Wynonna Judd Announces 2023 “Back to Wy” Tour Dates

Country music icon Wynonna Judd takes her fans back to the ‘90s with her upcoming “Back to Wy” tour. She’ll celebrate the 20th and 21st anniversaries of her debut and sophomore solo records, Wynonna (1992) and Tell Me Why (1993), by performing both albums top to bottom at each show of this exclusive trek.

The 15-city run will meet Wynonna and fans at various theaters and casinos across the U.S. this fall. Tickets to the shows go on general sale starting August 25.

The “Back to Wy” tour starts at the Murat Theatre at Old National Centre in Indianapolis on October 26, followed by gigs in Rosemont, San Antonio, Oklahoma City, Dallas, Louisville and more before concluding in Knoxville at the Tennessee Theatre on December 1.

“Getting to share this tour with the fans who have been with me for 40 years, means the world to me,” Wynonna posted a statement which was accompanied by a video on her Instagram account . “Deep diving into my first two solo albums, Wynonna and Tell Me Why , track by track, will be a trip down memory lane.”

“As I sit and listen to these two records, I’m flooded with the memories that surrounded that time in my life. The fans held me up and supported me through that season of change in 1992, and I now see ‘herstory’ repeating itself. This music healed me then and is healing me now. The circle of life continues…”

Wynonna first climbed-up the ladder of fame in the ‘80s alongside her mother, Naomi, in their mother-daughter country music duo, The Judds. Wynonna then led a solo path with the release of her 1992 self-titled solo debut.

Throughout her solo career, she has delivered eight studio albums, as well as more than 20 singles. Her first three singles, “She Is His Only Need,” “I Saw the Light,” and “No One Else on Earth,” all reached number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.

In addition to five Grammy Awards, Wynonna has also achieved a success with the multi-platinum albums and sold-out tours.

Each show of “Back to Wy” tour will end with a finale of Wynonna performing some of her greatest hits from her first two albums, along with those from her legendary career as part of The Judds.

About The Judds :

Wynonna and Naomi Judd brought a fresh acoustic sound to country music, with unmistakable harmonies surrounding Wynonna’s powerful lead vocals. The Judds are often celebrated for a rarely-interrupted stretch of 14 No. 1 hits when every single of theirs released by RCA landed in the Billboard Top 10; and a career that defined what it means to be individualists in the music business. The Judds dominated touring in the 80s with 20 Top 10 hits, have sold more than 20 million albums and blazed a trail for duos and women who have followed them. Together, The Judds have 16 Gold, Platinum, and multi-Platinum albums and longform videos, led by 2x Platinum albums Why Not Me and The Judds Greatest Hits. Their stripped-back style revived the popularity of acoustic sounds in country music and opened up the genre for more traditional approaches.

Wynonna Judd announces her Back to Wy tour. Here’s everything you need to know

Wynonna Judd is returning to the stage to take a trip down memory lane.

The 59-year-old announced on Instagram that she'll be hitting the road this fall for a tour revisiting her first two albums, "Wynonna" and "Tell Me Why."

Judd shared a video on Instagram Aug. 21 sifting through some old music memorabilia, including old outfits and CDs, and revealing that she was calling the new tour "the Back to Wy Tour."

"Getting to share this tour with the fans who have been with me for 40 years, means the world to me," she wrote in her caption, adding that fans in attendance will take a deep dive into her repertoire.

She continued, "As I sit and listen to these two records, I’m flooded with the memories that surrounded that time in my life."

Here's what to know about the upcoming performances.

When and where is Wynonna Judd on tour?

The "Tell Me Why" singer will hit the ground running on Oct. 26, opening her tour in Indianapolis, Indiana. She'll round out the 15-show run with a performance in Knoxville, Tennessee, on Dec. 1.

Along the way, she'll travel to cities in Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, Texas, Oklahoma, Alabama, Louisiana, Kentucky and North Carolina.

Here's the full list of Judd's tour dates and locations.

How can you score tickets to Wynonna Judd's tour?

Presale tickets for the Wynation Fan Club will start Tuesday, Aug. 22, at 10 a.m. — she didn't specify a time zone — and then will go on sale to the general public on Friday, Aug. 25.

What albums and tracks will she cover while on tour?

Judd says she's "going back to the very beginning of her solo career," focusing on "two words...NUH-STALGIA."

In her Instagram post, the singer said the performances will run through her first two solo albums, "Wynonna," which was released in 1992, as well as 1993's "Tell Me Why."

"This means we get to play the hits, the deep cuts, and everything in between," she said.

ountry music icon, Wynonna Judd, recently announced that The Judds: The Final Tour, produced by Sandbox Live and Live Nation, will be continuing on in 2023 thanks to the overwhelming love and support of fans.

The explosive 11-date first run of the arena tour saw generations of Judds fans singing along to the duo's most enduring and beloved hits. Wynonna has once again enlisted the talents of some of Nashville's brightest stars - joining her for the 2023 run include Ashley McBryde, Brandi Carlile, Kelsea Ballerini, Little Big Town, and Tanya Tucker.

Also, returning as a very special guest on all upcoming tour dates, is Country music powerhouse, Martina McBride.

"What I can think of to say is that I am looking so forward to being out on the road again, and that I am absolutely thrilled to have my friends joining me for this next tour," says Wynonna. "I'm so grateful to the fans that they want more and I'm anxious to be with everybody again."

The Judds: The Final Tour 2023 Dates

Wynonna and Naomi Judd brought a fresh acoustic sound to country music, with unmistakable harmonies surrounding Wynonna's powerful lead vocals and Naomi's unshakeable creative drive.

The Judds: The Final Tour - Q+A with Wynonna Judd

Wynonna Judd, The Judds

Country star Wynonna Judd sits down to share her insights from being on the road and feelings on The Judds Final Tour in 2023.

1. How does it feel to have the “final” dates of The Judds: The Final Tour plotted for 2023?    It is bittersweet. I am grateful and excited for the opportunity to add more dates, and I’m already sad that it’s going to come to an end. It has been one the most unforgettable experiences of my life, getting to celebrate The Judds music and legacy with the fans, while publicly grieving the loss of my mother.   2. This has to be an emotional tour for you, how do you keep your composure on stage?    Well…I don’t. I’ve been letting my feelings fly onstage. I’ve learned that the best way to heal is to walk through the storm. The fans singing the words back to me has been so therapeutic, so I’ve literally been letting the music and this time heal me.    3. What has it been like for you performing The Judds songs again?    Performing Judd music has always been a blessing. At the same time, it feels strange to be the age that I am, singing the songs that I recorded when I was in my 20’s. I am, however, realizing that the fans are loving every minute of it! My fans and I grew up together, so it thrills me to watch them have their own experience with these songs and to be able to take them back to a certain memory or time in their life. I also love seeing the reactions of the new fans that are perhaps hearing some of these songs for the first time.    4. What does a typical tour day look like for you - both pre and post show?    Since we have so many guest artists on this tour, my day starts with a soundcheck and rehearsal with each artist. They all bring something so different to the show, so I have really enjoyed that aspect of it. No two shows are the same! We all have the best time together and laugh A LOT. Sometimes I wish the soundcheck could be the show, because we have so much fun together.    Then, we let a group of fans in for a pre-show performance and Q&A. It gives me a chance to make a connection with the fans who have been with me for so long, as well as the new fans who are seeing me for the first time. It’s really, really special.   After that I go to the bus and I try to rest my brain, because I’m on fire most of the day! I find that I try to relax as much as possible because I go from 0 to 100mph at showtime. I light my candles, do my hair and makeup, and get ready for the show.   Once I get inside the venue, we all gather in a circle and Cactus leads us in a pre-show prayer. Between our band, crew, families, and the guest artists, our circle has grown so much this year. We are truly surrounded with the best people. “Boot Scootin’ Boogie” plays in the arena and then…showtime!   After the show I find that I go to sleep soundly because I am so exhilarated and exhausted from the 2+ hours onstage. The day is so fast paced and seems to fly by. I’m singing 25 songs each night, so when I come offstage I am done. D-U-N!    5. What's it like to see more women in country music now vs. when you first started out? What would it mean to you, to see/hear more of re: women in country music?    To me, there have always been so many great women around me in country music. I’ve been in such great company with Trisha, Martina, Reba, Faith, Shania…the list goes on and on! As for the females in country music today, it’s been an honor and a privilege to pass the torch to such a talented group of women. My hope is that they continue to stay authentic, and never let anybody tell them who they are. I continue to love the songs that are so honest, true, and real. It is so important that we carry on the traditions that separate country music from other genres, and to never forget where we come from in country music.   7. What do you want fans to get from the live experience that they can’t get just from listening to the albums on their own?    The thing I love most about being in this business is the live show experience. What you see is what you get. The tears, the laughter, a lot of it comes out onstage. There is nothing like a live performance because it’s raw emotion happening in real time. It’s the one chance that we, as artists, get to make a human connection with our fans.   8. How have the fans made this tour special for you?   I look out into the audience and I see 3, sometimes 4 generations of fans with their vintage Judds shirts and homemade signs, and it just blows me away. These fans have been with me since the very beginning and are now bringing their children and grandchildren. It is quite a family reunion every night, and as corny as that sounds, it is really what has made the difference in this particular tour.    9. What has to happen for you to feel like, “that was a great show, we nailed it!”?   When I walk offstage feeling like we made a connection with the crowd, is when I feel like we “nailed it.” There is no better feeling than seeing the audience up on their feet for the entire show, and hearing them sing every word back to me. Sometimes the energy and the love coming at me is so strong that it almost knocks me over. THAT is the biggest reward!

Wynonna Judd Announces Solo Tour Dates for Fall 2023

She’ll play her first two solo albums back-to-back

Wynonna Judd Announces Solo Tour Dates for Fall 2023

Wynonna Judd has announced that she’ll be revisiting her first two solo albums on a new American tour kicking off this October.

By performing her first two solo albums — Wynonna and Tell Me Why — back-to-back in their entirety, the “Back to Wy” tour will be a celebration of the early days of Judd’s career. It will also be Judd’s first run of dates since last year, when she hit the road after the death of her mother, Naomi Judd , for a tour that was originally booked for the two of them . Now, the younger Judd is looking to honor the fans who’ve made her long, historic career possible.

“Getting to share this tour with the fans, who have been with me for 40 years, means the world to me,” Judd explained in a statement. “Deep-diving into my first two solo albums Wynonna and Tell Me Why , track by track, will be a trip down memory lane. As I sit and listen to these two records, I’m flooded with the memories that surrounded that time in my life. The fans held me up and supported me through that season of change in 1992, and I now see ‘herstory’ repeating itself. This music healed me then and is healing me now. The circle of life continues.”

Tickets are available via StubHub , where orders are 100% guaranteed through StubHub’s FanProtect program.

The “Back to Wy” will be preceded by a few one-off dates and festival appearances, and the tour will begin in earnest on October 26th in Indianapolis. Check out the full list of dates below, and grab your tickets here .

Wynonna Judd

With the release of her 1992 self-titled solo debut, Wynonna emerged as a singular force in American music. Beyond the five Grammy Awards, the multi-platinum albums and sold-out tours, the country/soul vocalist built on the Appalachian traditionalism that defined The Judds to create a world where Top 5 dance/club hits were as possible as being inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Having practically grown up as America’s favorite musical daughter, Wynonna matured into a woman who embraced how life is filled with peaks and valleys, great thrills, and heavy disappointment. Those realities informed her 5-times platinum Wynonna and nearing 3-times platinum Tell Me Why , the albums that gave voice to every human being emerging into their own adulthood with joy in their heart.

Beyond the groundbreaking music she and her mother created as The Judds, Wynonna has grown into her once-in-a-generation vocal prowess with an ease that made people clamor to her. “No One Else On Earth,” “Tell Me Why,” “She Is His Only Need,” “Girls With Guitars,” and “I Saw The Light” set the next chapter in motion of for the girl from Ashland, Kentucky who became a global superstar.

Wynonna Judd

Wynonna Judd

Country superstar makes dpac debut.

One of Country music’s most legendary voices and truly iconic performers, Wynonna, has announced her upcoming theatre tour, Back To Wy . The tour will feature the songs off Wynonna’s first two solo albums – Wynonna (1992) and Tell Me Why (1993), performed track by track, front to back, followed by a finale of her other hits along with The Judds classics.

With vast critical acclaim including high endorsement as “the voice of her generation” by Rolling Stone, Wynonna, selling over five million units, became the highest-selling debut album by a female artist at the time.  Wynonna earned 3 consecutive #1 hits with “She Is His Only Need,” “I Saw The Light,” and “No One Else On Earth.”  A musical force like none other before her, Wynonna followed her wildly successful debut with the multi-platinum disc, Tell Me Why, which produced several hit singles including “Tell Me Why,” “Is It Over Yet,” “Rock Bottom,” and “Girls With Guitars.”

"Getting to share this tour with the fans who have been with me for 40 years, means the world to me. Deep diving into my first two solo albums, "Wynonna" and "Tell Me Why," track by track, will be a trip down memory lane. As I sit and listen to these two records, I’m flooded with the memories that surrounded that time in my life. The fans held me up and supported me through that season of change in 1992, and I now see “herstory” repeating itself. This music healed me then and is healing me now. The circle of life continues…"

Standing at Concerts

Standing and Dancing at Concerts: DPAC is proud to welcome all types of concerts to our stage. Sometimes during the course of a concert performance, audience members will show their enthusiasm by standing and dancing, especially when encouraged by the performers to do so. Unless directed by the show, we do not ever enforce a must sit policy at concerts. For most concerts, this would not be acceptable to the performers on stage who often love it when the crowd is moved enough by the performance to stand. This is especially true for rock shows and for seats closest to the stage.

Please know that DPAC does not have a “no standing” policy and in most situations will allow guests to stand even if they block the view of the stage for other guests. If your view is ever blocked by a standing or dancing guest, please contact an usher and we’ll attempt to find alternative seating.

For many concert, comedy, and special events at DPAC, we offer added views of the stage with two big screens (size: 16’ x 9’) hung to the sides of the stage or above the stage. These big screens can add to the visual experience of our concert, comedy, and special events and give guests seated farther from the stage what we like to call “a tenth row view”. Approval to use these screens always rests with the visiting show and about half of all concert and comedy events do use these screens.

EXCLUSIVE: Mountain Winery announces epic concert lineup for 2024

Mountain Winery is set to unveil a mammoth concert lineup for it’s 2024 concert season.

The season — the picturesque Saratoga venue’s 66th overall — will consist of more than 70 concerts, touching upon everything from country, comedy and classic rock to pop, funk and oldies.

Big names on the bill include Rod Stewart, Natalie Merchant, Parliament-Funkadelic, Daryl Hall, Elvis Costello, Chelsea Handler and Harry Connick, Jr.

The venue is announcing the lineup today (March 28) at 8 a.m. The presale for Loyalty Club members begins at 10 a.m. April 2, with the general public on sale following at 10 a.m. April 5. Visit mountainwinery.com

The full lineup is listed below, but let’s first take a look at the 10 shows I’m be most excited to see. I’ll run through the list chronologically.

1. Dwight Yoakam (May 17) — I had the chance to see the country troubadour last year, as part of Blue Note Napa’s Summer Session at the Meritage Resort, and he sounded fantastic. His songbook includes some of the genre’s finest tunes of the last 40 years, including “Guitars, Cadillacs” and “A Thousand Miles from Nowhere.”

2. Tanya Tucker (May 21) — Can someone explain to me why it took until 2023 for this legendary performer to get inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame? Seems like “Delta Dawn” alone should’ve secured her passage into the hall at least a decade earlier.

3. Megan Moroney (July 19) — Yes, I’m well aware that my list opens with three straight country music singers. The first two are flat-out icons, while Moroney is one of the most talented and promising new talents to be found in any genre. Her self-assured debut, “Lucky,” was my pick for the best album of 2023. And it’s also the main reason why this show ranks as the one I most want to see at the Mountain Winery in 2024.

4. Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit (July 20) — Who doesn’t like Jason Isbell? Judging by the reviews that this Americana artist has gotten from so many of his past albums — which includes last year’s “Weathervanes” — the answer is pretty much nobody.

5. The Australian Pink Floyd Show (Aug. 9) — It’s rare that a tribute act would make one of my top 10 lists, but I’m just so in the mood to hear those epic David Gilmour guitar parts played live. And Mr. Gilmour hasn’t toured the Bay Area since 2006. Sigh.

6. Gary Clark Jr (Aug. 18) — Speaking of cool guitar work, this Austin blues-rocker will surely light up the frets when he visits Saratoga. The four-time Grammy winner is touring in support of his recently released fourth studio album, “JPEG Raw.”

7. Lost 80’s Live (Aug. 31) — Just a really fun lineup, with A Flock of Seagulls, Wang Chung, The English Beat, Missing Persons, The Vapors, The Escape Club, Stacey Q, Animotion, Musical Youth and Dramarama. The best part is the sets tend to be short, so expect the hits and not much else.

8. Air Supply (Sept. 6) — I definitely don’t have to sell this one to the band’s incredibly devoted fans — lovingly dubbed “Airheads” — who will turn out in mass to see Air Supply perform such classic cuts as “Lost in Love,” “All Out of Love,” “The One That You Love” and, best of all, “Making Love Out of Nothing at All.”

9. Three Dog Night & Little River Band (Sept. 7) — The latter has so many awesome songs, but I’d buy a ticket just to hear these first-tier Yacht Rockers play “Cool Change” alone. Toss in Three Dog Night — and the chance to scream along to “Joy to the World” — and this one definitely looks like a winner.

10. Clint Black (Oct. 17) — I opened with country and I’m closing it, especially since Black is touring in celebration of the 35th anniversary of arguably his finest album — the 1989 multi-platinum debut “Killin’ Time.”
