Produced by Live Nation and featuring Bob the Drag Queen (Caldwell Tidicue) at all dates on the tour, the music event will honor Madonna’s musical journey across four decades with a special celebration of New York, the city where her career began. “I am excited to explore as many songs as possible in hopes to give my fans the show they have been waiting for,” Madonna said in a statement included in her tour announcement .

Madonna Wraps Up European Leg Of ‘The Celebration Tour’

Opening Night of Madonna: The Celebration Tour - London

Tonight Madonna travelled on the tube to London’s The O2 Arena to complete the sold-out European leg of her massively successful The Celebration Tour .

The continent has been brought to a standstill as the tour, spanning 11 countries and 28 shows, delivered an unparalleled experience of powerful presence, infectious energy, and a mesmerising production.

Buy Madonna vinyl and CDs at the Dig! store

Launching in October in London with the first of six sold out shows at The O2, The Celebration Tour saw the best-selling female artist of all time deliver a non-stop, fearless performance featuring captivating choreography, bold costumes, and her most elaborate stage to date, masterfully designed by Stufish.

Reflecting on her extraordinary career, Madonna took the enraptured audience on an emotional odyssey through her greatest hits , including songs not performed for decades. From her struggling artist days in New York City to meteoric success, personal and professional lows, and spiritual awakening, the show encapsulated Madonna’s past while embracing the future. Directed for the stage by longtime collaborator Jamie King and musically orchestrated by Stuart Price.

Madonna has also been joined by various special guest judges during “Vogue” including Debi Mazar, Donatella Versace, Jean Paul Gaultier, Diplo and FKA Twigs, to name a few.

The Celebration Tour , spanning four decades of unstoppable hits, featured 20 onstage performers on a colossal 4,400 square ft. stage—the largest in Madonna’s touring history. The stage, inspired by the Manhattan grid, showcased Uptown, Downtown, Midtown, East, and West stages, with a unique three-layered circular stage reminiscent of Madonna’s original VMA performance wedding cake.

Backstage and behind the curtain were three travelling mobile gyms, forty-five wardrobe trunks, three physical therapists, and forty pairs of boxing gloves. The production boasted 14 spotlights for Madonna, over 600 intelligent lights illuminating the stage, 8800 lighting cues, 80 tons of production equipment, and a travelling crew of 200+. Notably, the costume department alone comprised 25 crew members, showcasing the scale of the production.

The 79-date tour, produced by Live Nation, now heads to Madonna’s adopted hometown of New York City in December, commencing the North American leg. The celebration will continue across the U.S. and Canada throughout spring 2024, concluding with four sold-out show and a fifth & final date added due to demand in Mexico City next April. The full tour is detailed below.

During her first week of the Celebration Tour at a stop in Antwerp, Belgium, Madonna took a minute to address her recent hospitalization. “Less than four months ago, I was in a hospital and I was unconscious, and people were thinking, predicting that I might not make it,” Madonna told fans at Belgium’s Sportpaleis Arena. “So, it’s a fucking miracle that I’m here right now. My mother, God bless her, she must be watching over me — she said, ‘Girl, it’s not your time to go.'”

Madonna also recently spoke about the “near-death experience” during her Los Angeles concert in March, even addressing her doctor who was in the audience and the first words she said after getting out of her coma .

“It’s called a near-death experience, and I’m not kidding, it was pretty scary,” Madonna said. “Obviously, I didn’t know for four days because I was in an induced coma, but when I woke up, the first word I said was, ‘No.’ Anyway, that’s what my assistant tells me.”

The icon later told the audience, including this writer, at the Forum, “I’m pretty sure that God was saying to me, ‘You want to come with? You want to come with us, wanna go this way?’ And I said, ‘No!'”

“The oppression of the LGBTQ+ is not only unacceptable and inhumane; it’s creating an unsafe environment; it makes America a dangerous place for our most vulnerable citizens, especially trans women of color,” Madonna shared in a statement on Instagram. “Also, these so-called laws to protect our children are unfounded and pathetic. Anyone with half a brain knows not to fuck with a drag queen. Bob and I will see you from the stage in Nashville where we will celebrate the beauty that is the queer community.”

With dates scheduled throughout April 2024, Madonna will continue to travel all across the United States for the Celebration Tour , including stops in Los Angeles, Palm Springs, and Austin.

Madonna Celebration Tour Set List

Madonna’s tour features some of the legend’s most iconic songs and moments throughout her career.

“Four decades … as in, 40 years” Madonna replies. “As in, all those songs?”

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer performs tracks from the opener “Nothing Really Matters” to “La Isla Bonita,” which she also sang with Schumer in the tour announcement clip.

At a recent stop at the Kia Forum in L.A., Madonna’s set list also included “Holiday” from her self-titled debut to the disco anthem “Hung Up” from 2005’s Confessions on a Dance Floor to the title track from 1998’s Ray of Light — there’s no shortage of Madonna’s greatest songs to choose from.

I have been seeing Madonna concerts for many years and she always puts on a great show ! She is an excellent performer. The Madame X show was very close and personal. She played mostly from her new album with some old favorite hits. Due to injuries and her age, she does not move around and dance like in previous shows. She also looked unexpressional due to work on her face.

Start time was 10:30 and she came on a little after 11. There was a Portuguese band beforehand playing some of her songs which was very nice.

Overall, a good show. She had her daughter with her on stage which was a sweet touch. Madonna as always was outspoken about the President and current politics which is her freedom of speech. However, I did not go to hear political views, but to see her perform her music.

She always has a god message to inspire others to make a difference in the world. I love how she stands up for women and gay rights. I love Madonna and always will !

It was my very first Madonna concert. I paid my most expensive ticket fees, 2!week salary, to get a Mezzanine section in my he Wiltern theater, Los Angeles (LA) when the tour was first announced, 6 months mabe.About the his venue, no AIr Condition for entire night outside or inside the theater. No comments no apologies from the facility. It might be always under this condition or just one night, I am not sure. About the production, nothing special, small stage, recycled props and pretty much the same dance moves. Madonna has a beautiful voice as ever but this show very disappointed me per all of my expectations. I recently attended Lady Gaga and Pinks (2 times), Aerosmith (2times). I would rate these shows 10 times better than Madonna in LA. To true fans who don’t make much money it is better to skip this show to retain a better memory about Madonna shows of old time.

I ran out of air the breath inside the theater so I left toward the end of the show when the stage turned totally dark. I could said the the show affected me negatively financially and emotionally. Thank you for reading.

AMAZING!!! Love that she engages a lot with the audience. The track list was fantastic...the small theater experience was hard to adjust at first because I’m so used to her large stadium/arena productions, but it all changed when she started talking and explaining her reason for this production. I had many favorite moments for example, Vogue was fun, no remix just the original song performed, the Batuka ladies where fantastic, Frozen was so beautifully done, her Fado club was section was cool. Everything about this theater experience was great...I can’t wait to see it again in Vegas next weekend. I highly recommend it!

Madonna rounded off the European leg of her groundbreaking Celebration tour with a surprise guest appearance from Stella McCartney .

The legendary pop star has been performing across Europe since October , thrilling fans with a glittering retrospective of her six-decade-spanning career.

On Wednesday (6 December), Madonna, 65, gave her final show at London ’s O2 Arena , the same place it began nearly three months prior .

For the “Vogue” segment of the concert, the “Hung Up” singer is usually joined by a celebrity guest who helps her judge dancers and models as they make their way down the runway towards them.

In traditional ballroom fashion, drag artist Bob the Drag Queen commentates from the sidelines, awarding the candidates marks between a “chop” and “10s across the board”.

The final show for 2024 featured fashion designer McCartney sitting beside Madonna as they enjoyed and judged the different categories on display.

“Walking the runway, eating the runway, serving the runway, all-American!” Bob chanted as the models posed.

One clip from the segment shows models taking part in the “sex siren” category, during which male-presenting models writhed at Madonna and McCartney’s feet.

The dancers then hitched one of each woman’s legs on their shoulders and appeared to simulate oral sex, before they left the stage.

Previous celebrity guests for this memorable segment of the tour include music artist FKA twigs, DJ Diplo and fashion designers Donatella Versace and Jean Paul Gaultier, who both designed some of the costumes Madonna wears on stage.

Other highlights from the show include the singer sharing the stage with some of her children, including Lourdes Leon, David Banda and James, as well as a touching memorial for some of the millions of people who died of Aids-related complications.

In The Independent ’s five-star review of the show , music critic Helen Brown commended the performer’s command of the stage and her resistance to ageist criticism.

She wrote: “[Madonna] makes us feel young as she bops to ‘Into the Groove’ before playing a snatch of the 2016 Billboard Awards speech in which she spoke out against ageism in the industry, telling us that ‘the most controversial thing I’ve done is to stick around’. In doing so, she continues to inspire fans to hang onto their own fire; to refuse to give up or shut up.

“We should never forget how much Madonna changed the world – hers is a life and a legacy worth celebrating.”

The Celebration Tour will resume in New York City on Wednesday 13 December and is set to conclude on 26 April 2024 in Mexico City.

Madonna

In 1974, at the age of 15, Madonna snuck out of her father’s house in suburban Detroit to attend David Bowie’s Diamond Dogs Tour. She was summarily grounded for the summer, but the punishment was worth it. “I don’t think that I breathed for two hours. It was the most amazing show that I’d ever seen,” Madonna said during a speech inducting the Thin White Duke into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1996.

Madonna’s first two tours, 1985’s Virgin Tour and 1987’s Who’s That Girl World Tour, served as experiment labs for the burgeoning superstar. In 1990, her Blond Ambition World Tour revolutionized the pop concert. Drawing inspiration from Bowie’s theatricality, Prince’s cheeky flamboyance and Michael Jackson’s stage command, she offered audiences an immersive experience that went beyond conventional live performance.

Each of Madonna’s subsequent tours have pushed the boundaries even further, embracing technology for multimedia (and multi-sensory) presentations of her music. On the heels of her own induction into the Rock Hall of Fame in 2008, the singer’s Sticky & Sweet Tour became the highest grossing tour for a female artist in history – a record she held until 2023, when it was finally eclipsed by Beyoncé’s Renaissance Tour, according to Billboard Boxscore.

Madonna could have hung up her corset long ago and she would still be one of the most successful live acts of all time. But she continues to push herself – and us. Her latest trek, the career-spanning Celebration Tour, will wrap up with a historic free show at Copacabana beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on May 4. The concert will be broadcast live on TV Globo and will likely see Madonna performing for her biggest audience to date – more than 40 years into her career.

To get in on the celebration, we’ve ranked all 12 of Madonna’s boundary-busting tours.

The Virgin Tour (1985)

Madonna

Madonna’s very first tour was propelled, like most things related to the queen, almost entirely on the strength of her sheer force of will — and, of course, her raw talent. A magnetic and skilled performer (that toss and catch of the tambourine!), Madonna sprinted through a relatively short setlist culled largely from her first two albums, dancing and belting out hits like “Into the Groove” and “Burning Up” like her rent was due yesterday. But she didn’t need to worry about paying the bills for long: When the tour kicked off in April 1985, she was playing modest theaters; two months later, she was performing to a sold-out crowd of Madonna wannabes at Madison Square Garden.

Who’s That Girl World Tour (1987)

Madonna

Compared to the Virgin Tour just two years earlier, Madonna stepped up the production values, choreography and theatricality for her first world (and stadium) tour. Dramatic performances of “Papa Don’t Preach,” “Live to Tell” and her then-most recent No. 1 on the Hot 100, “Who’s That Girl,” hinted at what was to come on future tours in terms of spectacle and ambition. Though it was only her second tour, Who’s That Girl would become the last of Madonna’s shows to resemble a conventional pop-rock concert.

Re-Invention World Tour (2004)

Madonna

Coming off of the commercial disappointment of her 2003 album American Life , Madonna returned to the place she’s always thrived: the stage. The Re-Invention Tour was nothing she hadn’t done before or wouldn’t do better in the future, but — for the first time in years — she was embracing her past, performing rocked-out renditions of early hits “Burning Up” and “Material Girl” with electric guitar in hand, and even reinventing a few fan favorites like “Hanky Panky” and “Deeper and Deeper.” As for the queen herself, she was in top form both vocally and physically.

Madame X Tour (2019-2020)

Madonna

Part jukebox musical, part avant-garde performance art and part standup special, the Madame X Tour revolved around a James Baldwin quote… and a typewriter. Yes, Madame X is a stenographer. The tour took place in theaters and opera houses instead of the usual arenas, offering a more intimate and interactive experience. Highlights included a jazzy version of “Human Nature,” a neo-noir restaging of “Vogue” and a crowd sing-along to the resistance anthem “I Rise.”

Rebel Heart Tour (2015-2016)

Madonna

A blend of Cirque du Soleil, Broadway and burlesque, the Rebel Heart Tour saw dancers swinging on 10-foot stilts, dressed as nuns on stripper poles and sliding down giant LED screens. As for Madonna, she seemed more at ease on stage than ever, playing the coy chanteuse a la Blond Ambition and strumming the ukulele to “True Blue” – the first time she’d performed the song in nearly three decades. In fact, Rebel Heart was heavier on the hits than any tour since Re-Invention, including a Latin-infused medley of classics “Dress You Up,” “Into the Groove” and “Lucky Star,” as well as a modern twist on “Material Girl.”

Sticky & Sweet Tour (2008-2009)

Madonna

After a first act that didn’t quite live up to the lofty standards Madonna had previously set, the Sticky & Sweet Tour eventually hit its stride. The ‘Gypsy’ and ‘Rave’ segments in particular – including an electrifying rendition of “La Isla Bonita” featuring Ukrainian group Kolpakov Trio and a heavy metal version of “Hung Up,” which ended with Madonna shredding her guitar to Pantera’s “A New Level” – were as exhilarating as any of her previous tours’ best moments.

The Celebration Tour (2023-2024)

Madonna

Madonna’s latest tour is the sight and sound of a legend fully embracing her legacy. With no new album to promote, the setlist is packed with so many iconic songs – including a handful she’s never performed on tour before, such as “Bedtime Story” and “Bad Girl” – that more than a dozen of her 28 top 5 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 had to be omitted. A musical recounting of the Queen of Pop’s life and career, the Celebration Tour touches on her rise to fame in New York, the AIDS crisis (via a stirring rendition of “Live to Tell”), the media backlash she suffered in the early ‘90s and her spiritual rebirth, in which she rises like an AI phoenix on a glowing cube and — quicker than a ray of light — soars above the crowd. Masterful.

Drowned World Tour (2001)

Madonna

Pioneered by bands like U2, live concerts had moved closer to multimedia presentations in the years since The Girlie Show in 1993, and Madonna fully embraced the artistic potential that new technology allowed. For her first tour in eight years, Madonna pulled out all of the stops: smoke machines, acrobatic stunts, line-dancing, even Japanese anime. And with only a handful of older songs making the cut – including tour staples “Holiday” and “Human Nature” – she proved she was still laser-focused on the present… and the future.

The MDNA Tour (2012)

Madonna

Coming on the heels of Madonna’s iconic halftime performance at Super Bowl XLVI, the maximalist MDNA Tour was one of her most ambitious, employing elaborate stage combat, slacklining, Tetris-style cubes that rose 16 feet above the stage and a backdrop of eight rotating video screens. It was also one of her most intense shows. At 54, Madonna was in peak form, performing intricate choreography in spiked stilettos nonstop for two hours straight. The only chance she had to take a breath was during a surprisingly poignant piano version of “Like a Virgin” … after which the air was literally squeezed from her lungs by a corset being tightened around her.

The Girlie Show (1993)

Madonna

Inspired by cabaret and classic Hollywood musicals, The Girlie Show was a visual tour-de-force. The second act, dubbed ‘Studio 54,’ rivaled the ‘Religious’ segment from Blond Ambition for sheer catharsis, with the freedom of the orgiastic disco era (“Deeper and Deeper”) juxtaposed with the subsequent AIDS crisis (“In This Life”), as well as a captivating fever dream of choreography set to a remix of “Justify My Love.” Madonna was in fine voice throughout, growling her way through “Express Yourself” and harmonizing beautifully on “Rain.” She’s never had a better live band, either — and even mused about collaborating with them on an album, though it sadly never materialized.

Blond Ambition World Tour (1990)

Madonna

With its elaborate costumes (courtesy of French designer Jean-Paul Gaultier), Broadway-style sets (designed by Madonna’s brother Christopher Ciccone) and quasi-narrative arc, the Blond Ambition Tour is the blueprint – the mother of the modern pop concert. The show infamously found Madonna exorcising herself of the guilt of her Catholic upbringing. The ‘Religious’ segment, which began with the singer simulating masturbation and ended with her facing the judgment of the male authority figures in her life (her father, the Pope, God), is among the most audaciously conceived and impeccably executed moments of stagecraft in touring history.

Confessions Tour (2006)

Madonna

The Confessions Tour snags the top spot on our list for two reasons. First, it served as a culmination of everything Madonna had learned from Blond Ambition through Re-Invention, combining spectacle, drama and good ol’ fashioned performance mojo. Like its namesake, 2005’s Grammy-winning Confessions on a Dance Floor , the show struck a deft balance between dance-party hedonism and intimate introspection. Madonna’s 2000 Hot 100 chart-topper “Music” was transformed into a roller-disco fantasia, while a haunting rendition of “Live to Tell” saw the veteran provocateur suspended from a giant disco-fied cross in order to shine a light on the plight of AIDS in Africa.

Most importantly, Confessions was Madonna’s most cohesive and consistently thrilling show to date. Musical director Stuart Price skillfully arranged and remixed early hits like “Erotica” and “Like a Virgin” to fit the Eurodisco aesthetic of Confessions . Plus, each act of the show was a visual and aural smorgasbord, from the opening equestrian segment, which found Madonna emerging from a giant glitter ball and commanding a stripper-poll-cum-carousel-horse, to the extended finale, which mashed up “Lucky Star” and “Hung Up” into a nearly 15-minute explosion of ear and eye candy.

Madonna to Stage Free Concert in Rio de Janeiro as ‘Celebration' Tour Finale

Madonna has announced that she will conclude her blockbuster ‘Celebration' tour with a free concert in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Saturday, May 4th at Copacabana Beach.

The show will be free of charge as a thank you to her fans for celebrating more than four decades of her music over the course of the epic global run of the tour.  Sponsored by Itaú Apresenta, it will mark Madonna's first show in Brazil since 2012.

No tickets are required for the event. Entrance will be applied on a first come first serve basis the day of the event – the stage will be in front of the Belmond Copacabana Palace Hotel. This event will be broadcast live on TV Globo.

After a three-month delay due to a serious bacterial infection that the singer said placed her in a coma, Madonna's ‘Celebration' tour launched in London in October with a record six sold out shows at the O2, moving across Europe before coming to North America late last year.

The Celebration Tour continues tonight with the second of two shows in Dallas before making stops in Houston, Atlanta, Austin and more.  The upcoming dates also include three nights in Miami at the Kaseya Center (April 6th, 7th, and 9th) and five nights at Palacio De Los Deportes in Mexico City.

Information about the event can be found www.madonnainrio.com and  https://www.instagram.com/bonustrack.live/
