll find on Disney Magic, Wonder, and Dream. The other places to find Disney Fantasy Food is at food counters littered around Deck 11 under the “Flo’s Cafe” name. Here is the lineup of quick service meals on the Disney Fantasy.

The quick-service dining family restaurant onboard the Disney Fantasy, Cabanas has several self-serve stations that are set up for breakfast and lunch. Consider this your go-to restaurant when you are just hoping for an easy and quick meal. Cabanas have a variety of foods to satisfy any palate including appetizers, entrees, and desserts. Breakfast includes basics like eggs and potatoes, while yogurt, cereal, and oatmeal bars are also open. And lunch offers a variety of options like various sources of proteins, salads, and finger foods for more selective eaters.

Know that while Cabanas is open throughout the day it does close at certain times, so get familiar with the schedule once you are on board. Cabanas offers both indoor and outdoor deck seating. Pre-pandemic, Cabanas also offered a sit-down dinner option for those wishing to have a more flexible dining schedule. We haven’t seen that return to Disney Cruise Line yet, but it may in the future.

Flo’s Cafe

Another option for a quick meal can be found at Flo’s Cafe on the Disney Fantasy. This trio of counter-service restaurants offers up simple pizzas, salads, wraps, fruit, burgers, and fries. Featuring Luigi’s Pizza, Tow Mater’s Grill, and Fillmore’s Favorites . Complete with a toppings bar and plenty of seating. As (almost) all of your Disney Cruise food is included in your cruise, these mini counter service restaurants are a great option if you’re looking for a snack between meals.

Other Places to Grab a Bite on the Disney Fantasy

In addition to the main places to get “real food”, you can also grab snacks, treats, and more at a few other places on the Disney Fantasy.

  • Preludes: The Preludes counter includes both fountain and alcoholic beverages, and popcorn for an additional cost. So if you’re hoping to grab something special on your way into the movie or show, Preludes is where you’ll get it. Located on Decks 3 and 4.
  • Senses Juice Bar: Senses Juice Bar is a specialty juice bar just next to the gym. Juices here are crafted by hand and do cost extra. This is an adult-only space.
  • Frozone Treats: This smoothie counter is located on Deck 11 and is home to specialty Dole whip and Greek yogurt-based smoothies. A great way to get in your extra nutrients. Frozone offers smoothies and dole whip for an extra cost.
  • Eye Scream Treats: This ice cream counter is home to the FREE Ice Cream cone station available on every Disney Cruise. There are a variety of soft-serve flavors here. This counter is open all day and can be frequented as often as you like.
  • Sweet on You Sweet Shop : If you’re looking for something super-indulgent, then we have the shop for you! Sweet on You is located on Deck 11 of the Disney Fantasy and offers specialty gelato, sundaes, cupcakes, and all kinds of sweets. These treats cost extra, but they’re fun if you want to splurge!

Disney Ooh La La Bar on the Disney Cruise

Disney Fantasy Dining Lounges

If you’re looking for where all the fun family activities take place during the day. Or if you’re a Disney Adult on a Cruise looking for where you can score your next drink, then get to know the Disney Fantasy Lounge spaces. By far some of the most beautifully decorated on the ship, they’re all worth the visit.

Is Alcohol included on a Disney Cruise?

No. Alcohol is not included with your Disney Cruise vacation and must be purchased separately. You can check out all the things Not Included on a Disney Cruise for all the details.

Found on Deck 13 on the Disney Fantasy, this outdoor bar, can be found on the Adult Deck. Currents has outdoor shaded seating spaces on top the boat for excellent views, and grabbing a drink poolside.

A smaller bar on the Disney Fantasy, Skyline is a lounge offering up views of the skyline on the horizon that magically change from day to night. Cozy spaces and elegant dark corners make this a great lounge if you’re looking to get away.

Disney Cruise Line Disney Fantasy

This Italian-themed lounge sits center of the Europa area on the Disney Fantasy and connects all the other lounges. With drinks served up on a round bar, La Piazza lends to a carousel theme, while also offering booth seating spaces around the room. This lounge also has live music in the evenings.

Themed to the London subway, The Tube has London-themed decor and music. Done up in reds, blacks and blues, there is ample seating and a variety of drinks to be had. One of the larger lounges aboard the Disney Fantasy, larger-scale activities like trivia and towel folding take place here.

O’Gills Pub

This quaint Irish pub on the Disney Fantasy features leather seating, a single bar, and a large screen tv. If you’re looking for something out of the way then O’ Gills Pub is an excellent choice. Used for games and trivia throughout the day, this pub turns into a proper bar in the evenings. O’Gills is located just off La Piazza, in the Europa area.

Disney Fantasy Cruise Meridian Lounge

One of the classiest Disney Cruise Lounges onboard, the Meridian sits snuggly between Palo and Remy on Deck 12, with indoor and outdoor views of the ocean, off the back of the ship. Semi-formal attire is required for this Disney Lounge. But with an amazing atmosphere and views, you can only see from this part of the ship, it’s well worth dressing up for.

This lobby adjacent lounge features a single bar with bar stools and an opportunity to grab a drink while enjoying activities in the atrium. Bon Voyage offers up cocktails, coffees, juices, and sodas.

This Wine and Champagne bar is done up in all kinds of French luxury. Lending to the name, Ooh La La , you can expect to find lush furnishings, glass baubles and velvet drapes to help set the mood. Featuring champagnes and wines, Ooh La La is often used for liqueur tastings, pairing classes and more throughout the day. You can also catch live piano music in the evenings while sipping and enjoying small snacks.

Cove Cafe on the Disney Wonder Cruise Ship

Disney Fantasy Coffee Shops

One of the best parts about a Disney Cruise is the chance to be leisurely. And with 2 coffee shops on board, you can simply grab a cup, and a book, and settle in on Deck 4 for sights, stories, and sips of your favorite coffee drinks. Know that specialty coffees cost extra and are not included in your Disney Cruise package . But of course, free coffee is available at the drinks stations. And that always works too.

This art-deco-inspired cafe features coffees, and pastries to help get you through the day. Know that Vista Cafe specialty coffees do cost extra, but the pastries in the case are included with your Disney Cruise ! Be on the lookout for the recommended coffee, since this is typically one of the best they make. And be sure to grab a coffee card so you can get a free coffee.

Also, since each boat has some similarities there are a couple of things that are available on all of them.  Cove Cafe is the boat’s coffee shop. Often tucked away in the Adult area of Deck 11, Cove Cafe offers specialty coffees for a fee and free pastries from the case.

Dinner Gratuities and Tips on a Disney Cruise

While the meals on a Disney Cruise are all included, gratuities for dinner only are added to your Cruise bill at the end of your trip. Typically this is an additional 18% charge for each dinner which covers multiple servers that tend to you throughout your meal experiences. Note that this charge is for your dinner meal only. If you choose to eat at either Enchanted Garden or Royal Court for breakfast or lunch there is no extra gratuity charge. Note, that cruise guests can pay their gratuities ahead of time.

Dining on the Disney Fantasy

There you have it. A quick lineup of where you can find Disney Fantasy Food on the Disney Fantasy Cruise Ship. From Disney Fantasy Coffee Shops to Bars, to restaurants, hopefully, this has given you a good idea of your Disney Cruise Rotational Dining options, and where to grab your next ice cream cone. Happy sailing.

Disney Fantasy Ship Overview

The Disney Fantasy Cruise Ship at sea

Image © Disney

The arrival of the Disney Fantasy in 2012 marked what many saw (at the time) as the “completion” of Disney’s fleet, bringing the total number of ships to four. Disney Magic and Disney Wonder had launched more than a decade earlier in the late 1990s, followed by the Disney Dream in 2011.

While the launch of the Dream one year earlier had consumed some of the pent-up demand for a new Disney Cruise ship, the Fantasy’s arrival was still a source of excitement for avid cruisers. Like the Dream, Imagineers planning the Fantasy were able to take advantage of all the experience and technological advances they’d perfected since the launch of the first ships. Innovations such as the AquaDuck water coaster and an onboard mystery game featuring interactive artwork, the Fantasy offers lots to keep its Guests occupied.

As you arrive at the port and approach the Disney Fantasy, you might notice Dumbo and Timothy on the ship’s stern. Dumbo’s 7-foot ear span and 2,300 weight — contrasted against their apparent size compared to the rest of the ship — help drive home the true size of this amazing floating city.

Inside, the three-decks-tall grand atrium lobby of the ship pays homage to the golden age of steamliner travel. A statue of Minnie Mouse — in period-appropriate garb and with luggage in tow — greets passengers embarking on their seafaring adventure.

This central hub of activity is decorated in an Art Nouveau motif, with designs reminiscent of peacock feathers repeated throughout.

From the atrium, take gleaming glass elevators to your stateroom or to any of the restaurants, theatres, pools, and activities scattered about the ship’s 14 passenger decks.

How Does Disney Fantasy Compare to Other Disney Cruise Ships?

The Disney Fantasy is a sister ship to the Disney Dream ; the two ships, which launched within roughly a year of one another, are generally the same in terms of construction. That said, some similar areas on each ship are themed slightly differently from one another — the nightclub district, for example, offers entirely different venues on each ship. The Fantasy (and Dream) are significantly larger than the two original ships ( Disney Magic and Disney Wonder ) but remain slightly smaller than the Disney Wish .

The Disney Fantasy is one of the “mid-sized” ships in the Disney Cruise fleet, at least based on what we now about the remaining Disney Cruise ships currently being built . It is larger than the classic ships, but will be well below the gargantuan size of the ship Disney is planning to launch in Singapore in 2025.

Disney Fantasy is one of only two ships in the fleet to offer the AquaDuck water coaster, the Remy adult-exclusive fine dining restaurant, and virtual portholes (with live camera views of the outside) for its inside staterooms.

Should I Pick the Fantasy or a Smaller/Larger Ship?

Ship size is usually a matter of personal preference depending on how importantly you rank the various pros and cons.

Smaller ships such as the Magic and Wonder are generally easier to navigate on foot – indeed, you’re just a short walk away from the restaurants or virtually anything else onboard. My wife and I tend to prefer the smaller ships for this very reason — but I can honestly say we’ve never found the difference compelling enough to steer us toward solely booking the smaller ships. Interestingly enough, Katie and I have sailed onboard the larger ships more than the smaller ones, even though we prefer the smaller ones.

We at MagicGuides also tend to recommend smaller ships for first-time cruisers as they might feel a bit less overwhelming — but again, it’s not a major consideration. My first Disney Cruise (and my first cruise ever, for that matter) was on the Disney Fantasy’s sister ship the Disney Dream; I never felt overwhelmed during my maiden voyage and you likely won’t either.

On the other hand, some repeat cruisers love larger ships such as the Disney Fantasy because the larger size is simply just a bit more impressive and immersive. There’s no doubt that the larger size fully envelops you in the action. That first glimpse of the ship in port as you arrive for your cruise — and its looming presence at every port along the way, almost become a point of pride for cruisers.

Larger ships such as the Fantasy are at a disadvantage in smaller ports where they might simply not fit, but this usually is not a concern. Disney wisely plans its itineraries to avoid this issue wherever possible, though some ports are so small that virtually every cruise ship has to rely on tsmaller boats to ferry you to shore (known as tendering ).

A bigger ship means more passengers, so onboard venues are larger as a result. Luckily, the larger restaurants, theaters, and pools do a great job of handling the additional passengers so it rarely feels crowded. Those larger venues also give you more options; you can pick a lower or upper balcony seat at a movie theatre, for example, or you might simply have more shops/lounges to choose from. But don’t worry that it’s too big — the Imagineers who designed the ship pulled out their bag of design tricks such as forced perspective, which means you can still find cozy spots onboard that almost make it feel like you have the ship to yourself. Sailing during slower times can also help.

Disney Fantasy Staterooms

A bed, couch, and desk, in front of a sliding glass door leading to a verandah balcony

Choosing your own private room onboard the ship is a major part of planning your Disney Cruise. Your stateroom (AKA your passenger cabin) serves as your hotel room at sea. It’s where you’ll spend a decent portion of your waking hours — and where you’ll sleep each night.

The Disney Fantasy boasts 1,250 staterooms, most of which offer outside views through a porthole window or a private verandah (balcony). There are four primary types of staterooms on the ship; each of those four types is further divided into multiple categories and subcategories. Your choice of stateroom is one of the biggest factors in the how much a Disney Cruise costs , because the per-person cost can increase depending on the stateroom category.

Here is a brief list of the room types offered onboard. They’re listed here generally from least expensive to most expensive, though there may be some price overlap. For a more in-depth look at each of these room types, including complete descriptions and photos, check out our Disney Cruise Staterooms article.

Inside Staterooms on Disney Fantasy

An inside stateroom on the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy

Inside Staterooms are the smallest Guest rooms on the ship, but are still larger than those found on some other cruise lines. Luckily they’re wisely designed to offer plenty of room for everyone and their luggage.

These staterooms have no porthole window and no balcony, but on the Disney Fantasy they do feature something called a “magical porthole.” That’s a circular video screen which provides live video from the outside, along with occasional character sightings.

Inside staterooms are offered in standard and deluxe variants, with standard being the smaller of the two. The standard version is also the only regular stateroom category on the ship which does not feature a split bathroom configuration. A split bathroom has a toilet & sink in one section, with a shower & sink in the other; this provides the handy benefit of allowing two people to get ready at the same time.

Oceanview Staterooms on Disney Fantasy

Oceanview staterooms offer an outside view through a porthole window. Note that the window does not open.

There are two major choices within this category: a  Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom which is similar in layout to many other staterooms on the ship, and a  Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom  which is larger and offers many additional features geared toward larger families. Family staterooms generally hold more people than other staterooms onboard.

Verandah staterooms offer a private outside balcony which can be accessed through glass doors in your room. Most verandahs have see-through metal railings, but don’t fret if you have a toddler cruising with you — they also have clear plexiglass sheets on them for safety. Note that a few verandah category staterooms have solid metal partitions or are otherwise somewhat obstructed.

Disney Fantasy Dining and Lounges

A themed dining room with columns shaped like giant paintbrushes

It’s common knowledge that dining is an important part of the cruise experience , and the Disney Fantasy certainly lives up to those expectations. Onboard, you’ll find three main dining restaurants, two elegant adult-exclusive specialty dining options, a nightclub district and several lounges, plus plenty of places to grab a quick meal or a snack.

Rotational Dining Restaurants on Disney Fantasy

Like all Disney Cruise Ships, the Disney Fantasy offers rotational dining during the nightly dinner service. This concept is a Disney Cruise Line dining innovation; you’re pre-scheduled to visit a different restaurant on each night of the cruise with no need to make individual reservations. And you’ll have the same servers each night, so they’ll get to know you and your food preferences.

Dinner at these three restaurants is included in the cost of your Disney Cruise .

Animator’s Palate

Animator’s Palate is the flagship dining experience on the Disney Fantasy. It offers a fan-favorite menu along with a taste of the magic of animation.

The menu is inspired by the cuisines of Asia, California, and the Pacific. Be sure to try the black truffle pasta purseittes, a personal favorite of mine (and of many other repeat cruisers). You’ll also find butternut squash soup, wild mushroom risotto, polenta cake with tomatoes and mushroom, a lemon-thyme marinated chicken dish, beef tenderloin, and much more.

Your dinner also includes one of several shows which focus on the art of animation.

In one version of the show — known as Undersea Magic — interactive digital animation of the Finding Nemo characters allows you to talk with Crush! It’s very similar to EPCOT’s Turtle Talk with Crush.

Animated Turtle Crush talks with diners at their table

In another version of the show — known as Animation Magic — you get a chance to become an animator! Start out by drawing your own character on a special paper placemat, then watch in awe as Sorcerer Mickey brings them to life at the end of your meal! I had a chance to do this on another Disney ship… it really does feel like magic!

  • Enchanted Garden

The atmosphere of this French countryside conservatory truly does feel enchanted; it magically changes from daytime to sunset to nighttime, all during the course of your dinner! Light fixtures transform and flowers “bloom” as your meal proceeds.

A fountain with Mickey Mouse atop serves as the centerpiece of a conservatory-themed dining room

Enchanted Garden offers a farm-fresh continental cuisine menu; My wife loves the lobster ravioli, while I’m always impressed by the unique curried carrot & apple soup. You an also enjoy the Ahi tuna and avocado tower, a lovely sea bass, marjoram-scented chicken, or pork tenderloin. Round out the meal with a tempting dessert of steamed lemon buttermilk pudding, banana sundaes, chocolate tortes, and almond meringue cake. Don’t be shy — order more than one!

Enchanted Garden sometimes serves as an alternate breakfast and lunch option (versus the primary onboard buffet Cabanas ).

  • Royal Court

An elegantly-set dining table with white tablecloth

You’re invited to a royal feast at this elegant restaurant inspired by the greatest animated princess tales Disney has ever made. You’ll see nods to Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and many more classics.

Your four-course royal feast includes French- and American-inspired options. I love anything with pomegranate so I always order the pomegranate-glazed duck breast. There’s also spinach soufflé, and iced lobster and jumbo shrimp cocktail, avocado citrus salad, French onion soup, beef tenderloin with lobster medallions, and many more tempting choices. For dessert, indulge in a crunchy and creamy crème brûlée or enjoy a peanut butter mousse.

Royal Court may also serve an alternate breakfast or lunch service on some days.

Adult-Exclusive Dining on the Disney Fantasy

Disney cruises are certainly family-friendly, but there are still options which cater solely to adults because everyone needs a little time to themselves. One of the best adult-exclusive offerings on the Disney Fantasy is its duo of elegant specialty restaurants . So send the kids off to the Oceaneer Club, put on some nice clothes, and enjoy a date night at Palo or Remy!

Tables in front of floor-to-ceiling windows at Palo restaurant

Palo is the home of memorable Italian cuisine during your cruise. This gorgeous venue includes giant windows overlooking the ocean, providing a perfect backdrop for your meal. Dinner menu items include seared sea scallops, tableside-fileted dover sole, butternut agnolotti, tiramisu, and a signature chocolate soufflé that’s considered one of the most popular items across the entire Disney Cruise fleet. On sea days, a tremendously-popular brunch service is typically offered.

Dining here requires an upcharge and space is usually in high demand; book as early as your onboard booking window allows.

The elegant dining room of Remy on the Disney Dream/Fantasy cruise ships

The most upscale onboard dining experience onboard the Disney Fantasy is Remy. The restaurant, named in honor of the diminutive chef in Ratatouille , transports you to France for a gourmet experience like no other. Dine in the main room, the 900-bottle wine room, or splurge for the luxurious private Gusteau room (complete with a custom multi-course menu).

Dinner at Remy begins with a signature champagne cocktail prepared at your table. Then, it’s a gastronomic adventure designed in part by Chef Scott Hunnel (of Disney World’s Victoria & Albert’s) and Chef Arnaud Lallement (recipient of three Michelin stars and voted by  other Michelin-starred chefs as one of the 10 best chefs in the entire world). A gourmet cheese trolley and selections such as duck, elk, Kobe beef, langoustine, and sablefish are hallmarks of the menu.

On certain cruises, there’s also a highly-demanded champagne brunch as well as a multi-course dessert experience.

Dining here requires a fairly significant upcharge. You’ll want to book as early as possible to have the best chance of securing a spot.

Casual Dining on the Disney Fantasy Cruise Ship

Cabanas | Image © Disney

Breakfast and lunch are casual meals onboard the Disney Fantasy. So come as you are (just cover up any swimsuits) and grab a quick meal at Cabanas.

This buffet-style restaurant has nearly a dozen food stations offering a mix of American, Asian, and European favorites in an all-you-care-to-eat breakfast and lunch.

Décor-wise, you’re clearly “on the beach” here. You’ll find palm trees, “sand castle” artwork, and a Caribbean soundtrack. There’s also an impressive set of mosaic walls, with roughly 194,500 tiny Venetian enamel tiles making up scenes inspired by  Finding Nemo and the Great Barrier Reef.

As to the food, those seeking traditional American Breakfast favorites won’t be disappointed here. You’ll find all the usual morning offerings — custom-made omelets, bacon & sausage, Mickey Waffles, hash browns, and so on. But I always suggest making an effort to also try some of the international offerings that we normally don’t have for breakfast here in the states — perhaps an Asian offering such as rice and miso soup, or a European breakfast of fresh muesli with dried fruits and nuts. Because everything’s included, you can still pile on the Mickey Waffles alongside your more-adventurous choices.

Lunch at Cabanas is a daily-changing mix of chilled and hot choices. Jumbo iced shrimp & crab claws are longtime cruise favorites here, along with hamburgers, sandwiches, pizza, freshly-grilled meats, veggies, and much more.

Cabanas also offers an alternative dinner service most nights. It’s not buffet style at night; a server will present you with a menu and bring your food to you, and it’s usually a rather quiet meal. My spouse and I will sometimes plan to have dinner here on formal night if we don’t feel like packing dress clothes for the cruise.

Lounges, Bars, and Snacks on the Disney Fantasy

There’s always a place to grab a quick bite or a refreshing drink onboard. Whether you’re looking for a snack or a soda, or are seeking something a little stronger , you’ll easily find it on the ship. Here are just a few highlights:

  • Beverage Station

There’s no need to purchase a separate drink package on a Disney Cruise, as most non-alcoholic drinks are included at no additional cost (a rarity in the cruise industry). This self-service beverage station located near the pool offers unlimited refills of sodas, teas, coffees, and other non-specialty beverages.

An adults-only retreat that focuses on specialty coffees and teas during the day, with cocktails in the evening.

A compelling open-air bar on Deck 13 offering expansive views and delightful cocktails. Adults only.

A large lounge area with a stage, and the word

Eye Scream Treats and Frozone Treats

Cool down with all-you-can eat soft-serve ice cream cones (included in the cost of your cruise!), or spend a bit extra to enjoy a specialty smoothie.

Flo’s Cafe: Fillmore’s Favorites, Luigi’s Pizza, and Tow Mater’s Grill

For a quick grab-and-go snack poolside, check out these quick service windows. You’ll find pizza, chicken tenders, burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, and more.

A couple has a drink at a bar themed to a brightly-lit classical carousel

Part of the Europa nightclub district, this lounge features highlights of Italy. Gather ’round the Carosello bar or settle into an intimate booth to enjoy live music and Italian-inspired cocktails. Adults only.

Meridian Lounge

Supplement your elegant meal at Remy or Palo by having cocktails at this upscale travel-themed lounge conveniently located directly between those two fine dining establishments. Cigars are also offered for purchase.

Minnie’s Sweet on You

Purchase hand-scooped ice cream, baked goods, and candy in this shop. Fees apply.

O’Gill’s Pub

Polish of a pint or two at this Irish pub, featuring live sport on-screen and some of the best American, Irish, and international beer on tap. Adults only.

Three people enjoy drinks in a French-themed lounge

A whimsical atmosphere and a custom private-label Taittinger Champagne are the hallmarks of this lush lounge. Adults only.

A serene lounge on Deck 14 in the forward funnel (red smokestack). This spot is often overlooked due to its secluded location, so it’s a quiet retreat with compelling views (and a great wedding venue, too!).

  • Senses Juice Bar

Enjoy a healthy drink at this retreat near Senses Spa and Salon. Fresh fruit and vegetables give their all for these nutritious protein- and vitamin-packed beverages.

This adults-only bar provides scenic views of iconic city skylines around the world. Thanks to a little Disney magic, the view out the “window” changes to a different city every fifteen minutes.

A Guest holds a strap, subway-style, in a lounge themed to the London Underground

It’s always London’s swinging ’70s at this mojo-bolstering nightclub. Pick a proper British cocktail or have a cuppa — it’s up to you! Adults only.

Room Service on Disney Fantasy

Most items on the Disney Fantasy’s Room Service menu are offered at no additional charge – you’ll only have to pay for a few specialty items and to tip the crew member who delivers the food to your room.

The standard room service menu usually includes soups & salads, chicken tenders, burgers & dogs, sandwiches & wraps, and hot wings.  You’ll also typically find a few flatbreads or pizzas and perhaps some pasta. Dessert is also offered — usually cookies, cake, or pie.

A favorite among repeat cruisers is the All Hands on Deck , a cheese, fruit, and crackers plate. Kids of all ages will be pleased to know you can also request a Mickey’s Premium ice cream bar – the same kind found at Disney World.

If you don’t mind coming out of pocket, you can add on specialty items such as beer, wine, canned soft drinks, deluxe coffees, juices, and pre-packaged snacks such as candies.

I personally usually skip the upcharge items and just go for the buffalo wings and perhaps a burger.

Best Bets for Each Meal on Disney Fantasy

Below are my personal picks for the best onboard dining options for each meal.

  • Primary option: Cabanas is the number one breakfast spot onboard thanks to its long hours, expansive options, and all-you-care-to-eat service style. Mornings can be rather hectic here, but there’s rarely difficulty in finding a seat.
  • Secondary option: One of the three rotational restaurants usually offers a table-service breakfast, complete with a server who will bring your food and keep your drinks refilled. The menu is a bit more limited than at Cabanas so I usually don’t go this route, but it’s definitely a much quieter option to start your day.
  • Other options: Room service is available, but I tend to steer clear of it for breakfast. Why? First, you need to order in advance via a menu card that you hang on your doorknob the night before and I usually don’t know in advance what will sound good tomorrow morning. Second and more importantly, the room service breakfast menu is extremely limited. It’s a continental sort of menu with juices, coffees, pastries, and cold cereals. All well and good, but no bacon, eggs, sausage, or oatmeal? No thank you. Though I will admit that it’s nice to be able to order coffee and a light pastry to enjoy while watching sunrise from my verandah.
  • Primary option: Like at breakfast, Cabanas is the best lunch option thanks to its wide selection. Iced jumbo shrimp and crab claws are a signature menu item most days and I usually eat my fill of them at least once during the cruise; you’ll also find freshly grilled meats, a wide variety of side items, some interesting international selections, and lots of tempting desserts.
  • Secondary option: The food service windows at Flo’s Café offer an endless supply of burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, and ice cream cones. These windows are great for folks who want to spend the day by the pool without having to stray too far for a nosh. Even if you’re elsewhere on the ship, heading here is a good option due to their extended hours. More than once we’ve missed lunch hours at Cabanas and had to grab a bite here. They’re also a good choice when you have a late dinner seating but need something to hold you over.
  • Other options : ne of the three main restaurants typically serves lunch with open seating, no reservation required. Room Service is another good option, though there’s sometimes a lunch rush which can delay your food’s arrival a bit. One minor complaint, though: the cloche-covered dishes sometimes mean that my hot wings don’t arrive quite as crispy as I’d like.
  • Primary option: Your assigned rotational dining restaurant is the heart of Disney Cruise dining and shouldn’t be missed. Your dedicated service team follows you all voyage long and will likely become your favorite Crew Members onboard the ship (my wife and I made such a connection with our servers on a 2019 cruise that we still remember their names!). Add in special themed menus and other thoughtful touches, and you’ll quickly see why this is a highlight of each day onboard. We rarely skip it.
  • Secondary option: As an alternative to your pre-scheduled rotational dining restaurant, you might opt to experience Cabanas in a totally new way. Dinner at Cabanas is an entirely different experience than the free-for-all buffet-style offerings that are the mainstay of breakfast and lunch. A host seats you at your table, and a server presents you a menu featuring some of the most popular selections onboard. As I mentioned earlier, my wife and I sometimes go this route when it’s formal night at the main restaurants.
  • Other options: Many cruisers enjoy dedicating at least one night of their cruise to an adult-exclusive meal at Palo or Remy. I personally prefer the idea of going the brunch route there rather than dinner, but that’s just a personal preference. On he other end of the spectrum, you can always grab something from the quick-service windows on the pool deck, or order room service.

Off-Hours Eating and Snacking

  • Primary option: For cravings outside the main meal periods, your best bet is Flo’s Café on the pool deck. Their generous hours and snack-friendly offerings make them a great choice to tide you over between meals. Individual portions tend to be “snack sized” (perhaps 2 or 3 chicken tenders and a few fries), so you won’t spoil your dinner unless you want to.
  • Secondary option: Room Service is available 24/7, up until about 1:30 AM on the last morning of your cruise. It’s the only option for overnight snacking. I’ll occasionally order a few warm cookies and some milk at bedtime, but you can also order 4:00 AM buffalo wings with no judgement.

Disney Fantasy Pools and Water Slides

Two riders on a raft are propelled by water through elevated tubes on the AquaDuck, a water ride on some Disney cruise ships

The AquaDuck is the premier water attraction onboard the Disney Fantasy. This first-of-its kind (water coaster on a cruise ship) attraction takes its guests on a wild adventure high above the upper decks of the ship.

Guests board a raft and are propelled by jets of water through 765 feet of tubes and open-air slide segments; along the way, you’ll experience a 4-deck drop, a careening curve over the edge of the ship, and a journey through one of the iconic red smokestack funnels.

You don’t have to pay extra to ride the AquaDuck, but you will have to wait in line (sorry, no FastPass, Lightning Lane, or Genie+ here). Lines tend to be longest on Sea Days and shorter when the ship is in port. You might have the best luck if you’re willing to ride while everyone’s ashore at Castaway Cay . Riding earlier or later in the day can also help avoid crowds – just don’t forget to check the operating hours each day in the Navigator app.

To ride solo, Guests must be at least 54″ tall and at least 7 years of age. Children under the age of 7 who are at least 42″ tall and toilet-trained may ride with a companion who is at least 14 years of age.

Pools and Splash Pads

An interactive water play zone on Deck 12. Paint cans, shower heads, pop jets, and more make up the splashy atmosphere of this experimental area concocted by Huey, Dewey, and Louie. Kids can patch leaky pipes, “control” water flow to the AquaDuck, and dodge spills from the Ducky Dinghy. Ages 3+; supervision required for those under age 16.

  • Donald’s Pool

This pool offers a shallow wading area with a deeper center. This is a perfect place to enjoy Disney movies on the giant 24′ x 14′ FunnelVision screen nearby. This pool is sometimes closed during special on-deck events, covered with a retractable floor to offer more deck space.

Funnel Puddle

A shallow (approximately 1-foot deep) family friendly pool that’s far removed from the raucousness of the Donald’s and Mickey’s pools. This is the closest thing the Disney Fantasy has to a “quiet pool” that’s still open to all ages; but there’s still a small water fountain feature in the middle that kids love to splash in.

  • Mickey’s Pool & Slide

The shape alone clearly communicates this is designed for kids; The deeper zones of this still-shallow pool are shaped like the friendly face of everyone’s favorite pal, Mickey Mouse. Meanwhile, one of Mickey’s signature white gloves supports a bright yellow waterslide for kids aged 4 to 14 / height 38″ to 64″. May be closed during deck parties.

  • Nemo’s Reef

This toddler-friendly splash zone features PIXAR characters spraying water, a child-sized Mr. Ray waterslide, and more — all in a shaded, enclosed, soft-surfaced area. Ages 3 years or younger; swim diapers are required.

  • Quiet Cove Pool

A serene oasis for those 18 and up to get away from the kids for some quiet time. There’s a three-circled pool of varying depths, lounge-style seating in the shallowest segment, a whirlpool spa, and of course plenty of adult beverages nearby.

Satellite Falls Pool

One of the most unique water spaces onboard the Disney Fantasy, Satellite Falls is an adults-only wading pool that features drizzling water directly underneath one of the giant satellite domes on the ship’s upper deck.

Disney Fantasy Kids Clubs and Teen Clubs

Much of Deck 5 on the Disney Fantasy is dedicated to spaces especially designed for younger passengers (thanks in part to space saved by not having casinos onboard the ship ). Here’s a preview of the kids clubs and other youth-friendly spaces onboard the ship.

  • Disney’s Oceaneer Club

The Oceaneer Club is the primary kids activity onboard the Disney Fantasy. It’s the place where your kids will probably spend most of their time onboard.

This secure facility is accessible only to kids aged 3-10 and trained youth activities staff — but there are pre-scheduled open houses to allow parents and children to tour the location together. Inside there are tons of kid-friendly spaces and activities, and it’s all included in the cost of your Disney cruise! This amazing kids club is one of the reasons we consider Disney to be the best cruise line for children .

Tweens and young teens (ages 11 to 14) have a space all to themselves onboard the Disney Fantasy, and it’s in one of the most exclusive spots on the entire ship: inside the iconic red smokestack funnel on Deck 13! Edge is the perfect place to relax as tweens see fit — a huge video wall, a dance floor, karaoke machines, a game room, and photo booths. The furniture can even be moved around so Guests can make the space their own. A mix of planned activities and unstructured free time keeps things interesting.

Those aged 14 to 17 have a unique indoor/outdoor space made just for them, complete with a super secret entrance! Indoors, teens will find plenty of TVs, video games, and tablets, plus dance parties, karaoke sessions, and group activities. Disney Fantasy Entertainment and Activities

restaurants on disney fantasy cruise ship

Given Disney’s reputation as an entertainment powerhouse, it’s no surprise that the shows and experiences onboard the Disney Fantasy are of the highest quality.

Broadway-Style Shows in the Walt Disney Theatre

Each night of your cruise, you’ll be treated to a live show in the beautiful Walt Disney Theatre. This includes at least three Broadway-style shows during your cruise, along with other additions (such as family-friendly comedians, ventriloquists, magicians, or even hypnotists) on longer voyages.

Shows are typically offered twice nightly, with times are opposite your dinner time onboard. Those with early dining will see the late show, while later diners will see the early show.

Disney’s Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular

Spectacular special effects and just a little magic from the lamp bring this timeless tale to the stage with music and comedy. Marvel at the Magic Carpet and just try to figure out how Jafar transforms! You’ll also enjoy beloved songs from the film as well as a new one written just for this production.

Disney’s Believe

A true stage spectacular, featuring 300+ costumes, 200+ scenic elements, and a cast of characters assembled to help a daughter provide her hard-working father a bit of perspective on what’s truly important in life.

Frozen – A Musical Spectacular

A lively musical retelling of Anna and Elsa’s journey. Kristoff, Sven, and Olaf are all here to join in the adventure, and of course all the familiar songs are there, too.

Pirate Night / Pirates in the Caribbean Deck Party with Fireworks

Pirate night starts with the delivery of pirate bandanas to your stateroom – then the party moves to your scheduled dining location for the evening, where a special themed menu awaits. Then, head up to the pool deck for a raucous show with high-flying pirates including favorite Disney characters. Finally, the grand finale (and another Disney innovation) – fireworks at sea!

Note: not every itinerary offers a pirate night, and fireworks may be canceled due to weather.

Sailing Away Deck Party

The official start to your cruise on the Disney Fantasy. Your vacation begins when the ship’s horn plays those familiar notes and confetti rains down from the upper decks. Captain Mickey and all his pals are there to join the fun to ensure your trip gets off to a great, high-energy start.

Disney Movies in the Buena Vista Theatre

First-run and classic Disney, LucasFilm, Marvel, and PIXAR films are shown all day long inside the Buena Vista Theatre. Every show is completely free — you don’t even need a ticket! Just check the Navigator app or signs outside the theatre for showtimes, then head inside to find a seat.

This is honestly one of my wife’s favorite things to do onboard the ship. It’s a great way to catch up with films she might have missed throughout the year, or to re-watch one that we haven’t ever seen on a true big screen.

If you find yourself sailing during the premiere of a highly-anticipated Disney film, you don’t have to worry missing out. It’ll be shown practically non-stop in the Buena Vista Theatre, likely following a huge “PremEAR at Sea” showing in the Walt Disney Theatre.

Goofy Golf and Sports Deck

If you prefer your entertainment to be a bit more active, there’s plenty of great recreation to be had on Goofy’s Sports Deck , located on Deck 13 aft.

One of my absolute favorite things to do onboard the Disney Fantasy is to play a round of Goofy Golf. The nine-hole course features plenty of terrible puns, which is right on par (see?) with my terrible sense of humor. It’s completely free to play and you don’t need to reserve a tee time. Just grab a putter and a goofball, er, golf ball — and perhaps a scorecard/pencil if you insist on keeping things official. More hard-core mini-golfers will appreciate that each hole offers two tee locations — one just for fun and one for a slightly more challenging experience.

A miniature golf course hole, complete with silly additions such as an octopus in a bucket of water

Elsewhere on the sports deck, you’ll find other, more mainstream pursuits, such as a basketball court and even a digital sports simulator (fees apply).

Down on deck 4, you’ll also find shuffleboard courts — a classic cruise activity.

If it’s your first time on the Disney Fantasy, I highly suggest setting aside some time on the first few days of your cruise to play the Midship Detective Agency activity that’s offered onboard. Not only is it tons of fun, but it’ll also send you all over the ship — a great way to get your bearings and discover things you might have missed otherwise.

Your adventure starts on Deck 5, where you’ll visit a kiosk to pick up a “badge,” a deck plan / casebook, and instructions on where to find your first clue.

This extensive activity has you seeking out more than 20 interactive artwork displays to find clues and stolen items. Thanks to random gameplay events and “choose your own adventure” dilemmas, it’s easy to play this over and over without getting bored.

A family displays their detective badge to an interactive piece of artwork as part of the game

Depending on the agency’s caseload, you might help Mickey and pals recover some stolen paintings, try to find 99 missing Dalmatians, or follow Pepe the King Prawn’s clues to solve a zany Muppet mystery. The Muppet case is my favorite! See if you can find Pepe the King Prawn’s stateroom door on Deck 5.

Don’t have a ton of time to commit? No worries. Your detective badge tracks your progress, so you can play at your own pace, starting and stopping as you like.

Disney Fantasy Spas and Salons

Disney Fantasy offers a full-service spa onboard the ship, featuring many other health and wellness services.

Senses Spa and Salon

Pamper yourself with spa treatments, salon services, and rejuvenation procedures at this restful retreat onboard Disney Fantasy. Some of the services offered at the spa include Swedish massages, aroma stone therapy, deep tissue massage, acupuncture, facials, teeth whitening, shampoo/cut/style, manicures, pedicures, and more. Even those who aren’t into spa treatments might still be interested in enjoying the Rainforest Room with its various themed shower settings. Complimentary non-alcoholic beverages, showers, lockers, sandals, and robes round out the offerings. While prices are higher than at spas on land, many repeat cruisers feel that Senses Spa is worth the added expense .

Exclusively for guests aged 13-17, this special area of Senses offers treatments to teens. A parent or guardian must accompany the teen for the duration of the treatment ( solo and combined treatments are offered as an option).

  • Fitness Center

Perhaps you’re a regular exerciser, or maybe you just want to offset several days of all-you-can-eat meals. Either way, you can stay in shape with the offerings at the Disney Fantasy’s onboard fitness center. Whatever your preferred equipment — weight machines, cardio equipment, ellipticals, treadmills, and others — you’re likely to find it here. If you prefer a group experience you can join a yoga, Pilates, or aerobics class. Or, opt for personalized one-on-one training and analysis with a professional trainer.

  • Walking/Jogging Track

I enjoy a nice walk after dinner, so I appreciate that the Disney Fantasy offers an open-air covered walking/jogging track on Deck 4. I like that it’s low enough on the ship to offer some close-up ocean views — especially handy if you’re lucky enough to see wildlife such as dolphins playing alongside the ship. A leisurely stroll is perfectly fine, but jogging is also fair game here if you don’t want to miss your daily run while onboard. You might even recognize off-duty Crew Members getting a bit of exercise.

The ultimate guide to Disney Cruise Line ships and itineraries

MSN has partnered with The Points Guy for our coverage of credit card products. MSN and The Points Guy may receive a commission from card issuers.

After decades of success making families smile and laugh at its theme parks, Disney dipped its toes into the world of cruising in 1998. Disney didn’t just copy another cruise line’s model for success or slap its name on the side of an existing ship. It created its own brand of cruising.

Disney went so far into charting its own path as to get special approval from the U.S. Coast Guard for its ships’ lifeboats to be yellow instead of regulation orange, to tie into the colors of Mickey himself — black, red, white and yellow.

Now, Disney Cruise Line has five ships sailing in those signature colors, along with three more on order. In a normal year, those five ships take tens of thousands of families on sailings to the Caribbean , Mexico, Alaska, Europe, Bermuda, Bahamas, through the Panama Canal and even to Australia and New Zealand.

For more cruise news, reviews and tips, sign up for TPG’s cruise newsletter .

Having sailed four of Disney Cruise Line’s five ships, I can say the experience is indeed special — especially if you have kids. But Disney’s not a one-trick cruise line that’s only good for one age group. It offers kids clubs and activities to suit babies through teens and has several adults-only areas of the ship . Its newest ship, Disney Wish , provides more cool spaces for adults than any previous vessel.

Disney’s attention to detail transfers to its voyages on the sea. But unlike at the Disney theme parks, which can be a bit complicated to navigate, long lines and complex strategies are rarely a part of the Disney cruise experience.

Get the free planning help of a Disney vacation planner via TPG’s partner, Mouse Counselors .

What TPG loves about Disney Cruise Line

  • Broadway-caliber shows and first-run movies.
  • Disney-level service and attention to detail.
  • High-quality Disney character interactions and kids clubs.
  • Innovative, included rotational dining.

What we could do without

  • Disney cruises are expensive.
  • The onboard Wi-Fi is not the fastest, especially on ships that haven’t been upgraded. And it’s not cheap.

Disney Cruise Line fleet

While Disney may be a household name, Disney Cruise Line is actually a small line. It currently sails just five ships, compared to 27 at its family-friendly competitor Royal Caribbean .

Of the five, two are smaller ships, and three are larger.

The largest ships in Disney’s fleet are Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, at 1,115 feet long and 14 decks high, and Disney Wish , at 1,119 feet and 15 decks high.

These three ships each have a passenger capacity of 4,000 people spread out across approximately 1,250 cabins. The overwhelming majority of cabins on these ships have an ocean view or private verandah, with only 10%-12% being windowless inside cabins. (On its oldest four ships, these interior rooms have a “magical porthole” that displays a live feed from outside to replicate a window.)

Disney Treasure , expected to join the fleet in 2024, will be in the same larger Triton class of ships as Disney Wish.

Disney Wish is currently a workhorse of short three- and four-night sailings from Port Canaveral , Florida, to the Bahamas, home to Disney’s private island , Castaway Cay.

Disney Fantasy often sails weeklong cruises out of Florida. With the addition of Disney Wish to the fleet, Disney Dream now spends its summer across the Atlantic, offering European cruises from May to September, then spending much of the rest of the year based out of Fort Lauderdale.

The smaller two ships in the Disney Cruise Line fleet are Disney Wonder and the line’s first ship, Disney Magic .

These two ships are 984 feet long and 11 decks high, and each has the capacity for 2,713 passengers across 875 staterooms. On these two smaller ships, 70% of passenger cabins have ocean views or verandahs.

Disney Wonder is often on the move and currently splits its time among Alaska , the South Pacific, Hawaii, California, Mexico and beyond. Disney Magic spends part of its year based out of Galveston, Texas, or New Orleans and much of the rest based out of Fort Lauderdale and Miami.

Disney Cruise Line destinations and itineraries

Disney Cruise Line has about 370 annual departures scheduled that range from two- to 15-night sailings. Many new-to-Disney itineraries have recently become available as the line is adding new ships for the first time in a decade.

Disney Cruise Line destinations include:

  • New Zealand
  • Pacific Coast
  • South Pacific

Disney Wish has, by far, the highest number of annual sailings, with 105 three- and four-night cruises departing from Port Canaveral to the Bahamas. These sailings all go to Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay; some also stop in Nassau, Bahamas.

Some Disney cruises do what’s called a “double dip” and make two stops at the private island, where you can step ashore without leaving the Disney bubble.

Pro tip: If you go to Castaway Cay, rent a bike for a little exercise and a self-guided tour of the island. Or, you can run the at-your-pace 5K that morning around the island.

Coming in summer 2024 , Disney will have a second exclusive beach destination in the Bahamas — Lighthouse Point.

This won’t be an entire private island like Castaway Cay, but it will be an exclusive beachfront space designed for Disney Cruise Line with many similar offerings to Castaway. Disney Magic, Disney Wonder and Disney Fantasy will call on this new destination for the first time in 2024.

Who sails Disney Cruise Line?

Let’s start with the obvious: Families love Disney Cruise Line.

The ultimate sweet spot for taking a Disney cruise starts when a child is at least 3 years old and potty trained (the criteria that get them into the included kids clubs) and lasts until they outgrow their love of Disney characters. Remember, Disney now includes the “Star Wars” and Marvel brands and offers themed cruises featuring those characters, too.

A Disney cruise costs more than a similar cruise on a line like Royal Caribbean , so it’s easiest to justify the expense when your kids love Disney the most.

So, yes, the stereotype that Disney Cruise Line is full of families is 100% correct.

You’ll see many families with kids in those preschool, elementary and middle school years. But you’ll also see families with little babies (the minimum age is 6 months on most sailings, 1 year on Panama Canal and transatlantic sailings), tweens, teens, college-age kids and even grandparents who have made a Disney cruise an enjoyable multigenerational travel tradition.

Related: Comparing Disney, Carnival and Royal Caribbean cruises for families

You’ll also see cruisers who love Disney regardless of age and are proud to wear their Mickey ears while hearing the first seven notes of the “When You Wish Upon a Star” melody blown from the ship’s massive horn.

Just like you don’t need kids to have a great time at Disney World or Disneyland, you can happily cruise as adults without offspring on Disney Cruise Line. All the ships have active adults-only sun decks, pool and lounges. Disney Wish especially invested in its adult offerings with an infinity pool, along with more bars spread around the ship instead of being clustered into one main area.

Disney Cruise Line cabins and suites

At a basic level, Disney Cruise Line offers five main types of cabins across the fleet. In its simplified version, the types of cabins on a Disney cruise include:

  • Windowless inside cabins
  • Ocean-view cabins
  • Verandah cabins (with private balconies)
  • Verandah cabins with concierge service
  • Suites with concierge service

These cabins start at 169 square feet for a standard inside cabin and go up to a two-story, 1,966-square-foot Tower Suite on Disney Wish .

Unless you are OK with the smallest space on the ship or have a budget for the largest, the sweet spot for price and comfort on Disney Cruise Line vessels is probably the cabins that are around 204 square feet and usually come with a queen bed, single sleeper sofa and upper-berth pull-down bed and a split bath.

This split bathroom situation places a sink and the shower/tub combo in one bathroom and the toilet and another sink in the other. Each has its own separate door, so someone could use the toilet/sink room while another takes a shower, all in private and at the same time.

You’ll find this cabin layout within the Deluxe Inside Staterooms, Deluxe Oceanview Staterooms and Deluxe Oceanview Staterooms with Verandah categories.

The Deluxe Family Oceanview Staterooms and Deluxe Family Oceanview Staterooms with Verandah add about 40 more square feet to the equation. If you want the largest within those room categories, search for rooms that can hold five people on the Disney Cruise Line website.

Pro tip: You can ask your cabin host for cartoon bedding for the kid’s bed if you think your child will be excited to come back from dinner to one of their Disney favorites.

You can connect many of the cabins on the ship , which is often a much more economical solution for a family looking for more sleeping space (and bathrooms) than upgrading to a multibedroom suite. Roughly speaking, a family of four will pay about 50% more for two cabins than they will for everyone to stay in one cabin of the same size.

If you are going all-out on a particular trip, or are simply working with a larger budget, Disney concierge suites are special.

The smallest available room with this service is the Concierge Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah, which isn’t all that different from the Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah, other than the included concierge service. From there, you can go up to the one- or two-bedroom suites.

Be prepared for sticker shock, though, as these suites will almost certainly be near or over five figures on many sailings.

While pricey, Disney concierge service eliminates almost all of the potential pain points of a Disney cruise (not that there are many pain points to begin with).

Disney concierge service gets you access to the Disney Concierge Lounge, which has food offerings multiple times per day and a fully stocked fridge with sodas, juices and bottles of water.

In the evenings, you’ll find included beer, wine and spirits in the lounge — which you can also take with you as you head out to dinner or to enjoy the view from the deck.

The Concierge Lounge also has its own private deck, and Disney characters have been known to make a private appearance there during the cruise. (Don’t worry, you’ll get a heads-up.)

Related: Is Disney Cruise Line concierge service worth it?

You also have your own check-in area at the port and are among the first to board the ship, which can mean extra time to enjoy having the waterslides to yourself. At the end of the cruise, you can have a private elevator that takes you down to be some of the first off the ship — which should protect you from a long line to say goodbye.

There are other perks of the concierge level, too, such as early front-row seating at shows, included popcorn and the ability to submit your request for meal reservations at Palo or Remy, cabanas on Castaway Cay, spa treatments, character meet-and-greets or whatever else you wish before other guests. These can be made for you starting 120 days before your sailing, which is before all other guests except those with the highest elite status tier in the Castaway Club .

Passengers on their first Disney cruise don’t get to make those reservations until 75 days out if they aren’t in the concierge level. The reality is the hottest items are often booked up by then, especially on shorter cruises when there’s less time to do everything.

Those in the concierge level in one-bedroom suites and higher can also order room service from the restaurants to their cabin, which means you can have a hot breakfast on your verandah if you wish instead of the regular continental options available to most guests.

If you are on the fence about concierge service, it’s arguably most valuable when you are on a shorter cruise, have some specific popular must-have items on your reservation wish list or want someone else to take care of everything. You can also inquire about discounted upgrades at the port, assuming rooms are left unsold on your voyage.

Pro tip: Regardless of your cabin, bring magnetic Mickey or nautical-themed decor for the entrance, as most of the cabin doors are magnetic. Decorating is a fun tradition on a Disney cruise.

Disney Cruise Line restaurants and dining options

You will not go hungry on a Disney cruise. From room service to evening dinners, meals are (mostly) all included.

Rotational dining

On each Disney ship, three main dining rooms serve as dinner restaurants that participate in rotational dining. Each ship has its own lineup of themed rotational restaurants, but the concept remains the same on each.

Each night, your tablemates and servers will move from one restaurant to the next as a team. This way, the servers get to know that you always want to start with a glass of red wine, or your kids’ food needs to come ASAP so you can take them to the kids club as soon as they finish, or (in my case) your daughter wants a side of barbecue sauce with … everything.

You must choose between an early and a late dinner time, with your showtime opposite your dining time. Some restaurants, such as Animator’s Palate, are found on multiple ships, while others are unique to one ship, such as Tiana’s Place on Disney Wonder and all of the rotational restaurants found on Disney Wish .

Included restaurants on Disney Magic

  • Animator’s Palate
  • Rapunzel’s Royal Table

Included restaurants on Disney Wonder

  • Tiana’s Place

Included restaurants on Disney Dream

  • Enchanted Garden
  • Royal Palace

Included restaurants on Disney Fantasy

  • Royal Court

Included restaurants on Disney Wish

  • Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure
  • Worlds of Marvel

At these restaurants, you can order whatever you want on the menu at no extra charge, with a few exceptions (for example, alcohol and specialty drinks cost extra).

While many guests dress up a bit for dinner (compared to their afternoon pool deck attire), most stay relatively casual for the rotational dining restaurants. Disney does not impose a specific dress-up requirement.

Disney cruise ships offer many other dining options beyond the three included themed restaurants — most included, some not.

Room service

Room service is mostly free (other than sodas or alcohol), though the menu is limited if you aren’t staying in a concierge-level cabin. Still, it’s free room service, so I’m not one to complain.

Pro tip: Fill the breakfast card out the night before and hang it on your stateroom to get breakfast exactly when you want it the next morning.

And you haven’t lived until your kids learn how to call and order free Mickey ice cream bars to the cabin … every night (just be sure and add a tip).

Buffet and grab-and-go

Your Disney cruise will also include a buffet known as Cabanas on the original four ships and Marceline Market on Disney Wish. The buffet is usually open for breakfast and lunch, though not in the evening hours.

In addition to the buffet, a few grab-and-go quick-service restaurants on the pool deck serve salads, chili, pizza, barbecue and more, depending on which ship you’re sailing.

Don’t miss these options, as some are quite good. They are typically open from late morning until later into the evening.

Room service, the buffet and the on-deck food counter dining options don’t cost extra and are available to you in addition to or instead of your rotational dining.

You’ll also find included ice cream on one of the upper decks. A pro-level hack is to get Mickey churro waffles from the buffet in the morning (only available some mornings) and add vanilla ice cream for a vacation-worthy breakfast.

Extra-cost, adults-only restaurants

At the top of the “costs extra” list are the restaurants Palo (found on all five ships, though it’s Palo Steakhouse on Disney Wish), Remy (on Dream and Fantasy) and Enchante (only on Disney Wish).

Remy is a fancy adults-only French restaurant that costs $125 per person for dinner (more if you order drinks). This is the type of place where men need jackets and women are expected to wear dresses, pantsuits or a skirt and blouse. Enchante on Disney Wish is similar — you’re dressing up for these meals.

Palo is also fancy, though a notch less fancy than Remy. You’ll see jackets and dresses in Palo, but you can also get by with nice jeans if you want. This adults-only restaurant serves Northern Italian fare and starts at about $45 per person for a multicourse brunch or dinner, though you can also order a la carte for dinner, which could cost more or less, depending on your order.

I can say with 100% certainty that if you enjoy a nice meal, this is worth the extra $45 once during your cruise . From the breadbasket to the dessert, it’s all amazing. You’ll gain 5 pounds, but you won’t regret a bite.

These reservations are hard to get, especially for brunch, so you’ll want to make them the second you are eligible and keep checking back for cancellations if you miss out the first time.

Coffee shops and snack shops

On a Disney cruise, the snacks and pastries you’ll see in the coffee shop or kiosk are all included, but the specialty coffee will cost extra. Drink prices are roughly similar to Starbucks, if not a notch lower. Be sure and ask for the Cafe Fanatic card if you’re a regular, as your sixth drink will be free.

In addition to the included soft-serve ice cream and Mickey bars available via room service, your ship may have some shops with extra-fee ice cream. This can confuse kids, so I want to warn you beforehand. On Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy and Disney Wish, you’ll find an ice cream shop stuffed with candies, gelato and ice cream — all for an extra charge.

Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy also have a juice bar that costs extra.

The exact bars will vary by vessel, but you can expect spots like a wine and Champagne bar, a pub, a laid-back lounge and a bar with live entertainment.

These bars are a lot of fun and are not to be missed if you like live music or a nice drink at the end of the day. Keep an eye out in your app for when and where the happy hours are on board if you want to save a few dollars on your drinks. Some bars also offer a sommelier bin where you get a nice glass of wine at a discounted price — as long as you put the bartender in charge of choosing your drink.

Some of the drink-tasting classes that you book in advance can be a good value if you’re a fan of the drink on offer and are interested in learning a little bit while you sip. You’ll want to book these before sailing, as many do sell out.

Food on Castaway Cay

If your cruise takes you to Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay, you’re in luck, as there’s plenty of included food to eat there, too.

Just like on board, some of the food on Castaway is included, while alcohol and specialty drinks are not. The Cookie’s and Cookie’s Too lunch shacks on the island are both included, so load up on hot dogs, barbecue, hamburgers, fries and all the fixings. Vegetarian options are available.

While the food options here are somewhat basic, they still make for a fun and free meal.

Entertainment and activities on a Disney cruise

A valid reason to want to sail with Disney is the onboard fun that awaits — especially for those who love Disney characters and stories.

Theaters and shows

Each Disney cruise ship features two theaters. In the massive Walt Disney Theatre, you’ll enjoy Broadway-caliber evening shows such as “Beauty and the Beast,” “Frozen,” “Tangled,” “Disney Dreams,” “The Golden Mickeys” and more. If you want a good seat, arrive about 30 minutes early since seating is first come, first served.

The Buena Vista Theatre screens first-run Disney films. These will be the same films still showing in theaters on land. If you happen to be at sea when a new Disney movie premieres on land, you’ll also get that same first look at sea.

Pirate Night is a staple on many Disney cruises in the Caribbean. On that themed night, expect everyone to be dressed in their pirate-y best for the evening, so pack accordingly. Your dinner will also have a pirate theme, followed by a fun show up on deck, complete with fireworks.

Pro tip: If you plan to stay up late for Pirate Night, try to work in a nap that afternoon so you don’t miss out on the nighttime fun.

Game shows, karaoke, bingo and more

The extensive lineup of interactive game shows, trivia, karaoke, dance parties, bingo and more listed in the Disney cruise app are worth checking out. Some of these are adults-only, while others are fun for the whole family. Most are included in the price of the cruise, though bingo does cost extra — and you could win real money.

Other interior attractions and activities

Meeting Disney characters is a fun part of a Disney cruise.

You can make reservations to meet the popular princesses, but most characters are easy to walk up to and meet via a short line. Or, even better, you often see them roaming about the ship at unexpected times.

You can work off some of those treats and drinks at the onboard fitness center on each ship.

The Senses Spa & Salon is a full-service spa with everything from massages to pedicures and hair care. Promotions are available if you book more than one treatment. If you have a Disney Visa card , you can also save 20% on select onboard services.

Pro tip: The showers in this part of the ship are full-size, in case you are getting a bit claustrophobic in the shower in your cabin.

If you like getting away to relax, look at purchasing access to the Rainforest Room for heated stone loungers, aromatherapy showers and even hot tubs on the larger ships. You can buy a one-day or full-cruise pass to this area of the spa, but get a tour first as the layout and inclusions in this space vary dramatically from ship to ship.

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique

Little cruisers can be transformed into a princess or pirate at sea at the onboard Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, which does themed kid makeovers and sells costumes as part of the package. You’ll need an appointment; expect to pay $100 to $200 for most packages.

This is a fun thing to do before meeting a princess, before a more formal night or anytime you want to see a huge smile on your kid’s face. If you have a princess dress or outfit from home you want to use or reuse, you can purchase a cheaper package at Bibbidi Bobbidi.

Decktop attractions

Waterslides.

All of Disney Cruise Line’s ships have some kind of waterslide on board.

The AquaDuck waterslide on Dream and Fantasy takes riders in single or double tubes 765 feet from Deck 12 up and down, through the forward funnel and on a four-deck drop. It’s pretty epic. AquaMouse on Disney Wish is also an inner tube-based ride and is not to be missed.

These lines can get long, so I recommend riding first thing when you board if the port is warm enough. Nighttime rides usually have short waits, too.

Disney Magic has the most thrilling waterslide in the fleet, called AquaDunk, and Disney Wonder has its own waterslide in the AquaLab splash area.

Each Disney ship has multiple pools, though if you’ve never been on a cruise, you may be initially shocked at how small they are — and how busy they can get.

As with the waterslides, we recommend enjoying these first thing when you board if you want to try them without crowds. Otherwise, you won’t find so many people in the pools on port days, early in the morning and right before dinner. There are thousands of people on the ship and only a few small pools, so plan accordingly.

Each ship has a pool and hot tub area for adults 18 and up. It can also get busy, but typically less busy than the family area. Select ships also offer an in-pool bar area for adults.

The adult sun deck is a nice place to grab a chair and relax, even if you have no intention of getting in the water.

Splash pads

Your little one has to be potty trained to use the onboard pools. The option for those still in swim diapers is some splash areas, such as Nemo’s Reef and Dory’s Reef.

Sports deck

If you want to be more active, head to your ship’s sports deck to play basketball, foosball, miniature golf and more. You may even have some sports simulator options beyond your traditional in-person fun.

Children’s programs

As a parent, my favorite part of a Disney cruise might be the included kids programs that children actually want to attend. If the kids are happy for a few hours, the parents can actually relax, too.

Oceaneer Club and Oceaneer Lab for children ages 3–12

All five Disney ships have amazing spaces for kids in the 3-to-12-year-old range in the Oceaneer Club and Oceaneer Lab.

Here you’ll find video games, an indoor slide, fun programs and games with the staff, arts and crafts, surprise character visits and more. Your kids need to be potty trained to stay in this club, so use that as motivation for a kid approaching 3 years old before your next cruise.

Your kids don’t need an appointment to pop in here; they can come anytime from open to close — and the club stays open pretty late.

Parents can stay with kids and play during open hours on the first day and select times on other dates, but most of the time, the Oceaneer Club and Oceaneer Lab are kids-only. Your kids will check in and out by scanning a special MagicBand that also tracks where they are within the kids clubs.

Disney Wish has the added perk in the kids club of a slide that takes the kids straight from the main atrium and into the fun.

Know that once your child turns 8, you have the option of giving them self-checkout privileges. While kids up to 12 are welcome in the main Oceaneer Club, they may start moving up to the tween club by the time they are 10 years old.

Edge tween club for children ages 11–14

When your kid outgrows the fun in the main kids club, don’t worry. Edge is waiting just upstairs.

Technically, Edge is for kids ages 11-14, but you can get your 10-year-old in with permission — and once they figure that out, it’s probably all over for the “little kid club.”

Edge is a much smaller space, but tweens have tons of fun playing video games, having dance parties, doing crafts, playing trivia games and more with their newfound cruise friends.

This club does not utilize parent sign-in and -out, so you need to trust your kid if they are coming to Edge. If your 10-to-12-year-old child visits Edge, they can also play at the Oceaneer Lab and Oceaneer Club, so they have options.

Vibe teen club for children ages 14–17

Get ready to be jealous of this one. On Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, the teen club has its own set of small pools at the front of the ship.

Inside all versions of the teen club, Vibe, you’ll find a tech-friendly world with loungers, dance parties, smoothies and other teen-approved fun. Some of the coolest inside space on Disney cruise ships is dedicated to teens ages 14-17, but you can request for your child to attend this club starting at 13 years old.

‘It’s a small world’ nursery for children 6 months to 3 years old

While the three previously mentioned kids clubs are free and do not require reservations, the nursery operates differently. You will need to make reservations, and the fee is $4.50 per half-hour for the first child and $4 per half-hour for each additional child.

What to know before you go

Required documents.

The specific documents you will need will vary by cruise destination. Having a passport is always a good idea, but it’s not technically required on all Disney cruises. For example, round-trip cruises originating in Port Canaveral, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Galveston, San Diego, New Orleans, New York and San Juan, Puerto Rico, often do not require a passport.

Passports, when required, must be valid for at least six months. For cruises from international ports, you’ll need a passport. Note that it is important that the name on your reservation be exactly as it is stated on your passport or other official proof of nationality.

Disney Cruise Line adds a service gratuity of $14.50 per person per day to final bills. If you are unhappy with the service you receive, you can lower this amount. Of course, you can visit guest services and adjust it upward, too.

To give an idea of the cost, a four-person family on a four-night cruise would pay $232 in recommended tips. The amount is split among your team of dining room servers who quickly learned your kids’ preferences for dinner and your cabin hosts who made your room look like magic while you were out enjoying yourself.

An 18% gratuity is added to onboard spa, bar, beverage, wine and deck service tabs. You can always add an additional gratuity for any of your services or servers.

While room service is free, it’s customary to add a few dollars of tip when you sign the “bill.”

While some gratuity is included at Palo and Remy, you’ll likely want to add an additional tip if you enjoyed the service. If you stay in a concierge-level room or suite, it is customary to tip the Concierge Lounge hosts at the end of your cruise a recommended amount of $8 per night per guest.

Disney Cruise Line’s Wi-Fi, Connect@Sea, is in the process of being upgraded, so speed, bandwidth and cost vary by ship.

If you are on a ship that charges by day instead of by the amount of data used, expect the prices to vary from $12-$36 per day, depending on the speed you select. There are often discounts for buying Wi-Fi access for the length of the cruise.

If you are on a ship that still charges by the amount of data used, we recommend not doing that and connecting either when you are in port or via a plan from your cellphone provider.

Carry-on drinks policy

Guests 21 years and older may bring a maximum of two bottles of unopened wine or Champagne (no larger than 750 milliliters) or six beers (no larger than 12 ounces) on board at the beginning of the voyage and at each port of call. These beverages must be packed in carry-on (not checked) bags or luggage. You can keep drinks chilled in the small fridge in your cabin.

Guests wishing to consume wine or Champagne that they have brought on board in one of the dining rooms will be charged a corkage fee of $26 per bottle.

Smoking policy

Smoking is permitted only in designated deck areas. It’s forbidden in cabins and on cabin balconies, and those who violate this rule will face a $250 cleaning fee.

For an additional fee, Disney ships offer full-service laundry and dry cleaning services that will pick up and deliver clean clothes to your cabin.

Ships also provide 24-hour, self-service guest laundry facilities equipped with washers and dryers, along with detergent and complimentary ironing equipment. You pay for the facilities by using your Key to the World card. These services can get busy during sea days on longer cruises, so plan accordingly.

Electrical outlets

All cabins are equipped with multiple 110-volt outlets, which are standard in the U.S. and Canada. Cabins on Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy are equipped with a combination of 110- and 220-volt (European) outlets.

Small electrical appliances such as electric shavers, curling irons and flat irons with standard North American plugs will function on board; 110-volt items should not exceed 1,500 watts, and 220-volt items should not exceed 2,000 watts. A hair dryer is provided in every cabin for your convenience, but you may bring your own as long as it meets the guidelines above.

The currency on Disney Cruise Line ships, regardless of location, is the U.S. dollar.

When you are on the ship, you will not need cash or a credit card — all incidentals, purchases and services will be charged to your cabin folio. Your Key to the World card (or your DisneyBand+ on Disney Wish ) serves as your onboard payment method. The only exception is if you want to tip a crew member in cash.

In port, you may wish to carry cash or a credit card to buy snacks and souvenirs or to tip your tour guide.

Drinking age

For most Disney sailings, the drinking age on board is 21.

However, on round-trip cruises departing European countries with a lower drinking age, passengers 18-20 years of age can drink alcohol on board with signed parental consent. For round-trip cruises from Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland and Brisbane, guests 18 years of age and older may purchase and consume alcoholic beverages without parental consent.

During the day, people dress casually. If it’s a sea day in a warm-weather destination, and you’re bound for the top deck, that means looking like you’re going to the beach. T-shirts, shorts and bathing suits (with a cover-up to go inside) are fine.

During the evenings, dining attire in the three main dining restaurants is “cruise casual,” meaning no swimwear or tank tops, but you don’t have to put on a party dress. That said, many guests do dress up a bit in the evening, but it’s not required unless you are dining in Palo, Remy or Enchante.

Cruises that are seven nights or longer schedule one “formal night” — though even then, it’s only encouraged, not required. On that night, you will see suits, sports coats, cocktail dresses and similar from some guests.

Pro tip: Be sure and pack that pirate gear for Pirate Night.

Disney Cruise Line loyalty program

Disney Cruise Line has a simple loyalty program, the Castaway Club , with four “elite status” levels that you earn based on how many cruises you’ve taken with Disney. A three-night and 10-night cruise both count as one sailing for these purposes.

  • Silver: One completed cruise
  • Gold: Five completed cruises
  • Platinum: 10 completed cruises
  • Pearl: 25 completed cruises

Related:  The TPG guide to cruise line loyalty programs

This isn’t the kind of loyalty program where you earn free cruises the way you earn free flights with airline miles. Instead, as you go up in status, you earn perks and earlier access to booking cruises and activities — which is key for getting those hard-to-snag adult dining or Castaway Cay cabana reservations

Silver members

  • Book new cruise itineraries one day before the general public and book onboard activities 90 days before sailing.
  • Get a “welcome back aboard” gift (such as a bag), have access to a Castaway Club members-only line when boarding and access to a Castaway Club direct phone number.
  • Select port arrival time with online check-in starting 33 days before the general public.

Gold members

  • All of those perks, but you can book new sailings two days before the general public and can book onboard activities 105 days before sailing.
  • On eight-night and longer voyages, Gold Castaway Club members are also invited to a private reception with special entertainment. There are also select merchandise discounts available to Gold members and higher.

  • Exclusive cruise terminal check-in (where available)
  • Unlimited Digital Photo Package.
  • Select port arrival time with online check-in starting 40 days before the general public.

How much does a Disney cruise cost?

Magic ain’t cheap, and Disney cruises are expensive. They aren’t the priciest voyages out there, but they will cost more than cruises with family-friendly competitors such as Royal Caribbean by a noticeable margin.

For a family of four, the cheapest Disney cruise currently available (not counting the two-night cruises in Australia and New Zealand) is about $2,500. An ocean view will add about $90 and a verandah will add about $500.

On these shortest cruises, concierge-level cabins and access start at a little over $5,000 for a family of four.

Those sorts of prices will only be available during the offseason, such as in mid-to-late January and early February or for repositioning cruises as the ship moves from, say, Puerto Rico to Florida. That same cruise during spring break can cost double or more, so the more date flexibility you have, the better.

A seven-night cruise in the Caribbean will likely start around $5,000 for a family of four. Expect Alaska and Europe cruises to start at $5,000 to $6,000 for inside cabins for a week, and prices go up for longer sailings and upgraded cabins.

You can save money on your next Disney cruise by putting a $250 deposit down while you are at sea on a previous Disney cruise. It’s a popular way to get 10% off your next cruise.

Another way to save on a Disney cruise is to look at a one-way repositioning sailing , as those often price lower than other similar cruises. For example, the cruise line may need to end a cruise in a particular port to reposition the ship to do some sailings from there. You’ll have to get yourself back home from that port, but you may save on the cruise in the process.

How to book

You can book your Disney cruise directly with Disney Cruise Line either over the phone or online, but I’d argue you shouldn’t.

Cruises are easy to enjoy but can be complicated to plan if you are new to this type of travel. This is an industry where a travel agent is still a good call. You want someone who can help you pick the right cabin type and location for your group and keep track of when you can snag those onboard activities you really want.

When the wave of pandemic-related cruise cancellations hit in 2020, I was so grateful to have a travel agent — instead of me — spending time dealing with the cruise line.

Related:  How to book a cruise with points and miles

Another reason to consider going through a travel agent is to get onboard credit. Some travel agents will offer onboard credit based on the amount you spend on your Disney cruise. This is credit you can use toward drinks, spa treatments, excursions or anything else you can charge to your room.

FOR NO-COST ASSISTANCE WITH PLANNING AND BOOKING YOUR DISNEY CRUISE, CHECK OUT TPG’S DISNEY BOOKING PARTNER, MOUSE COUNSELORS .

Generally speaking, the sooner you book a Disney cruise after it goes on sale, the better, as prices usually only go in one direction — up.

Whether you use a travel agent or not, make sure to maximize your credit card points  when paying for the cruise by using a credit card that offers extra points for travel purchases and maybe even offers some built-in travel protections .

  • The Chase Sapphire Reserve offers 3 points per dollar on travel and dining and an annual up-to-$300 travel credit.
  • The Chase Sapphire Preferred Card earns 2 points per dollar on travel.
  • The Disney Premier Visa Card is also a good option, specifically with Disney Cruise Line, as it gives you access to a 0% introductory annual percentage rate for six months following the purchase date on eligible Disney vacation packages, such as a Disney cruise (then a variable APR of 18.99% to 27.99% applies). The card also gets you 10% in savings on some onboard activities and packages while at Castaway Cay.

Bottom line

Whether you are on a three-night trip to Castaway Cay or a bigger crossing to the South Pacific, a Disney cruise is a special vacation that actually feels like a vacation.

The classic styling of the original four ships, the modern storybook styling of Disney Wish, the vast number of inclusions, the rotational dining, waterslides, private island, fun kids clubs, Disney characters, high-caliber entertainment and Disney service shine through.

You’ll certainly pay more for the privilege of sailing with Mickey and Minnie than with some other family-friendly lines. But for those with kids in that Disney age range, or for adults who know and trust the Disney brand, it’s hard to go wrong in choosing Disney Cruise Line for your next vacation.

7 Secret CLUES About Disney’s NEW Cruise Ship — The Destiny

restaurants on disney fantasy cruise ship

Big things are happening with Disney Cruise Line .

restaurants on disney fantasy cruise ship

We’ve already been getting SO many details about the Disney Treasure , but Disney just revealed the name of ANOTHER new ship, the Disney Destiny . The Disney Destiny is set to take its maiden voyage in 2025. It will also be the first Disney ship with a heroes and villains theme . But Disney also dropped some hints about what else it has in store for the newest ship in its fleet.

So Disney has teased some of the movies that will be represented on the ship, including Hercules .  Yes — you read that right, Hercules! Now, we don’t know if this will be something as simple as meeting characters from  Hercules on the ship or if it’s more elaborate like a restaurant or show.

Disney also teased that  The Lion King would be part of the ship in some way. We can’t help but think this could be a show (maybe a shortened version of Broadway’s  The Lion King ). Again, Disney has not yet announced what this could be, but a Lion King show just makes sense.

The video also features a series of doors with symbols on them. One symbol looks a lot like the Jolly Roger (the skull and crossbones), which has to represent something Pirates . Now, this could be just a reference to Pirates Night, which happens on all Disney Cruise Line ships, but we think its inclusion here could be a different kind of Pirates of the Caribbean experience. Could this be a Pirates of the Caribbean tavern or lounge similar to what’s coming to Magic Kingdom ?

You’ll also notice a symbol above that bears a striking resemblance to Edna Mode from The Incredibles . We may see the  Incredibles -themed kid’s space, Hero Zone, on this ship like the one on the Disney Wish and Treasure. But the theme of the Destiny is heroes and villains, so does that mean we’ll see The Incredibles in a new and different way?

The Haunted Mansion was also teased by Disney, and we can’t help but think that a Haunted Mansion Parlor is coming to the Disney Destiny, similar to the one announced for the Disney Treasure .

Disney also teased two Marvel superheroes on those doors: Spider-Man and Black Panther . Now this could be in reference to the Worlds of Marvel restaurant that’s already onboard the Disney Wish and Treasure. This could also suggest Marvel Super Hero Academy , a kid’s area currently on the Disney Wish. However, could a new Black Panther experience be coming to the Disney Destiny?

Disney Cruise Line revealed the name of its next ship, the Disney Destiny, along with details about its design theme, “Heroes and Villains.” (Courtesy/Disney)

It was bound to happen sometime, but Disney Cruise Line waited until its last of three new sister ships to name one Disney Destiny.

The sister ship to Disney Wish, which debuted out of Port Canaveral in 2022 and the soon-to-debut Disney Treasure arriving in Central Florida this December, the third ship in what was originally called the Trident class had its keel laying ceremony Wednesday at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany.

It won’t start sailing until 2025, and its home port has yet to be named, but among the details revealed for what will be the eighth ship in the cruise line’s fleet was the theme of the vessel, “Heroes & Villains.”

restaurants on disney fantasy cruise ship

As such, the filigree artwork for the bow will be of Minnie Mouse wearing a superhero-style outfit complete with a cape.

The cruise line said among the characters from which it will mine features on board will be classic Disney animation films, “The Lion King,” “Hercules” and “One Hundred and One Dalmatians.”

Disney of course owns plenty of good vs. evil intellectual property including Star Wars and Marvel.

“The Disney Destiny will celebrate our most legendary Disney stories and characters, bringing them to life in new and exciting ways exclusively for Disney Cruise Line guests,” said Sharon Siskie, senior vice president and general manager for the cruise line, in a press release. “As we continue to expand our fleet, the Disney Destiny will further strengthen our position as a leader in family cruising.”

Just like Disney Wish and Treasure, Disney Destiny will be powered by liquefied natural gas, a cleaner burning fuel that’s part of the cruise industry’s efforts to reduce emissions.

All three are the 144,000 gross-ton, 1,254-stateroom vessels but still targeting the 4,000-passenger capacity of its older ships, 2011’s Disney Dream and 2012’s Fantasy. The line’s first ships are the smaller Disney Magic that debuted in 1998 and Disney Wonder in 1999. They come in at 84,000 gross tons with 875 staterooms.

The line also is finishing construction for an Asia-bound cruise ship named Disney Adventure that will be the largest in the fleet at 208,000 gross tons.

Disney Wish became the line’s first new ship in more than a decade. It continues to do short three- and four-night Bahamas sailings while Disney Treasure will pick up seven-night trips to the Caribbean.

Disney announces new 'Heroes and Villains' themed cruise ship, the Disney Destiny, set to sail in 2025

The Disney Destiny

Today, Disney shared the very first details about its next Disney Cruise Line ship, the Disney Destiny.

The Disney Destiny, sister to the Disney Wish and Disney Treasure, will have a first-of-its-kind design theme, "Heroes and Villains," drawing on the legacies of beloved Disney stories, characters, and theme park attractions.

The Disney Destiny

The Disney Cruise Line and Walt Disney Imagineering teams were inspired by the dynamic duality of every great Disney story when developing this new ship, where opposing forces of light and dark drive characters to rise to their purpose.

Onboard, guests will encounter heroes and villains alike – including those from beloved Walt Disney Animation stories like "The Lion King," "Hercules" and "One Hundred and One Dalmatians" – within spaces, experiences and entertainment throughout their voyage.

Minnie Mouse embodies the spirit of the Disney Destiny in this brand-new filigree artwork for the bow of the ship, continuing a beloved Disney Cruise Line design tradition. Donning a heroic new ensemble – cape and all! – and a valiant pose, she will boldly lead guests on epic cruise vacations.

The Disney Destiny

The Disney Destiny also reached a new construction milestone today with the keel laying ceremony at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, which is a maritime tradition designed to bestow good luck upon the ship.

The ship is scheduled for delivery in 2025 as part of a multi-year expansion of the Disney Cruise Line fleet that includes the Disney Wish and Disney Treasure, the Disney Adventure that will homeport in Singapore, and the new island destination in The Bahamas, Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point.

By Sara McOmber Leave a Comment

You might consider yourself a Disney World or Disneyland expert, knowing all of the rides , restaurants , and snacks that you absolutely love, but what do you know about  Disney Cruise Line ?!

restaurants on disney fantasy cruise ship

The Disney Magic

Disney Cruise Line has cruise ships (filled with Disney theming !) that sail to a variety of destinations worldwide . Since we’re not currently on our way to the Bahamas (like we want to be), we’re doing the next best thing and looking at ALL of the restaurants onboard these ships. So, whichever ship you’re planning to board soon, you can check out this list to see what kinds of dining options are available !
